And the best part about hiding haters is that they still get notified every time you post a new video. They probably do click and watch and leave another mean comment is that you get watch time from their eyeballs but you never get to see their mean comment. In a nutshell, their watch time makes you money. I love TH-cam how the platform throws a rotten egg on their faces.
Thank you for this. I posted my first YT ever and got two negative comments straightaway. It's quite demoralizing, because I felt I had overcome a lot of personal reticence before starting the channel. Your insight and @RobtheMaritimer 's advice is really helpful. Thank you.
To those with this fear ------I've been watching TH-cam channels for many, many years (it took place of me watching any tv) and I noticed over time there wasn't any consistent creator that didn't receive criticism. Even the ones I thought were so sweet, or beautiful, or talented, or wise, ect...there were still haters. While that is a sad fact, it was also liberating because as a viewer I knew that if I were to start a YT channel I didn't have to take any negative comments personally. And this goes into my own personal life as well when out in public and feeling self-conscience. Don't base your values on random people's opinions. And most of the time it isn't even their opinion, they just like to spew negativity because they really do have something messed up within themselves. Be yourself. There are plenty of people out there that WILL appreciate you and they will be drawn to you. These are the people to focus on. The rest are just flies you can swat away 🙃
This was so great Rob, wow, I love it. Comments requires an equal amount of my time as editing my videos. The bigger a channel becomes the more negative comments, trolls and scammers attack your channel. You have to really protect your channel. Many if not most people who quit TH-cam is because they begin feeling down because they aren't seeing the results they want, and then someone really puts them down in the comments. You have to cowboy up and let the negative comments roll off. Very good advice.
My kids always encourage me to start a channel. I think the fear of negative comments is holding me back. Thanks for this video…it’s making me think differently about this!
I'm glad it helped! Just remember... negative comments don't matter. They are from people who don't know you, aren't subscribed to you and you'll never see them or hear from them again. AND they send the same type of comments to lots of other people all the time. They are just background noise :-)
Helpful, thanks for sharing. Hurt people [will] hurt people. It's easier and feels better to attack someone else than to experience one's own emotional pain. I'm not saying it's easy to receive hateful comments but like you said, "their hate is really about them and not you." Keep up the great work!
I found your channel yesterday’ and I’ve enjoyed your videos. Fear of negativity kept me from starting a channel but I finally started one in 2022. I haven’t showed my face yet , so I need to get brave and do that so it’ll grow. Anyways , have a great day!
When I saw the title of this video I felt so bad thinking someone could actually be mean to you! Lol so glad no one directly sends you hate! Keep up the good work, you are so inspiring! 💛
Thank you so much! There are haters out there for everyone, myself included... I just choose to ignore them, but privately also hope they can figure themselves out. Going through life hating on others is not the way to a happy life IMO! Cheers :-)
Great video! I struggled with negative comments on my videos for a while. It took a while for me to not let it bother me. Once I realized that trolls comment on EVERYONE'S channel it made it easier. I love your reminder that it's "their" problem. ☺
I liked your point, people that make hurtful comments aren’t the audience you are trying to reach. I just started watching your videos and am finding them very helpful. Thanks
Hi Rob thank you for sharing. I deal with anxiety issues regarding video's posting them. I like the solutions you come up with. And how you deal with the bloopers in the end of this video. Hilarious, super honest and fun to watch😂 thanks a lot! You set the right example. I feel encouraged and less anxious thanks to your vid, it is helpful to me and a relieve to hearing more about dealing with comments of others and on how to respond. Hi from a new subscriber (Netherlands), Kristyle
We've hidden so many comments on our TH-cam channel. There's a mentality of "hugging your haters" which we typically DO try if it's a disgruntled person. However, sometimes it's just trolling or being cruel. No one has time for that and shouldn't have to deal. Thankful to TH-cam for the ability to Hide! Great video, Rob!
I've been getting a huge amount from this recent set of videos so I just wanted to add some positivity and say thank you! From this video, the way you talk about your channel and videos as your domain was so well put and I really hope it helps people feel more ok about taking control of THEIR comments section and removing ugly comments without worrying about that. I've had very little problem with it myself and dealt with it differently over time, often now just deleting the comment - I didn't know about the hide user thing so thanks for that. I too feel sad for these people and the lives that lead them to such bitterness and anger towards others who don't deserve it. I appreciate you being humble enough to show the "bloopers" and your preference for not scripting or heavy editing. I feel strongly in that place myself where a too rigid approach, while probably a comforting safety net, does remove some of the humanity we should be willing to show in these places. Sorry for the rambling and much love from a cold, rainy winters day down here in New Zealand. Looking forward to more videos in this vein.
