  • This video is much longer than my others because Snape's moments are much harder to sever from their respective scenes . . . so maybe this video should be named, "Top 10 Severus Snape Scenes."

    If you ask me Severus was the real true tragic hero of this series. That "You have your mother's eyes scene" chokes me out to water works city. He met a girl, fell in love with her and then losses her to the guy who bullies him. Then he struggles himself to try to not bully their kid but he's only human dammit.
    But In the end somehow his love for Harry's mom was more then his hatred of Harry's dad which makes him an ultimate romantic and that unfortunately spells out his eventual Shakespeareanesque early demise. Ain't love grand?

    He gave his entire life to the cause, in memory and bitter love for Lily, and in care for her son.
    He took on the monster everyone thought him to be, he played his role and never backed down. He witnessed the murder of his friends and loved ones, he saw them spit on him, hate him and he even murdered the only friend and mentor who ever knew the truth about him. Then finally, he died at the hands of the very enemy he sacrificed his life for in order to undo him, never to see and to know the end of the story.
    That, I would say, is a real hero.

    • @Ben6164
      @Ben6164 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I guess. He didn't care for Harry, though, he hated him - regardless of how the movies portrayed things, Snape wasn't doing it for him. He was doing it in memory of his (subjectively) unsavoury obsession toward Lily. That was the only reason he wasn't still working for Voldemort - he initially asked Dumbledore to keep merely Lily safe; not the boy in danger.

    One thing that always struck me in particular about Dumbledore's death scene that other people don't seem to talk about much is that Dumbledore looked at Harry, than to Snape, and Snape seemed to be looking downwards like he was looking at Harry as well. Snape was essentially being asked to be hated by the wizard world, to give up his entire life in order to kill him and fulfill their secretive mission, and to kill his closest friend which would obviously make him hesitate.. but the one thing that no one ever talks about is that it was all being done in front of Harry. What if Snape was hesitant to do it in front of Harry because Harry would obviously than hate him and refuse to ever be around him again? He'd be giving up the last thing he had of Lily which was Harry, and she was the only thing he ever loved in the world. He always dealt with resentment from his peers but to give up the last thing he had of her would be especially devastating.
    Dumbledore may've been saying "please" in response to seeing Snape hesitating over Harry. I wonder if that was deliberate and thought of.
