I'm "Rob the Maritimer", and I make videos and host live streams on helping you reach your goals on TH-cam! I talk about all the different software and skills I use to create my videos and will even demonstrate how to edit them! Totally agree, 64 years old making my living on TH-cam with 148,000 subscribers. Who would have thought.
That's awesome if you don't mind me asking how much you make off your channel?
Subscribed😊
Thanks for sharing! Very inspirational :-)
I tip my hat to you, Sir.
This is so inspiring! Thank you!
I am 47 years old and just started this week on TH-cam. Your words have given me more strength and determination to push forward. Thank you so much.
Thank you and best of luck with your new channel!
I'm 46! Woo hoo! I started mine in May right before my 46th Birthday.
I will be 47 in September. I have been watching youtube videos on different topics about starting a channel over a year, and I am still blocked and can't figure out what to create!! I am so frustrated due also to my situation, I am broke, lost my job past year because of my born out and depression, I am alone and have a son who is nearly 16. And I come from Romania. What to talk about on a youtube channel, when all my life I read books. Thousands. I am editor and proofreader. Any advice from you, dear people?
I love this video it’s the first I’ve seen on your channel.. I agree but you have inspired me 0:56
Make it about the books you read! Also about Romanian life. Also maybe about being broke and starting a TH-cam channel! I would subscribe
Don’t forget the aspect of loneliness. These people might only have you as a “friend “. As sad as that sounds
I think an important point is that as people over 40, we're also more resilient, have more patience and will treat TH-cam as an actual job if that's what we want from it. And that coupled with life experience, is powerful. We respect the endeavour, rather than treating it like a game.
Very true! Cheers :-)
There is truth here.
I have made at least one weekly video on my channel for 17 years. It is a variety channel so it has been hard to make an income but I make as much as my social security for just having a fun hobby of making videos every week. I am 70.
I love this! Was it hard to learn how to connect everything up and then edit the videos later? When Rob said "Just sit down today and start recording", I couldn't help but laugh to myself because I'm already full of questions... do I use the rear camera or selfie camera? How can I connect it to my tablet or laptop so I can see what I'm filming? Where would I connect an external microphone? Does putting the phone in airplane mode keep it from all interruptions, but still allow recording? Lol! I guess I need the PRE-101 course. : ) Funny thing is, I have 5 grown kids and I LOVE all the major social media platforms, especially YT. But filming is completely foreign to me. 🤷♀️
That's my issue too, I started ebikecnx7239 at 61 as an expat in Thailand, riding ebikes, roasting coffee, building a solar powered sea container tiny house and messing around with solar power. Only 550 subscribers after 2 years as it's not niche really but just doing things that interest me...
Hi, Robb! I just checked out your channel and subscribed. If this economy continues on its current path, then we will all be looking for more prepping and diy support! Looks like your videos have a lot of views, so people are appreciating your content already. 😀
@@HopeForUs5There are so many answers to your question that it can definitely be overwhelming! I'll give you the answers that I think will be quickest and easiest.
Definitely use the rear camera, which does present a problem...how do you see yourself? You can either 1) frame someone else where you will be sitting and film on faith, or 2) put a mirror of some kind near the camera so you can see how the framing looks.
You definitely can film in airplane mode, though many phones will block ringers and vibrations while filming is happening anyway.
For a microphone, the easiest way would be to find one that uses a USB plug or, better yet, whatever your phone uses. If it is a USB plug, just make sure it comes with what's called an "On the Go" or OTG plug that converts from the generic plug to your phone's. If it doesn't, you can definitely order one.
(You may need to go into settings in your camera app and specify to use an external microphone, but most seem to pick it up automatically)
Also, a tripod with a phone attachment makes life much easier, along with either a table or stand for your microphone.
That gives you 99% of what you need for a good way into your video journey. Going into editing is a little bit of a rabbit hole, just because it really depends on what you use, but all major phones have solutions that have you covered if you have a bit of time and patience to learn them. No need to get into complicated editing on the computer (though that's always an option down the road if you find you want to give it a try!)
I definitely applaud your desire to look into it and I hope this helps you down that path! And remember, we think of video as technical but it's equally an art, so what you make will always be flavored by your personality and style.
Best wishes!