62 here and my daughter finally got me to start a channel. This will be a fun hobby since I’m not doing anything anyway but love to stay busy. I too worried about the negatives but so what..just going to dive right in and stay strong. We will see how well I handle it. Hopeful.
There will always be people who vent their anger with comments to innocent third parties just because they can't cope with their own world and are looking for an outlet. And, like I mentioned before at one of your last videos, thanks for the bloopers and outtakes - they make your videos somehow more likeable and human.
All great advice, Rob! We get negative comments on our film review channel because people feel very strongly about the movies they love -- there's a very intense Ghostbusters contingency, we have learned -- so what I like to do sometimes is kill 'em with kindness. I'll respond in a polite way, thank them for watching, and find that they do a total 180 and reply that they've been watching us for years and enjoy our work. I think people often just drop negativity into the ether without thinking that a human being is on the receiving end. If it's personal, sexist or homophobic (my co-host Alonso is gay), I delete it, because there's no room for that on our channel. We're really proud of the thoughtful, engaged community we've built, and it looks like you're doing the same. Keep it up! -- Christy
That's amazing, thanks for sharing!! And I agree, there's a big difference between criticism and hate... there's no room for hate at all. I have also experienced the "180 turn" you mentioned! It's a crazy world we live in these days!! Cheers :-)
Thank you for this, Rob!!! I have been watching TH-cam channels for a very long time and it just makes me so sad and so sick to see all of the ugly comments. It was definitely something that made me drag my feet to get something started. 😬
Just realizing that hateful comments are coming from people who have problems... should be a little bit comforting in that the problem is not with us, the creators. Haters are going to try to spread their hate and they do it a lot online. It is up to us to not let it affect us. For some, that means having to delete and/or hide the comment(s) right away, and that's totally fine. It's nice to have that option! Other people leave the comments in place and don't take them personally... and that's fine too. Whatever works for you :-) I do a mix of both. Take care!
I've been fortunate to not be hit yet by negative comments. On the other side of the coin, I keep the email notifications of nice comments so that if I'm feeling discouraged I can feel some love.
Great video! What I have learned and always tell my children and clients is that no matter what you do or say some people will hate you and some people will love you regardless. Focus on people that love and respect you and what you do. If you think it’s bad what they say to you just imagine what they say and think to themselves. Keep at it because you are the winner ♥️🙏
I immediately cringe whenever a message pops up saying I have a comment on one of my channels, hoping it's not negative. I keep going, though. The negative comments I have received, I responded with kindness and found others defending me, as well. The people who like your content will usually take care of the mean people for you lol.
That's a great way to look at it! Having people come to your defence is uplifting and a great way to deal with it. Some people don't even want to see it and so they'd prefer to just delete/hide the comments. I think both ways have merit... it's whatever works best for you and allows you to stay positive. Thanks for sharing! :-)
Yes, when I respond with kindness, the person who was mean has often calmed themselves down and respond back with a bit more respect. It's really a unique phenomenon. :)
@@TedMattos Great comment, I've noticed that too! It's like the original poster was posting not thinking anyone was actually listening... and once given some time and then to see you responded, they're often much less aggressive and maybe even apologetic. Good point!
Rob, you gave some really good advice on this subject. I want to add that when a person is writing nasty or hateful comments, remember, they took time out of their day to check in to your TH-cam channel. They are watching you. They are looking and listening to you, giving you their time you made them look. They are being cruel to you, but they are checking you out. You arent intrested in them. You aren't checking them out. They are interested in you, your life, what you have to say, and your channel. They are witnessing your life. You. Could. Care. Less about them. When they leave a nasty comment. Thank them for watching. Yup.
I've had this same fear but my first videos were posted over a year ago and I haven't gotten a single negative comment yet. Maybe I need to be more well known but dozens of positive comments has me actually looking forward to uploading now instead of dreading it.
That's fantastic! Just be sure that if you ever DO get a negative comment that it doesn't negatively affect you. Whether that means deleting it, hiding it, answering it, ignoring it... whatever works for you :-) All the best!
Hi Rob 👋 I was one of the ones who was wondering where Peanut was 😃 Glad to see her cosy and content 💤 and I’m glad to find out her name 🥜🥰 Stay happy and positive 💚🍀✨💫
I just wanted you to know that I’m getting closer and closer to getting started on YT and other channels all because of you. You are so authentic and cover all of the things that have been factors in holding me back. I’ve been subscribed from my other account and now subscribed from here, the account that I hope to start my channel with. I truly appreciate you!
