I actually started losing hair using a 1.5 mm dermaroller. However, I think it's because of the needle length as I slowly went up in length each month. It's been 8 months since I've stopped and hair is finally starting to grow back. I will go back to 1mm and see if anything changes.
same here i went straight in with 1.5 lost and shedding loads but was doing it 2 or 3 times a week been 3 weeks since i last did it and will not be doing it again i lost loads
I had to use microneedling with my Dutasteride to get my hairline to grow back. Still microneedling for my thinner areas, just not as often. I use a Derminator2 at .075 as I find the full 1.5 isnt always needed.
Good comment. 1.5mm hurt me a lot - and a load of studies shows that even 0.5mm can do a lot. So I decided on 1mm once a week - also reducing any potential scaring Etc.
@@scottlee38did u try finasteride before? What made you want to get dutasteride? And how did you get it? Just started thinning, and got on fin and am micro needling my hairline. Do you believe micro needling regrows hair? I see a lot of vellus hairs ontop of the scar tissue where I micro needle
@deshawnman3790 I have never tried finasteride because I did not like the reviews. I went straight to dutasteride. I got first prescription from medical wellness center before my doc picked up the prescription. Microneedling stimulates (wakes) hair folicles. The drug helps you keep the hair you grow.
Skin irritation is a sign of scalp rejuvenation because propelyne glycol has exfoliate effect that removes dead skin cells and also recreate keratosis which is crucial for hair growth. Same thing with redness and itchiness. So it is actually good that any of these conditions is working in process for regrowth. Therefore you need to hang out and continue until irritation/redness goes away. These conditions (sides) happened to me while I still continued and irritation, redness & itchiness eventually stopped on its own
I’ve got minor thinning on the crown area.. 42yr old. I’ve tried microneedling at 1.5 and 1.0 with weekly, fortnightly and monthly. Unfortunately it has done nothing to increase density or follicles. But I am aware that this would back up that it is only effective if used with topical Minoxidil or Finasteride. So in my experience, microneedling alone, doesn’t do anything noticeable to hair.
Would you recommend laser light therapy after microneedling? There doesn’t seem to be a consensus on this amongst dermatologists. Some say it’s better to let the body do the healing
I have been microneedling since May this year on a once per week basis at 1.5mm dermaroller and the only topical I use is some natural oil mix. The one thing I have noticed was no hair shedding at all. The growth side I have no idea since I never really did any before or after shots so ya lol
Hi! I have a question. I'm currently on finasteride and minoxidil 2xper day and started microneedling a few weeks back. I'm currently shedding hair, and I'm not seeing any new hair growth. I'm a little discouraged. Should I continue with the microneedling? I've been using a 1.5mm needle and doing it approximately 2-3 times per week. Hoping someone can give me some advice 😊
ye keep going, shedding should be normal for minoxidil effect, but 3x week needling at 1.5 is too much, you shoud go max 2x at 0.5 plus 1x at 1.5 for week
The videos I've seen recommend doing microneedling once a week at a MAXIMUM. Once every 2 weeks also seems to work. Also, the ideal penetration length seems to be between 0.5 and 1mm. If you use a 1mm dermaroller, that seems to be fine, since dermarollers tend to not go in for the full length of their needle setting.
You doing it farrr too frequently, better cut that back asap or going to likely do damage and long term problems. I prefer no more than once ever 2 weeks.
@@WastedPo the problem is all the hair's active components are within the dermis, particularly the lower (reticular) dermis .. so you gotta get the stimulation at least close to there ... the epidermis alone is over 1 mm thick on scalp. So if you're using microneedling for the stimulation then 1 mm won't cut it ... if you're using microneedling to create channels for absorption then thats more than enough.
