Gorick Ng was absolutely phenomenal. There's so much talk about working towards academic and professional equality and helping minorities succeed. And so little measurable work towards actually reaching that goal. Gorick is the one who actually does the work. His generosity to share this information from the goodness of his heart is rare. I soaked up this entire interview and I feel energized and better prepared. I would love to see him come back here. Thank you to the interviewer who also helped bring important points to add to the conversation.
This video made my day! A frank conversation on what schools don't teach and it's instrumental in having success in a corporate career. This video is full of teachings and I will come back to watch it again to capture new insights over time. Thanks for uploading
Unspoken rules are not spoken not because we don't know, but because it's not the right thing to say or write. Like it is so wrong but so important to schmooze/kiss ass/sleep/flirt with bosses for someone to gain favor because people are supposed to focus on their work, their performance. It just turns out that morality often loses out to the manipulation of human weaknesses. What is good for the organization is not necessarily good for your personal advancement. I doubt this is written in the book. You may call me cynical or arrogant but reading this paragraph i just wrote is worth a thousand times more than the entire book written by a failed BCG associate.