I'm about to start my TH-cam Channel and I'm now working with Camtasia Studio and thanks to you I've upgraded from the 2020 version to 2024 version and will keep up the maintenance! I'm not too worried about the comments (yet) but I appreciate the knowledge that you can get rid of them so thanks for that. What I really appreciate about your videos outside the content is the bloopers at the end. What I'm struggling with is videoing myself and the bloopers tell me that it's hard for everyone. Cheers to you!
It's absolutely ridiculous that someone would send you negative comments. You are a person giving honest assistance to others in a very respectful manner. How can someone slam that? Keep up the great work!
I saw your first video after contemplating starting a channel specifically bc my thoughts were: I am almost 60! How can these little 19 year olds have so much knowledge and followers with no experience!!!? Anyhoo, just wanted to say. You are spot on! I started following a "spiritual guy" that was obnoxious. I loved his information though, and new it was ME perceiving incorrect! I kept following him and lo and behold! He is not obnoxious anymore and I love his info now, because "I" changed! Thank you for being "you", keep doing that and I will never say anything mean on here. I can tell you speak from the heart. My best to you!
There are a lot of miserable people out in the world who will attack anyone/anything rather than looking in the mirror and improving their own lives. There's also a massive and ongoing mental health crises going on in the USA. Don't let these people bring you down.
Thank you for this video. So helpful to know what can be done about it. It was a main fear that put me off even trying. Now I'll seriously consider starting ☺️❤️
Yes it's very tough and hard. There is no need for it. Just realise it's out of your control. I've desensitised myself to all of it and it has given me so much power.
This is some really good advice. Negative comments are one of the top things that keep people from creating positive content. I think your strategy here is great. I am just getting started (in my 40’s) and I will be following this advice. Thank you!
Thank you for this! As someone growing their channel it can really get to you. I read or heard recently that most people leaving these comments are people who are not as successful as you are. That could be subscriber count or overall channel reactions. Keep on keepin' on!
Awesome video. I too struggle with putting out videos because of the hateful comments. One recently told me that my voice was so annoying that he would rather listen to RFK, Jr. It was on one of my other channels that is a vlog, and I started to get some traction on that channel, and then the negative comments started coming in and it was quite deflating.
That's too bad, and I totally understand how deflating it can be. You just have to try to ignore them... hide them right away if you want and put them completely out of your mind. Remember, they are the ones with a problem, not you! Best of luck to you :-)
Awesome! I’m glad you’re continuing this format, inspired me to talk more on my last video too 😊 My current issue is the lack of comments, definitely better no comments than bad though, but I’d love to know how to increase comments
Great! One thing you can try for getting more comments is to prompt your viewers from your video. That is, ask them a question in the video and tell them they can answer in the comments. Or… you can start the comments by asking a question in the comments, pinning it to the top and then hopefully people will respond to that. It’s a slow process to get it stated but once it starts it usually picks up speed :-)
Thank you for this. I've been worried about starting anything on here because of potential nasty comments. I read many many comments on other videos and I just can't believe the nastiness that exists out there. As you say, I think there are people whose sole reason for existence seems to be writing nasty things. Timely advice. 🙏 PS Peanut looks soooo cosy in that bed! 😊
Hard to imagine you getting negative comments considering your benign content. Good to know info and points though; I am admittedly thin skinned after many years of parental abuse. Idk yet how to apply, but I have seen page messsges reminding viewers to keep comments kind and respectful. Have great weekend, Rob. I hoping to apply your wisdom this weekend! 🫶🏼
Oh I've received hate too, don't worry lol! But it doesn't bother me.... it's their problem not mine ;-) Maybe I'll do a future video on some of the hateful things people have said to me... but that'll be much later! This video was about hate, so perhaps it's time for several videos on more positive topics ;-) You have a great weekend too... and good luck!!
