      I love manuals and I plan on getting this as my first car. However, I gotta be honest here, the rear section of the cabin doesn’t surely get the same treatment as the front. Forget about the red accentuated upholstery and the absence of rear AC vents or USB slots for charging, the center console (which doesn’t have anything mentioned above) seems really plastic-y, simple and cheap. What are your thoughts on that?
      PS - I do have a Honda back home and I love it. I could definitely ignore the rear section and get on with it. But I guess they should improve it.

      I've had a lot of rear passengers in my 24 si. Nobody has complained, yes its sad they dont have the option, but its not as big a deal as you probably think. if you really want to give them usb ports, you can get an extender from the front port.
      Other than that, it gets plenty cool / warm back there and ive been told the seats are very comfortable and roomy. No complaints yet.@rohitchanda8461

      @@rohitchanda8461yeah I noticed that after the fact. The seats were a dead giveaway when I bought it because they stood out but the door panels with the flat black instead of the gloss black was a let down. I plan down the road to take the door panels off and maybe try to paint those pieces glossy black just to give it some kind of continuity.

    I feel like the car is appropriate for the money. It’s a great alternative to a Type R if you’re on a budget and want a more sportier driving experience than the regular civics.
    I think the power is adequate for what it is. I think Honda assume people buying this is going to be commuting but wanted a more fun commuting experience.

      appropriate for the money?? LMAO fck no its not.
      They took all this away from it while the 10th gen has all of this
      - 5 More HP
      - Shift lights
      - Fog Lights
      -Heated Seats
      -Dual zone climate
      - Adaptive Dampers
      - A real sport mode button that actually does something (with full red accent lighting)
      - A full digital center cluster
      - A temperature gauge (LMFAO)
      - More aggressive and better looking"
      All while costing thousands of dollars less LMAO. The 11th Gen is a joke and you're a sucker if you bought one considering you paid over $13,000 more for a car with way less features than the 10th.

    I had a ‘22. It was very nice and quite enjoyable. It was way underpowered, but its suspension was sharp. The shifter was butter, and the fuel economy was beyond impressive; I consistently got 37/38 mpg’s. I got a crazy offer from a dealer a year ago and decided to part ways with the Si. I’m now in a ‘13 wrx that I bought off my college buddy, who was the original owner and kept it all stock. I definitely miss the Si at times, and if my wrx dies someday , maybe I’ll buy an Si again.

    • @Roopaloooop
      @Roopaloooop หลายเดือนก่อน

      I feel that my 2024 shifter is less than buttery. Some days it feels like it goes right in some days it feels like it struggles. Not so much as grinding but very clunky. I'm wondering if the first 80 miles were driven hard and made it that way. I don't know I've only driven this car so far but I need to drive another one to see if it feels the same.

  • @Beepitybopp

    I traded in my ‘22 Civic SI for a ‘24 GLI 40th, only because I drove the piss out of the civic in my 1.5 years of ownership (40k+ miles) and took a remote job so wanted something fresh in the garage. While the Jetta has a descent bump in power, the civic trumps it just about everywhere else. Interior is of better quality, handles better, rev match is brilliant with a perfect shift every time, hill start assist is ‘intelligent’ and releases brakes when clutch is engaged (Jetta is about a 2 second hold no matter the scenario - which coincidentally makes taking off on a steep hill about 10x more difficult) brake hold button (keeps the brakes held whenever you come to a stop - think drive thru or sitting in stop and go traffic. Once you come to a stop and put in neutral it will automatically hold until you take off again, without having to pull / release park brake over and over again), BOSE audio system is phenomenal & underrated in my opinion - by far the best quality sound system I’ve heard in a vehicle.. plus it looks awesome and averaged 33 MPG on WV country roads.
    Some complaints -
    rev hang is frustrating, especially when rowing through the gears
    My ‘22 had the sticky steering at highway speeds but apparently that’s been addressed
    Paint is soft as baby shit. Definitely suggest getting a paint protection film on front bumper / hood for rock chips
    200HP engine leaves you wanting more

    Extra points: got the canadian spec with full digital cluster, fog lights, front rear heates seats, heated steering wheel, wireless charging.