Ive been using organic shampoos and conditioners and brushing my scalp with a toothbrush n i swear its helping slightly. I wana try microneedling and fin though
the study consisted of people who were told to stop their entire fin/minox stack for the duration of the study, if you've been taking meds and stop no amount of derma rolling is going to prevent you loosing those gains. Also the sample size was tiny because people were dropping out. I woudn't give up on derma rolling due to this study. Remember, one study does not infer much. Studies must be repeatable with high sample size
I really think that all microneedling does is improve absorbtion of topicals, and that’s why you really only see improvement with conjunction of treatments and not alone. Me personally will not be using it because overtime it could make it harder to perform a hair transplant because the skin gets scar tissue.
My experience is that topical stuff won't generally hurt to use. I'd recommend Keeps or some such stuff. Microneedling works, but you have to remove the shiny layer of scar tissue that forms on a balding scalp (you can tell men who have shaved their heads vs. bald precisely because of the shiny look of scar tissue on a bald scalp) Mine took maybe two or more months of once a week microneedling before that layer was gone and the hairs could be stimulated by the microneedling. If you don't use a chemical at least use Vitamin E oil occasionally to help your scalp heal from microneedling. I also use green tea applied to my scalp to get the caffine to the hair. Believe it or not it works quite well. The hairs themselves thicken up.
I microneedle every day with a 0.5mm dermatoller and then apply magnesium chloride. It stung for maybe the first week but now doesn't. I use a Dr Pen once a week at 1mm and apply rosemary oil. I massage my scalp every day for maybe 20 minutes to break up the hard skin and make it supple. No new hair so far after 3 months but my scalp feels soft and my hair feels really nice and soft. No shedding at all for about the last 6 weeks
For what it's worth- I did MN (0.5mm tattoo, once a week, no other topical or oral treatment) for about 12 weeks & started seeing a pretty noticeable decrease in hair density so I quit as soon as I noticed the loss. 50 yr old male, used on scalp area that was previously transplanted (Bosely FUT). Hope it's helpful, but MicoNeedling's a strong "No" for me.
Could you clarify this please? When you started microneedling, did you alter any of your other routine? For example, were you ever doing Minoxidil, and decided to stop for those 12 weeks to see what microneedling would do on its own?
You are saying that in the study the microneedling was performed once per month but the text reads "4 monthly sessions" which means once a week. At the end you say microneedling was performed "once a week as oppossed to once a week".
Hi! May I have a question? I wash my hair and I use some serum against dandruff. Do you think it's a problem if I micro needle after that? Or should I avoid the serum in this time?
I’m not doctor but you can solve this with common sense. Either stamp with an electronic needle, or use a stamp. Rolling in angle can cause a triangular cut and more likely to scar and cause issues
Pen most definitely better than roller, Lucas below is on the money. As for length, pattern and duration there is no definitive studies to answer this ... all things considered I think 1.25 mm to 1.5 mm twice a month, with like 4 horizontal passes and 4 vertical passes over treated area to achieve moderate erythema (redness) ... for me its no more than 5 minutes.
Hey bro, can you guys respond your emails. I paid for a product from your website with shipping from USA to Colombia. It's been a month now, the website indicated the product would arriv 15 days after the purchase, Nothing yet. what is going on? please respond
interesting and thanks for sharing. have not seen or read study so from your description and presentation of the study the interesting takeaway would be that a "minimal" (once a month for four months) microneedling monotherapy may not be enough to realize any substantial/"noticeable" benefits. which in itself is good to know. i would analogize it to going to the gym once a month for four months as a monotherapy for health and then testing your fitness improvements.
The best hair growth is eating foods high in B-vitamins biotin especially and using natural things on the hair like contains less parabens in shampoo and conditioning, maybe try rosemary oil on hair, argan oil, avocado oil, carot seed oil, gently massage with fingertips into scalp very gently , and minoxadil 5% as I have heard. Excersie regulkarily cardio to allow more oxygen to flow through body whist eating foods high in biotin, and even taking b-vitamin biotin supplement for 12 months helped me. Won't see a different for at least 12-16 months though with supplements.
