  • A full recap of Morgan's Story.
Morgan is a 7 year old camelot macaw who currently belongs to my friend Patty, whom asked me to free flight train Morgan back in January. It took 4 months to do way more than that and you can read about Morgan's history here; www.birdtricksstore.com/blogs....
Morgan's entire playlist can be found here if you want to watch her journey from day 1: • Bringing Home a New Bi...
Jamieleigh is available for one on one consultations and sells her bird training materials through her website at www.BirdTricksStore.com. If you enjoy this free content on TH-cam, please consider supporting us through our website, as well as sharing, commenting and liking our videos.
And yes, when one of her previous owners found out we were in Moab free flying her, they came out of the wood work threatening to "steal" Morgan from where we were staying and threatening to sue us for "exploiting" her. It only took this owner an entire year to want this bird back... and 4 months of following her progress on TH-cam to realize her worth. Shame on you, you know who you are.

Wauw you have so much empathy! You understand without talking and that's why you are so perfect as a bird trainer! The psychology to make a bird so confident and more happy is such a great thing to give to an animal! I'm happy this world has people like you! Best wishes from Holland.

I thought about why people know you so well just because of your videos. I think it is because training and owning parrots is your passion and it brings out the best in you and especially the interaction with the birds shows how you are. The rest is easy to guess

You have given Morgan an healthy identity, instead of her disabled foot identity. You give this majestic bird her happiness back of just being a bird with your patience/ respect/ love( empathy) and common sense.
That is what I see when you work with this bird, as if it is one of your own, by give her the trust she can do it no matter how long it takes.
Your own positive energetic soul helped her to come out of her shell, that is how animals react when you give them trust/ patience/ respect and empathy (love). You can 'read' them, I think you visualise what you want the bird to do, she received that and reacts to it, animals respond when you visualise.
That's how animals communicate, that's the reason why it worked out perfect with you and Morgan and all other birds, visualise what you want from the animal.
With lots of Love and compassion from the Netherlands 🤗

As a leg amputee, it really touched my heart to hear you say that her handicap didn't matter, that it couldn't hold her back and that she could still achieve what she wanted. THIS is how I've lived my life as an amputee. THIS is what I try to teach new amputees. We are not handicap, we just do things in maybe a modified way but we CAN do them even if it takes us more time. I hope I can share this vid with new amputee friends and it will touch them as much as it inspires me. Great job Morgan!

idk... people with disabilities telling other disabled people that they can do anything is kinda, not it.
I CANT do anything. I can barely exist because of my disabilities. So this attitude just makes me feel worse. We need to accept being disabled isnt bad. That disabilities shouldnt have a stigma, and that not everyone can do anything~ and thats okay.

They're lawsuit claim would have been thrown out by a judge anyway. The videos of Morgan's training are educational for other parrot owners and potential parrot owners who might be interested in adopting a special needs parrot. Also Morgan wasn't suffering during her time with these folks.

Owners reason from another video on Morgan:
      Patty Jourgensen
This is Patty, Morgan's owner. I moved Morgan out of the garage because she had lost 14% of her body weight since we arrived in Idaho. That is an unacceptable weight loss even for a bird in training. Combining that with her very watery droppings, her sneezing and her shivering I moved her into a warmer environment (the garage is currently set at 55 degrees) for monitoring. Any one of those issues on their own would have sent up red flags and been reason to question Morgan's health. This is my first spring season with this bird and I am learning what might be typical for her and I am still watching her closely. Morgan was on the Birdtricks diet the whole time, (which I came up with, by the way) and I added more vegetables to her diet with the INTENTION of putting weight on her. When I brought her back into the garage she weighed in BELOW what Jamie and I had discussed to be her training weight and is not overweight in any way. I do not want her weight to go down lower than 10% at any point. This is why I stopped being part of the youtube training videos. People making judgements on topics they know nothing about.

My dad got a scarlet macaw when I was born. I started handling her when I was 10. He initiated the relationship. He was my buddy. When I got married we decided to donate him to the San Diego Children's Zoo. He wouldn't allow my dad to handle him anymore so we felt this was the best thing for him.
When we lived in Encinitas, Ca. He took flights into the eucalyptus trees near us and would occasionally fly off to visit our neighbor's chickens. He was so graceful. He use to ride on the handlebars of my bike and spread out his wings but he never flew away. His favorite thing was to chase my mom laughing at her. He also had quite a vocabulary!!! Thank you for this wonderful video that reminded me so much of my baby boy.

