6:50 Confirmation bias is the term you're looking for. Put on a pair of $300 Oculus Quest 2 goggles, compare the image quality and stock hardware to any comparably priced analog FPV goggle out there. Analog FPV goggles are way overpriced.

Great vid as always Stu! Can't help but think, these are $400, DJI V2 sells for $569, when there are in stock. So really these skyzones are not that cheap at all if we are calling DJI SO expensive. I reckon these goggles will probably appear very outdated goggles in a year or two like some old box goggles do now with how things are progressing digitally in the FPV world. So it kind of makes them an expensive starter set of goggles. Dont get me wrong, I like skyzones I fly with a pair of 02C's myself, but now I want something much better and with better range so will being upgrading very soon. Keep up the awesome Kwadtent mate!
Personally i think analog is still the way to go if you're starting out... and these goggles might be your best option. Air units are 150 dollars, and bnf digital quads are all priced with that in mind. If you're looking at wrecking your gear from time to time, it's gonna hurt your wallet quite a bit less with analog. Plus there's the benefit of not using dji gear that is only an update away from having all kinds of government imposed limitations baked in to it. I would much rather be free from all that
Like for me, DJI FPV v2 and an air unit costs around 1 000 USD. On the other hand an analog setup costs me about 600 USD (TBS unify pro32, Toothless mini, TBS triumph pro and Skyzone 04L. Which I think is a pretty solid setup). So sadly for me, going analog is an obvious choice. Prices in Czech Republic btw.

I fly my HD3‘s I bought new back then, modding them as I go - nowadays I would always buy DJI goggles and an analog module plus adapter: it gets you flying digital, too, futureproof-ing to the max.
Pretty sure they don’t make a profit with those oculus vr goggles, that’s why meta has blown so much money on the metaverse. I also agree with you tho, the prices are ridiculous. If DJI devices were compatible with more fpv items, I would for sure just buy them.

I have EV300D and I just hate the refreshrate of these LCOS screens. I also have problems watching movies on DLP projectors (which create the very same effect). When I move my eyes left and right I see red, green and blue frames. When my eyes are still, the picture is ok. It's really disturbing. Maybe it's just me... Thanx for the review anyways :)
LCOS screens became pretty good nowadays. Black is not so good than OLED screens have, but close enough to look the same during flight. Childhood issues seen in TOPSKY F7X and first Eachine EV200D like ghosting and mirrored reflections at bottom (lack of matte paint outside module block) are usually ironed out. Skyzone SKY04L actually are one of googles I'm looking for current EV200D replacement. Also I hope that with OpenHD evolving SKY04L will get an receiver module with HDMI output for affordable HD FPV without geofencing instead of proprietary DJI FPV now.
So, after stating that OLED might be overated 15+ times in the video, you're suggesting that OLED might be overrated? I think 2-3 times might have been enough for viewers to get the point. :)
I've been clutching onto my old SKY02's for years, living that wide-screen life and enjoying reliable operation. But then the fellas with modules and Crossfire setups started flying over to the next county, and I stayed with the old go-to, keeping my walk-of-shame contained to this area code. But it may be time to move on, these look like worthy replacements!

I just bought a pair of Skyzones codra x v2 goggles and the strap was a big disappointment i have a big head and it would not tighten up to give you that nice firm feeling pressed up on your face i had to put my own on and now there
You keep saying they have zero light leakage are you being serious or do they have a ton of light leakage and your commenting it so much because it's that bad
the receiver is SOLID...i fly with 2 other people who both use rapidfire...this rapidmix receiver keeps up with and in some cases out performs rapidfire. i own the EV300O's same module..OLED screens..
I've had the Emax EZ Pilot box goggles and the Eachine EV100 goggles and the Sky03O goggles. I don't know if it's screen type or what, but the Sky 03O goggles paired with the Foxeer Trex camera looks amazing. I can see power lines pretty clearly with my setup. Not as good as digital but I don't know that there is a better setup. Maybe if I had the Rapid Mix receiver or Rapidfire, but other than that I think I have a top analog setup.
Not much to compare. They are mostly the same but only difference is the oled screen on the 04x. So it's simply a matter of if you feel that is important enough to spend extra money on.

Just bought a set of 04X's that have the new v3.3 steadyview VRX and they really are amazingly good with analog from a glitchy whoop making it look almost as solid as my HDZero whoops video(damn close). My biggest complaint is the headband being so tight! I cut away the plastic adjustment and that got me a tiny bit of slack but it's still WAY too tight. Wtf is Skyzone thinking?
Love the channel but with that being said. You keep taking away from us. First you got rid of the good DAY and TODAY bit. Then youbgot ridbof the beep at the end of 3 2 1. Lol. Bring back the TODAY. Lol keep up the good work.
They've updated these to V2 with a "SteadyView" module that some are saying is REALLY good for the money. They also have a good DVR in them, and I've seen them as low as $360. I coulda sworn they were a little less than that, but "everything" is going up right now as of me typing this, so ... watch out.

i would buy them in a heartbeat....if it weren't for the IPD range .....they need to extend the range to at least IPD 75.....to accomidate us fatheaded americans......my IPD is 74 and i have already been burned by buying lesser IPD goggles and having them not work for me.....great video stu....thx...

These goggles should come with a GINORMOUS warning on them. Like my Sky 04X these shutoff if you don't move for 3 minutes. This especially sucks if it happens when you're flying, I know from experience :( other than that my 04x is the best. Great review!
I don't remember if it was you or JB that did this but is it possible to put up a gopro or your choice of HD camera and point it directly in the screen of the goggle to show the difference between OLED and LCOS. I am curious to see them side by side. Also have you tried any fat shark modules in skyzone? I've read in a few forums they don't fit properly

I used the eachine ev200D, they have similar screen as the skyzones, I was happy with them till the screens power board burned out. A local here had Orqas and wanted to sell them, nice, but I'm not a fan of oleds with the edges sometimes blur, depends on how I put them on. has to be centered just right.

This offers nothing over the cobra X other than OLED and not being a box goggle and for that reason I'm out. Literally, same RX, same resolution, all you're paying for is the trendy look and oled (maybe I missed something skimming the specs?). oh wait, if you wear glasses the 04L ain't gonna suit, whereas it does with the cobra. Not worth paying 400 anymore for analog. Cheap analog or go digital is where its at these days.

Yeah, but consider an air unit is around $100 and you can buy a top of the line vtx for about half that.

You have to make a new budget build and please use the hglrc f722 mini (it’s cheap)

Nice review! Curious why your patch antenna is pointed way off to the left? Shouldn't that be pointed straight forward for best patch reception?

i wear glasses the adjustments on these ( ev300o's , HDO2...any goggle with IPD AND focus ) work GREAT.