@@Herbie11 on the contrary natural foods do work, but the problem is the gut lining, if your gut has holes in it, and or have problem with your gut, anything that goes in your gut the foods minerals and vitamins get absorbed into your body, not all the foods vitamins and minerals get absorbed and if you have a gut problem you will get even less minerals and vitamins, the problem lies with getting enough of those B-vitamin and Biotin nutrients into the blood stream to be carried to your hair folicules. If you think it does not work , it's because your own body is not absorbing enough of biotin that is made, and it doesn't end up enough to grow hair at the end of it. Vitamins and minerals supplements are useful but only in their natural form, otherwise it will damage kidneys unnecessarily. Also it takes 12 months minimum and you have to stay away from sugar that causes problems and prevents the body from truly absorbing all your nutrients thats why it is better on a vegan/keto or animal protein mix with crusiferous vegetables and 10 cups of veggies per day, eggs are a good source of all vitamins and minerals as well as protein and carotene, whist also it helps to lower cholesterol if keeping to a good exercise healthy routine.
@@Herbie11 Well you have a problem with your gene pool then, something perhaps is causing DHT to increase on your head, need to reduce that DHT, all I can really say at this point is I taught you and anyone else who read the comment how to fish, the rest is really getting to know your own specific issues, and biology, There's something inside you that is preventing these nutrients from getting to your scalp/hair folicules, it isn't always about eating healthy, if your gut stomach can't absorb the nutrients as well as others, and age makes it worse. In fact food from the gut not all 100% of nutrients are absorbed into the body, the rest just goes into the intestine and you visit the toilet you know what comes after that. Try a biotin/collagen preferably organic supplement combo every day and perhaps try intermittent fasting, fasting can give benefits that may correct some biological issues. Biotin supplements take 12months to notice a difference in hair thickness and growth.

I was already having slow mild temple loss so its hard to say for sure but at the very least since i started microneedling my hairlines once every 3 weeks at 1.5mm for a total of 4 monthes now, I have lost waaay more hair. Feels like there is always a big shed right after microneedling. Been really tempted to stop but thought perhaps i should keep it up for a full 8 month growth cycle so i dont have any doubts after as to wrther ive given it long enough. I defijately havent had any regeneration at this point though, that much i can't deny. Just more and more waves of temple thinning and recession.
Well heres my 2 cents i would give it about 3 months .you can use finasteride and minoxidil and anti androgens while doing the mico needling, but if you don't notice any extra results stop as soon as possible as it may be turning that diffuse thin area to get fibrosis .once fibrosis sets in regrowing hair in that diffuse area will turn to a dead zone
I carry a 357 magnum wheel gun. The hammer digs into the right side of my stomach. After 3 months of slight irritation, hair started growing thick and dark, just in that area. I'm convinced micro needling does work.
@davidbranch1077 No, not at all... I barely have hair on arms and very little on legs. I am taking Finasteride and minoxidil for hair on head... lol. But overall not hairy at all.
I used minoxidil from ages 15-18, stopped it, then started again age 30-42, stopped it, and saw continued hair loss over the next 5 years, while I was figuring out my next treatment. My point is depending on how long the subjects were on other treatments it can take a long time much longer than 4 months (in my case years) to discontinue those treatments and get them out of your system before trying something else, without taking into consideration the expected hair loss from stopping said treatments. This study sound very poorly conducted and quite frankly irresponsible to have released it.

Is it acceptable to pair microneedling with topical finasteride? If so, what is the recommended waiting period before applying finasteride after microneedling?
If you microneedle over thinning hair, won't it damage the hair you have? Similarly, after needing for some time, and assuming hairs begin growing, won't continued needling damage the new hairs too?
Would like to hear thoughts on this, I always thought the same. I think the quality of the dermaroller matters. Cheap ones can pull out existing hairs.
