An old man took me topwater (1st time, early 80's) right at dark...he would let a jitterbug sit while he smoked half a cigarette... thought he was loony...he was not...he is gone now but his technique lives on as long as I'm alive...they come up behind it and suck it in...often don't even hear it....

Them some good prices on lures. I ain't got nothing like that near me I don't think but I figure I can ask my granddaughter. She's good at buying stuff with her phone.

You got Yamamoto for $1.00 that's a steal. That braid you picked up is good as well. Braid is braid, its all the same. It casts, its strong as rope and sensitive.

I got some packs of Berkley tubes for $1 at Ollie's one time. I still have some of them.

I got Senkos at Walmart for .10 cents a pack.

I have an old green orange and black prop bait similar but mines short fat and old. Kinda like me. But that old thing was hammering them. Front prop broke. I was ripping it and letting g it set kinda like you just did. Like a jerk bait on top. It was later in season though.

Been using braid to leader for five years now. Will not look back. Those that know, know! Highly recommend Sunline Satimate FC and Saltimate tunageat FC shock leader. It is very very good. Very thin for it's rated strength. Again highly recommended❤. Please don't knock it until you try it. Thank me later LOL!😂

I fish all my topwater baits like that. Jerk and pause irregular intervals. It works.

We are nailing them here in South Africa. I cayght a stunning 2.8 kg last weekend on a wopper plopper.

My grandpa told me to wait until all the ripples are away before thinking about giving it another twitch. Thanks for reminding me about how good those things are. I've literally seen 2bass and 1 bluegill on one of those baits on the same retrieve. It's crazy how well they work around a downed tree, but easy to get hung up whenever fishing them near that stuff.

Its starting to warm up some in my area. This week at least is warmer. I just bought a heddon spook and torpedo propbait. Guess I'll start throwing those as well for bites

I've caught bass on topwater when the water temps are still in the 40s. When I see the right conditions, I'm always ready to tie a spook on.

I always like using a 1/8 ounce buzzbait from the bank. Use a grub as a trailer and get big blowups.

We still have ice so no topwater for at least another month. I'm having a hard time waiting!

I have good success with the Bomber Long A 4-1/2" (since the 1980's) you should try it. Make cast let sit, then twitch a couple times and let it sit, repeat. I have to admit that the new ones are not as good as the OG's but still catch bass. The chartreuse flash blue orange color is recommended by: Bass Geek. It works great.

I think you have hit on one of the most important tips in fishing...PATIENCE! I have found with many techniques that pausing or leaving a bait sit can get you more and big bites! Good job LB!

Lots of confidence in the popper, but gotta wait for the ice to melt first. Ice fishing has been going well though.

I really have liked using the small/finesse A rigs. We can only have two hooks here, but it still catches them. And it sure locates fish quickly! Can’t believe your water is in the 50s already. So jealous.

Caught 22 in the last 2 days but nothing the 4 days before that. Saw a few already on beds today

The Alabama rig is not legal to fish with in Arizona. The closest thing to an A-Rig I can fish with is a Donkey-Rig. In Arizona there's a two-hook-limit for lures like this. I'll set up my Donkey-Rig with the two allowable hooks and then use a screw-lock to add a third soft-plastic bait without a hook in it at the front-most end of my rig. This makes it look like the small school of three bait fish with the rear two baits having the hooks in them. When the fish are biting, fishing flukes this way works out really well for me.

That one a those things that's got all them little bitty swimmers on it. I ain't never used one but I hear they work pretty ok.

I've never used an Alabama rig before. But I never used a jerkbait from the bank until you suggested it.

The only bite I got the other day was on a small spinnerbait with a gold Colorado blade. The bass do seem like they're in a weird mood.
