tf2 is balanced pretty well, because it has only 9 characters, the same ones the game came out with each with it's own unique mechanics and purpose
instead they add weapons to spice up the gameplay which are a lot easier to balance than characters
And it prevents role overlap, which makes characters less interesting to play
@@ItsGamein the last weapons they added were: a banana, a literal (close range) fire ball launcher, a gas can you can throw at people and a goddamn jetpack
freaking beautiful
@@vitaleriof The fire ball launcher was great tho but the gas? WHY TF DOES IT TAKE 800 damage to charge it? Jetpack was great and It has funni stomp stomp and banana is just banana
What's ironic is that early in OWs development, during the beta, there was this idea that OW would be easier to balance than games with weapon loadouts due to clearly defined roles.
However, those rigid roles ended up being the ultimate thorn in Overwatch's side when it came to balance. In TF2, you can easily change weapons to counter the opposing teams strengths, or bolster your teams weaknesses, but in Overwatch, you have to play a completely different character, with their own set of unavoidable weaknesses.
@@vitaleriof"the banana" literally adds a faster way of getting HP, the "fire ball launcher" is a pyro primary that takes more actual aim to use with much more reward. The erm... gas can... No comment. The jetpack was also revolutionary for allowing pyro to become a highly mobile class, also allowing people to axtinguisher garden (even if it was nerfed) without using the detonator or scorchshot

@@russianoverkill3715 I agree and disagree. Instead valve should make it easier for sniper to be countered by first nerfing the shields he has and maybe even adding a day where you physically cannot play sniper or maybe one day they could give the caber 125 damage threshold so It can one tap sniper.
@@blitzworldace just go watch a video where sniper gets removed as an experiment, it gets obvious that sniper brings nothing to the game but makes it less fun.
Every game has game sense
LIKE EVERY FUCKING GAME
Valve simply doesn't have the hunger in their bellies and the fire under their feet that other game devs have.
Makes me so happy to see ow2 and tf2 fans just chilling, both games have unique charm from characters/art direction and different playstyles (one being competitive the other more casual). While ow2 isn’t the game for me I’m happy you found two games you can enjoy!
Now all we need is an official collab between the two games, that would be almost perfect.
There is like only 1 Game Developer working on TF2 now, Valve's years old radio silence and cheaters & aimbots are more important to solve because you barely can enjoy the game no matter how good it is if there is obvious spinbot sniper, closet cheater or other types of cheater on your team or enemy team. I was a big fan of OW1 before competitive took over and slowly drained any love i once had for the game patch-by-patch over the first few seasons.
TF2 has everything I loved about OG Overwatch and more, it's the only game I've found that really fills that void.
For me has been the opposite, I fell in love with Tf2 at the start of the pandemic and played it to hell and back slowly losing my appreciation and interest at Tf2's thousand cuts of issues until I ultimately stopped caring about it, later on mid 2022 I bought Overwatch because I was desperate for any kind of new experience and it instantly hooked me, I've been playing it since then and I can confidently say that I find more enjoynment in Overwatch than in Tf2.
Like, this might sound weird, but I find a Comp Ow match more chill than any kind of Tf2 match, the vibes are just that different.

The only thing close to a "meta" in TF2 is having a medic on your team.
there is a very hard meta in pro play that has not changed for like the past 10+ years, but most people just play tf2 casually and to have fun with crazy loadouts, regardless if they are actually good or not
@@lilwintery6434 the meta has changed so much in the last 15 years of competitive play. The standard class lineup hasn't changed but basically everything else has evolved a ton.
@@pyrotechnic96 yeah technically you're right i know what you mean with the skill of the player base improving, gunboats, demo nerf, pocket scout being a thing now, and items changes
but these changes are minior compared to meta shifts ow, i started playing in 2014 and the midfight, and overall positioning and team goals are the same, you can watch old guides and still get relevant information
in ow the meta's are much more different and varied from each other, you can go from playing csgo lite with snipers to something like tf2 6s with a projectile dive meta, or even a meta that's like smite with lower mobility and "brawl" ranged heroes
in ow you can be bad on one meta and good on another because the playstyles are completely different
Its always nice seeing videos of people playing my favorite game for the first time, I just hope the single Valve developer (yes it's confirmed only one Valve employee is doing work on TF2) finds a way to take care of the bots for good so more people can play it and get the same experience that I did when I first played instead of a lobby full of bots

