- The Hydra began this war under the naïve assumption that they were going to bomb us and no one was going to bomb them back.
It is time to thoroughly relieve them of that foolish notion.
Hydra technology was far superior to ours, but 9 billion minds honed and focused on the goal of survival are a formidable thing, and now it's time for the students to become the masters.
We've deployed phasers, resolving the range issues faced by the Hydra's own weapons. We've joined them in mastering plasma technology, while developing engines that exceed theirs in performance.
Now, we deploy the secrets of energy at its most concentrated, with the use of antimatter in propulsion and weapon systems. And more importantly - we know how to build at scales, and have the bodies to man the armada we are now required to build
It's time to scour our planet, and our system clean of the Hydra, and set the stage for one last operation.

I do love the distinction in lore between the Resistance playthrough and Humanity First one. The resistance certainly wants to fight the Aliens and secure the globe, but I half expect Hanse Castillo to start dedicating the war to the Emperor of Mankind and recite the Litanies of Hate.
It's also somewhat edifying to see my own ship designs vindicated by convergent design. Excellent progress on securing the system, commander.

It also really throws into contrast why, in the end, even the Resistance and HF would find themselvses at odds and willing to sabotage the other. To the Resistance, trying to genocide the aliens in their home system (about which we know nothing) using a bioweapon is an insane move; both morally and strategically. You could never guarantee you really wiped out the aliens, and the remaining ones would forever consider you an existential threat; rivals and perpetual war would always be a possibility. Best just to drive the aliens off, harass them, close their wormhole - make ourselves too prickly to be worth occupying.
Humanity First, meanwhile, would never countenance closing the wormhole - it would mean giving up the opportunity to strike while the aliens had yet to realize the trap they'd put their tentacles in.
And founding a base with Marines on it on the Titan...
Honestly HF seems like the most reasonable faction.

So from what I gather, the pion torch is not intended to be used as a standard drive due to its inane antimatter cost. However, [SPOILERS]
The pion torch is marked as an interstellar capable drive, which I imagine makes it an important engine for the project exodus victory condition.
I don't really want to spoil their victory condition to myself but from purely a logistics point of view I shudder just thinking about the amount of antimatter required to propel a whole colony fleet transporting thousands to millions of people to another star. It takes like 50 tons of antimatter just for one lightly armored ship to get to the other side of the solar system. Also you can't refuel the damn thing in another star system without extensive high-end antimatter-producing infrastructure so if one system is unsuited for colonization then you would still be stuck there. :D

Using a ballpark figure of 45 AU for the trip to Makemake, a 37-day transit time puts Max's peak velocity at something like 1.3% of the speed of light (~4,200 km/sec).

And then in something like 2 weeks burn more energy than all hunanity used during it's existence just to get a couple of blokes across the solar system fast and in style.
And that is how corruption kills armies.
Of course the alien threat level at this point would be permanently Max'd out.

Perun probably knows this, but as a FYI.
Every hit has a chance to go through armor based on how much armor is chipped off (seen as armor integrity). If you have 98% armor integrity, there is a 2% every hit will just hit internal. If the roll is not made, damage calculates through armor as normal which is also how armor is chipped.
This means no matter how armored, damage will eventually go through if hit enough times.

I can't seem to remember which story it come from, sorry, but he does have 158 one shots and like 30 series. Some are themselves +100 episodes long. And as far as I can tell none of them are under 5 minutes each.

I did the maths. Using the Pion torch drive to get from Earth to Makemake in 5.23 weeks would make your average trip speed approximately 0.5% c

19:15 electronic countermeasures apply only when missile hits the ship and it rolls if it fails to blow up, they dont cancel them at range. At least that's what I read in shipbuilding discord. When my aliens reduced the amount of missiles they were using, or if you have good enough pd that missiles dont even get close to you, I think you can switch ECM for something else. At least I didn't see any change in amount of missiles getting to my ships when I did that.

How exactly is it calculated? I've seen costs all over the place that don't seem terribly correlated with GDP, like I noticed that it's cheaper to invest in the US than Mexico in my game.

Playing servants is easy even for me, aliens help you all the time. Playing as protectorate not so much tho - aliens doesnt help you and even harm sometimes by stealing your stuff, and aliwn nation is still a mess for you and earth.

Servants is a good choice for a professional Streamer/TH-camr who's never played the game before. Academy is probably the toughest and best to watch someone play who is really good at the game, say after they utterly demolish the aliens as Humanity First.

