Good to see that HKS kept all of their cars and didn't let that many go to waste. It shows pride in the company. Reminds me of thr Subaru vault that the Hoonigans went to.
So great to see this kind of content, especially since I`m not sure I`ll ever have the opportunity to make it to Japan. Gives a great insight into their heritage and what they`re involved with, truly amazing.
Only HKS part I have bought was the HKS sport exhaust for my wife's 04 wrx. Love the sound and how it opens up at higher RPMs. Not crazy loud either, would definitely buy another exhaust from them.
Fitted an HKS GT2 SC to my ZN6 last week. Quality of the materials and manufacture is outstanding and it fits like it's OEM. Totally transformed the performance and using stock airbox and exhaust so no noise or emissions problems. Thanks for another great video Sam 👣💥👍
WOW Sam you have done what no one has been able to do as a jdm fan from the early 2000 seeing all those iconic cars and the tour of the the site is truely amazing i hope they give you more access to show the quality of their product in production. its a whole other level and they have always been one of the best. thank you HKS for lettign Sam go inside ❤
Thanks for the flash back for an ‘old’ aussie subsriber. Born same date as you in 71. My family had a Datsun/Nissan/subaru dealership in the 80’s. We were a HKS dealer at the time. My dad drove and 280zx with hks turbo and mum drove an r29 skyline liftback also with an HKS turbo. I only wish I new how special this period was and kept something/anything from the period.
So glad I got to see the CT230R in it's old livery and driveline (WTAC) and the Drag R33 (Jamboree) driven in anger. The TRB-01 is something which is probably more in line with current WTAC PRO CLASS cars. Absolutely legendary HKS machines
HKS IS all day long, paused everything for this haha, didn't realise the Bi-Fuel Evo used to be the red version though that's super cool. What an awesome place!
Hey Sam, @ 1:49 you asked "Is this an Opel" Yes it is. These cars were the GM2900 platform under the General Motors umbrella badged as Opel Vectra, Vauxhall Vectra, and In Australia and New Zealand Holden Vectra. In the US, this platform was reworked as the Saturn L-Series (L-200/L-300). So, for you, that would be a Holden Vectra.
Id almost say the redtop C20 engine was europes SR20 for a long time, used to get swapped into everything from astras, corsas, calibras, then rwd application in oval racing, rally, drift! Made good power and cosworth helped in the head design!
Goood vid man, it was great to see some behind the scenes action in their factory. legends in the game, nice opportunity you and May there.some of the builds looked peng mate! cheers for the look around and thank you to those at HKS. :)
It’s cool to see how all these Japanese tuning companies tried their hand in Formula 1. Nowadays it takes a boardroom of 100+ people and 10 years to develop a racing program.
That white Aristo slicktop (21:50) next to the swift was perfect. I wish I had the money to build one that clean and use all the top parts like I know they did.
@@steviez28 could buy a gs until you save up for a aristo, that's what I did. I've got a silver 05 gs300 but wish it had the gte motor so much. The regular 2jzge really needs about 100 more hp then it would be so much better
The Opel is a Vectra. It's a Super Touring car - or Class II touring car - which was an FIA touring car formula used across the world through most of the 1990s. 2.0-litre normally aspirated engine (around 300bhp), sequential transmission etc etc. Shame you didn't look under the bonnet, they're beautifully built cars. They competed in Australia too, but not sure the Vectra ever took part (would have been under the Holden banner if so)
What an amazing video today is not only to see hks factory but to know the history behind it too Can’t wait to see more this type of content and keep it up Sam 😊😊
Great video!! I used to work for a company back in the 90s called Alamo Motorsports we were based in San Antonio Texas with locations around the United States and we were one of the first wholesale distributors for HKS in the United States. Thank you for the video it brought back great memories for my younger racer days. I remember all the cars you filmed because they were used in all the HKS catalogs we used to sell the HKS parts
Awesome video as always Sammit. HKS is such a awesome company they make some of the best parts on the market. Sammit and HKS collaborations with special Sammit print on the can would be so awesome and so sick.
