LoL, that's probably not far from the truth! Honda is great at stomping out the truth about their failures. They hide Asimo every time he falls, they lie about deaths related to their vehicles, etc... Best facts are found on Car complaints, these show you which Honda's are good and which Honda's have problems. If you check it, you will find 25% of Hondas are good and 90% of Toyotas are good.

On reality, it's the complete opposite. It's not that the Japanese don't obsess over precision and accuracy, it's just that they design for the real world and make sure things will still work within acceptable performance parameters despite of imperfections.

@@imprice5668 I just bought a 2019 civic touring. The dealership told me that the 2019 civics go not have the oil dilution problem it was 2017-2018.

@@imprice5668 I have a 7th generation Civic. 7th and 8th are probably the best. And the 10th gen is okay and apparently has a few problems.
The 11th gen is shaping up to be as good as my beloved 7th generation.

The best $9,000 I ever spent was on my 1990 Honda Civic DX hatchback and I'm still driving it today. As a second car.
This gen Civic aged pretty well. Still looks near modern. Great design both interior and exterior. Not many cars looked this good in 2006

@@jamesmedina2062 James, for me, a car dies when something goes wrong with it that makes the repair too expensive to justify. It goes off to the scrapyard. So far, my old toyota has only ever had oil changes, a few spark plugs and trans fluid change. 300K and still going strong, aircond blowing cold as ever.
Hell yea still got a 91 civic at 400,000 miles on it still picks and go. It's like a burning wood stove just cant go wrong.

1997 Honda CR-V owner here! Getting ready to turn 400,000 trouble free miles. Amazing for a first generation vehicle. Oh, I forgot to mention, I beat the crap out of it 5 days a week.

Maybe if they are exposed to salt on the road or near the coast. My '97 has never been garaged and has no rust, even though my son used it in Kansas and Maryland a few years. He did ruin the clear coat taking it through abrasive automatic car washes though.
83 Corolla still turns on, just did a replacement on mechanical Fuel pump but it wasn't bad I just decided it needed new fuel filter/pump at 350,000 miles..same Transmissions/engine/exhaust system/Carburetor. I Think it will run forever, oh and it's RWD too 😁 I dont think Honda made a Civic RWD did they?
I drive a 2009 Honda civic exact same model!!! It was my first car and love it to bits!. Never had any issues, just oil changes thats it!. Drives like a dream.
As a Honda fanboy myself, you hit the nail on the head: love the driving characteristics and reliability. On category where Toyota far outdoes Honda is PAINT. Honda paint is very weak and will chip at nothing. Clear coat tends to fail for people living in hot states like Texas.

@@driverman9528 It's a GREAT car! Great engine and transmission in the civic is the best from Honda. Plus the 06-12 has a timing CHAIN now instead of a timing belt, which used to have problems sometimes. One hell of a car and the ONLY car that can truly rival the Toyota carolla and Lexus. You can drive from NYC to California and back with that thing and it will be fine

Bought my civic new in ‘06 and it’s still getting me to work every day after 13 years of wear and tear! Sure I’ve had to repair it from time to time, but the total cost of the repairs over the life of the car has been less than a down payment on a new one. Hard to beat!
I used to have a 1989 Honda Civic Si Hatchback, purchased it new and drove it for 330K miles, it was a great car!
What happened to it? Did it die?
Mark nope, it didn’t die, it was running well except for burning some oil. I needed a bigger car so got a 2006 Acura TL. I loved the Civic, it served me well!

Al the Pal I got you. Washington state has wet areas and dry areas. Snow in Walla Walla or no snow. Deep cold start ups affect longevity. My VW made it to 300k before burning oil thanks to life in Rocky Mountains-Denver. Now I'm in Texas. No rust here and warm start-ups help engines like a 90's Civic get to 600k other than the auto transmission

After the Civics the Accord it's one of the best sedans that Honda has ever engineer and built. I own a 2013 Accord Touring v6.
Own a 2002 Accord EX-L V6 “didn’t have touring back then” with 265k miles on it. Still runs great and get good gas mileage with it.
First car I had was a 1991 Honda Civic DX hatchback. Got it with a little over 80k miles, and drove it up until 10 years ago when I sold it to get a larger family vehicle.
Regular fluid changes and maintenance, with no big issues other than having to rebuild the manual transmission once (was rough on it in my younger years). Sold it with almost 300k and it still ran like a champ. Great cars!
I have a 2013 civic. Bought it a few months ago. Currently has 63k miles on it. I'm keeping that car for a very long time. And I know itll last a long time. Taking very good care of it

I bought a 13 civic brand new. Keeping it for a long time I'm getting over 40 mpg on hiway with a automatic transmission, nearly 50 on long trips.
Hondas are amazing. I have an Acura RSX, which I consider to be an upgraded Civic.