    2017 si here. Gets much higher mpg than advertised. Easily hits over 50 mpg on highway. But that comes with injectors that will fail around 50k. Do it yourself for about $200. Also, if you ever get crazy dash errors like vsa, break assist, stability control, etc, could just be a bad maf/iat sensor.

    Remember this: Honda's 2.0 turbo was designed from the ground-up for performance (strengthened internals, etc.). The 1.5 Turbo was designed from the ground up for economy (low-friction components, including connecting rods, pistons etc.) . When you push more horsepower out of the 1.5 Turbo, it comes at a cost - longevity vs the 2.0 turbo.

    We had an '18 SI that was a wonderful car and I was getting 35-37mpg mixed driving. However, it had MAJOR oil dilution issues (well over the oil full line after only 1-2k driving) even though we live in Arizona, I never drove it hard and I drove a lot on the highway to get the oil temp up. When I called Honda, they said unless the car was stalling or having warning lights, they weren't going to help out. It was very disappointing to hear since I really loved the car otherwise. I also disagree that this Si is more fun than the current WRX. Last generation was no question, the VA’s awful factory tune made the 10th gen Si objectively more fun to drive. But now that Subaru figured out how to properly tune a car without ridiculous rev hang, I would argue that the VB is the better car.

    It definitely needs some updates, a little more horsepower 230 would be enough to make it where it should be, and keep the type R owners happy, how much would it cost to put driving lights in they get them in Canada, heated seats would be a nice touch by the way, that’s how it is in Canada and keep the price about where it’s at but for the kind of money they’re asking you can get a lot more car is it a better car maybe not but how many people keep a car 10 years if you’re only keeping a car 3 to 5 years any car out there we go that long. I looked at SI and Just was not impressed with the performance. the shifter was suspension felt good and handling. Although now on the forums, I hear they have some kind of issue with their steering box not sure why everybody’s trying to make less power and the other companies that aren’t afraid of more power I think we’re gonna win. Test drove a Kia k5 GT which out the door was 2k more and although not a fan of Kia cars it was very impressive interior, features, and 290hp. Would Honda be better long term yea I would think but if your getting a new car every 3-5 years it doesn’t matter :)

    Great review man, I'm looking at getting one of tbese in the next few weeks and im excited. Just a quick rant though - i hate and find it so annoying whrn review videos say that "200 hp isnt fast." Since when? Its so annoying because reviewers test all kinds of cars and yes obviously the civic si wont be as fast as a bmw m5 or a porsche 911, but why do people pretend 200 hp is something to scoff at and is considered slow? Put someone in a nissan versa with 130 hp and they wont be able to tell how "slow" it is. Idk, idk if that makes sense, just annoying. Its even worse in moyorcycle review videos

    • @Realistick
      @Realistick  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s definitely a car to be excited about so here’s my preemptive congrats 🎉. It can get annoying when people get fixated on 200 hp when the car is just 30k, but before slamming some reviews, remember that it is a sport sedan. People are going to be critical over the performance. If the article/video finishes and they say it’s too slow to compete, THEN id say it’s bs. After all, the SI isn’t about numbers, it’s about abundant yet sensible fun!

    • @IamSeasons562
      @IamSeasons562 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Realistick i understand, being marketed as a "sports" sedan/car definitely has its implications. I currently have an 04 is300 and have had it for over 10 years. It has ~217 hp (probably less since cars lose power as they get older) and it feels fast enough for me, faster than pretty much any other normal car on the road, so for me ~17 less horsepower is not going to make me think im riding a snail, if that makes sense. I just think that people are too obsessed with numbers on paper, as you stated in the review
