Love the format for the video and your graphics, talking points, and editing is top notch! Just picked up the 42" LG C2 to use as a work monitor during the day and then gaming pc monitor at night. This is coming from a 7 year old 24" monitor and couldn't be happier!
I've been running a C2 42 4-8 hours a day avg for the last almost 2 years. I have dont have any oled care features turned on and I have absolutely no sings of burn in. My only measures are no desktop icons, no wallpaper and task bar is hidden away with a program called Rounded TB. I was thinking recently to get a G9 oled but I saw a lot of hassle with connection issues, flickers and many many other problems all over reddit
Yeah tbh I much prefer the C3 over my G9 OLED, only reason I have the G9 now is playing competitive games at 240hz but pretty much everything else I use the C3 so I wouldn't say it's worth the hassle unless you really want that 240hz but even then, there may be some new OLED monitors out this year that will perform better than the G9
You dont have to use the remote to turn the screen on and off, use the lg companion app and it will power on and off the tv for you when you start or power off your pc.
I'm happy user of C2 42' on tripod-like stand for over a year. I was blown away by the image quality when I moved from a decent 23' VA monitor. No complaints so far. The only thing is you really need a 4090 for 4k even with dlss. Probably it's a good idea to wait a while for rtx5000 if you are in a market today or just buy a glossy 2k LG monitor if such even exists.
Awesome review. I have the LG C2 and I got around the ABL by setting HDMI input to PC and choose either the isf modes and/or game mode. Under there the dark isf mode is set to 63 OLED pixel brightness, contrast to 80, gamma to BT.1886, color dept under Color to 55 and sharpness to 0, which also helps in some games. light isf is set to 93 OLED pixel brightness, contrast to 80, gamma to 2.2, color dept to 55 and sharpness to 0. This way, you still have your warrenty. I hope it works for you too.
Oh and you can install a service on your PC, which can turn on and off the monitor ;-) You can also connect headsets through bluetooth directly to the TV. So no matter what input source you use, you can use the headset 🙂

BURNIN: I started with LG CX 55 TV 2020 as a monitor. After owning a Samsung Note 8 with OLED SCREEN and seeing the burnin issues on this phone with one particular app, I was worried about burnin. But OLEDs seems to come a long way since then. I now own the Samsung S21 Ultra for 3 years and that same app has no burnin issues on this phone and I now use the app more often. My LG CX TV shows no sign of burin issues (TV/PC monitor first two years, second two years monitor only with daily use). I have now added a LG C2 55" (16 months ago), and LG C3 to my office. The LG CX is now back in the family room where it started (TV/Monitor) and looking very good. I am looking very hard at all the TVs and Phone for burnin issues and have yet been able to see any. I am retired IT and mainly do Flight Simulator, F1 racing (Racing cockpit / Flight Yokes with Bravo Quadrant) and Music. So lots of static screens. I do have the screen OLED refresh and quarterly manually run OLED refresh my self on all devices. I also changed my browser from a standard white theme to dark.
My CX had burn-in in less than one year. What burned in was the bookmark icons bar on my browser. I've learned lots of new tricks and am now using a C2.
I haven't tried plugging them directly into the TV I typically use them connected via my PC or PlayStation. My main concern, especially with something with high impedance, would be if the TV has enough power to drive them properly so I just stick with using an amp

AWESOME Review.....Thanks, I just got mine for $600, and it's WOOW after using Samsung G9 which is amazing, but the screen is too narrow despite the curvature...because you want to play different games on it not only shooters..... So Once you go OLED you never go back.

Thank you! I’m really happy with the 42” but if I hadn’t already bought this and gotten used to the size, the new 32” 4k from asus has been standing out to me as well. The chair is called Poang from IKEA
It should also support UltraWide 21:9 mode btw, like the LG C2. Useless for consoles, but useful for PC gamers, I believe it is 3840x1600 38" UW in that mode. I think overall if you want a gaming monitor with TV improvements for movies and whatnot, the best to do right now is to wait for the 2024 models.
yes it does support Ultrawide 21:9 on both c2 and c3 and it works great HOWEVER if you mainly run it at 21:9 and only everynow and then display 16:9 you run the risk of uneven pixel derogation on the top and bottom so that would have to be a personal choice if you take that path
I love this TV, been using it for more than five months. Do you use any streaming devices for DV or inbuilt webOS? Ive paired it with ATV and its a significant upgrade from webOS (also infuse for movies is a great experience). I just need to get a high end pc built to complete mysetup. I'm still running on 4k60hz 8bit ycbcr 422 sdr for nonhdr content ofcourse thats my pc limitation. But I'm sure you get 4k120hz 12bit depth on your pc.
I don't really watch movies on it that much so haven't really messed around with it, mainly use it for work and gaming but I'll keep that in mind and look into an ATV for sure! Gaming has been crazy though, even at lower refresh rates with the PS5 it looks stunning.
Really nifty feature! For the most part I barely even notice when it's happening in a game or watching content, really only when I have two things open at once and one triggers the entire screen to dim. Like editing a photo on half the screen and watching a YT video on the other half, when the YT video gets bright and triggers ABL, now my photo is also dimmed. Not a huge deal though, I think the pros outweigh the cons
I really liked the visuals of this video. Really great job. One thing I would've preferred though would be to see more of the product itself with narration and less of talking head. That would be my suggestion for future videos. It aggregates more value.
Overall picture quality the C3 since it's 4k, but It really depends on the games you play and how far away you sit. If you play on keyboard and mouse the TV has a bit too much verticality, but if you play on controller, sit back a bit, and don't push over 120fps its a solid option. As for the G9, although its 1440p I like it much better for fast paced games due to the 240hz refresh rate and the screen height is perfect for sitting close playing keyboard and mouse without it towering over you. Definitely plan on making a comparison video sometime in the future, but essentially when talking gaming, they're two different displays for two different types of people. C3 for controller players that don't need over 120hz and G9 for people who enjoy the 32:9 aspect ratio, sit closer to the screen, and value a high refresh rate over 120hz
The use of this TV as a monitor is going to heavily depend on the height of the user themselves. I am 5ft 7 inches and after about 11 months of use of the 42C2, I sold it, since it was too tall and the upper corners where way to far out.
Height is a factor but maybe more important is distance and placement. Anything will be too big if you sit close enough. Since the video I got a 30" deep desk and centered the TV at eye level and it helped a lot with being able to see the whole screen without moving my head
? Going the oled way but which desk top tower from best buy do u recommend that can handle or out put 4k not I to gaming but will use it for work and school.