@ProdigiaGames OH my gosh. THANK YOU for taking the time to answer each of my questions!! It was truly wonderful of you to provide those answers... and I understood them! Lol! I actually design company-required courses in my full-time job, so I have experience with that kind of software, but we don't use video. The mirror is a genius idea - and so simple! This was exactly what I needed. 😊 I will do a "dry run" (or 20! Lol!) this weekend. Thank you again so much - kind people make my heart smile. ❤️
I'm so glad that you made this video. I'm 47. I left a 20 year career in construction project management to do TH-cam full-time. I've grown my channel to 170,000 subscribers and I have some freedom with my time.
I keep encouraging people to start their own channels. I'm going to share your video with my friends. I hope that a lot of people see it!
I just subscribed! I am an interior designer & Principal in the A&E industry i love that you made such a change! Congratulations!!! I hope I can make my own dream come true. Slow and steady growth! Be well❤
Totally non troll comments here 😅
Just saw your channel and ya, it checks out. Congratulations, impressive work!
How much can you make from having 100000 subs?
I just subscribed! Love your channel. Keep this up!
In 2016 a friend and I started an online business. My friend suggested we have a YT channel to enhance the company's online presence. So I took a basic YT course we found on Udemy. The instructor said 'You may think YT is over-saturated but it's only going to grow further.'. And here we are, 8 years later, YT is bigger than ever.
TH-cam continues to grow at a dizzying pace! Listening to Think Media's podcast last week, Sean Cannell said that a recent study estimated that the amount of money available in the content creators space will double over the next three years. If that's true, then however big you think TH-cam is now this estimate has it doubling in three years. That's means there's a TON of room for new content creators... and there's no better time to get in it than now! And I 100% agree with your friend... using youtube NOT as a money maker itself, but as a driver of traffic to your online business is one of the best strategies! Good luck with it!
Do I remember 10 years ago when someone said:
“You can’t do TH-cam, it’s too saturated!” Lol
Imagine if you never followed through?
51 here, 5 years on TH-cam with 58,000 subscribers. Nice side hustle 👍😎
Congrats! Keep it going!! :-)
Let yourself get a grade B or C on your work, striving for excellence will hold you back ❤ A’s will come later 😊 just do it!
I love this Lisa! I Just took a screenshot of your comment to write down on my inspiration board. Do you mind if I share it to my socials (with your screen name included for credit)? Feeling to ask first! 😁
Straight up 👍🏼
I'm 55 and started my channel 3 years ago. It's now my main income.
It's worth it for the look on people's faces when they ask what you do for a living😁
That's amazing! Thanks for sharing and I wish you continued success :-)
That’s soooo Awesome!!! I love it!!!!! This totally encourages me & inspires me that I’m not too late:). I’m 44 and do have 180 subs but I have not uploaded in 7 months. Was busy with marrying off our oldest son. I want to be consistent with my content. I need to just make a schedule and record & upload no matter what!
That's amazing! Do you earn income from other products that your audience purchases or is it through YT monetization?
So cool I am a fellow crafter so this is super encouraging! I just started my TH-cam channel in March of this year. I am not 40 yet but very very close lol.
Hey! I’m going to sub to your channel. I’m a crafter and spent last 11 years selling my products on Etsy. My elder son told me to start then….. I feel really foolish not to have started then. I’m going to start now. ❤
Do it! Im only 34, so, im not over 40, but all i can say is go for it, but NEVER let the internet trolls get to you. People online can be garbage, but if you just delete, report and block. You can cultivate a great community. I have 33k on my costume TikTok. I only have 60 or so on here because it is a very new channel, but ive found a wonderful community here in the aquarist community. If you can share a bit of what you're doing, going through, making, or even feeling, let others live vicariously! I just stress that you do not make it a job, or the image of "perfect" that we see so often online. Be authenticly you.
Great advice!! Thanks for sharing!! Best of luck to you :-)
I can confirm it works. I started on TH-cam 10yrs ago to create a retirement income. I’m now 63, 297k subs and 1 yr away from full retirement. I have been living off TH-cam for 2yrs to prove I’m ready. You missed one big income source. Memberships. Via Patreon, or TH-cam or similar. Your true fans will support you with monthly donations. You give them some behind the scenes info, share what’s going on. Connect with them at trade shows or meetups. They can become your biggest financial support and emotional support when views are down or revenue is down. Many become friends.
Most of all, have fun with it.