As somebody who enjoys studying and learning history, I always enjoy these type of videos Scotty puts out. Ive learned so much about cars and their history, that otherwise I simply wouldnt have known. Keep it up Scotty!
I have a 2007 Honda Civic LX sedan similar to this one, only the color is different. My parents bought the car for me six years ago and it had 94,000 miles on it. Now, I have 156,000 miles on it and I have had no major problems with it. This Civic will continue to run until it cannot run anymore. Thanks Honda for making quality engines that last for many miles.

@@SuperMagoo2011 If you watch the vid he explains it. Honda does small cars the best. Mainly their engines. While Toyota small engines match Honda in reliability, they are slower. Honda makes faster engines for smaller cars. But they make poor automatic transmissiins. Toyota makes the best auto trans in the world. Toyota also makes good slightly larger cars and trucks. Honda has no business making trucks. If you want a small, relatively quick reliable car, you go standard trans civic. If you want a reliable car but don't car about speed, or you want a truck, you go standard or automatic Toyota.

Yep, my hubcaps have lost their paint and are bare plastic in many areas, but for a 1997 sitting in south Texas sun, you don't have high expectations.

Yep, I have a 2006 civic, bought it in 2005, same style as the one on this video, the hub caps are in perfect condition and so are the metal wheels, 14 years driving it👍, the engine is so fast.

I have a civic cvt with 113,000 no problems so far. Not the fastest off the line for sure but i still beat most of the other "regular" cars I end up racing around with once it builds power
I own a 2007 civic si coupe. Same generation of that civic in the video. I bought it at 86k it now has 230k and still running strong. Never have had a single problem with the engine. 197hp out of a NA 2.0l 4cyl with a 6spd trans. I love it

The prelude was a great car. It just didnt sell as much as the civic. Same with the celica not selling as much as the corolla. 🤷♀️
06 with 225k only repairs I can remember: starter, ac compressor coil, valve cover gasket, wiper motor

2002 RSX daily here in Canada with 320,000 kms and runs so smooth.
In 2006 I bought my new Honda Civic. I have been thrilled with it every day since. I'm retired and it only has 78K miles on it. I would have no concerns driving across country.
My manual 02 Civic is great, cheap to keep running and has a lot of space and it is less boring than a Corolla. It was owned by a lady that barely used it and had less than 60k miles on the odometer. The EX and Si trim levels are good bang for your buck if you want something a little faster
I had a 2008 Civic 1.6 FD4 which I bought used, owned for 4 years, and sold to my family member. It’s a fantastic car of its class - spacious, refine, handles well and looks great. Low end torque is slightly weak with the 1.6l engine but there is nothing much else to fault.
I have the same year same color it has over 480.000 almost half a million no rust and still drives amazing still going strong.
Well mine is a 2007 lx
My standard trans 07' has 225k miles on it and here is what I've replaced over the past 12 years aside from the standard fluid changes, tires, battery and brakes:
Spark plugs, Valve cover gasket, Wiper Motor, A/C compressor, control rear arms (class action law suit reimbursed those)... and that's it.
My friends wife has an 08 Accord 204k miles. My wife has 08 Camry 204k miles. Both been reliable cars. I had a bad radiator and he bad wheel bearings. Otherwise both good reliable cars with care. Both on original motors and transmissions.
My wife has a 2010 Fusion w/ 193K and we haven't had to change anything! IJS..

@@4777hamzaI had before a Jeep Cherokee took care of it and motor gave up at just 140k miles. Friends Camaro got babied and motor blew around 130k miles. Some cars just not built well.
Mark G The reason the Honda bearings went out is because Honda started outsourcing stuff like that to the Chinese. My 17 Honda has very high content from China for higher profit margins.

My 92 Acura integra gsr 1.7L vtec160hp 8000rpm redline gets over 30mpg on hwy. This engine was way ahead of time back then..

My Honda's engine runs like new at 202,000 miles but everything else on the car (Element) is falling apart lol. Had far, far fewer problems with my Toyotas... there's really no comparison quality-wise.