When the videos on my channel we're getting about 30 to 100 views I was afraid of negative comments. Then after I got a few and realized I survived it also indicated that I was indeed on the right track and actually gave me some good fuel for going on. I did and do give them more thought than they deserve -- working on that. Thanks for this helpful video
I did a video on “I didn’t enjoy being a mom.” I changed the title to a “single mom”, but some people really shamed me for my feelings. I didn’t go into great detail and could have explained myself a bit better, but nonetheless, some people really gave me some grief. I just responded back as kindly as I could. Everyone has had a different path in life and we should all try to be considerate of that. Unfortunately, all people aren’t. My videos aren’t the best, but I have plans and know I’ll get better. GREAT video. 😊
It's odd how so many people feel the need to impose THEIR feelings and beliefs and judgements on others... especially if they don't even know them. It sounds like you handled it perfectly... with kindness. No need to stoop to their level. Good on you! Cheers :-)
Good morning, Rob. Happy Friday! I've often said that anonymity breeds animosity. What I mean is that because social media is a platform where we can simply type our thoughts on a keyboard and look at a screen, we aren't SEEING the hurt our words are causing. People type things on social media that they would (hopefully) NEVER say to a person's face. Why? Because they are looking at a soulless monitor. "I don't care if it hurts another person, I have the right to speak my mind." Just because we CAN say/type something doesn't mean we SHOULD type it. People need to re-learn that. What has helped me (and maybe will help others) is that I do my best to consider the source. 1. Do I KNOW the person making this comment about me? No? Then what they say has little value. 2. Do I VALUE the person or their opinion about me? No? Then what they say has little importance to me. For example, you and I, although we have never met in person, have created something of an online friendship or at least familiarity. What you say to me, or what I say to you, might matter a bit more. Then again, we wouldn't be TOXIC to the other person due to respecting the other person. Wow. Long-winded Friday. :) All this to say that people can help resist toxicity by placing the typed words into perspective. Not always easy, but so helpful. Have a great weekend, friend!
Solid advice!! Hopefully people WILL start to re-learn respect and kindness and to understand how hurtful comments can be, even if they feel they have the right to say something. Thanks for sharing Ted, and have a great weekend :-)
Helps a lot. Thanks so much. Really makes a difference that I have never heard of on this or any platform or courses I have been involved with. I can relate to this. Totally. 🎉
I think your response to this is well said and mature. More of this in the world, please, less reaction, more reason. This hasn't been a major worry for me but definitely has come to mind. Thanks for discussing the topic.
Rob, you are such a blessing to all of us ❤ Simply love you! Theresa, Trump once said “Every second there’s an a*hole born on this planet” and I feel that all of those suckers have now found these platforms to discourage others from being able to spread happiness which is a very scary place for them to be in. They are those unhappy, unsuccessful people who will always be around, demeaning others. Follow Rob’s advise and keep doing what you are doing, fearlessly ❤
Thank you so much for the kind words :-) There's nothing we can really do for the people who want to send negativity our way... we can only control how we deal with it! Cheers :-)
This is me all the way so scared of the negativity in the world however, I'm trying to do the uncomfortable in hopes that others will do the same! Many blessings to all! Thank you for this information!
I like how natural you talk in front of the canera. I don't see you acting, i see that you try just to be youself. Thank you. And please, continue making these videos
@@YuriGolos It depends... I do have a list of topics I'll want to cover in the next several weeks, so that helps! But in the case of this latest video, it was a comment that came in just 2-3 days ago and I decided to share my response thinking it would help a lot of people who commented similarly. So in other words, I get ideas from my commenters :-)
Rob, I've only seen a couple of your videos subs but pretty much immediately subbed on acccount of your lovely character and excellent content. Pay no heed to anyone who has nothing better to do than be nasty back at someone freely offering them wise and constructive advice. Keep her lit, guv'nor!
KUDOS to you. Obviously you exhibit a very mature attitude towards negativity. Your strategy of hiding the comment is probably the best approach. One thing that should be pointed out is that there is a legitimate place for disagreement or pointing out mistakes. For instance weeks ago on a TH-camr’s show, who boasts of the value of Adobe software, I made a comment that Adobe was ripping off graphic creators by using their work to train Adobe’s A.I. That TH-camr deleted my comment immediately. Several weeks later Adobe issued a statement addressing that same issue.
Thanks Rich! And I 100% agree with you that there sometimes is a good reason to point something like that out… specifically if it’s to help people. The owner of the video is still within his/her rights to remove whatever comments they don’t want in that thread… for example, if they have a sponsorship agreement with the company and they company doesn’t want it there I could see them removing it… BUT your comment could have been a catalyst for change which is a good thing. Great point! Thanks for commenting :-)
Thank you to Teresa and you for addressing this. I recently started a channel and I got a negative comment. I resisted the urge to delete the comment . . . and to quit posting videos. There was some truth to the comment about a rambling unstructured video but the person was needlessly mean. After a few days someone replied to the negative commenter and I thought that was meant for me so I hid that person. Then I realized they were on my side and telling the other person to "get a life". I unhid them but the comments didn't come back. That is when I decided to go ahead and hide the original negative poster. I came to the that this is my space and as you put it, my tribe. I initially felt like I was being weak by deleting or hiding the negative feedback, but I saw it just brought more negativity into the comments even though they sided with me. I feel like so many people don't know how to give constructive criticism without being jerks. They often seem to thrive on putting someone else down. I also want to say that I like your bloopers. They help me to see that I am not the only one who can get caught up in a false start with the same sentence again and again. Enjoying the content!