Thank you for sharing!! Very inspiring to see someone having fun with it, and able to turn it into a retirement income. Lots of people here will enjoy this... thanks and keep it up!! :-)
Agree to have fun, make friends, and enjoy what you're doing ❤
"Definition of a teacher: someone who is one chapter further in the book" :)
Exactly right! I like that :-)
@@Acumind1 yes! Love it! I’ll be 41 this year!
Definition of a teacher I was taught is someone who can’t make a good movie teaching others how to make movies - funny.
Hahaha. That makes me laugh. You're right. Thanks for that. If we're watching this video it's because we think we might have something to say, that might be worth listening to. Cheers.
Wow..this is a good quote
I'm over 40 and just starting out. I love this comment section!
Inspiring right
Same here 😊
I am 62 years of age and I recently started a TH-cam channel where I share my love of needlework and drinking tea. These are two of my passions and I’m just enjoying myself. Being authentic is key.
That’s so awesome!! You e got the exact right attitude! Best of luck to you!! :-)
@@RobtheMaritimer Thank you!
I don't do needlework but I LOVE tea, so I subscribed. Good luck!
@TheDooskinCO Thank you and Welcome!!
Can we please take a moment to acknowledge the irony in modern phones having better cameras than mics?
Yeah that is pretty ironic!! Lol
Haha good point
I'm going to design a potato cam with an incredible microphone! LOL
68 and I refuse to not try new things. I've just started my channel. Thank you for the encouragement, as well as the others in the comments.
What's your channel please?
@@ninetiesperson7980 I've done two videos and working on a third because I want to upload 3 at a time. The channel is about men in the bible but I'm in the process of changing the name. I'm challenging myself.
Very nice ! the best way is to start!
I'm learning its never too late ...its is a journey .
@@susanhansonart Ma'am as long as we have breath it is never too late. And since I'm not running for homecoming queen, I've got nothing to lose. 🤣
Almost 48, been on TH-cam a few years and my best tip is to just be your authentic self and share things that are relatable. ❤
So true! Your channel is a perfect testament to that. I watched your Starting Over video a couple months ago... very authentic and inspiring! Keep it up and best of luck to you! :-)
Love this thanks for the words of encouragement
You look 10 years younger. What is your secret?
Just subscribed❤
Great advice!
Im in my early 30s and I can tell you. I appreciate older folks creating new channels and their sharing experience. Way more honest
Haha love it!!
It's nice to hear that
I've been told it's never too late start over completely. You just need to do it right this time. For most of us that means choosing something that actually makes good money as opposed to something that aligns with our passion...
I think as long as you choose something that you're EITHER passionate about OR know enough about to talk about it... that is the secret to growing an audience. To be successful at it (monetarily), you then also have to treat it like a business and not a hobby... not something everyone wants to do, but if that's your motivation then I think it's a must. No matter what topic you choose, you'll be able to monetize an audience somehow... maybe it's not through TH-cam monetization but something else (memberships, courses, digital offers, merchandise, all of the above, etc.). I hope that helps! :-)
Late 40’s here, started a channel 5 months ago, best decision I ever made
Awesome!!
Oh cool, another science channel to sub to. Thanks and good luck!
Good luck...started here at 61 with life in Thailand as an expat doing solar power, ebikes, travel, coffee and random fun things that interest me. Only 550 subscribers after 2 years now, maybe because it's not niche, but is fun things for me.....ebikecnx7239
Good luck!
Congratulations what was your driver?
@@Steven-Thompson My passion for science and creating media content
My first TH-cam was started before the platform offered monitization. I didn't consider posting videos as a source of income until 2012. Today, after designing over 900 original tartan designs, and learning to weave, maybe I should share what I have learned over the years.
Please do (I'm saying this as an avid consumer of other maker/crafter niches). You can make added revenues by selling pdf versions of patterns in either your own website or Etsy (if ravelry has a weaving section, it can be linked there too, but apparently they take a big cut), same for all other kinds of documents (how to plan your project, how to estimate how much material you need for different projects, project planning for weaving projects, etc).
To increase your reach, once you're confident enough in your youtube skills, don't hesitate to offer collaborations to people in adjoining niches (it can be as close as crocheters, knitters or going a bit further into the embroidery or sewing niche, the diy-ers, the renovation niches, interior design, general fashion, leather work niche, resin artists, etc)
Yes! Do it!
