I don't know why our navy officers are so obsessed with carriers..now a days an AC is a sitting duck in front of Hypersonic and Supersonic cruise missiles..also running an AC requires a huge operating cost and 1000s of lives are at stake in a warlike scenario..Navy should have given focus to building nuclear powered "hunter killer" submarines which will take the attack to the enemy's front gate and can roam undetected anywhere..4-5 nuclear attack submarines could come at a cost of building an AC and it's fighters..India has ballistic missile subs but those should act as a deterrent force and to safe guard the SSBN's activities we need hunter killer SSN subs
Can't agree more..in modern war carriers will prove to be a liability..the way China is dishing out submarines is a real worry . compounded with the old school tech in IAC ..is a colossal water.we need to double up on SSN and SSBN or be beaten. If the third carrier is starting with designs, it should at start be above 65000 tons and should have skii jump systems including the best in class radars and should increase the hard points to maximum and with all three aircrafts including 5th gen fighters.

Also, the risk distributed to women should be equal., it shouldn't be that Men are on the front and women unmeritful officers giving just orders from office OR women just being infront of computers in A/C offices OR managing logistics. Put them on risks too, thats true equality, especially when then want equal pay and benefits.

Proud of Navy that it has always Built its own systems since very start and depended minimum on imports. they were neglected due to obvious reasons. But Now they role is increasing. Its is also Inspiration for Amry and IAF that yes we can built world class systems on our own.
Good they are looking for homegrown futuristic/disruptive technologies. Is IN exploring few additional futuristic capabilities for IAC-2? like better propulsion, bigger angle deck for drones like Mojave etc., laser anti-drone defence, better elevators. Things have evolved in last 20 years from the time IAC -1 was ordered, new order should evolve too.

Once a 60,000 tonne Aircraft Carrier is built, I don't expect the naval industrial complex to build a 45,000 tonne Aircraft Carrier after that again. If confronted by two or more Aircraft Carriers on the Indian Ocean, would the Indian Navy only want one Aircraft Carrier to sail against them? An Aircraft Carrier sails in a battle group, so in the scenario, two Aircraft Carrier battle groups of the adversary will be met with one of our own. Won't this clearly be to our disadvantage? In my humble opinion, we are on the right track when it comes to building surface combatants like Corvettes, Frigates and Destroyers. We need Attack Submarines, both conventional and nuclear, and more Aircraft Carriers. If the IN has five Aircraft Carriers, will we not be able to operate them in naval exercises?
Ordering 2nd IAC is common sense but it makes no sense to order Multi-Billion $ 12000ton Destroyer in the era of Hypersonic missiles. India should instead double down on faster & smaller, 5000 ton multi-mission frigates which will should cost somewhere around 500-600 Million per unit

carriers can be sunk rather easily; islands cannot. Lakhswadeep, Nicobars, Anadamans....... Cheaper and best.

IAC 2 , and even if we have 3 AC, it's not always available. It needs refit and overhaul every few years due it's operating conditions.