Thank you for that! And thanks for sharing your story… that’s kind of the reality of running a TH-cam channel, having to moderate the comments. I probably would’ve done the same thing you did… for me it’s best to just get all that negativity out of there. Cheers!
Great video Rob… it takes courage and a shield 🛡️to do what you do… and you got both even if we can’t see it. That’s the MIRACLE of acting as if…. Respect…
I left Facebook because I had friends of differing opinions arguing on my page. And caustic people too. I have been asked to do a podcast and to do a TH-cam channel but I have become a more serene person now that I am no longer in the limelight. If I have anything to say I would probably put it on paper, bound and stitched.
We have made videos every week for 5 years about RV travel, and have gotten 10s of thousands of comments, a VERY VERY VERY small number of those comments are mean, and we usually just ignore them. The positive comments and the encouragement you get from youtube far outweighs the bad.. We have gotten big enough now that if somebody makes a mean comment, sometimes our other viewers defend us, and that is awesome. Don’t let the mean comments stop you, and dont let those comments change the way you act or what you say in your videos. But that is easier said than done. JMO. Larry
I totally agree! It's their problem and you have to ignore people like that. I think that dealing with negativity is truly a skill that can be learned, although it can be really hard at first for a sensitive person. I like @BissellMapleFarm 's comment...you can use the troll's to help you improve yourself. 😆
Honestly as a Gen Xer I am thankful I learned young to not give a rip what mean/rude people think or say towards me. I have one video in particular that is around 600k views and man let me tell you many are just basement keyboardists who have no lives. It was a review of a hotel stay as well lol so nothing controversial that one would assume would garner that much hate. I leave the comments and rarely delte/hide user because they have no idea their ignorance helps push it out even further. Yesthere are some times where I end up responding but many times I just ignore and move on.
You've got a great attitude and that'll take you far! Good on you for being able to leave negative comments in place and still not let them bother you. Congrats and all the best moving forward!! :-)
Do you have a video where you talk about how you use your sound system in detail? How the microphone works with XLR connection and how to connect it to the computer? Is there a mixer that goes in between?
I do talk a great deal about my audio setup here: th-cam.com/video/lZg8PSVsyio/w-d-xo.html To answer your question, yes... my XLR mic goes into a simple audio interface (not a mixer, just an interface... the Scarlett Focusrite 2i2) and then that connects to my Macbook.
As much you grow more hate are you gonna have, NO WORRIES! that does it mean you are successful, KEEP DOING! its a shame that Human being affect us 1% negative than 99% positive (cuanto más crezcas más haters (odiadores) tendrás, eso es universal, continúa con tus vídeos! PD: by the way, when i asked about why u don't get desmoralized I meant why u didn't stop (like a lot of TH-camrs) when you have NO views, or few subscribers, thanks!
100% agree :-) A lot of TH-camrs DO stop and give up if they don't see results as fast as they'd like. I didn't partly because I enjoy making videos but also because I know the longer you stay at it and be consistent, growth should eventually come. But I always enjoyed the process of making videos, editing videos, learning editing, etc... so I continued anyways. I hope that helps :-)
People being mean are miserable in their life so they want other people to be unhappy too plus they are cowards as they do it behind a computer screen.
Good question! I'm not sure I've had any... if I have, then I didn't know it and I treated them like real people lol! Seriously though, I guess it depends on what's in the message and if it furthers or adds to the discussion in your comments. If it does, then I would just respond accordingly. I'm always nice and courteous to everyone, regardless of how nice or courteous they are to me. If it's downright negative or mean, I typically HIDE them so I don't see their comments anymore. I don't need to see that nor do I want my other commenters seeing it. If it's constructive criticism then I'll thank them for the feedback. The bottom line is, if it's a comment I'm going to leave on the channel, I typically always reply in some way. Comments on your video is seen as a good thing by TH-cam... they like interactions and conversations taking place in the comments section so that helps your video. I'm not sure I helped with this response, but hopefully I did! Best of luck :-)
@@RobtheMaritimer thanks for replying! Yes I’ve wondered if they help so I generally leave them. I didn’t recognize them at first but then when I go from 10 to 139 comments in 60 seconds I thought aha 💡 the bots are back! They usually have something to do with making money. 🤷♀️
As one of the over 40 / new TH-camrs, it doesn’t really affect me much. I am past having to have everyone like me. If they leave an ugly comment, that’s on them.