I think you should! Best of luck and have fun with it!!
@@RobtheMaritimer I will. Thanks.
@@johnorr8094 I think you should share. Crafting is huge on YT.
I so appreciate your vulnerability in showing the awkward starts/restarts. I needed to laugh at you so that I can laugh at me.
Reminded me how much it helped me feel better filming with my husband when I saw his raw footage.
Laugh at me all day long! I laugh at me too haha!
Hey, Rob. I found this channel by this video. I am 66 and am a colored pencil pet portrait artist. I have been thinking of starting a youtube channel for a few years now. I really want to share how art can be used for a calm and therapeutic exercise when your life is hectic or dealing with difficulties and how exciting it is when you are proud of your creation. Life is so stressful for some and to find something that you can enjoy and and "disappear" in the moments, it is fulfilling. I am really glad I came across your video and really appreciate your helpful hints in "just do it"! Thanks so much! Keep 'em coming :)
You should definitely start a channel!! That's such a cool niche market. Best of luck to you and thank you for the kind words :-)
You should absolutely start a channel. Lots of people live pet portraits and will benefit from the healing arts 🙏🏻🥰
Your channel idea sounds inspiring! Just go for it!

I think older people are also more authentic. When I read comments on more matured tubers’ vids, they often say this especially females. People appreciate authenticity in a very fake world!
Absolutely! Keep being genuine!
Definitely!
Great story, and I am happy to see you are satisfied. Being a TH-camr is very similar to running your own business. You should upload things people want to see, just like businessman should offer product/service that people need. And when the growth becomes real, you can consider hiring people to help you run your channel more efficiently. The most difficult part is starting and growing of course, but consistency and hard work (with a little bit of help from Famester of course) will always pay off at the end.
Great advice! :-)
Consistency and hard work pay off. Keep going!
Great spam comment.
Damn, not even a single contrarian comment (that I could find). Nothing against your advice, I just find it eerie that we have gotten to this point as a species.

Rob. I don’t think you realize you may have discovered a whole new niche for yourself “TH-cam over 40.” 1) this is your biggest video to date 2) the comments have exploded 3) There are so many other over 40 TH-camrs leaving comments. I have been browsing and found some interesting channels. You could build a community. 4) We trust you! Anyways this is the first video I’ve ever seen from you and I sincerely think this might be another channel idea for you. Regardless, great work on the video! It shows how many of us are seeking to escape the 9 to 5 and do something with purpose
TH-cam needs to do something to ensure creators it's not just a platform for teens and 20 year olds. The original TH-cam was so much better as you had a wide variety of content from all ages
Thank you for such kind words! Cheers :-)
I definitely think there is a 'over 40 niche' which I wouldnt have thought about a year ago. Just sharing your life experiences to younger generations could have a positive impact on them as well as yourself. I think if you have a teaching mentality, you could definitely have a successful channel.
I’m a 53yo that consumes a lot of TH-cam content. I’m impressed with your speaking and video quality. It’s hard to have a conversation like this and do it so well that people stay engaged (which I did). That’s quite a talent/skill.

Practice really helps! Thank you for the kind words and congrats on the growth of your channel! :-)
I agree with you and what you say in this video... I am 57 and preparing for my first 20 videos that no one will watch... I think we should all start making videos and uploading them now... It seems the earliest stumbling blocks will be the ones we learn the most from... I really like the bloopers you put at the end... It really shows how many takes you had to go through to get the final video!!!
I cut out about half of my takes as that would've been too long an ending haha!! I'm glad you liked them :-) And thanks for your advice... "first 20 videos that no one will watch" is a very good way to look at it!! Good luck with your channel :-)
Great idea
Keep pushing forward with those videos. You've got this!
I can SO RELATE to the bloopers! It’s hard! But I’m finding that the more you do it, the more comfortable you become. I’m 69; and all the tech stuff is not easy for me. I appreciate you sharing this video!
The struggle is real for sure!! It seems that a LOT of people have the same issue... but you're right, the more you do it the easier it gets :-) Best of luck!!
I soooo appreciate the bloopers! They really show the human effort behind the scenes
The struggle is real!! Haha! Glad you liked them :-)

Many see age as an obstacle, but no one can be 25, have 15 years of experience, and (as a woman) have given birth to their children.
