So here's a specific use case and question regarding use of copilot in MS Word. At the end of 2024, I had to complete annual performance reviews for nearly 50 employees. The template is in Word and has up to 20 different sections and subsections to complete. Now, I was able to get copilot to "review" the template and all it's sections and return fairly decent suggestions for each. However, I then had to copy and paste the copilot text into each subsection. Easy enough, but left me wishing copilot could've filled in each section automatically. I then honed the text to what I really wanted. Anyone else able to get copilot to fill in a Word template without a lot of copying and pasting? Thank you.
Hi there, this is a great use-case for Copilot. I've also used it to help with performance reviews and it saved me a lot of time. I do believe there is no direct path for your scenario and it is as you described (unless someone else has other info). However, what you may be able to do is take this process away from Word and to Copilot Chat. For example, if you go to Copilot Chat and paste all the sections/subsections and then ask it to fill them out based on your performance review criteria and other data (that you can attach as docs), it should then fill everything out in the right place. Then you can copy/paste the Copilot chat output into word (or edit it in Pages). You may still need to do some formatting, adjustments in Word but it's a potential workaround until this is built into Word in the future. Great question!

Need some help. Is this normal? I can see the bookmark button when I click into View prompts. But going further into Copilot Lab, the bookmarks button isn't there on any suggest prompt even if I hover. And historical chats also don't show the bookmark button (despite being in Work mode). I was using it in the web (I have Copilot for M365, in Asia).

You're right! The only other things I'm thinking could be happening are 1. Browser compatibility (try different browsers), 2. Possibly not out in your geo or tenant yet

It would be fantastic if you were to make a video centred around how you can use copilot within the leadership of schools. Im a headteacher in a special school in england and have, up until now, used chat gpt but am keen to understand how copilot can offer more functionality across the various 365 apps.
Oh no! Probably my favorite feature. Are you logged in to the Work tab, using Copilot for M365 and where are you located? You can also try accessing via Copilot lab copilot.cloud.microsoft/en-US/prompts
with the copilot update, where one no longer can select copilot's mode (creative, balanced, precise) the experience is terrible. that update is really a downgrade.
Copilot is not as good as a human assistant in real time and should not be relied upon for business decisions. Copilot's information is limited and therefore should be cross-checked with other sources. Copilot is in its early stages and should not be relied upon to deliver information to be used in decision-making. One cannot trust that the information provided by an AI assistant is factual.
As of today (1/15/2025) you can also access Copilot Chat without a subscription. We just added a pay as you go model: www.cnbc.com/2025/01/15/microsoft-launches-consumption-based-microsoft-365-copilot-chat.html

possible to do custom prompt with copilot - much like custom 'my gpts"?
Hello, yes this is possible. You can create detailed custom prompts to fine tune knowledge sources, dates ranges, and more.

For sure! Make sure you're using Copilot for Work, not personal. That's where you'll find them all.
