2. bully takes the love of his life

4. lives the most difficult life possible only to protect the son of his loved one who chose dumbass James Potter over him

P.S: it was complete bullshit how Lily says to Snape "You're hanging out with the wrong people doing dark magic" and Snape says "well the people you hang out with bully me every day and hang me from trees" and Lily is all like "ummm who cares?"

Either way there are thousands of plot holes in Harry Potter because J.K. Rowling is a terrible writer so it's best to not overthink things. I mean have you seen the cursed child? J.K. Rowling thought of a really cool concept but very poorly executed.

James Potter truly was horrible to Snape.
James was a bully, way before Snape became one, after the death of Lily. James was rich and arrogant - Snape grew up poor and constantly neglected. Doesn't justify his behaviour of course, but it's still a sad explanation for it.
After rewatching the movies recently this makes me laugh 😂 harry was always defending his Dad who he never met. “My father did not strut!” How do you know harry? Did he tell you?! God.
It also did not help that James Potter was a Pure-Blood Wizard whose parents died of Dragon Pox and Severus Snape was a Half-Blood Wizard (a Muggle father and a Witch mother) who had both his parents but who himself was neglected.
@@eclipseddolls1348 Harry was under that impression because most people that knew James had only great things to say about him, Snape was the exception and Harry hardly trusted him to take his word for it.
Its funny. I remember Harry thinking his father must have forced Lily to marry him. That's how much of a bully he is. LOL
Alan Rickman was such an amazing actor, I cannot imagine anyone else depicted Snape in such a complex and heartfelt way.

Personally I think Snape was the greatest wizard of his generation.
Not only was he a master in potions, becoming so good that he corrected mistakes in a textbook. But he also discovered new spells, of which were very powerful (personally I think septum sempra should have been made an unforgivable curse)
He also put his own life at risk, more than anyone else in thr series
the ministry didn’t know about sectumspempra at the time but it could be an unforgivable curse

Plus Snape was most likely street smart since he spent most of his childhood in a rather rough neighborhood. I think his street smarts and book smarts compensate his significant lack of people smarts. XD

When Snape begged Voldemort to spare Lily's life, Lily was given an opportunity to use the protection charm. Voldemort gave her several chances to step aside. In a way it was really Snape who gave Lily the choice to save her son...to use the protection charm. Otherwise Lily would have died without any choice like James and Harry would NOT have had the protection on him. And he would have died and the story would cease to exit. It's so easy to think Lily was so brave and so smart, she died protecting Harry. Let's not forget that Snape was the even more brave one for begging Voldemort to spare a muggles life. He is the backbone of this whole series.
Snape is the saddest character I know. He has to go through abuse and bullying. He has to watch the one he loves most marry his enemy who bullied him. He protects her son Harry all these years but Harry doesn't know until the end when Snape is dying from a tragic and sad death. It is sad how deep his love is for Lily but Lily did not have the same back. She held that grudge from Snape calling her a Mudblood forever, instead of forgiving him. Rowling wrote that he begged for forgiveness, but she just wouldn't look past that. That's why I'm not a big fan of Lily. To be honest I don't find James attractive as a person at all neither. He seems more unlikable to me than Snape. He should not be in Gyffindor if he was such a bully.
... And the fact that Snape was a triple agent! Seriously that is just near impossible to pull of. But that's why so many of us feel so much for Snape. His character story is so deep and so amazing.

Honestly the most depressing character story. His one love leaves him for his enemy because he made a mistake. He then is asked to protect her child, and then the one child he is protecting doesn’t respect him or appreciate him because he can’t tell him what is actually happening. Then once he finally is able to tell him he gets killed and can’t tell him, or even see Harry’s appreciation. Talk about a hero. Out of all the characters he is the most heroic by far, then Dumbledore and then Potter/Hermine/Ron

Sirius fault 100%. The guy was a moron. And being from Black family, wouldn't be surprised that being a dickhead was also his secondary talent. It kind of makes sense, why they tried to keep him in Azkaban, even people who had suspicions about him not being a mass murderer. He was a danger to everyone around him.

Indeed life is not fair. Snape's situation (The bullying / crush part / unrequited love) is actually something that can happen and happens to anyone in real life. Lilly seemed to like James more, and she might not have been a real friend for Snape.

Sectum Sempra is honestly such an impactful spell in the series. It is pure vindictive rage in the form of an invisible blade.Honestly felt the most personal when Voldemort used it on Snape,poetic to go out by your own technique
Ya'know, I would've loved to see an alternative outcome in where Snape and Evans would end up together, I mean I know It'll no longer be the story of Harry Potter but I think It'll be equally as interesting to see how it would play out. I'd also like to see what it would've been like if Longbottom had become the chosen one, Neville could've definitely played the role well. I guess we'll never know. Also my personal opinion, Lily was very naive to believe a random bully than her own friend.

Neville was the chosen one in his own right. The only difference was choice. Neville was the one who did things that only a chosen one could do, like wield the sword of griffendor to kill the snake. No one could but harry and neville.