And what I find funny is that it's the common theme among Sci-Fi. Be that the world of Star Trek, or every X-com like game that TI is technically representing, and FTL has humans learning skills faster than others.
Xenonauts [spoilers] even made it the reason why aliens attacked, as they wanted to enslave humans and be the creative and quickly adapting part of the empire. Unfortunately for aliens, humans proved to be too adaptive.

It's all about intention. if you just passively observe, you cool, if you come in unarmoured ship to greet us to galactic community, that's better... but if you crashland to disguise your infiltration, and then build military ships on our doorstep that's a cause for a concern.
I hope the next playthrough is the Accademy. Both because they seem like a really interesting problem to solve (and I need ideas for my run), and because a Utopia Accademy playthrough would be a welcome dose of wholesome among *gestures at the world*
When this run is over I'd love to see one or all of Academy, Exodus, or Servants run (maybe servants last so that the Human AI's have the most polish on them possible?)

Perun is truly becoming the Emperor in this HF run, LOVE IT! The Pion torch is a meme/rookie trap, but makes for one hell of a drive for ONE badass ship or fleet if you have the dyson spheres down (Mercury + Venus are good candidates for AM production thanks to solar farms)...add some nice spikers and you can cram so much armor and armament onto titans/dreadnoughts it breaks the AI and they just try to huddle in a death-ball fleet - makes it easier to decapitate them in one strike...thanks for showing me the game & how to play it Perun! All Hail the Australian Emperor!

I've been assaulting many alien stations in my playthrough with Dreadnoughts and Titans and I'm finding that the angles are acute enough to let the stations score radiator hits on tin droplet radiators fairly frequently, as well as hit the side armor past the armored prow.

I love the themes for the titans: counsellors, continents, commonwealth.
The most crazy thing about this playthrough is the fact that this is only 2040. I felt that I had a pretty damn good game as Initiative (Servants never got to research Hydra Diplomacy) but it took me almost 10 years longer to reach this point (titan fleets with top tier drives + armament) in the space warfare aspect of the game.
Mopping up all the alien bases and fleets to reach the 25% marker for enemy fleet assets is getting a bit tedious.
I think it's safe to assume that's a reference. This game is saturated with subtle references and homages to SO much scifi, and it's amazing.

There’s a terrifying thought. Imagine the aliens waiting as the marines cut though the hatches. The hatch drops. Nothings there, then in a rising crescendo of rage and feathers a horde of Emus comes pouring through… there are no survivors.

With the titan MC base way out in saturn, the quote about the transmission time had me thinking that MC cost should be determined by distance between source and MC using object. Would encourage integrating MC into all bases, and increase the difficulty of using the "turtle around mercury" strategy to transition into the outer planets.
Remember mercury is the closest planet to all the other planets on avg cpg grey(ugh) did a pretty good video on it
With that pion engine at 2gs constant acceleration, you can reach alpha centauri (closest star system to earth) in 5.2 years, with an acceleration burn of 1.15 years and decelaration burn of 1.15 years, you may have noticed that this does not add to 5.2 years, that's because since you will reach 98% the speed of Light, relativistic effects will make the person piloting the ship have a subjective travel time of only 2.3 years, effectivelly traveling into the future.
So i guess that if the alien star system is close enough, the Humans don't even need that wormhole in the first place, hahahaha.
it's humanity first, if the thing is going to the aliens' home world it's not gonna slow down.

Hmm, I'm very sure it is in fact possible to retract those radiators on the titans, just needs an intact heatsink. No radiator I tried wasn't retractable given the presence of a heatsink.

7am for you. It's like 1am my time and I haven't had a decent bedtime since this series started.
The amount of damaged radiators is beyond coincidence or "rare chance" at this point, likely due to how wide the stations are. Anyway, perhaps it would be sensible to angle the outer most ship ever so slightly towards the centre of the enemy station so that they do not show as much of their sides to the edge-most mounted defences? Or slow down the drift even more before entering firing range.
As I understand it, the angle of the ship doesn't matter and there's a flat percentage chance to destroy extended radiators on any hit based on the type of radiator. I'm not sure what the exact value for Tin Droplet is but it's in the low single digits I believe. So with the volume of fire those titans are receiving, statistically several of them will lose their radiators in every station battle, like we're seeing. The solution is to retract them when a ship starts taking fire and rely on having enough heat sink capacity to last until the end of combat. It's a bug that ships with destroyed radiators don't explode at the end of combat and can go back and get repaired, so Perun should actually be taking heavy casualties on his titans with each engagement because of this.