I have a TH-cam channel where I share tips & tricks and teaching.
I do the same in my membership club, on my blog, and on both of my websites.
This allows me to share my knowledge, gain new clients, and continue working - despite my age.
Sounds like you're on the right track! Since you've been an IT instructor for many years, you're well suited and likely have a lot of the skills necessary to be a "teacher" on youtube! Best of luck with it!
@@RobtheMaritimer Thank you, Rob, and as an instructor to another, you're doing more than well. You're really good at explaining and demonstrating. Even though I've used Camtasia since version 7 or 8, I often learn something new from your videos. My TH-cam channel is in Danish; that's my niche. 👍😃

I’m over 40 totally agree. My message is life is short explore your world learn and grow.
Great message!! Thanks for sharing :-)
@@RobtheMaritimerit’s also a lot of work but it’s rewarding!
First time commenting- hoping this is the video that gets me to start my channel - 40+ - good luck and have an amazing day everyone!!!!
I hope so too! Start your channel and have fun with it!! All the best :-)
I'm almost 48 and this was my sign! Thank you very much.🇧🇷🇺🇸
Awesome!! Best of luck to you!! :-)
I have wanted to do this for a while (I’m 56) but I am conscious that I don’t look very glamorous, not a good public speaker and am not much of a techie so every time I get the urge I talk myself out of it. I’ve got so much I want to talk about but the fear gets the better of me. This video has encouraged me to take the plunge! ❤
Just do it!
You've got this!! I promise you it gets easier after your first one! It's very liberating too once you post that first video. Remember this too... your first probably 20 videos you'll just be making for YOU. Yes you'll be posting them for the world to see, but they are your time to get better at making videos, talking on camera, etc. After 20 videos you will be much better at it and that's when more and more people will start watching. Fast forward a year or so and you may have thousands of subscribers, and none of them will be there because of your first video... they'll have seen your latest videos! Good luck with it!!
@@RobtheMaritimer thanks Rob that’s very encouraging. Just need to get on and do it now!
I’m 40 and been on the Tube for like 8+ years. I’m still at it and won’t stop ✨ Great video 💕
Thank you and all the best to you! :-)
Awesome to hear your dedication! Keep rocking it👍🏻
I retired in Feb. loved every second of it I want to leave a legacy to my family and friends. I think this is the perfect place. Excited to watch your content for guidance. Thank you. Curtis
That's fantastic! I thought I was the only one who thought that way! Yes I think it would be an amazing legacy to leave for future generations of our families :-) Best of luck to you and have fun with it :-)
Thank you for this video, especially the hilarious bloopers. I'm 60 years old and thinking of starting a YT channel. You made the process relatable and authentic. Now I need to stop procrastinating and just do it!
That’s right!! Go for it!! And best of luck :-)
😂 - thanks for including the Bloopers… I thought I was the only one this happens to (especially with my dog interrupting) and the number of re-dos 🥺😵💫… this perspective helps!
I appreciate the authenticity you show. It's nice to see people being themselves and putting themselves out there bravely. I don't like being on camera and I do crochet videos without my face. But thanks for the encouragement. I'm considering the idea of branding in the way you mentioned. You did a nice job. This video was easy to watch. :) It was nice of the cat to allow you to use the room. lol
Haha!! Yeah, I do appreciate Peanut letting me do my thing lol! Thank you for the kind words, and best of luck to you :-)
You know how I know you’re a cat owner… or should I say you know how I know a cat owns you… lol
Agree that the older generation still can and needs to be a light for the youth. A great need for wisdom in this age.
Well said!
I am over 50. And my son encouraged me to start. It been a wonderful adventure. Been experiencing with a second channel.
That's great! Best of luck to you :-)
Agree. I'm 46, and I started my channel five months ago to inform and inspire the underrepresented low to middle-class to achieve true freedom. I'm not an expert in any of the topics I discuss, but people can relate and benefit from my decades of failures, learnings, and successes. I believe there are always people who know more than me and people who know less than me. TH-cam is an excellent platform for learning from each other.
That's the perfect attitude! Congrats and I wish you the best of luck with it!! :-)
Great mission!
This is my sign to start at 46 years old. the TH-cam algorithm is doing its thang here LOL
Right
lol
@@PursuitOfJusticeChronicles yes it is! I am 47. I started 3 months ago. Slow growth, but it has been tons of fun!