What I love about tf2 weapon balancing is that it’s rarely ever about slight stat upgrades but by giving all non stock weapons a gimmick, like the air strike having increased firing speed while in the air, or the le’tranger trading damage for benefits to cloaking, or the banners for soldier and shields for demo, the flare guns for pyro incentivizing switching between the flame thrower and the flare for massive burst damage potential

Glad you enjoyed the game! I’ve been playing since 2012 and every time I come back my muscle memory kicks in and once I start rocket jumping I immediately remember why I love this game so much. The pure freedom of movement in this game is unrivaled in anything else I’ve played.
I also have hundreds of hours of OW, playing since 2016. I like OW because I’m someone that has random itches to play different play styles and playing all the different heroes helps with that. But I’ve always been more agitated on average playing OW because of some abilities being ridiculously oppressive offensively and defensively. Which leads to a feeling of not being out skilled but the player just pressed a button better than you did.
Fighting over games is stupid, as a just a simple TF2 fan i welcome you to the comunity whit open arms, i hope you have fun
I think an important part of the loadouts that bears emphasis is that, in almost every instance, alternate options are not straight upgrades. Stock loadouts are completely viable for all classes, and are in many cases one of the best in slot options due to being incredibly well balanced. The most common exception to this is melee weapons on classes who already do absurd close range damage with their primary, such as scout, heavy, and pyro.

I liked your video! I've been playing TF2 since 2009 and it's been a blast for each year. This is an ageless game
Have you played "tf2 classic" and "open fortress" ?
These are separate multiplayer games created in the same style from fans.
"It doesn't have any repetitive lobbies." That's because you don't have competitive experience. TF2 competitive community decided a meta that is "most fun" and used community rulesets to ban any other way of play. On top of this, the competitive scene is dominated by one super team Froyo who are on ANOTHER MULTIYEAR WIN STREAK. Despite TF2's growing playerbase, it's comp viewers are declining, because no one wants to watch the same returning champion team win again using the same strategy they've used for 8+ years. It would be like if Smash Bros. leagues banned all characters except for Fox and Marth, and 1 fox main won 80% of world tournaments. It doesn't matter that fox is "fast" or "satisfying", because people don't want to watch the same match 10000 times.
Here's a recent example, Demoman players always use the grenade launcher / iron bomber. Recently, pro Demoman players have started to prefer the Loch n Load because they are starting to see that having faster grenades may be a slight advantage compared to having rollers. This possible minor meta shift happened after 6 years of NO balance patches. And you know how the TF2 community responded to this? One of the leagues already banned the weapon. This is how cartoonishly resistant TF2 is to a meta change.
As a TF2 Fan and a OW ex-fan. My hopes for OW 2 was that they would use the scrapped abilities from the PvE progression and add ability loadouts to the game. When they chose not to, I really had no interest in trying OW 2, because my faith in OW was already burned by some of the terribly designed heroes they added near OW 1's development end. Characters like SIgma and Brig at launch acted like a damp towel on the last remaining bit of fun that game had.
You should see what happens when you use overwatch terms in comms
"I have never seen a game, with such a dedicated fan base that's still willing to play a game that hasn't had a major update in 7 years"
Geometry dash:
i feel like, tho it's sad that Valve left the game, it didn't leave the game unfinished, we got what we needed, the game is completed, while we do not want the game to die, the game is already done and eventually will of course, die.
The bot problem is horrible ofc, but outside that, the game doesn't need anything else, a major update would be great but, it isn't REALLY necessary, getting rid of the bot problem is the best that Valve should do, at least from my perspective.

2:35 i think this is one of the biggesst reason why people rarely move on from tf2, the fact that MOST weapons are poweful "single shot" weapons and the most prominentones are projectiles means that this game can both have high ttk and high damage. since you can safely count how many pipes/grenades/shotgun shots/crit flares are needed to hit someone. rather than tracking the enemy down waiting for he/she to die. it gives dondging slightly more feedback too since you usually can see the opponent miss. this kinda works in favour of tf2 too, since tf2's movement is very limited unless you're creative.

In Overwatch, I notice that there's a lot more pressure to play specific classes in order to have a team that has a good enough balance to fight against the enemy (if no one goes healer, you're just not gonna have an easy time)
In TF2, since it's normally a 12v12, there's less pressure on people to play specific classes, allowing some leeway for people to play as what they want. Hell, you don't even need to have a good balance of classes on the team, Heck, I've won entire games by getting our entire team to go Demoknight/Phlog Pyro/Engineer/Heavy/etc.