So finally I have a Brain. Petunia is Harry’s mean strict aunt. But all this time while raising Harry, she knew about Hogwarts. She even begged Dumbledore to come with her sister, Lily, aka Harry’s mother.
Wow, I’ve never seen the letter Petunia sent to Dumbledore before, that’s heartbreaking to read. She wanted so much to be like her sister and be part of that world 😢
It also doesn't help that Petunia Evans Dursley has to live and die with the knowledge that she will always be Lily Evans Potter's Muggle older sister because Petunia can't perform magic and Lily can.
It's also possible, though unlikely, that the Evans family might have been descended from Squibs, who are from Wizarding Families but who are unable to produce Magic, as well as Muggles, who are also referred to as No-Majs, or Non-Magical.

i always knew he was secretly a good guy like way before the reveal. I kept thinking why is this guy still here in hogwarts, he's sounds all evil and dark. But as the story keeps going and he is always invovled some how, i started feeling like he is secretly a good guy and prolly has some secrets since he knew harries parents.

I feel like this Snape story is the most realistic one. It also shows the more realistic side of Dumbledore. He wasn't a simple boy scout. The characters were selfish and very flawed. They felt human.

I actually feel really bad for Snape even though he is a fictional character. He spent his whole life loving someone who didn't love him, risking he life for harry and then Harry called him a coward. Everyone despised him because they thought he was a mean and spiteful person even though he wasn't! He grew up with terrible parents aswell. Snape deserved much more and honestly I think he was one of the best and bravest people in Harry Potter!

I am 32 years old, and have been a fan of the Harry Potter books (first) and then later movies since I was 9 or 10 years old, read all the books, but don't remember a lot of information. This video was better than the movies IMO, very well done. Actually made me cry. Thank you

.Snape sucks. The only reason he did good things is because of Lily or because he owed Dumbledore. The only reason he protected Harry in the first book, because he felt like he was in his fathers debt. He only didn’t want Harry to die because he felt like he was “used” and basically all the gold things he did had not so good reasons behind them. First off, if you think it was because he was bullied or abused, Harry got abused, Harry got bullied, and he didn’t become a death eater or any of that. Snape chose to be a death eater without any grooming or manipulation like draco had from his father Lucius Malfoy. Snape didn’t love Lily, snape was obsessed over her, big difference. Love comes with respect, Snape didn’t care about any of the people lily cared about and had no problem hurting them. He just had a creepy infatuation over her and that is just creepy. He got mad because Lily didn’t want to be with PEOPLE WHO WANT TO BE DEATH EATERS. LIKE WHICH GRYFINDOR WOULD WANT THAT. And about the owing Dumbledore thing, Dumbledore sucks too. Dumbledore is just an egotistical chess master who only sees humans and people as chess pieces and doesn’t care if they die and only cares about himself achieving the greater good. Like he raised Harry just for him to do whatever he wants him to do just for him to be killed. And just think about this, if Harry was a like a little version of Lily Potter and was a girl,just think about how creepy he would be to her like just think about that. That’s just confirmation he’s a bad person

I feel bad for Snape. He had such a unfair life, from getting bullied by James to getting blamed on everything then finally to his death.
At least his sacrifices and suffering weren't in vain.
I can’t imagine how terrified Snape must have been every time he was in Voldemort’s presence, every time he was summoned he probably thought “this is it” the bravery of that man.
Goes to show how insanely powerful his mindset was. Guess he achieved it by thoroughly convincing himself that working as a teacher in Hogwarts and being a member of the Order was just a facade for his "real" work as a Deatheater, and thus Voldemort never detected any trace of betrayal when he talked or stared directly at Snape

That moment always gives me chills and makes me cry. Snape's love for Lily was that powerful even almost 2 decades after her death. It's even more impactful when you realize even Dumbledore a man who kept a good control over his emotions started to cry.
If you guys think about it lily really wasn’t a good friend to snake when they were younger…..her helping him from James was very half assed and it was obvious she already liked James a little even while knowing that he was constantly bullying snape. I know she knew they were bullying him. Then during their last time interacting with each other as kids she laughed at him being tormented. Lily isn’t innocent and yet snape still loved her and continued to risk his life for her James even after they died. She was a bad and ungrateful friend.

What makes Snape so amazing is that fact he died without people knowing his true nature. People believed him evil even after his death. In order to truly keep Harry safe he would have to die a villain. Which makes him so much more of a hero because he didnt care about his image. He went though more suffering than anyone in the film and never truly got what he deserved. Even casual viewers believe Snape the bad guy. He gave everything to protect Harry. His life. His legacy.

I actually think that snape's bullying harry is kinda response to being bullied by James (despite the fact that harry was a child of the guy he didn't like and woman he loved the most). You know, like he probably should get mature with time, as James did, but he couldn't overcome his pain. So kinda he couldn't get over that negative feelings and sorrow, what made him the way he was to other people. Maybe if he wasn't bullied in the past he would be somewhat different towards Harry and others?