I made the mistake of doing a video about a very caustic Internet thing that instantly causes anger. I was trying to find a mid level between both sides, not realizing that the negative people would come at me any way (not interested in any mid level commentary). The negative comments came at me like a water fall that was never going to stop. It's the only video I just decided to take down, never dealing with that issue again.
Creating a channel and making videos about anything controversial is tricky and would likely come with a lot of negative comments... so people wanting to create channels like that should be aware of that likelihood. Just something to think about :-)
love what you said here and I think your videos are amazing and you are an amazing person thanks for giving me something so nice in my life btw because of your videos my TH-cam channel is doing very very well god bless
It’s important to distinguish between criticism, from which you can learn and grow, and plain childish trolling. The trolls are “water off a ducks back” and I delete the comments. It’s a pity there isn’t a “block” option. Even if your TH-cam channel is just a hobby, still run it as if it were your business. What I can never understand is the “Like” percentage versus the number of views (generally averages out to about 10%). The first thing I do when I open a video is hit the “Like” button. I understand that it helps the content creator, even if the info is not relevant to me. It helps the channel and the creator grow.
Thanks for your comments... and it's admirable that you think that way, wanting to help the content creators :-) Thank you for that! Thanks for the feedback too, all true! Cheers :-)
Question? Think about it, why should anyone care about a comment from someone you don't even know. Shit I don't even care about what people say that I know. Simple concept, your opinion of me doesn't define who I am. Great video
You're absolutely right! Unfortunately I think a lot of people ARE affected by negative comments even coming from strangers. I'm just trying to point out exactly what you said... those comments don't define you.... they're more a reflection on the person who wrote the comment. Thanks for sharing! :-)
That's a great way to look at it :-)
Thank you for this.
You have a wonderful attitude. Thank you for sharing your experience and helping spread the message! All the best :-)

I found your channel yesterday’ and I’ve enjoyed your videos. Fear of negativity kept me from starting a channel but I finally started one in 2022. I haven’t showed my face yet , so I need to get brave and do that so it’ll grow. Anyways , have a great day!
Best of luck with it!! :-)
Cheers :-)
Same here!
Great video! I struggled with negative comments on my videos for a while. It took a while for me to not let it bother me. Once I realized that trolls comment on EVERYONE'S channel it made it easier. I love your reminder that it's "their" problem. ☺
That's awesome, Happy! Way to power through it and congrats on your channel! It is most definitely their problem :-) Thanks for sharing!
Trolls do not realize they are helping your channel. That's the irony.
Right!? Very ironic indeed! Haha :-)
Agree 👍👍
I liked your point, people that make hurtful comments aren’t the audience you are trying to reach. I just started watching your videos and am finding them very helpful. Thanks
I wish they helped my channel 😅
I love that attitude!
Mate I don’t know how I found you but mate , you inspire me. Keep going mate !
Thank you so much! I'm glad I can help in some way. Best of luck to you :-)
Hi Rob thank you for sharing.
I'm so glad you find the video helpful! Welcome and thanks for the kind words :-)
It’s upsetting. I always dwell for a bit but I know I shouldn’t. Thanks for the encouragement.
Knowing you shouldn't dwell on it is a great first step. The next step is actually NOT dwelling on it lol! Best of luck!
So glad I found your channel 🎉 I feel less alone with it alll 🙏
Thank you for your kind words :-)
Yes! I feel the same way! This channel is quickly becoming my very favorite ❤️
Thank you Rob your information is valuable we appreciate your transparency ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you! I'm glad you find it helpful :-)
I admire your courage and your dedication. You are an inspiration. Keep up the great work.
Thank you so much!
Thanks Andy! Love your videos... keep up the great work :-)
@@RobtheMaritimer Much appreciated, Rob! And right back at ya!
Thank you so much for the kind words! And thanks for sharing :-)
My reply to the hater: Thank you for watching my video and posting a comment. Make sure to tap that Like button and Subscribe for more awful content.
Haha well played :-)
I really appreciated your candor in this video. It was the pep talk I needed as I get my channel going. Thank you!
Awesome! Best of luck with it!!
Okay… just one video and you have me convinced to make some videos. Thank you! I enjoy your down-to-earth style.
Thank you for the kind words :-) And welcome!
62 here and my daughter finally got me to start a channel. This will be a fun hobby since I’m not doing anything anyway but love to stay busy. I too worried about the negatives but so what..just going to dive right in and stay strong. We will see how well I handle it. Hopeful.
That’s the attitude!! Good luck to you and have fun! :-)
There will always be people who vent their anger with comments to innocent third parties just because they can't cope with their own world and are looking for an outlet. And, like I mentioned before at one of your last videos, thanks for the bloopers and outtakes - they make your videos somehow more likeable and human.