@@jt777TDon't recommend a derma roller. There's a maybe $100 pen on A mazon that I use that works great. I run it over areas where the number of hairs is thinner with no real problem. I like to alternate the number of needles in the tip I use from a lot to very few. Once a week at 1.5 works great for me. Hairs regrow (as soon as you get rid of the layer of scar tissue that's on the balding areas. That's argued by some as one of the reasons for the balding to begin with and for me it took maybe 2 or three months to get that layer removed) Once the scar tissue is removed, the hair can grow back as you microneedle That said, massaging your scalp is also extremely helpful, so make sure to do that regularly.
The logic behind it is that in a small enough wound, damage will be minimal, but at the same time will be compensated by triggering a healing response that will also stimulate(“overheal”) the hair that used to be there before being damaged by alopecia. Not the same mechanism but a roughly similar logic to exercise, when you lift weights you damage your muscles, but not too much, so they grow back stronger.
Of course it will damage lol. The say dont over brush and yet people think this isn’t damaging. Furthermore the pens: people use in circular motions. Its just tearing/shredding the hairs in the process.
@@Goodhello369 It is a net gain of hair. I've done it for a year and a half. The people trying to discourage microneedling are being kind of evil, in my opinon. Hair loss is one of the bigger issues that some guys face and the medical field trying to stop everyday solutions so they can sell expensive treatments is terrible.
I discussed with several hair transplant surgeons I went to see and they all stated constant micro needling causes scar tissue to build up eventually affecting the growth of the hair follicle . That’s why I stay away from microneedling. Figure the trauma repeatedly has a cumulative effect on the follicle site
Another possibility (though I really hope this isn't the case) is the surgeons may have conflict of interest & if microneedling works then they'll have less jobs
im gonna dismiss this new study because it seems they are trying hard to prove a point when they barely even tried so this study is null and doesnt have enough data to conclude a good enough result so id say microneedling still works
We don't know what the long term effects of constantly puncturing the skin does i.e. scarring or even skin cancer. Yes microneedling helps improve minoxidil efficacy but using Tretinoin as a minoxidil adjunct is just as effective i would say and probably far safer longer term
@@TheSkyChimp Good question, I live in the UK and Tretinoin is only possible from a Doctor's prescription (if it's even available). As I travel a lot, I just pick up loads of tubes from Dubai, Turkey etc from a pharmacy, no quibble and cheap.

Still microneedling for my thinner areas, just not as often.
I use a Derminator2 at .075 as I find the full 1.5 isnt always needed.
Are you using topical dutasteride?
@@hairliciously Nope. using the capsule version! .5 mg once every 3 days!
Thanks for your work! What's more likely to cause skin irritation, finasteride or minoxidil?
Minox
Assuming you mean topical. Minoxidil. But sometimes that could depend on if the minoxidil is mixed with other things like propylene glycol.
Who knows what to believe?not too long ago I watch another clip of your showing a men with great result just from needling very very discouraging
I have been microneedling since May this year on a once per week basis at 1.5mm dermaroller and the only topical I use is some natural oil mix. The one thing I have noticed was no hair shedding at all. The growth side I have no idea since I never really did any before or after shots so ya lol
It appears we are doing same routine. No hair loss so far, just micro needling and rosemary oil. No Finastride or minoxdil. It works for me.
@@xlgoldfish do you add oil directly after microneedling? or put it on scalp and then microneedle over it?
3 x a week is way too much. Watch the video.
ye keep going, shedding should be normal for minoxidil effect, but 3x week needling at 1.5 is too much, you shoud go max 2x at 0.5 plus 1x at 1.5 for week
I brush my teeth with a hairbrush.
Great Job Man!! How did you reached to this study ? google scholar ? Is it free? can I reach it too ? Thank you so much , you'r a professional .