We can all achieve success!💗🇵🇷🙏🏽
Go for it! Can't wait to see your videos😊
Me too. Let's do this!
Thanks for posting this video on starting youtube! I'm new to this and I get discourage at times. I'm trying to be consistent on posting. I need to stay motivated. At 43 years old, I'm set on succeeding!
That’s great! Positive attitude and work ethic will take you far! Best of luck :-)
I am 46 years young and have never considered starting my own TH-cam channel. Although I have been recently asking for spiritual guidance on what the next steps are for me on my path and purpose and lo and behold this morning your video popped up. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this it was super helpful.
I'm glad you found it helpful! All the best to you :-)
Hi Rob!!
Your video reached my homepage so the algorithm is showing its approval for your channel! I appreciate your authenticity!
I’m 58 and just getting started and can relate to how hard it is recording yourself. It’s so hard but I feel so much better after overcoming my anxiety. I love the relatability of the bloopers! Keep it up! You got this!
Best of luck with your channel!
The bloopers are awesome! Believe it or not, I gleaned a lot from them!
Agreed. Seeing the talking points blurt out half formed. It really takes work to frame your ideas for the listener. The finished product sounds easy, but that's an illusion
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!! I’ll be 60 in a couple of months. I’ve toyed with the idea of starting a YT channel. You’ve given me hope that it’s not too late. I think you are an excellent presenter. You’re voice is soothing and you look good on camera. I would love to see more videos of you talking to me. I subscribed and liked this video! 👏👏👏🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you for the kind words :-) And welcome!!
This is precisely what I needed to hear. I had struggled to be a senior TH-camr, but you gave me a new perspective.
You did a great job “winging it,” what I love the most is that you don't implement jump cuts, which seem to dominate mellineal channels. I had tried using a script in a filmmaker workshop I took, and I hated how I came across, so I got disillusioned. I can relate to your struggles, and I feel more confident now because of this video. Thank you!
I've also struggled with writing scripts and then trying to deliver them "naturally"... check out some of my older videos! It's so hard. Reading from a teleprompter for any longer than a few sentences I just find so hard to do! "Off the cuff" is where it's at so that's what I'm preaching! lol Best of luck to you :-)
I was getting stuck and thinking about deleting my channel (started 8 months ago when I turned 50) completely today. Then, this video came to me! Wow, what a timing… you changed my mind 😄
I decided to keep doing it with the way I can have fun. I’m sick of myself constantly paying attention to the “numbers”… which is not healthy.
Love your outtakes at the end, I do the same thing too 😂
I can tell that you put a lot of effort into this video Thank you so much! 🙏
That's awesome! Stick with it, good luck and have fun!! :-)
Great advice! I’m involved in the YTPC (you tube pipe community. Tobacco pipes, pipe tobacco) This community now has some under 40’s presenting. The YTPC has helped them quit evil ,chemical infused cigarettes and vaping. For the pure pipe tobacco. Great chat.
Keep up the great work!
This is so encouraging. I have been thinking about starting a youtube channel, but I have been so clueless on what my content should be. Just seeing someone so comfortable sharing their thoughts on just getting started is so refreshing. I put myself in your shoes on your bloopers and I know when I start I am going to do the same thing. Thank you, Rob!
That’s awesome!! Thanks for the feedback and good luck to you!! :-)
You made my day showing me, I'm not the only one with such kind of problems, breaks, and so on (regarding the outtake material).
That's awesome! Best of luck to you :-)
I totally love those bloopers. The fear is real! It's exactly what I've been doing for the past years and the reason why I haven't really started. There are other mitigating circumstances, but it's a goal I have for myself once the other stuff that I'm dealing with has been dealt with. Thank you for making this video!
I love how unaffected your cat is in the background. You speak truth.
Hey Rob! First time visiting your channel and what a great video to find! Just 40 last year and I’ve been leaning heavily towards making the jump to TH-cam! Really appreciate the chat here and the extras at the end! This video is truly 💯 and the comments section is awesome! Liked an subscribed! Take care! Andrew from NB, Canada :)
Hello neighbour! Thank you for the kind words and glad to have you on board!! :-)
and… thank you for sharing the “bloopers!” Now I feel so much better, as I do the very same thing! You did the right thing by speaking extemporaneously… it’s so sincere 😊
Thank you for the kind words! I’m glad you liked it :-)
I started my channel a year ago with no clue when I will get 21k subscribers like today. I’m 60 and I’m working as a drywall contractor. I totally agree with you that we have more experience and life stories to share. Creating contents is my side hustle. Hopefully one day, it can be my full time job when I’m too old to be in physical job. Thank you so much for sharing your opinion!