'97 Opel Verctra is what you saw, they are actually really cheap to come by in Europe. They come FWD from the factory. I really wonder what they did with it build wise.
It was an ex- BTCC Car that HKS bought and used in JTCC. Only resembles the look of a vectra pretty much completely custom under the shell for BTCC. HKS had a cavalier too and later after the vectra retired for a few years until they came back with the mercedes.
Back in the late 90s when u was in high-school. Autoshop class we rebuilt a farm truck engine freshmen year, switched it over to LPG. My senior year he brought it in with 60k miles on the rebuild and let us tear it down. Engine looked brand new inside.
The Skyline R33 drag race spec car was in Gran Turismo 2 and you had a 33% chance of winning it at the Tune Turbo Car No. 1 Cup. The Opel is the 2nd gen Opel Vectra which was mainly a 5th gen Honda Accord body with Opel drive train and interior and exterior bits made for the UK, Ireland, Austrailia, and New Zealand. If you look at the tail lights, those are 5th gen Accord sedan taillights.
Heehee, I really like the P10 roadster design they came up with. It looks kinda like TVR made something inspired by an Aston Vantage. (On one of their more restrained days) :) I wonder if the Cappucino chassis makes it excessively-teeny but it's very appealing. Maybe needs just a touch more detail to do with the taillights, but I'm really impressed a tuning company had that design talent around. :) Anyway, some cool stuff there, thanks to you guys and your hosts! :)
You mentioned seeing us in australia modifying skyline headlights for cooling, theres a couple of places in sydney now with complete 3d printed designs that almost all of our skyline drag cars use
I’m 37 and feel old by buddy not remembering first Grand Tourismo ….did you even play it…those games made these JDM legends. It’s like you need to know the history
You'll never have the chance to own an actual early HKS prototype car but you can always build your own replica HKS car to pay homage to one of the greatest RnD car parts manufacturers. HKS is definitely one of the top 3 longest and biggest car development companies. They have helped racing and overall the whole car scene in general.
Damn, I used to install so much HKS, Apex'i and Greddy stuff brought in from South Korea in the late 90's. What a great time! First 99 Prelude SH turbo here with 98 model Greddy shit. Auto trans sucked! For those of you that don't know, aquarium check valves are how we tuned before good map sensors.
8:49 It's a shame many are too young to remember the significance of the infamous HKS TRB-01.😤 This Altezza has a stroked and boosted BEAMS 3S-GE with the dual VVT-i deactivated, producing around 650 WHP. The supras where using the 3SGTE variant tuned to about 490WHP. Some debate they used a 503e, Toyota engine depending on the team. Hey Sam, I love the content. I've been watching for a while and I've noticed a lot of your handheld videos are pretty shaky. I am not sure if anyone else has these issues, but I get a bit of motion sickness when I watch some of the more "blog" style vids. I don't know what you use to shoot the videos on but I know DJI makes some cool gimbals that helps with that kind of stuff. The Osmo works pretty well for mounting a phone on. 3:43 I remember having trouble passing this car and the HKS 180sx drag car in gran turismo 2
Man i'm in love with that Opel Vectra. Definitely one of Opels top 5 coolest cars
I can hear Tommy crying from jealousy in the States.
😂 facts
He’s a teabag anyway
Tommy watching this and crying while playing with himself using his tears as lubricant
Tommy probably wears HKS pajamas to bed every night. Hahaha
Crying about the $180,000 he owes Ian

So cool to see Hks's JTCC Opel Vectra still with the livery from 1997!!
Sam, the Opel is a Vectra and i belive that he raced in the BTCC in the mid 90's. We have this generation Vectra in Brazil under the Chevrolet brand

@hks thank you for letting @sammit show us this beautiful facility you have, 2 very big icons in my life getting together is mind blowing 👌
That car was a front-wheel drive Opel Vectra. We have these here in Europe. Love from Portugal 😅
Thank you for touring HKS HQ for us. I'm glad I bought a 4L HKS Super Oil Premium 5w30 Full Syn. I love the container and keep it as a trophy.

HKS is a legendary company. I am however surprised they are not doing more, they seem to be stuck in time.
Their latest motto would disagree. "Tune the next".
Great to see such incredible cars 🔥🔥🇬🇧