When you are disguised as a sniper as spy and saying you are trying to fool them you're holding a melee as your disguise so it just looks like your A D ing as a sword sniper from 5 miles away from the enemy and I just thought that was funny! Great video btw!
Man, watching this as a tf2 fan is so weird, I keep hearing overwatch lingo and laughing to myself (muslek did the same thing when he came back to tf2 for the first time in awhile, its from the same video as the clip)
Tf2 doesnt age. It just adds temporary maps during Halloween and Christmas and then goes back to what it was before
Welcome to the right side of history
4:50 tip for Spy, never disguise as Scout, Spy will slow down to match the speed of whatever class he is disguised as, but never speed up nor gain any jumps, etc., and Scout as no items that lower his movement speed and items that either add or improve his jump so your about as obvious to spot as bull in a china shop when disguised as a Scout, also if your uncloaked when the Demo or Pyro respawn in this clip they will see you through walls for a short bit so long as your disguised as a member of the enemy team.
As for Scout, it's a good idea to always stay moving (you even have a clip in this video where you die because you weren't moving).
3:35 personally I like the Homewreaker as it allows me to remove Sappers from Engineer's buildings, along side the Nostromo Napalmer (stock Flamethrower reskin), and the Scorch Shot to finish off the Pybro loadout and allow some harrassment options, and for as much as people hate the weapon Scorch Shot is arguably the best secondary for Pybro (Pyro who sits on a Engineer nest),
it's little mini-double-donk stun + the AoE fire on explosion make it perfect to pair with a Sentry Gun, as if they get away they will likely die from afterburn or a follow up flare, or the stun will let the Sentry kill them, and it's great for harrassing Snipers or checking for Spys at long range, as neither class really likes being on fire.
The default setting viewmodel_fov is a claustrophobic nightmare
"If you lose is by your own fault, because there are no overpowered abilities. It's your own skill that determines the result of the battle."
Random crits: let me introduce myself
Wow! What an entertaining and respectable guy! I wonder if he is the same way in his discord PM's!
Hah fr?
Just note for new players, at some point you will recognize the ground as the enemy and will do your best to find spots where you’re probably not supposed to be in. This is normal.
I get that you’re an overwhatch player, but I immediately wanted to cry when I heard you call kills eliminations while tf2 was in the background 😭
The 70 FOV genuinely made me make noises in disgust when I first saw the gameplay
That's a very good thumbnail
What I like about TF2 when compared with Overwatch, is that the characters are inherently designed to be recognisable in game by their silhouette and their model colour. In Overwatch, you need a big red outline and a nametag above an enemy to really notice them, while in TF2, it's part of the visual design. Each team has a specific defined range of hues which stand out against the background and are distinct from each other, as well as their silhouettes being designed to be instantly recognisable.
It just says a lot about the effort put into the visual design of both games. Overwatch looks really really good, but TF2, you can clearly tell that the visual design is part of the gameplay. It truly is a special game, one the success of which will probably not be reached by another game for a long time. Even with almost no support for 7 years, it's still pulling 20 000 human players every day. That's something not many games can claim. The only one that comes to mind is Doom, the game that defined the fps genre as we know it and is one of the most legendary videogames of all time.
Just as Doom was a genre defining title, so too was TF2 a game that defined the class based shooter of today. Without TF2, there would probably be no Overwatch, no Apex, no Valorant, no Rainbox Six: Siege. It holds a special place not only in the hearts of its community members, but in the history of videogames.
Calling Team Fortress 2 as hell is an understatement
Even without the bots, fought wars here in asia by this point.
It's also probably because the voice actors are helping by just beeing awesome
seeing new players experiencing a game i'm so familiar with always makes me giddy
what characters did you gravitate towards?
TF2 Competitive META:
- Don't play spy
- Don't play gardener
- Protect the medic
- Be a good player (optional)
Quick tip, look up surfing. That’s the mechanic behind that map you were on in the last clip. You make momentum with the rocket jump then slide along that slanted wall to retain the momentum
There are afew comments about how he calls kills "elims" and... I can feel the rage. I understand how the people in the comments died a little inside everytime he said it. And yes I understand the whole "overwatch terminology" thing but it just hurts. It just hurts.
There was a time when developers has a freedom to put love in their games
Excellent video!
