- ( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2013 Nissan Sentra has been redesigned and is all new. It now looks more like its bigger brother the Nissan Altima. Which means that it shares the new family resemblance. It also share a growth spurt as the new 2013 Nissan Sentra is one of the biggest cars in the compact car class...especially when it come to leg room. But how does the Sentra compare to the other Japanese cars that it directly competes with? In this classic mashup review we compare the 2013 Sentra to the best-selling Honda Civic and the Toyota Corolla the TFLcar way....by seeing which one is faster 0-60 MPH.

Proud owner of a Sentra :)
Finally someone made a review of the sentra. Thanks guys, you guys are doing an excellent job keep doing what you're doing.
Yes, through the magic of editing we risk our careers by doing 60 MPH on a 15 MPH road. Please watch the video again. We never exceed the 15 MPH speed limit.
why did they say going by 0 to 60 the Sentra was the best when the Civic just beat it?
Hi Back Luiz and thanks for watching!
We'll be reviewing the new Jetta Hybrid next week. VW might have a TDI as a comparison in which case we'll be happy to mash them up.
i like it. you really should try to get some more in depth reviewing done ! it was very entertaining and you certainly do a better job than alot of guys out there ! keep up the good work guys !!! do a maserati some time :)
after so many years, Honda engine still sounds so refined, and sexy. Definitely make it feel faster.
Well, these cars aren't really about horsepower. They're all about fuel economy.
Given the choice of these 3, I would go with the Toyota Corolla. That's mainly because of Toyota's well earned badge of reliability.
These days, if you get a reliable car with good fuel economy, you're doing pretty well.
eternalhalloween1 That's why I bought my Corolla over the Sentra.
Toyota's badge of reliability is a strong selling point. :)
me to
So I shouldn't buy the Sentra?
I am a corolla owner and i have for over 8yrs no issues but nissan has a kinda reliablity issue
Just bought my 2013 sentra and i LOVE it! Wish i could have afforded the top of the line model but my base sentra is amazing
Actually we can't do much better. We had access to all three cars for about 40 minutes. We did the most we could in that time. Thanks for watching.
Got an 04 sentra SER love it
the fact that the corolla has been able to stay so consistent on the transmission is astounding. although outdated at least they could be consistent!
Roman, are you going to have coverage of the 2013 civic upon reveal/release?
Thanks guys. There are two of you in the car and you're at sea level.
We got that.
They should have included a Bugatti Veyron in this test.
I have the corrola and I absolutely love it!!!
So much emphasis on 0-60 performance... in the everyday normal guy's life, the only thing it will achieve is getting to the next red traffic light first.
Osrs. Altima sv 2015 or Sentra?
i do a lot of driving on the highway, my sentra’s 0-60 time makes me feel like I’m gonna get rear ended by people 2 miles away
No, Nathan said the Sentra was faster and I corrected him. We actually displayed the two times in a banner across the video and Yes, Nissan paid us. In fact Nissan paid us the exact same amount that Honda paid you to make this comment.
I'm, Next To The Traffic Lights! Nathan!
Sentra looks best to me! Lovin it.
As a Civic owner I can attest that it is the best from this group, although I much prefer the styling of my '08. Gotta have it with a stick, too. It is surprisingly fun to drive. My '05 Sentra SE-R Spec-V was definitely more fun, as to be expected, but I seriously doubt a new Spec-V could truly rival a new Civic Si.
Im excited for the actual review of the sentra. I dont mind cvts, but drive a Kia Spectra with a 5speed manual [2008]. Driving around town is where the cvt shines, hard acceleration is where it doesnt.
Can you guys please review the 2013 Honda Ridgeline?
Roman, what is your favorite of the three?
Guys you are amazing! How you can make a new video everyday?! Do you have twin brothers? :D
well now I know why the focus was missing. Nissan didn't want it in the comparison since they provided the cars.
You guys know you can manipulate the CVT transmission with the pedals right? It's a bit faster that way.
+LightTheEntertainer inb4 no it isn't. I don't usually race in my 4 DOOR SEDAN, but when I do I'll beat a stock civic.
do you have a manual or automatic transmission?
And last generation corolla is was like
Watering flower I will post a video within the next few days possibly on thirsday
Why would you race these three cars? 99 percent of people who buy these cars do not give a shit about 0 to 60 times. Its about mpg and comfort. Waste of my time.
Can't help liking many features of the Sentra that Nissan threw in to have the edge.
