    The reason she tells the entire backstory is to give us an idea of these people and where they've come from. If I recall, she also tells the backstory of the victims. This let's you make a decision with *all* the pieces that lead up to the creation of these events and not just the pieces that surround the immediate case.
    It's especially good to know the entire backstory when it comes to criminals or murderers who are a clear result of their upbringing or show signs as a child. It's interesting to see how their actions line up to their childhood.

    I don’t understand why people are complaining about the amount of details and time bc a lot of the videos are 50 minutes or more anyways. I think this gives more insight into the minds of the murderers and victims more, plus the backstory of both, than any other channel Valkyrie watches. Much better than watching a boring interview tape for the whole 40-50 minutes. This type of video allows everyone to make a more informed decision/opinion on what happened, who was in the right/wrong, etc.

      As Rae was saying it begins to feel too pedantic. Like I don't really care about these guys or their childhood honestly. After filling us in on how spoiled and rotten they were their entire lives for the third time it just becomes a bit much. I'm much more fascinated in the investigation of the murder or the interrogations than I am of the nitty gritty details of their High School years.

    The fact that a lot of their family members agreed that they definitely know or think they suffered years of psychological and sexual abuse is enough for me to believe them, as well as how they spoke about their trauma. It's disgusting at that time and still nowadays men who get abused and suffer from mental health are not treated the same as women and aren't believed.

      @gromswowguide7927 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      well i agree that it should be taken just as serious with men as with women as the victim but, if their father wanted them to succeed so badly, and had affairs whenever he wanted, i don't think this is a case of abuse, that defence always comes up in great detail, like the "wrath of Jodi" case, this happened that happened, he had anger issues, rapist, pedo etc.. I could be wrong, but the fact is that their therapist thought of them BOTH as someone with sociopathic tendences, and the story of killing your father or mother for power and or wealth goes back to ancient rome, yeah major incentive, couple that with the high likelyhood of 2x sociopathic tendency, yeah i believe their parents were killed in cold blood, and that all the abuse was a lie, an exaggerated idea they came up with, from their father merely pushed them to do better a little more than most parents.

Tbh that, and the fact that 2 cousins testified and supported them, them apparently talking about some of the abuse as children, and the fact that their family members supported them, etc. makes me inclined to believe them.
      I think that the wealth was an incentive, for sure. However, I do kinda believe their story. Perhaps it was a bit embellished for the sake of their defense.

    • @Xephorian
      @Xephorian ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CLAIRE-_-. possibly not embellished. If you look into it online and not just from this video you'll see that In the first trial, there was testimony from family members, friends, teachers, coaches, etc who witnessed Jose and Kitty Menendez mistreating their sons. There were also medical reports from the childhood years of the brothers. These reports documented psychosomatic symptoms such as headaches and stomach pains for which no medical or physical reason could be found. Lyle wet the bed until he was 14 years old (a classic sign of sexual abuse) and a medical report from when Erik was six years old showed that he suffered an injury to the back of his throat that is consistent with sexual abuse. There were also psychiatric experts who examined them and testified. And In the second trial, most of these witnesses were blocked from testifying until the penalty phase, so the jurors never learned anything about it or the family dynamics until after the brothers had been convicted. David Conn also admitted on Larry King Live a few years before his passing that he was aware that there had been other sexual abuse allegations against Jose Menendez; Les Zoeller, who was the lead detective on the case, stated the same when he was investigating the case (before the brothers were even arrested). There was a lot of homophobia and re-victimization when the brothers (particularly Erik, who admitted to being confused about his sexuality) testified.
      And the prosecutor and mayor(? I believe) at the time we're looking for a promotion and reelection respectively. And following the high profile acquittal of OJ these two were hoping that convicting suspects of this high profile case would earn them the brownie points they so desperately wanted.

    I personally don't think Kendalls video goes into enough detail about all of the abuse. It doesn't show their pain enough. I do believe they were abused. I think it is horrific what they endured. I just wish they shot them when they were getting abused so the self defence would be clear. I think they killed them out of fear. They endured this abuse for years. Since they were 5 years old. I think they just had enough and felt like this was the only way to protect themselves. This was the 80s and many people didn't believe a man of high status could sexually assault his children and that his sons could be sexually abused. Which obviously discredits male victims massively. Im so glad they are reunited after so long.

    For me the answer is in the murders themselves. If the boys just wanted to kill their parents for money they would have only shot them once or twice to get the job done. The fact that they continuously and violently mutilated their corpses even after death shows an explosive emotional response.

    there IS a line where you can record or tell the authorities about your client's situation. if the therapist knows that the situation is dangerous for the client and/or the society(? then they have a right if not an obligation to tell the police, ambulance, whatever seems right, to take care of it. the therapist did good to record the session.