Thank you for the kind words and your comments! Cheers :-)
That's not a bad strategy either! Cheers :-)
Great advice!! All the best to you :-)
I immediately cringe whenever a message pops up saying I have a comment on one of my channels, hoping it's not negative.
Yup.
That's a fantastic way to look at it!! They're like "hidden fans" haha! Thanks for commenting :-)
Oh!! Forgot to mention, me and June, my cat! Love the bloopers!!!!!
Haha awesome!!
Hi Rob 👋 I was one of the ones who was wondering where Peanut was 😃 Glad to see her cosy and content 💤 and I’m glad to find out her name 🥜🥰
Stay happy and positive 💚🍀✨💫
Happy and positive ALWAYS!! Have a great day :-)
I just wanted you to know that I’m getting closer and closer to getting started on YT and other channels all because of you.
You are so authentic and cover all of the things that have been factors in holding me back.
I’ve been subscribed from my other account and now subscribed from here, the account that I hope to start my channel with. I truly appreciate you!
That's great Rayne Marie!! Thank you so much for the kind words :-) I wish you all the best in your journey!! :-)
@@RobtheMaritimer thank you!
I appreciate the bloopers at the end, but I will say do not be hard on yourself you are doing great. I like the conversational style very much.
I appreciate that!
Rob, I really appreciate all the effort you put into your videos.
They are very inspiring and helpful. Please keep them coming.
Thank you so much! More videos are on the way ;-)
I'm about to start my TH-cam Channel and I'm now working with Camtasia Studio and thanks to you I've upgraded from the 2020 version to 2024 version and will keep up the maintenance!
Sounds great! I hope you enjoy Camtasia and I wish you all the best! :-)
It's absolutely ridiculous that someone would send you negative comments. You are a person giving honest assistance to others in a very respectful manner. How can someone slam that? Keep up the great work!
Thank you for your kindness :-)
Thank you so much! All the best to you as well :-)
There are a lot of miserable people out in the world who will attack anyone/anything rather than looking in the mirror and improving their own lives. There's also a massive and ongoing mental health crises going on in the USA. Don't let these people bring you down.
Great advice!!
Thank you. I learned from this video. Also thank you for the bloopers at the end. You make me laugh and you show up so human and real. Subscribed!
Welcome aboard! I'm glad you liked the video :-)
Thank you for this video. So helpful to know what can be done about it. It was a main fear that put me off even trying. Now I'll seriously consider starting ☺️❤️
I’m glad it helped! Good luck to you :-)
Yes it's very tough and hard. There is no need for it. Just realise it's out of your control. I've desensitised myself to all of it and it has given me so much power.
That's awesome! Keep going! Best of luck :-)
@RobtheMaritimer Thank you Sir. All the best to you too my friend.
This is some really good advice. Negative comments are one of the top things that keep people from creating positive content. I think your strategy here is great. I am just getting started (in my 40’s) and I will be following this advice. Thank you!
Best of luck to you with your channel! :-)
Unhappy people will spread their misery around.
You are a happy person so leave them in your dust.
They can try :) Strangers sending negative comments really don’t matter… so I choose to not let them affect me :-)
Great video. The haters make you money too. Don't take it personally.
Great way to look at it! :-)
Keyboard warriors......People who have self-hatred. I like the tips you offered about them! Thank you

ignore them Rob, You're doing a great job. I've learned a lot from your tutorials - Thanks!
Thank you :-)
Rob, you're more than an average guy. You're an amazing person. The trolls of the world can all hang out under the bridge together. Stay strong!
Wow thank you so much! Thank you for the kind words - Cheers :-)
Thank you for this! As someone growing their channel it can really get to you. I read or heard recently that most people leaving these comments are people who are not as successful as you are. That could be subscriber count or overall channel reactions. Keep on keepin' on!
That could very well be! Thanks and best of luck :-)
Your bluenoser personality is a wonderful find on youtube. Ive really been enjoying your videos!! Hello from Ontario
Hey Ontario! And thank you so much for the kind words :-)
Best of luck to you :-)
Awesome! I’m glad you’re continuing this format, inspired me to talk more on my last video too 😊
My current issue is the lack of comments, definitely better no comments than bad though, but I’d love to know how to increase comments
@@RobtheMaritimer those are great ideas! Thanks 🙏 I’ll try on my latest video
I'm glad this resonated with you :-) Best of luck!!