Just bought a 2013 civic ex. The corolla was bland inside...very. the Sentra was ok but still hated the cvt. The civic was all there!! Power, fun to drive absolutely beautiful redesign! And the interior is amazing. Comes with so many things.
all those 3 cars are reliable you wont go wrong with those they take a beating and dont break down at all
A manual trans would probably make for quicker acceleration, but they are at the intro of the Sentra with 2 similar cars provided by Nissan to compare. Don't forget that most cars are purchased with an auto, and they do it their way as a "real world" evaluation.
Civic!! Of course!
why do they show the ce trim instead of S trim for corolla?
are you sure it will last like a corolla or civic?
that will be awsome , i want to buy one but i can't choose between it and the amarok which you dont get in the US (2.0 BiTDI 163 hp 400NM of torque 4WD) they are in the same prices at all classes trend comfort and highline
The sentra has a very well accomplished background with both practical and performance industry for the past 30 years. I would also like to see a performance package my self but I think the 2013 sedan says that. If nissan wanted to make a perfomance pakage , they would have. They havent forgot about the tuners that got the sentra here today. Its only too bad nissan didnt honor the sentra with a 30th anniversery package for the 2012 and 2013 models
I still loving sentra!
I suggest you review read comprehension basics. The base model is the "only" version of the Sentra that can be purchased with a manual transmission. A "low-end" consumer is someone who cannot afford to buy a $99,000 car. Low-end models (affordable) does not necessarily mean "boring". Chevrolet, Ford and Dodge offer some kind of variant of their entry level cars that combines some performance components with the option of a manual transmission (or a manual transmission only).
What's the diffference between automatic and manual????????
I have two of these in my family, though they're previous iterations of each other.
The Civic was much better than the Sentra but now with the new versions they've switched places... unless the 2013 revision of the Civic impresses the press.
Sentra is more comfortable (Civic's ride is horrible) while the Civic is more fun (CVTs aren't for sports cars cough Maxima cough). I will admit the new Altima's CVT is very good though the Accord's is apparently better.
Sentra and proud of it
Civic look reallll good in person :)
I like the 2008 to 2012 Nissan Sentra SR body style only. i also like the Toyota Corolla 2013 on up.
All great cars to choose but the Sentra always reminded me of the Toyota Yaris, where as the Altima seemed like the Corolla's competitor.
Honda Civic would be my choice just because it's more sporty, but the Corolla is probably the best car if you car about money.
Cvt is great at keeping the tq and hp at the top of the power band when needed, if you really wanted to test the better car, put the Mazda into up to the challenge
guys please test the jetta TDI
they should do fit vs versa vs yaris
Which one shall I buy. I am suck beween buying a Honda Civic or Sentra.
thats true but the corolla hasnt been updated in many years and has a 4-speed transmission and the civic was recently on consumer guide's "do not recommend" list
waw really nice road out there
I like the corolla outta these guys the best. I actually miss my 03' corolla s ;(
I did not know people carried out these tests using automatic transmission cars.Wont manual ones prove to be better performance wise?
im next to the traffic lights!
i have a civic coupé 2012 and its awesome =)
yes it really does
how is the sentra a winner in 0-60?
that 10hp in the civic didn't really help over the sentra.. what is it, weight? transmission? both?
I wish the Sentra had the 2.0 Liter engine with the Nissan Altima's CVT, but I guess Nissan is waiting for the Sentra to be refreshed in the next 2 years to upgrade the powertrain. But all of these cars in the video have a 1.8 Liter normal fuel injected engine in common. The Corolla will be redesined for 2014, and the only automatic transmission will be a CVT, since the 4-speed automatic makes it slow, not fuel efficient, and has sluggish shifting.
Now do it with the corolla xrs vs civic si vs sentra se-r
I have a 2012 Sentra SR
Wow! A manual on the base model... only! That's not even a consolation prize.
As I commented before, they just aren't the company they used to be for the "low-end" consumer.
Sentra sobre todas las cosas y enamora made in México
Yes it may show, but I'm more worried about it's current reliability/durability. An out of warranty CVT replacement cost is insanely expensive. Proper maintenance is a MUST. I do agree that CVT's are the future of economy cars, but I'd like to see better reliability from them. Dodge Caliber anyone?
I had like 4 Honda Accord and 2 Toyota and a Scion(Toyota) BUT today i got myself a Nissan Altima hopefully its worthy
+bAldO Bori Altima is a pretty decent car
bAldO Bori I had two Altima and loved them both. No problems and handle great. Decent fuel economy on 4 cylinder.
