Do you have a problem losing focus when out on the water?
No, I have a problem focusing too much whenever we get there and the GF was one wanting to go fishing
My sunglasses help me focus on long bobbers out in water. There a fishing sunglasses, I forget which kind. Blocks sunlight a lot.
There are times when I am completely unfocused. Usually stress related because about a thousand other things that have to get done I’m worried about. And of course the fishing takes a huge hit because of it.
As someone who struggles with clinical ADHD, I can relate to that! Focus is certainly not one of my strong suits, lol!
@LowBrowFishing practice practice practice. I struggle to fish slowly and the hardest thing I've ever done is sit still.
Great info Lb. A great reminder, I have done that a lot. this is the start of my 2nd year in a boat. Thank you very much!!
Thank you so much for watching!
It's like you made this video specifically for me 😂😂😂
These are pretty common problems that anglers deal with.
This one lake I fish, which is kinda shallow, I always catch more on weightless worms than Texas style!
Weightless worms can catch tons of fish!
Last weekend it was very windy. I wasn't sure what to throw. Tried a top water popper, then a spinnerbait, a frog, t rigged soft plastic...no bites. Walked my way back around the lake and reveresed the order I was throwing the same baits...nothing. I changed the color of my worm, black to red shad and boom, landed a nice 2 pounder. It was a slow day people weren't even getting bluegills to bite. Edit: to answer your question no, I never lose focus.
Sometimes you have to grind for it, but that makes those good bites even better!
Past history-itis. So so true! I actually have no qualms with fishing from memory. If we didn't fish from memory some, we wouldn't have any experiences to bring to the table. HOWEVER, it will only get you so far . Sometimes it works as hoped and other times....well, if I dogmatically stick with what worked the last time or with the same locations as before, and ignore what the fish are telling me (or NOT telling me), than I'm going to have plenty of fishless days. I only give a certain pattern or location so long before I shift to something or some place new. As with everything, sometimes I find a new pattern and sometimes I don't. Every day (and sometimes ever HOUR) is different. There is never any guarantee. And there are better fishermen than me. But, again, if I stick with something that isn't working (anymore), I'm sure to stink up the place.
Some of my best fish were caught when I wasn't paying attention (which usually this means I'd been fishing the bait too fast or not deep enough). But if I pay attention to how I wasn't paying attention (i.e., figure out what I was doing differently), it can lead to more fish in the boat.
Thanks for watching and sharing!
Of course I'm distracted when I'm fishing with a 9-year-old he is constantly making mistakes I have started turning the trip into a competition so that he will concentrate more and it has worked Now I have to work on getting him to understand conditions grassy lakes let's go wacky rig weightless sanko fluke weightless anything that looks like it's Dying windy conditions Spinner bait and swim bait We are making those memories
It's great to fish with kids! I remember when my boys were little and I used to take them with me to the lake. They're in their 30s. now. Time really flies!
Awesome! Thanks so much!
It is almost like you have been following me around watching me struggle ! Great info for exactly what i have been dealing with, i get so frustrated i just tie on another and another and another , just to get skunked . Thanks to this video i have some new tools. Thanks lowbrow you Rock !!
I'm happy you found it helpful! Thanks for watching!
Thanks
Thank you!
Focus on what I am doing 🤔 Good idea Sir 👊😎 Certainly explains why I can’t catch fish 😉
I lose focus way more than I'd like to admit!
These are the videos I like best. I really get a lot of info and it doesn't cost anything.
I'm happy they're helping you!
As a kayak fisherman I like to paddle back into this hidden coves and anchor down. That forces me to pick apart the entire area that’s in casting distance. If I come empty, move on knowing I worked it over good. Having an anchor trolly makes it easy and fast to deploy, retrieve and position the yak.
It's good to be able to get into the waters big boats can't get to.
Lowbrow, this was really great and your point #1 - focus, each cast. That hit home, about a month ago I learned a real hard lesson, had just cast out a drop shot and I hadn''t started to tighten my line. On top of that I was looking at something on the water and not my line. A big one hit me and took off immediately, I frantically tried to reel up and catch up to the fish, when I did it was too late, the bass spit the hook and that was that. Missed chance due to my lack of focus!
Losing a fish like that is always a gut punch. I've done that to myself more times than I can count!
Some valuable information buddy! Technique is critical! Thanks for sharing!
There is just so much information out there that I think we often forget to consider the little things!
I’m always focus on when on the water , I’m enjoying my time on the water while reeling I’m watching the birds listening to the different birds watching the beaver or snake swim past my kayak . Not a care in the world, a fish is a bonus in my mind .
Having fun and enjoying yourself is the absolute biggest thing!
I hardly ever catch fish on the same thing two times in a row. But I still do it every single time. It's a hard habit to break.
It can be an easy trap to fall into!
I just fish to have little fun. Been trying some of the things you say and been catching more fish. Don't see why this would be any different.
I'm happy that the tips help! Thanks for watching!
Gotta admit that I'm constantly zoned out when making casts. I know it's hurting my fishing.
It can be hard to stay focused!
I always turn my phone off when I'm fishing. When I'm out on the water, I'm there to fish and I don't want any distractions.
I wish I had that luxury!
Hey lowbrow, thinking about getting a boat like yours. Is it stable enough for my wife and I to fish and feel safe?
Absolutely! My wife and I fish out of mine all the time. I even spend most of the day standing up, though she prefers to sit.
Thanks for the answer.
Low Brow is echoing what Randy Blaukat says.....CONDITIONS must be recognized and dealt with. Failure to do so usually means no tight lines for you. Talk less, focus on feel of the rod and watch your line. For that and all casts, be in the moment. Not easy to do all the time.
Thanks for watching! I really appreciate it!
