Love to see this partnership between Microsoft and Cisco. We always want to see vendors collaborating to bring value like this for their enterprise clients.
Great video thanks for sharing. I followed your steps and everything worked perfectly! I have one question though. When I switched the desktop pro into MSTeams mode I noticed when I connect my laptop using USB C cable the resolution looks poor. The majority of the time I use my desktop Pro is just to extend my monitors at my workstation. Any ideas on how to get a crisper image when connecting a laptop for duel monitor? Thanks.
Thank you! Glad it worked!! You bring up a GREAT question because I had the exact same encounter. Not really sure if there is fix but I'll ask around and let reply back if there is.
Hi there! Based on Cisco's site, it appears only select models can do this. I don't see the non-pro version of Room Kit on their list: www.webex.com/us/en/solutions/microsoft-teams-rooms-cisco-devices.html
I have a Cisco Webex Room Kit, with software verion ce 9.12.2 dbcdd81ba03 2020-04-06 5:10 i just followed your steps, when I clicked "Reset call service to Webex", it rebooted but there was no auto software upgrade. Any ides? Thanks
Hmm... interesting. Is there a good internet connection on it? I'd check that, and maybe do a factory reset, then the reset to Webex, making sure wifi link is good. Let us know.
Hi, I believe the MTR OS is only available for specific models mentioned in the link in the video description (needs to be a Room Kit Pro in your case). No idea if Cisco will go back and do older models, but would be nice if they did! If the model you have is the Pro version, then you likely need to sign up for the Webex Beta Program, as the MTR OS is not publically released just yet as far as I know.
Excited to find this video as I was in a very similar situation. Followed all the steps but I get this slightly different screen for the cannot connect and then no “software update required” screen only back to the hello 😢
Ok I had some time finally and managed to sort it out. The unit I had was on CE9.15.x and it seems the Webex web registration system can’t upgrade it as it’s too old and needs RoomOS/CE 10.x. I managed to find a site with a 10.1 image and upgraded it using the web UI of the device locally (just type in the IP address of the unit to access with Admin and no password as default). Once I got it on 10.x I did the same as this and it upgraded to latest.
@@mdjukes Hi friend, could you share with us the site where you found version 10.1 of RoomOS? I have the same case, thank you very much for your contribution.
I have a two DX70 and one dx80 units. The two dx70 units have special OS like systems running them. This is different from a "standard" cisco "OS" that I am use to on these items. So, the question is... is there a base OS from Cisco that I can wipe and bring the basic screens I am use to? Thanks for any help. Great videos btw
Thanks! I wish ... from what I can tell, the desk pro is pretty much the only 'personal device' that this can be done with. The official site has a list of MTR compatible devices, and no mention of DX' www.webex.com/solutions/microsoft-teams-rooms-cisco-devices.html
@@CollaborationSimplified DX70 & 80 at one time were capable of running Android OS. This OS is now depreciated and you're better off to upgrade the units to the latest CE 10 or 11 version.
Do you lose Webex join functionality if registering the device to MS Teams? We use Webex and our other brands use Teams. Trying to find a way to have a seamless join experience for both solutions on our Room Kits. Unfortunately, the Teams Guest Direct Join feature does not allow screen share.
Hello, I didn't test this scenario - but one feature of these devices is that they can dual register to both Webex and Microsoft. That may be a bit costly but will ultimately allow you to have native join experiences on both platforms.
Hi, I’m in the same situation than you I lived Cisco and my Deskpro is the best, in my new company we have Microsoft teams, I’m trying to install but I need admin privileges, the admin for the company say me that teams room is identity rooms that the people can use and can confuse my collegues when they try to schedule it, are there any way to your room are not published or cannot be available for anyone less me? Or another way to include with out admin permisions jejeje. Many thanks in advance. Regards
Hi Bernardo, thank you for your question! I see you posted it in our support forum as well, which is perfect. I answered it there - groups.google.com/g/collaborationsimplified/c/c7Og_MLN-wE/m/fgdiO27rAQAJ
Hello, not that I know of, but best to check with Cisco as well. MTRs do support phone numbers so you can also use them as a conference room phone - that may be an alternative.
AFAIK, this is it. It covers both the Cisco and Microsoft side. From a Microsoft Teams Room (MTR) config perspective, you can find those details here: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/rooms/rooms-deploy
Very helpful content and simple steps. One query, does exempting MFA for the resource account, setting password never expires are mandates for this setup too or can we keep MFA and pwd asis .. cause security teams dont want to have this risk.. despite only using MTR licensing...pls advice if you see this msg...tq
Hi there, great question. I believe your question would apply to all Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTRs) and not just this particular Cisco endpoint. There are a variety of methods used to secure these devices, mainly via conditional access, Intune, and yes the p/w can be set to not expire. Here is a doc with more info on the p/w portion: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/rooms/create-resource-account?tabs=m365-admin-center%2Cgraph-powershell-password#turn-off-password-expiration and you can find other related docs in this guide on how to further secure MTRs.
Hi Ron, great to hear from you! I think the Desk Pro from 2019 is the furthest back we'll get. Someone was asking me if they could use their EX90!! :) That would be awesome!
Quick Question - What type of Microsoft 365 Licience does this need? I have MS365 Personal and it wont register due to (what I assume ) is an account issue, as Teams isnt actually part of MS365 Family License..(doh!) Do I need Microsoft Teams Essentials, Microsoft 365 Business Basic or Microsoft 365 Business Standard..? many thanks!
@@CollaborationSimplified Ah - So I'd need to add to my MS365 Personal account both Microsoft Teams Essentials (or Business Basic?) and Microsoft Teams Rooms Basic (or Microsoft Teams Rooms Pro?) - so about $25 pcm? Is that right..? Sorry for my ignorance on all things Microsoft..!
Hello Sir, I factory reset my Cisco Room Kit Model: TTC7-23 and there is no firmware update downloaded, nor do I get the option to install MS Teams Rooms OS. Is there a workaround to manually update the firmware?
Hi, have you been able to determine if that particular model supports MTR? Cisco has these models listed: www.webex.com/us/en/solutions/microsoft-teams-rooms-cisco-devices.html
I have a Cisco desk, and according to Cisco, it’s not compatible. There’s so many reasons I dislike Cisco, and how they have retired. Good devices is absurd. The reason they did it? Was the force companies to buy a new equipment. Well, my company won’t do that now because of how they failed to make equipment backwards compatible. The equipment runs fine with Cisco Webex, but I refuse to believe it’s a hardware compatibility issue. It’s a money issue.