Yeah I’m really thrilled with it. I bought the car Honda Certified from the dealer where I work as a service advisor so I’ve got plenty of warranty coverage and employee labor rate afterwards.
I wanted the LX because I’m not a fan of the HondaLink touchscreen; too much to go wrong.
The 2.0 is plenty peppy and efficient. I’m going to stick to a 5,000 mile oil change interval with Mobil 1 and I’m sure it’ll run for a very long time. I also plan to perform the maintenance items I recommend to my customers, such as transmission fluid services (drain and fill for the CVT).

Honda manufacture a range of transport and industrial products. Bought a 1993 Honda Civic new in 1993 and still runs good. No engine or transmission problems.

Spot on Papua. It's funny how the French were great contributors to society for a long time. Whether it was in science, technology, architecture, weaponry, aircraft, etc., etc.. At a certain point they just stopped contributing or even being expected to contribute. It seems like the more socialist-like they became, the less ingenuity and creativity we have seen from them. I'm not a big fan of the French but they truly were major contributors to the world and then they just about disappeared.

My 2005 four door Honda Civic that I bought new has over 328,000 miles of hard driving on it and is still going strong. I do wish it had a chain timing belt so I didn't have to get it replaced but it still gets in the upper 30 mpg level on the highway.
I love my Honda Civic 55k miles and 3 sets of tires and the only problem I’ve ever had was a bad battery.

In 2013, I traded my 2011 Honda Civic for a 2014 Cadillac ATS. Granted, being a senior in high school, the ATS was more fun, but if could go back, I'd keep the Civic, it was the best car I ever owned.

I love my 2017 Civic EXT! It's a blast to drive, handles VERY well, and the turbo 4 cyl gives it a lot of power! It also gets excellent MPG! Drove all the way to San Diego CA from the San Fernando Valley and used less than half a tank! Not to mention the body style is straight up sexy! The current gen Civic is one of the best looking sedans on the road right now!

Yes, Honda makes good cars but puts crappy paint on them. My 2011 Ridgeline made in the USA (Alabama) is a prime (primer LOL) example. The factory white paint is peeling in places because it was applied so thinly that the primer is showing. This vehicle only has 71,000 miles on it and the MSRP was over $34K.
I bought a 2007 Honda Civic brand new. It was quite nice. Pretty comfortable and roomy for a small car. Scotty said in the video that they had rear drum brakes but if you bought the EX or Si trim they had all disc brakes. These cars also have very high crash test results. I lost mine in a head on collision. Bad bruise across my chest from the seat belt and a little torn cartilage in my chest but otherwise okay. Unless you’re getting a manual transmission one I wouldn’t buy newer than 2011 because after they redesigned it in 2012 they started putting stupid CVT transmissions in them.

Had a 93 hatch with the b15b7, lasted me 10 years and 192k miles.
Had a 92 Prelude SR with the 2.3 engine, 5 speed. Had it for 11 years. sold it with 231 k on the clock, and I didn't drive like an old lady. Not a single issue, just the regular wear and tear. I regret selling it. Some young kid bought it and probably killed it.
I have a 16 year old Honda & a 12 year old Toyota. Both have been amazing. But my Honda needed a new compressor before it was 12 years old, and a couple other minimal repairs. Nothing major. Toyota has needed absolutely nothing. To be fair, my Honda has 165k, and my Toyota only has 85k. Both are great vehicles and very reliable.
I have a 2015 Honda Civic SI coup its definitely one of the funnest cars I’ve ever owned and it’s never had a problem looks good to.
Had my 2000 civic since the year 2000, drove it for 243k km, sold it in 2016 for $500 nothing was done to it other oil change,brakes, and tire, no check engine even the day I sold it.

If he doesn't answer you, he's from New York state I believe and its a great motto. I used to work in Georgia and when I'd go home to visit parents in NH, friends would ask me to buy things with the motto on it. Harley guys especially love anything with Harley and Live Free or Die.
I see this video almost a month after i bought a 25 year old Civic, with 600k km, manual transmission and... it keeps going despite the heavy beating it took from the previous owner
I have a 2013 civic ex and I love it. So far owned it for 3 years now and it’s always started up and hasn’t had any issues behind typical preventive maintenance.
My 1st Honda was a Trail 70 , back in 1968
And still own it original & have a 1998 V6 Accord Ex -260,000 miles 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Hi Scotty I just sold my 2018 Honda Civic Si coupe with 34,000 miles and bought a 2008 Honda Civic Si coupe with 82,000 miles because I didn't want the car payments anymore, yes I may have lost all the bells and whistles with the fancy tech and turbocharged motor and by no means is this a sports car but hey this car is still a dream to drive. I think I got especially luck with the price picked her up for just under $9000.
