I've had my 42" LG C2 OLED TV as my monitor for just about 12 months now. It's been incredible to not only utilize its screen real estate for multitasking but also gaming on the panel. I've had zero burn-in issues either with all the panel care settings enabled. Probably the best investment I made into my setup by far.

    • @Dagger_323

@@HiddenDeadX with the amount of time I've used the screen (powered on a minimum of 10-12 hours a day every single day at 90% brightness) I've used my OLED the equivalent of what most people do in about five years. Surely my usecase would reveal burn-in faster than most. RTINGS did an OLED TV test where they ran programs with static icons across different brands of OLEDs all day long for two years straight. They found that LG OLEDs had next to no permanent burn-in issues after that time, whereas Samsung and Sony faired far worse with blatantly degraded panels and color uniformity issues that could not be resolved with a pixel refresh. Given that I got a 5 year warranty with my panel, I'm not worried in the least.

@@HiddenDeadX LG Burn-in is pretty low though. I have a LG C9 from 4 years ago...I play games on both PC and console, use it with my blu-ray players, Apple TV, etc.; Nothing! And I game a lot. So the likelihood is low, unless you keep your display static for long periods.

  • @paul_wiggin

42 inch will provide same pixel density we all are used to.
The difference here is vertical real estate we get, which is not something we are used to.
So basically you will not need more depth to your workspace, but will need to get used to have more usefull space in vertical axis.
This makes usage uncomfortable for a week or two, but as soon as you get comfortable with navigating your sight vertically - you will love it.
I can't wait to switch to this 42 inch OLED. I`v used 50 inch TV as a monitor before (on a presentation stand behind my desk) and it was amazing experience.
This one is times better in every aspect and will make anyones experience pretty much perfect.

    • @dap777754
      @dap777754 ปีที่แล้ว +2

If you read a lot of text, I don't see how your experience would be perfect. OLED PPI is low compared to IPS. My 32" ASUS IPS monitor gives me 140 PPI. So text is amazingly clear and precise and non-pixilated. The OLED C3 PPI is either 96 or 106 and so text will be much less clear and precise. I would be trading off clarity for real estate, which I don't want to do.

"Why would anyone want a 42 inch TV as a monitor?"
In the words of Step Brothers: "There's so much more room for activities!"
Had the C3 42in since 21 Nov 2023 and its phenomenal. It did take a bit of getting used to coming from 38in+ UW's but having the ability to have more windows open in a single monitor is great for productivity. Would be nice to see LG add a higher refresh rate in this line at the 42in - 48in models since they are popular for PC use.
However, I hate the Lg smart remote. Ended up buying the LG service remote (which can also be used to enable/disable certain settings independently).

Picked up a BB open box with ~800 hours for under $700 with tax. Curiously, it had the screen film still installed. I ran a pixel refresh and put it through uniformity tests: zero burn-in, temp image retention, dead pixels, or any color issues. I do notice a green tint to whites off-angle, similar to the C4. Is this the same panel? It's minor and I only notice if I'm sitting close and looking for it.

Calman Auto for LG isn't too expensive, it's super simple to do, and who's profile can live on the tv as well as your computer's displays options as a custom profile. It will calibrate your tv to near-perfect, professional grade, color accuracy. In fact, these OLEDs are now so good that there are many professional cinema color graders moving to them and calibrating them with Calman.

This is a super awesome video. I highly suggest wall mounting any monitor bigger than 42 inches/106 cm. You will be able to move back enough with an 30 inch deep desk. I like the large monitor because you get a lot of screen real estate and no line in the middle in a dual monitor setup. But $1250 USD is very expensive!! There are excellent 4K 43 inch/109 cm computer monitors available for about $500 USD that are better suited for a computer.

But for that price they won't be OLED, which is kind of the point of buying this particular screen.

Hey I'm expecting this to be delivered tomorrow and will be using it as a monitor as well, will I have to worry about burn in? I'm especially worried about the task bar and the minimize, maximize, close and tabs on google chrome being an issue.

Thinking of buying this tv for my small room. I have a 49" inch right now that has weird white lights on the bottom I think from overheating. Anyhow, with OLED I'm worried about burn in. What are the chances of getting burn in with this panel?

Obrigado.

I'm using the 65" model as an extended display & it disconnects from my PC anytime I shut the TV off... When I turn the TV back on I have to go into display settings each time & extend the display again, also using a pair of Arctis Nova Pro wired headphones & once the TV is reconnected Sonar assigns default audio to the display instead of the headphones have to go in & change everything back to Arctis Nova Pro to get sound... Anybody know a way around this where I'm able to keep the display connected on PC after powering off??

42 inch is the best size for ganing. Oled is the future. LG are the kings together with nvidea. Soon there will be no amd. I could see this happening when I bought my LG CX.

you can set it to auto hide if you are concerned about that, and its probably better to do if you have an oled and leave it on for long periods of time 👍

I have the Audeze Maxwell headset with the LG C3 42 inch with a RTX 4090 and a i5-14600kf @ 6ghz. Living the dream.. oh yeh and eARC for my new Samsung soundbar and sub. fkn killer... just confused how to make go above 120fps. Like its stuck there with G-Sync on or off??
Auto dimming is kinda odd. Like gotta move your head sometimes for it to realise you're still right there lol

Hi, I'm using a C3 as monitor for a week, it's great overall, but I'm getting blue tint effect on the borders due to the view angle I think, when I move my head to the aides it changes.
I feel white uniformity is pretty bad. Does it happen for everyone or I just got a bad panel?