Wow that's awesome! Keep going and best of luck!!
Amazing progress! Keep it up👍🏻
@@thedrywallguyofthediy245 21k subs in 1 year?! You need to make the video “How to go from 0 to 21k subscribers in 1 year”. Maybe the title should say 20k, for more search results, and then you explain in the video that you did over 21k.
The bloopers are the best. Thanks brother.
Excellent video! I have pondered starting a TH-cam channel. It’s almost like you read my mind, as this pondering has grown since I turned 50 in May. Kudos to you for getting out of your comfort zone and getting started!
Thanks!! You can do it! Best of luck to you :-)
The struggle is real! Love the bloopers! That cat nonchalantly cleaning itself in the background is priceless!😂
Right?! I think she’s the star of the video.. well, she certainly thinks she is!! 🤣
Thanks I am 59 years old and releasing my new channel in September! Can’t wait to get some momentum, get messy and do the reps for 2025. When I turn 60. Love this video xoxo
Thank you and best of luck to you with the new channel! :-)
That ending was so real! The only difference is I don’t get up…but I start over so many times! 😂 Thanks for reminding me to save for bloopers!
As real as it gets haha!! In future videos I may just stay seated too ;-)
This is the first time I’ve seen your channel. Great work! I can feel your authenticity and I think that is the key to keeping people watching.
Thank you for the kind words :-) Best of luck!
Hello, Sir. I´m a 62 year old from Brazil. I must say I have learned a lot from you and that´s why I thank *you*.
I must say that being a very small content creator has kept my mind sound and busy. 🙂
Keep up the great work!
I am 54 and always dreamed of making TH-cam videos. Thank you for making this video very simple and plan. 🙏🏽
Go for it and start creating!
I especially loved your blooper reel! It was so...real and relatable. That is totally me whenever I've tried filming myself!
I'm glad the algo now lists smaller channels in my feed, but still matches my interests. More good fortune with your channel sir.. 😊
Awesome, thank you!
I'm in my 20s and I love how this video motivate us to make a youtube channel. I have created my channel exactly 1 month ago and it was so difficult for me to actually start... I know that many people also have those moments of doubts and this video help so many people. I wanna be in late years and have created a beautiful genuine community
Once you start it gets so much easier! Good luck with it! :-)
Over 60 here. You have given me the courage to just do it, thank you! And yes, I would like more videos like this.
Can't wait to see the videos!
Thank you for making and sharing this video. I am 67 years old, And a disabled veteran. I’ve already started a channel just this week, but this video gives me even more confidence and inspiration. As well as some practical suggestions for monetizing along the way as a build my audience. I really appreciate what you offered here. Blessings
P.S. and I appreciate the outtakes. Very liberating.
Thank you for the kind words! Best of luck to you going forward!! :-)
Great job. I'm 54 & I've seen quite a few videos from the younger people on this topic, but they use a lot of language I am unfamiliar with and so while I have been inspired to start a channel, it seems overwhelming having to think about all of the "things" and research that seems necessary in order to begin. Thank you for being vulnerable and putting this video out in plain English. Good job. Keep it up.
It certainly can be overwhelming, yes... I guess that's what I'm hoping to help with... to make things or more easily understood by people of our generation. Starting a TH-cam channel and making, editing and uploading videos to TH-cam doesn't have to be difficult. That's what I intend to show people through the videos in this channel. I hope they help :-)
Hi Rob and 'hi' to all of you, like myself, who have found Rob's channel. Rob, thank you for choosing to address 'Starting Your Own TH-cam Channel' as the topic for this particular video! I decided to leave this comment as a way of acknowledging that the stand out piece of info you provided was the importance of 'keeping it real'! Just about anyone can create an entire video using 'prompted' content. However, I am 100% more likely to fully support someone like yourself who has stepped out of their comfort zone to personally connect with their viewers. Cheers mate! 😉👍
Thank you so much, means a lot!! :-)
