- An interesting part of the Terra Invicta story is the different way in which each of the factions reacts to discovering more about the new arrivals.
Humanity first is quickest to find a way to put them down, the Academy comes to understand their underlying motivation and culture.
And the Initiative - the Initiative takes one look at the phorocytes, hands them over to big pharma, and has a new product in development nearly instantly.
And as for product testing? We're doing it live I guess?

Ok - some extra rules active by virtue of Board motions:
True to form - Whenever an event presents an initiative specific option, we have to take that option, even if it's terrible
We are the one percent - only one pip of welfare allowed for any given nation
Honouring the EIC - we need to take control of the UK, re-establish it as a military power greater than the United States, and reclaim Britain's researchable territorial claims
Twin keys - The release of nuclear weapons cannot be authorised without a board vote
Trademark dispute - We can't use skunkworks before 2028 as a fight over the name moves through the system
And of course, we still need to pump the stock on our existing rocket stocks by scoring some wins using chemical rockets...
i. Making the U.K > U.S. / Reestablishing the British Empire -> Is the U.S. a researchable territorial claim for the British empire, presumably based on relitigating the war of 1812? If so, that could neatly dovetail...
ii. 1%, one welfare allowed for any given nation -> Is this tonally coherent? Bread and Circuses is the classic move of the rich and powerful to satiate the masses. Could I instead propose that welfare must be proportionate to corruption, maybe at a ratio of 1:2 or 1:3 respectively (or whatever value you think thematically logical).

The reason the hydra destroyed your moon base was because they now will send a retaliation ship against anyone who kills/captures one of their agents.

There should be some rule like "Davos Month" where you're allowed to increase welfare for a period but only if you increase spoils by an equal amount.
Rules based world order, democracy is important as long as you think, do and elect who we want.
That or allow “charity” donations, where the rich people follow the gospel of wealth mentality where they donate a portion of their incredible wealth

The Initiative's unique Org is probably THE most overpowered Org in the game, because it turns anyone into a super persuader instantly. Makes them hellishly annoying as an AI, because if you ever get on bad terms with them, they can and will start stealing all your orbitals and no ammount of assassinations will be enough because even new agents instantly get +15 persuasion.
It gets even better they get a second level of cybernetics for persuasion that gives their agents +10 persuasion so they can give any agent max persuasion. They are the faction that has the most unique mechanics and unique techs in the game.
I like their color scheme for ships the best.

The required boost for Mercury also has to do with its fast orbital period. In real life it's very difficult to get there. A direct route takes too much fuel, so probes do all kinda of years long gravity assists to pick up speed.
More like gravity cancelling of orbital speed. Earth is orbiting the Sun much faster than Mercury. In order to not missed Mercury, you have to slow down the vehicle to match it's speed.

House Rule: Follow the story, As stated in the Academy playthrough we need to sell Pherocyte resistance tech to any and all factions that want to buy it.
Flesh is weak-Every counsellor must have every single cybernetic implant and at least one of your big nations miltech must reach robotic age. ALL HAIL THE OMNISSAIAH.
House Rule: For profit we should expedite the Exodus program. Additional markets (that owe us) are always better.
I tried doing that myself a while ago. Doesn't seem like the ai Exodus can actually build their exit module even if they have the resources last I checked.

Have and maintain a positive relationship with Humanity First. Get them control over US military or (X) armies and nuclear weapons. X can be any number that you find to be challenging or interesting.
This much more a core Terra Invicta issue than with the play through, but I wish the mid-game had stations and outposts change hands more often either through diplomacy, or special operations forces. It feels like you're good to go for your play through once you're able to get all the good spots on the Moon and Mars which is a positive feedback loop against the AI factions later.
If I lived in this world I’d be buying pherocytes at Initiative Walgreens to make sure I got the promotion I’ve been hoping for.

The liquefaction of the United States army has significantly damaged our profit margins in the military industrial complex. Lasers near infinite use only allows us to profit once from the installation of the weapon and the battery. The shipping and refilling of ballistic magazines provides infinite profit, and would both work in tandem with our current investments into conventional warfare and boost our ailing stocks significantly.
I propose the banning of non point defense lasers, by utilizing ballistic weapons we can use current assets and free agency talent from the dismantling of the American Military Industrial Complex. The board will continue to deliberate on the use of experimental plasma weaponry, the explosions do look good in advertising.
Aren't lasers more cost-efficient than ballistic weapons given that they are energy based versus ballistic weapons that require actual ammunition to be produced?All you'd need is enough energy produced to recharge them efficiently.

