Hi Justin, very nice review! I just have one question. I'm fairly new into FPV and I own Emax Tinyhawk 2 Freestyle RTF kit. I'm loving it and I feel more self-confident in flying with it every day. But I would like to get some better goggles that are capable of recording video (HDR). This may be a noob question, but do you think is it smart to buy high end goggles like those two for Tinyhawk with stock VTX? Or do you think those goggles won't come to their potential on this drone? If so, what goggles do you recommend for Tinyhawk 2 freestyle, that are capable of recording and have better picture than the ones that are in the RTF kit? Thank you very much for your answer. I just got the 04X and can’t believe how incredibly sharp, clear, and bright the Display of all the menus are. I wear +1.50 reading glasses and I was able to focus these very easily with lots of range to spare. The image I receive from the drone one plane is much better than mu old 02x goggles too. I like these 04Xs a lot but I could not get the inner faceplate to clip in place.. and I do worry about it intermittent blackout issue. Have you experienced it and would you recommend doing the firmware updates now available? Can you tell me how to do a firmware update via the USB or make a video on how?

I’ve had a lot of fun flying with these 04X goggles.. the main problem with them is the User interface s/w is crude and it’s hard to Remember the specific buttons scroll wheel and wheel-button sequence and durations needed to do video playback in the goggles but it can be done.
How about Stereoscopic (3D) FPV, like the Sky02x ? Is it supported ?

Do you still like the antennas your using in this video for the O4x? I just got my pair of O4xs . Its my first pair of goggles. I tried using the stock omni antennas and also tried a right angle AXII stubby and a straight AXII After watching a video from another you tuber. But I'm not getting much range at all. Any suggestions to a antenna set would be much appreciated. Thanks again for the videos!!

Not only are analog quads cheaper, but we still don't have a viable "whoop" class digital quad. Digital is just too heavy to put on them. The future, yes, but we have a ways to go.
Totally agree with you. This is why I am after some new analogue goggles. My old Aomway commanders v2 are a bit dated now.

7:27 That Adjustable focus option is in my opinion the most important Factor on wither or not I can participate in this Hobby. The next factor is 3d, 2 Cams, 2 Signals and independent Display images. And it would also be nice to have all available A/V Frequencies, 900 Mhz option as well as 27hz/462 CBRS/FRS LoL, I am prolly asking for too much there tho but maybe not 🤪

My vision is really poor. What are in your opinion the best goggles to go with for somone like me who really don't see to well lol. I don't wear glasses I actually have a condition that requires surgery. But I still want to continue flying so I'm looking to buy the best as far as clarity when looking thru them.

Hi. Could someone help me please? What do you mean when you say - analog quads and digital quads? What if I want to build a drone by myself, ordering different parts separately? How do I know if it's an analog or digital? What part/detail determines it? How do I know if it will work with DJI goggles?
the video transmitter makes difference between analog and digital.
Would the Sky04X work with Shark Byte? I think that changes things quite a lot. I've seen videos of people using the system with the Sky03O.

Last week the Eachine EV300O were on sale for EUR 338 including tax which is around USD 400. They were actually even cheaper than the Skyzone 03O - by about 15 bucks (being on sale as well). I was just about to order the Skyzone 03O when I saw these and instantly ordered them. The only downside was, that they were only on sale in black, but I can not complain :).
Btw. the Skyzone 04X are about EUR 400 now, but were about 480 last week, which made it a bigger difference than said it the review. I did not feel like it was worth it for me to spend that much more on something that is so close in performance.

My ev300o came with the exact same reciever (V1.2) that you have in your sky04x. You have indeed a prototype in your ev300o.
Thanks for the info, that's nice to hear, although I was kind of expecting that. It's just a version number difference after all and an old version is usually not something that is produced when a new one is out. From what I've heard is, that they're all produced in the same factory with the same build quality.
Yesterday I received mine and it also contains a V1.2 module. Actually the goggles are stated to be on version 1.2 as well (that's what's written on the manual).
I wear glasses. How does the -6~+6 focus adjustment , for long-sighted and near-sighted people work on the Eachine?
They are basically the same as the Skyzone 04X. See Bardwell's review.

I think the sky zones are great they come with a really good module that Bardwell said it as good as rapid fire they come with a better DVR than fat shark they come with an additional bay so you can add head tracker or a long range module a 1.3 module that you can switch back-and-forth they have a 6- to 6+ focus the screen resolution is capable for digital so you could use shark bite but I believe skyzone is going to come out with something digital for their goggles

Exactly the same for me. I've been flying with the Aomway V1 from the beginning and they have been good enough (not perfect ^^). I pre-ordered these Sky04X qith a coupon too, and can't wait for them to get here. :)
How do they compare to the Aomway commander V1's? I'm tempted to buy these goggles too. Big difference?
From what I heard is that both goggles are produced by Skyzone and very likely in the same factory. So the statements about build quality don't apply in my opinion because you have based that point only on the module, which was clearly an old version (and it is highly unlikely to be still produced anymore). That means the only difference is basically the higher resolution screen, which makes the googles a bit more expensive. In my opinion the higher price for the 04X is just on the edge of being justified for 50 bucks more - but at the moment the difference is quite a bit bigger than that.
Honestly with all the digital hype, I wouldn't jump on the DJI goggles- more than likely modules will come out to support digital signal like the Shark Byte, but even better.
I say buy a good set of HD analog goggles now and wait till the modules roll out, as of right now, I don't fully trust digital link, Murphy's law says you will loose link when you need to get out of a hairy situation.

Can you do a video or talk about the quadversity? I haven't seen or read anything about it. Even the sky zone manual doesn't mention it. I would like to know if and how it works. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

You’ll be waiting a long time. The current DJI goggles are fantastic. Dont wait six months. Buy and go fly. Enjoy life. Ps. Analog will not die until it gets as cheap to fly. Analog remains king for budget pilots.

@Grant R: Since the Sky04X support HD resolution, I'd say that's not that "old". The OLED screens could still be considered "new tech".

Analog is still superior for racing and freestyle. If you wanna cruise, explore, do occasional flippy flops you would want digital. The variable latency on digital is pain.
@@KOrnhOliO1 Lot's of people fly microdrones. The DJI system is way to heavy for them (any HD system is). That means analog won't go anywhere unless digital systems become way lighter. I think it will take much more than 2 years until that happens - although I'd love to be wrong about that. Until then digital is likely to become cheaper as well, when no one wants analog anymore.
Now Ev300o calls Sky04o.
And for analog there is no need to pay such money for Sky04x
Good review and research but in opinion FatShark and DJI are kings of the market!
They look nice, but I’m mostly flying DJI. I’m just sick of crap video. I have HDOs with TBS Fusion module for mainly toothpick builds. I did just build a Hornet HD digital toothpick that is insane! Also just built an ultralight 5” Shocker from Catalyst Machine works, which flys amazing. I guess I have been going lighter weight digital mostly. I might be interested in the Skyzones, if it were 2 years ago.