I've heard there is a new study showing that there is a 90% chance that there are small green frog like creatures living on the moon.
the study consisted of people who were told to stop their entire fin/minox stack for the duration of the study, if you've been taking meds and stop no amount of derma rolling is going to prevent you loosing those gains. Also the sample size was tiny because people were dropping out. I woudn't give up on derma rolling due to this study. Remember, one study does not infer much. Studies must be repeatable with high sample size
No, as I saw regrowth and my hair has been super thicker for the last few years.
I really think that all microneedling does is improve absorbtion of topicals, and that’s why you really only see improvement with conjunction of treatments and not alone. Me personally will not be using it because overtime it could make it harder to perform a hair transplant because the skin gets scar tissue.
Ive been microneedling since last week with 1.5mm.twice a week without any medication.Hoping to see results in a few months.Any advice for me?
Tretinoin
@@tomshaji whats tht?
My experience is that topical stuff won't generally hurt to use. I'd recommend Keeps or some such stuff.
Microneedling works, but you have to remove the shiny layer of scar tissue that forms on a balding scalp (you can tell men who have shaved their heads vs. bald precisely because of the shiny look of scar tissue on a bald scalp)
Mine took maybe two or more months of once a week microneedling before that layer was gone and the hairs could be stimulated by the microneedling.
If you don't use a chemical at least use Vitamin E oil occasionally to help your scalp heal from microneedling.
I also use green tea applied to my scalp to get the caffine to the hair. Believe it or not it works quite well.
The hairs themselves thicken up.
@@matthewmosier8439 thanks for the advice.Im just gonna microneedle only without anything.see whether i gain anything.
4 monthly sessions likely means "microneedle once a month for 4 months"
Hi!
May I have a question?
I wash my hair and I use some serum against dandruff. Do you think it's a problem if I micro needle after that? Or should I avoid the serum in this time?
What has usually been the best results based on pen vs roller, length, pattern, duration, days in between sessions?
I’m not doctor but you can solve this with common sense. Either stamp with an electronic needle, or use a stamp. Rolling in angle can cause a triangular cut and more likely to scar and cause issues
Pen most definitely better than roller, Lucas below is on the money. As for length, pattern and duration there is no definitive studies to answer this ... all things considered I think 1.25 mm to 1.5 mm twice a month, with like 4 horizontal passes and 4 vertical passes over treated area to achieve moderate erythema (redness) ... for me its no more than 5 minutes.
Hey man been watching awhile. How has your retrograde alopecia progressed? Did you find any particular treatments helpful?
Hey bro, can you guys respond your emails. I paid for a product from your website with shipping from USA to Colombia. It's been a month now, the website indicated the product would arriv 15 days after the purchase, Nothing yet. what is going on? please respond
interesting and thanks for sharing. have not seen or read study so from your description and presentation of the study the interesting takeaway would be that a "minimal" (once a month for four months) microneedling monotherapy may not be enough to realize any substantial/"noticeable" benefits. which in itself is good to know. i would analogize it to going to the gym once a month for four months as a monotherapy for health and then testing your fitness improvements.
not really a good analogy ... PRP shows generally significant improvement and yet is only done as maintenance once every SIX MONTHS
Microneedling and pyrilutamide. How’s that?
How many times per week should I be microneedling?
.....everyone says 1 time . .....most people that is.
The natural stuff does NOT work at all. Nothing more than the placebo effect.
@deusvlad2.083 I eat healthier than 99% of people. My wife is a nutrionist and we grow our vegetables. I'm as bald as a bowling ball!
@@Herbie11 Well you have a problem with your gene pool then, something perhaps is causing DHT to increase on your head, need to reduce that DHT, all I can really say at this point is I taught you and anyone else who read the comment how to fish, the rest is really getting to know your own specific issues, and biology,
There's something inside you that is preventing these nutrients from getting to your scalp/hair folicules, it isn't always about eating healthy, if your gut stomach can't absorb the nutrients as well as others, and age makes it worse.
@deusvlad2.083 Have you seen my face! Definitely a problem with my gene pool and I got the diverticulitis too. You might be right. The collagen I gotta try.