Birds aren't for everyone, and some birds aren't for certain people. It sounds like previous owners were not capable nor motivated to speak Morgan's language. It's beautiful to see a bird that's had so many people give up on her thrive with someone fully motivated to break through the bad habits. Good on you for treating Morgan like a bird, not a disability.

It must have been REALLY tough for Patty to let Morgan go for so long ... even to a highly skilled and experienced bird trainer. DAMN good job, so far beyond the regular abilities of even an experienced bird owner. What a truly wonderful story you two have woven together. On a more serious note, this was an excellent "summary" video of Morgan's story. Not just entertaining but truly educational.

I'm a bird lover who can't have one because of allergies and travelling but it is wonderful to live vicariously through your family of people and birds. What a wonderful passion, we should all strive to find such meaning in our lives. 😙🤩💘💘

Crying with you Jamie. I think we've all fallen in love with Morgan, you, and Patty while watching Morgan spread her wings. Thank you so much for sharing this journey. You have inspired me to work more with my bird. It's still a long way off but I hope to be able to flight train him too.

Watching you with the birds, especially Morgan, is empowering for us bird owners. You teach us that every hard case has a soft opening. When people can actually connect, when that connection clicks on both sides it’s amazing to feel it. Just wanted to say thank you. And I got teary too. I had that with my Arab. Onward and upward girl. So many more souls need to connect.

I’m a mess! I cried from start to finish. I followed Morgan’s progress from start to present.
The gift you gave to Morgan will see her through so many more phases in life and the bond I saw you share with Morgan was key to everything. She can now trust and love and fly free as she should. Well done and congrats! Sending love from Australia

I came into the Morgan series late, and didn't know much about birds. I was just starting to get interested in them. Seeing Morgan go from the hesitant bird she was then to the confidant creature she is now was amazing! As much as I wish I could do something like that with a bird I know that only someone like you, Jamieleigh, could have done something like this. You and Morgan are an inspiration to every bird owner or lover out there, your dedication to your birds goes beyond just what you're paid to do, you go above and beyond for these birds because you care. I want to say thank you, for letting us see this process, this transformation, even when you didn't have to show it, and for not giving up on such a beautiful creature. I hope that one day, once I have experience with other types of birds, I can find a macaw, or another large bird, to call my own, and that I will be able to freefly it one day, because you're right, these birds are truly gifted, and there is nothing more beautiful then a free bird.

WOW! what an amazing story! I've been watching her story over two days and I have to tell you I'm crying with joy! I've never had a bird but have trained dogs and cats and understand that bond. I've been blessed with the knowledge of how much birds can touch her soul. I love you both. Amazing, amazing amazing!!!! THANK YOU!

This whole series was so amazing. When I first came upon it, I didn’t think I’d become so invested in it. But each time, every new video, added a layer of importance and understanding for me. Some of the training videos didn’t even look like a “success”, Morgan was so hesitant and afraid. But you continued to encourage her. It was so evident that she learned how to do things because she liked for you to be so pleased with her. This was the kind of success story that you played out all the ups and downs, showing more than a lot of people would have wanted to show, even your personal less successful moments with Morgan. To call this video inspirational is hardly a strong enough term. You caught so much of the essence of bird to person interactions and how those interactions can change everybody’s life. So many people think “it’s just a bird” when they don’t understand or take the time to understand the language that goes on between you and Morgan. This is proof again, to me, that humans have so much to learn about the rest of the animals on this earth with us. And your video is proof positive that the language barrier between us isn’t NEARLY as much as most people think. In the beginning, I couldn’t have imagined what a huge impact this would have on me or that I’d see you break down and cry when trying to express your emotions. I was already crying by that point. Morgan is a lucky girl that her owner and you were willing to work so hard to help her out of her “prison” of fear to the point she could just fly free. I’m grateful that you allowed the rest of us to see and feel part of your journey together. Catherine

I’ve been following from almost the start of Morgan’s series, but honestly, I started watching because my cat found the colors and movements on the screen interesting 😂 She lost interest after the first couple of videos but I stayed. And I want to thank you. I didn’t know anything about birds, but you are so good at explaining everything that I suddenly realized I understood what Morgan was showing even before you told us in the video. And the part you said in this video about us getting you only through your bird training is because you invest so much of yourself in the relationship with her. Of course we don’t know you, but we sure got a good glimpse of who you are just by watching this series. And I think we all made room in our hearts for Morgan (and you). She deserves a life full of happiness. Thank you for this series.

Update: The cat enjoyed the Moab flights 😁 And yes, I changed what I was watching when she came and laid down in my lap, and clearly watching the screen. Of course, who doesn’t 🙄😆😁
