Selecting the clip and simply pressing "Shift-A" for custom animation is my favorite way of adding a custom animation. Saves me from having to move my cursor up to the left, opening up animations, selecting custom animation then dragging custom animation to the clip. Another favorite feature I love about Camtasia, is just being able to place the play head anywhere before or after the animation arrow (does not need to be exactly on the beginning or end of animation arrow) then setting the properties for the animation. Love Camtasia! Just as a side note, "Linear" is used for Windows and "None" is for Apple.
Thanks for clearing that up! I used Camtasia for MANY years on a PC before switching to Mac last year... that's why I keep calling it "Linear" lol!
Shift-A is definitely a quicker way to add an animation if that's what you're used to. I've just gotten so used to dragging it down from my Favorites tab that it's hard to stop doing it that way. I guess the difference is you have to make sure the clip is already selected before pressing Shift-A and that the cursor is over that clip. Once thing that would probably get me using that shortcut more is if there was also a shortcut for the "Restore" animation which I use almost as much as the custom animation :-)
And thanks for explaining the location of the playhead when manipulating animation properties. You're right, the playhead doesn't have to be exactly on the beginning or end of an animation arrow... just somewhere before or after it. Thanks for clarifying :-)
you are a great teacher
Many Thanks Rob for this detailed informative tutorial.
No problem! Glad you liked it :-)
animations + behaviors= excellent
Awesome much needed.... Thanks so much sir ❤🙏
You are the master!
Another great video thank you can you do a tutorial on how to do a musical slideshow with photos
I will add it to my list :-)
Why not produce a Camtasia 2024 course for udemy or linked learning? 🎉
It’s in the works ;)
thanks for such a great content as always. one small question : is it possible to record behaviour settings so i could reuse the same setting in many projects ?
Yes! You can save Behavior Presets... I'm working on a video to show you exactly how... should be ready for Monday :-)
Greetings, Rob, from Southern California! You were kind enough to reply to a question I asked on another video about trying to get a blur region (to cover a person's face) to move with the person and you said that using the motion path, as I had done, was the right idea. I just watched this and followed the link to your video on motion paths, and I think I have a *better* idea of how to control now. Still, could you perhaps do a video specifically on concealing a person's face in a video? First, is the localised blur region the best way? It seems to be so far, but maybe you have a better idea, or at least a different one for variety sake - perhaps a combination of elements can be added to the clip. Second, and more importantly, could you demonstrate how to have the blur follow the person as they move across the screen (or up and down, or…) while using the the fewest necessary points along the path? I expect that doing so would keep the motion as smooth as possible, and it would be easier to see which point you're working with at a given moment. I ended up with SO many points on the line that they were overlapping and I couldn't see well what I was doing. I suspect that adding the points in the timeline, like you did, instead of on the path in the viewing window, as I had done, will be at least part of the secret. I am certainly going to experiment on my own because such experimentation, I know (from using Adobe Creative Suite), is the best teacher in the end,; but I would be very grateful for any tips you might have to offer that could, if nothing else, inspire a particular direction of thinking and experimenting, not just for the video I am working on (still haven't had time to finish it), but in other projects where I might expand on the concept. Thank you again for your previous reply and I'll look forward to seeing whatever you might say here.
By the way, I would have posted this to the Motion Path video, but it was from 2 months ago and I'm not sure how much you get notified about comments posted to videos going into the past.
Sounds like a challenge to me! I think this would be quite difficult, especially if the blur has to happen for a long period of time... the longer the video clip, the longer it will take to edit the blur's motion path. But that said, it could be a useful demonstration for some people to see the process of how I'd go about it. I would not use "Blur Region" since that gets baked in to the video (allowing you to zoom in/out and pan, but have the blurred region remain blurred)... instead, I would use the Blur Annotation and use either the Motion Path OR the classic Animation effect to animate it... depending on the type of movement I need. And yes, you could potentially have a LOT of animations points, and the more you have the more accurate the animation will be. I will add this to my list... might be a good demonstration for a live stream ;-)
And I do get notified about ALL comments, regardless of how old the video is where you post it :-)
@@RobtheMaritimer OH, yes, the blur annotation is what I meant. Thank you for considering the idea!
Hello dear Rob I wonder how do you remove the background of your video while you wear a green T shirt , you are not using green screen right ? how do you do it ? Thanks for the great tutorials you make
Hello! Camtasia has a cool feature called "Background Remover" and it works even if you're wearing a green shirt. I made a video on it which you can see here: th-cam.com/video/eDT9iiEVX4M/w-d-xo.html
Such a good video, Rob. Thank you! :)
Unrelated question - if I want to do picture-in-picture (two clips) - I know how to do that... I scale Clip A small to put in the corner of Clip B.
The thing is... is there a way to zoom in Clip A but keep the size of the rectangle the same? I've tried and when I zoom, the entire rectangle gets larger.
I just want it to be like a mask? Or shape where I get larger, but the rectangle boundary's size doesn't change.
I'm not sure I'm making sense.
Thank you! :)
Thanks Ted! And yes, there's a way to do that. To zoom in "within" a scaled down video and maintain the same physical height and width, you first need to click the "crop" tool at the very top, above the canvas, putting you in crop mode. THEN you can scale within the scaled down video, as well as reposition the video if you've cropped in (or applied a mask). You can see me do this at about the 36:40 point of this video: th-cam.com/video/HEbo-Z1eyhk/w-d-xo.html
I hope that helps :-)
@@RobtheMaritimer Thank you for the help. It's appreciated!
Thanks - could you tell me where you got that blue strip light please? Thanks.
Sure! It's the Govee Lyra Floor Lamp and I got it from Amazon :-)
@@RobtheMaritimer great stuff, thanks!
Hi Rob, I´ve record with Camtasia record 9, but now the file .trec is corrupted and gives me the message "It is either an unsupported media type or required codecs are not found". Do you have any miracoulous solution? Thanks.
I searched for your error as I have not encountered it before... and found this article. If it doesn't help you should contact TechSmith support for addition help: support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/203729138-Cannot-Load-File-It-Is-Either-an-Unsupported-Media-Type-or-Required-Codecs-Are-Not-Found
Sir can we record animation in power point and add that video on another video in camtasia?
Although I don't use Powerpoint myself, my understanding i that if you import Powerpoint slides into Camtasia, and animations you did in Powerpoint would be lost. So I would not do animations in Powerpoint and would instead do all animations in Camtasia, after importing the slides as images. This way you can have much more control over the timing of the animations, particularly if you also want to sync audio voiceover to your video. If anyone out there is a Powerpoint user, feel free to chime and... and correct me if I'm wrong ;-) I hope that helps :-)
@@RobtheMaritimer Thank you sir