How often should I micro needle with a 1.5m when first starting out?
I was already having slow mild temple loss so its hard to say for sure but at the very least since i started microneedling my hairlines once every 3 weeks at 1.5mm for a total of 4 monthes now, I have lost waaay more hair. Feels like there is always a big shed right after microneedling. Been really tempted to stop but thought perhaps i should keep it up for a full 8 month growth cycle so i dont have any doubts after as to wrther ive given it long enough. I defijately havent had any regeneration at this point though, that much i can't deny. Just more and more waves of temple thinning and recession.

Hello, how long can I do a workout or to make sweat after I Microneedling? using 1.5mm or 1mm.
Are you still applying pyrilutamide?
A question I would like to answer
Does topical Pyrilutamide affect the heart?
If all those are secondary what should be a primary way to tackle hair loss treatment?
Any advice on best dermaroller or microneedle pen?
Do the meds go on before or after the micro needling?
Been micro for two weeks now nothing yet. I’m actually following the black tea and vitamin d3 regime. About to shave my head
This was funny
What happens if you get off of Minoxidil and derma rolling treatmets after achieving your goals? Do you lose hair again?
Yes
Switch to hair regine using natural products.
I'm always worried about scarring from needling. I feel like I got worse after micro needling.
I carry a 357 magnum wheel gun. The hammer digs into the right side of my stomach. After 3 months of slight irritation, hair started growing thick and dark, just in that area. I'm convinced micro needling does work.
Interested, are you a natural hairy person?
Those of us that are hairy ,seem to respond to wounding and some hair products differently ? !
I continued to lose hair when did it twice a week . now if I had lost more had I not done it , who knows ?
I like your products hairliously but I have recently bought some of your products but you never shipped it. you never sent me my tracking number and you end up not responding to my emails. Is it acceptable to pair microneedling with topical finasteride? If so, what is the recommended waiting period before applying finasteride after microneedling?
I would microneede before with a weaker derma roller like 0.25 everyday and apply it after just for better absorption
I'd apply quite soon after. can definitely pair MN with topical fin.
are you still microneedling after 4 years ?
studie show this, studies show that 🤣🤣
What kind of inhibitors?
how can you explain ass hair gain while head hair loss ?
DHT causes both bdy hair growth and head hair loss
I started microneedling my crack and have been making amazing ass hair gains.
Do not use more than .75 on hairline or you will damage follicles and lose hair
Damaged follicles can rejuvenate overtime from discontinuing microneedling but it takes some months or even several months and its proven
wrong
That's argued by some as one of the reasons for the balding to begin with and for me it took maybe 2 or three months to get that layer removed)
Once the scar tissue is removed, the hair can grow back as you microneedle
That said, massaging your scalp is also extremely helpful, so make sure to do that regularly.
Figure the trauma repeatedly has a cumulative effect on the follicle site
nah that's only if you do it too much, in fact hair follicle resides at 4mm depth, no needle can reach that depth
Another possibility (though I really hope this isn't the case) is the surgeons may have conflict of interest & if microneedling works then they'll have less jobs
@@frankch1028 true that’s a possibility
Stimulating hair growth or simulating? 😅
Man are you alive 😢
im gonna dismiss this new study because it seems they are trying hard to prove a point when they barely even tried so this study is null and doesnt have enough data to conclude a good enough result so id say microneedling still works
We don't know what the long term effects of constantly puncturing the skin does i.e. scarring or even skin cancer. Yes microneedling helps improve minoxidil efficacy but using Tretinoin as a minoxidil adjunct is just as effective i would say and probably far safer longer term
How do you get just trentinoin?
@@TheSkyChimp Good question, I live in the UK and Tretinoin is only possible from a Doctor's prescription (if it's even available). As I travel a lot, I just pick up loads of tubes from Dubai, Turkey etc from a pharmacy, no quibble and cheap.