I would encourage you to start! :) While there are some mean people, you'll find the MAJORITY of people are supportive. Focus on the majority! :)
Rob, continue to push forward and your comfort with your subscribers will grow along with your confidence.
Thank you :-)
Hard to imagine you getting negative comments considering your benign content.
You are doing great tutorials and feel thankful ❤
Thank you so much!
I always say to friends... When you start to get haters that's mean you're in the right way to success 😅
@@ImGerry So true !
That's a great way to look at it... and so true!! Thanks for sharing :-)
This is amazing LIFE COACH info too!! 😊
I'm happy you think so :-) All the best!
I'm so glad I found your channel!
Welcome!!
Totally. 🎉
I'm glad it helped! Best of luck :-)
Thank you Rob for preparing for these kind of instances
My pleasure! :-)
I think your response to this is well said and mature. More of this in the world, please, less reaction, more reason.
This hasn't been a major worry for me but definitely has come to mind. Thanks for discussing the topic.
Thank you... and I'm happy for you not having to deal with it :-)
Rob, you are such a blessing to all of us ❤ Simply love you!
Cheers :-)
@@RobtheMaritimer So true, Rob! 100% agree with you
This is me all the way so scared of the negativity in the world however, I'm trying to do the uncomfortable in hopes that others will do the same! Many blessings to all! Thank you for this information!

And please, continue making these videos
Thank you so much! And that's right... that's me, no acting lol! I'm just talking to the camera like I'd talk to someone I know :-)
@@RobtheMaritimer how do you usually pick a topic for next video?
Thank you for the kind words! I'll try to keep it lit!! ;-)
Cheers!
@@RobtheMaritimer Yes, better to keep it a happy place. 😀
Great video Rob… it takes courage and a shield 🛡️to do what you do… and you got both even if we can’t see it.
That’s the MIRACLE of acting as if….

Thank you so much :-)
I left Facebook because I had friends of differing opinions arguing on my page. And caustic people too. I have been asked to do a podcast and to do a TH-cam channel but I have become a more serene person now that I am no longer in the limelight. If I have anything to say I would probably put it on paper, bound and stitched.
Writing things down on paper is a great creative outlet as well :-) All the best!
JMO. Larry
Great advice!! Thanks for sharing :-)
I totally agree! It's their problem and you have to ignore people like that. I think that dealing with negativity is truly a skill that can be learned, although it can be really hard at first for a sensitive person. I like @BissellMapleFarm 's comment...you can use the troll's to help you improve yourself. 😆
Great advice! Thank you for your comments :-)
Such a great message. Appreciate you keeping it real. 👍
I'm glad it resonated with you :-) Thank you for watching!
@@RobtheMaritimer thank you and you too. I enjoy watching your videos even though I don't comment a lot on YT😊

Do you have a video where you talk about how you use your sound system in detail? How the microphone works with XLR connection and how to connect it to the computer?
Is there a mixer that goes in between?
I do talk a great deal about my audio setup here: th-cam.com/video/lZg8PSVsyio/w-d-xo.html
To answer your question, yes... my XLR mic goes into a simple audio interface (not a mixer, just an interface... the Scarlett Focusrite 2i2) and then that connects to my Macbook.
Hi Rob, I missed your last live, I'm going to watch it now, keep it up my friend...hugs

PD: by the way, when i asked about why u don't get desmoralized I meant why u didn't stop (like a lot of TH-camrs) when you have NO views, or few subscribers, thanks!
100% agree :-)
A lot of TH-camrs DO stop and give up if they don't see results as fast as they'd like.

Hate comments are unhappy people showing their true self so don’t worry about them keep doing your best 🙏🏿✌🏾
Great advice! :-)
Ok here is a random question: what do you do with the bot threads in your comments section? Delete? Reply? Leave alone? Is there a best practice?
Perfect! Great attitude to have :-)
I made the mistake of doing a video about a very caustic Internet thing that instantly causes anger.
Just something to think about :-)
This was great advice!!❤
Glad it was helpful!
Someone else’s opinion of me is none of my business. I like to leave them on my channel, that way others can see who they are.
Well said, appreciate your take on this
Thank you :-)
What mic/sound setup you using it sounds so clear
I use the Synco Mic D2 shotgun mic and the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface.
Fantastic thank you.
Trolls actually help your channel, it is an attention getting for your awesome channel
Yes in a weird way it does help :-)
How may I pre-order your program
love what you said here
and I think your videos are amazing
and you are an amazing person
thanks for giving me something so nice in my life
btw because of your videos my TH-cam channel is doing very very well
god bless
Thank you so much!
Good advice. Thanks 👍🤗
You’re welcome 😊
