  • In today's episode of the "Great Leadership With Jacob Morgan" we talk with the Harvard College Career Adviser Gorick Ng who specialized in coaching first-generation, low-income students.
Gorick Ng is the author of the Wall Street Journal Bestseller "The Unspoken Rules" who drew inspiration from his mother, who was highly effective at her work but couldn’t secure a job.
In my conversation with Gorick we talked about how he realized that many unprivileged people don’t have the chance to secure high-paying jobs due to their ignorance of the so-called “informal” education. We talked about how potential employees must skillfully sell their capabilities and recognize the importance of the corporate world’s unspoken rules and went deep into the secrets to starting your career off right.

As someone who has worked for over a decade thinking their work will speak for itself, I appreciate that Gorick is sharing this knowledge, he is right, and I'm certainly going to use it. But I still hate that we live in a system where my work can't speak for itself. Seems like we're wasting a lot of energy on meaningless things.

    Brilliant 💙
Jacob could you tell how to beat & outsmart the competition in the field of freelancing or online entrepreneurship in an effective way to establish ourselves completely in the market ? Are there any books on this subject to get some details...

I appreciate the episode but I would recommend minimising having to interrupt your host mid-idea or mid-explanation