@@gord163 It boils down to investments in miltech for the masses. If we develop lasers for our own use it cuts costs for us, while if we never improve the miltech of Earth governments we can continue to sell to them.

I can understand the initial horrified reaction, fellow director, but rest assured that our bottom line is trending *upwards* thanks to the efforts of certain trends within Mexico. A nuclear test by one Colonel Castillo is no mere coincidence- The gutting of the US' MiC the perfect opportunity for competition spanning across the entirety of Central to South America to suddenly spring up now that their nearest, most dominating market rival has been defanged. Get your investments in Mexico early, and you'll see the wonders both positive PR and a rapidly ascendant arms market can bring us.

New rule Idea (late I know)
corporate training week
Once a year, you must send all (or all but one if you think its too far) of your councillors for a corporate training week by sending them to ground in the same location somewhere nice and sunny so they can play golf and claim things on the company credit card
It should be noted that "pay their taxes on time" is about filing the paperwork. the actual quantity of taxes handed over is near 0.
My favourite playthroughs are the ones where you force yourself to roleplay as an asshole. This isn't quite The Protectorate, but I know I'm going to enjoy this episode.

If you're going commonwealth and the US is falling apart you could do greater dominion via ottawa then unify that into the commonwealth
Another challenge or rule could be:
"The Bottom Line" or "You See a Rock I see a Ruby":
Have complete control over the planet Mars and its Atmosphere. Have at least a level 1 outpost and space station in every control point. This infrastructure must earn 50 money each.
Can do Mercury instead and call it a diamond.
For what its worth, I like the pace you've been playing the game at, love the terra invicta series!
How about "Have a tourist module on every station" as a new house rule? :D
Prioritize that tech and have a minimum allowable total. Better to have one super-resort per planet/moon than just a little token option everywhere.

Orbital Defence Plan- Using our connections with those nations that have allied with us and have a sufficient space program we must build or at least plan to build a United Space Force to protect our outer space investments whilst officially saying that the fleet is meant to protect the Earth.

Initative is my favourite faction since it has the most realistic goals of any faction. Protect interests. Exploit opportunities. Keep shareholders happy.

I'm no expert, but it takes a lot of Boost to get to Mercury because it takes a lot of boost to slow down from Earth's orbital velocity and fall toward the Sun. Or something like that.

I remember hearing that those kinds of audio blips can be caused by the final rendering lagging. You could check the CPU utilization while you render and if it's real high put a cap on it to keep some headroom.

I haven't bort the game but looking into it, potentially the largest possible nation could be US forming the United States of North America, annexing everything but Canada, then Canada annexes USNA forming the Dominion of America, meanwhile Australia forms the southern cross, uk then annexes southern cross, Dominion of America then south Africa into the commonwealth then lastly you murg the uk into the EU and then join the EU with the Eurasion Union or you could just download the United Nations mod

Four green arc laser corvettes in orbit do a pretty good job of keeping alien flora down, so you don't need to spend a councilor mission or nation IP's with army deployment. Also less annoying to redeploy on new operations after. I don't know if this works with IR lasers.

Hey I'm probably to late but if you want to make the biggest British empire possible, you want Australia to form the southern cross, and IDK if you now but Canada can annex the USA to form the Dominion of America which then should be able to be absorbed into UK

Regarding the high boost cost of Mercury... Mercury is WHIZZING around the sun, so it takes a lot of rocket energy (delta v) to get there, much more than Venus or Mars. So yeah, it's pretty accurate.
Humanity first: destroy the aliens.
Resistance: repel the aliens.
Academy: befriend the aliens.
Exodus: flee the aliens.
Protectorate: surrender to the aliens.
Servants: worship the aliens.
Initiative: *become the aliens*

I think there's no reason to cancel the alliance (aside from RP). it makes the AI overestimate its power and stuck in wars it cannot win.

Jupiter rush and the Mercury Dyson sphere strategy have been nerfed in multiple patches.

Why are you guessing MC cap? IIRC you can open the Region tab and see how many MC each region has. Also maybe split Russia? Siberian part can build up MC and come back intu Eurasian union. And since they won't be a colony anymore they'll have more MC cap

I like to obsolete and also star ⭐ tech I will MAYBE research in a few decades, and then of course just obsolete the junk I never plan to research.
Do show us your build of Habs & outposts/colonies for early & mid game, on energy efficient planents & on mars.. do you build defenses everywhere? do you spam nano? do you build skunkworks on earth interface?
