  • NEW DELHI: On the 28th of September, the Regiment of Artillery celebrates its Raising Day. Gunners in all military stations get together to commemorate their victorious role in battles fought throughout history. The interview tracks artillery modernization that would decisively affect our battleworthiness as we face enemies on both our East and the North.
    A lot will depend on how far is our artillery’s reach, what is the degree of precision of artillery weapons, how swift is the sensor-shooter loop, and a lot more. Artillery, a combat arm, has also inducted the first lot of women entry officers. These young girls will surely make a mark, as their predecessors have done in other arms and services.
    Guest: Lt Gen Adosh Kumar. Currently, the Director General of artillery, the General has commanded an Artillery Division of a Strike Corps. held various critical staff appointments and has been an instructor in NDA, School of Artillery, and CDM.
    Host: Brig SK Chatterji (Retd) Editor, Bharatshakti.in

    interesting to note that DG laid out the Chinese strategy very precisely! that builds confidence in us to believe when he says that we know their strategy and we've plans in place for them! Thank You!

    Excellent exposition on the occasion of the Gunners day !! Glad we are realising the value of `Artillery' in this era of depth battles and non-contact warfare and working on its modernisation. Let us continue building on the strong foundation of "firepower" that we already have, bringing in more long-range vectors, with matching "eyes and ears" (sensors). To my mind, the rhetoric for a "Rocket force" in the Indian context, is but a rhetoric !! We can create similar deterrence and capability through strengthening Artillery, at an affordable cost !! Yes, the cost is important because that is what has inordinately delayed our modernisation already. Good shooting and a happy Gunners Day

    CBI or Indian govt. needs to open investigation into these generals who keep asking for lighter guns and stalling ATAGS induction. They seem to be after commissions given how many howitzer options are available within India.

      Everything isn't a straight rod, heavier guns, while powerful are also difficult to transport, specially in the north-eastern regions where in the mountains, the roads become steep and narrow and passage of big trucks towing heavy artillery can take days and even weeks to arrive anywhere relevant, this in contrast to the fact that China has whole freaking railway system for their logistics, eventually what wins wars? "logistics" , another lesson from the Russo-Ukraine war. This is also why MGAS is preferred over towed artillery which is a bygone era, I believe the DG himself mentioned it in another interview/presentation, the K9 Vajra is the most relevant artillery we have because of its self-mobility, however to make it more effective, we need to start mass producing our own versions.

    Sir, Kindly order 1800 ATAGS before any light howitzers. Please defeat Imports lobby.

    • @deathisabe
      @deathisabe 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No chance, army just issued a new requirement where they have now demanded 15 tonnes weight which pretty much ends any chance atags had. They are salivating for isareli athos now and very likley army will go for athos. What a crying shame whilst kalyani is exporting to armenia and now likely to brazil, argentina and phillipines, the indian army will likely order a measly 300 units for atags

  • @MrVishalsingh
    @MrVishalsingh 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    @8:55 They will either not buy Atags or procure in very less numbers. They again want industry to invest in R&D for a new gun. A world class gun is going to have same fate that was with Arjun tank.
    Import lobby and foreign companies have very heavy influence in Army😢.

    Technology driven modernisation is a given. However, Ukraine war has demonstrated that ammo production ie 'stamina' in simple terms, is of prime importance. For such a large country and its Army, our stamina is negligible. At given rate of investments, will we ever catch up... if ever?

    China did reverse engineering initially they were of low quality slowly and over the time they stick to it indigenous system now they are manufacturing and developing high quality systems beating American and Russian counter parts. Defence technology will change the economy of the country it will boast and reform civilian and commercial markets . Like internet military communication to today's social media apps

    The Chinese army is "artillery based" and has a huge rocket force, in the mountainous regions of Himalayas heights and mountain strike corps with special forces available at will to secure neutralised territory (via artillery). Modern warfare has gone way ahead of WW2, even countries like the USA are still pondering and evolving to adjust to new tactics and strategies.
    A highly motivated and effectively trained army assisted with satellite imagery and drones will be a safer bet for any army across the globe.