I like the Honda civic because my Mom used to drive one.
Vtec just kicked in yo!
At 1:30 the Nissan CVT kicks in...sounds like a lawnmower.
I'd like them compare these cars to Mitsu Lance. Anyway, I hate CVT transmissions. Wife has a car with one and it's a slug until you shift to sport mode. I've owned civics and sentras. The Carolla gives a better ride on highway. These are all commuter cars not race cars. Sometimes I don't get these guys. They would have been better off comparing seat comfort, Mpg and stereos. All commuters want.
I would if they still had the spec v.
I Love It!
why you guys run with automatic cars??
2013 Sentra still offers manual on the base model.
I prefer manual also just for the feel of driving, but with the CVT transmission in the Sentra, you're not going to get a better 0-60 time with the base Sentra's 6-speed. Also, 0-60 is not a very good test for these cars since they are built for MPG's and for comfort. The 6-speed Sentra is rated at a lower estimated MPG than the CVT.
mash up the new accord, altima and camry. that would be awesome :)
All 3 have the same 128 ft-lbs of torque but peaks the lowest in the Sentra, 700 rpm sooner than the Civic and 800 rpm sooner than the Corolla. Corolla is the lightest by 88 lbs with the Civic only 4 lbs heavier than the Corolla. The Sentra and Corolla have 130 hp and 132 hp respectively, peaking at 6000 rpm while the Civic has 140 hp, peaking at 6500 rpm. I went to each manufacturer's website for the numbers. They are all basically the exact same...
......The new Corolla will be based on the Auris hatch, if it keeps true to that design exactly, it'll be the most stunning car in the segment. Toyota has a lot of catching up to do to keep the greatest selling car of all time relevant, the Corolla needs to pull ahead.
no jetta?
i assume the civic and corolla were provided by nissan in a press event. that doesn't bode well for their confidence as theyre on the bottom rung in the compact class segment. an elantra for its value and a focus for its performance wouldve made the sentra look bad
Use a 2013 honda civic next time
Harris Anwar agreed! I was wondering why they were using the crappy 2012 civic
the 2012 and 2-13 have the same engines so y would u want to use the 2013? @@sirot5561
Schmeeegle h nexuses the 13’ was basically totally updated and came with a standard backup camera, Bluetooth, adjustable center console, and an updated front and rear end to give the car a better appearance
@@sirot5561 hes talking bout performance not appearance
Harris Anwar the 2012 is superior in every way
Gorgeous. Great job Nissan
you guys need to learn to gear up i understand you want to see how fast it gets 0-100 in second gear but these cars shift up in about 0.20 of a second and is compensated by the thrust of the high revving up shift. In future videos could you also show a 0.100 gearing up beyond 2nd gear?
VTAK JUST KICKED IN YO!!!!!!!!!
I think the best car will be judged by the consumers, the winner is the corolla close second is the civic and way way off the rear is the sentra, all cars are good when they are brand new, the real test starts after five years or the warranty has expired, and thats where the toyotas and hondas dominate the competitors
Was considering a Golf TDI. Was it really so unreliable that you wouldn't buy another one?
corolla is still a solid reliable car. Just needs updating, something that should be sorted by next year
NISSAN for me!! love it
MY FAVORITE IS WINNER NISSAN SENTRA BEST SPEED EVER
VTEC kicked in YO!
I agree about diesels, but too bad fuel in the US is of poor quality. Also, most consumers in the US do not know how to maintain their cars. They end up driving them until they break and then blame the car. People should buy what they like, but it's funny when people say import cars are crap, then go buy a Mexican made Fusion, European designed and engineered Focus/Fiesta, or Korean Aveo.
If these were the only 3 car choices for cars I would walk.
You will still be able to get a 4 speed automatic in a 2014 Corolla if you can live with a base model.
🔴 Toyota
🔴 Nissan
🔴 Honda
Their the 3 main Japanese Automakers
should have added the Fiesta in there
The new Sentra isn't a bad car at all, but given a choice between those three I think I would buy..... either the Focus or the Dart.
Both long since discontinued
The 2012 nissan sentra is actually faster than the new 2013
The sad thing is that the Mazda3 weighs about 100 pounds more, has 25 more horsepower, has an automatic instead of a CVT, and has a larger engine and still gets the same fuel economy as the Sentra.