    I agree with Rae that the TH-camr kept repeating stuff over and over and it kinda bothered me bc she left out some important details in favor of padding the video time with repetition and unnecessary details.
    Ex:
    In the first trial, there was testimony from family members, friends, teachers, coaches, etc who witnessed Jose and Kitty Menendez mistreating their sons.
    And as far as "why didn't any of this come up sooner." How could the dad/mom get away with this for so long? The signs are there "the dad is ashamed of his heritage and being cuban" hints at being ashamed of bi/homosexuality and so he uses his boys. Dad has affairs that mom knows ab translates to she looks the other way no matter what he does. Dad constantly pays off everyone to maintain the image of his family and himself translates to him keeping the abuse under wraps for decades.
    Should they have killed their parents?
    No
    Were their stories ab abuse from a young age true?
    Emotional, physical, mental:
    Almost definitely
    Sexual:
    most likely

    IDK why people are complaining about how Kendall Rae does her videos or if there are "unnecessary" details when I think they are necessary indeed because you get to hear about both sizes and what comes to the point of the actions to some this helps people a lot more on the crime other things as well something about Kendall rae i love is she always or almost always has her pets in the video. also, i don't think she uses a script but she tries to remember what she can and you can see some edits which is probably from her looking at what she has and trying to remember whatever is next..I don't like how Valkyrea skipped some of the stuff like the money part that is important because it shows that maybe they could have killed the parents for the money or with them instead of getting that money they just spend it on a whole lot of stuff instead of reacting like how a normal person would act when their parents are dead. With them throwing the money around it shows us how they did not care for their parents at all. However, the way is acting in the video shows that people like her just use to hearing the crime and just a very very short detail of the crime and all that they are not use to hearing the background or anything that's in detail even though those are the most imported thing to learn in a case to understand the full picture some time you have to hear very detail

    When clients confess to a crime, patient medical confidentiality falls. A doctor who knows that a person, for example, has killed another person and does not report him to the police, can be condemned as an "accomplice" (I put accomplice in quotes because I don't know if that's the right term). I don't know how legal it is to have a tape and / or someone out the door listening. Generally, if a psychiatrist / psychologist decides to record the session it is to take notes of the session at a later time, but I believe the recording is subsequently destroyed.

A therapist whether a psychologist, counselor or a therapist of any kind can break the confidentiality agreement between them and their client in two instances. 1) if the plan or have caused harm to themselves. 2) if they plan or have caused harm to others.

    The therapist (and any healthcare worker) is legally required to report if the patient has a plan to harm other people.

  • @SnowmanBiggz
    @SnowmanBiggz ปีที่แล้ว

    The line is when they have told the therapist something that has involved harm to themselves or others or that will involve harm to themselves or others. For example, if a patient tells their therapist that they've been thinking about shooting up a school, the therapist is obligated by law to report that to police. The therapist is not obligated to discuss their medical history or diagnosis unless they are subpoenaed and have to testify if in court. However, if the patient tells their therapist that they've had bad thoughts but do not elaborate, the therapist isn't required to do anything with it. It's more or less on the therapist at that time to dissect said thoughts further and determine if there is potential for serious harm or death to the individual or others. If the therapist determines it is something they can treat with more sessions or medication like schizophrenia then they have no obligation to report to the authorities. If, however, they determine what was discussed to be something they can prevent from happening that sessions or medication won't work, they are expected to report it to the police. In fact, therapists are supposed to tell you a version of this when you start seeing them. The quick version is "I'm here to talk with you about whatever you want, but if it's something that is a crime, I am obligated by law to report it to the authorities." Priests, though, because of laws protecting religion can hear a confession of any crime including murder and are expected to keep it a secret.

Some places that applies ONLY to information that relates specifically to their health data, via HIPAA. Some places carve out exceptions specifically for criminal behavior. Some have no law regarding patient confidentiality at all, again, outside of health information. So, depending on where they could reveal anything that you say outside of like medical records, some places you can’t even acknowledge they’re patients… it really depends. Therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists have the legal right to tell police if their patient is a danger to themselves or others. The movie script that mimicked the murder, the father being known as a womanizer (not gay or pedo), no mention from the therapist or friend of the 2 saying they were abused, the fact that they were adults when commiting the murders (they could've easily just run away with their money or punch the dad when he tried to rape them), and the fact that they got someone to delete the drive with the will in it.
    Even if they were abused, fact of the matter is they were not in mortal danger. They didn't retaliate out of fear for their lives, but out of revenge, out of anger, and/or to get rich.

    I hope Rae reacts to a video from Stephanie Harlowe next, she always has such good videos and just the right amount of sass whilst staying respectful

    I believe at least where I am from, Doctors are bound by confidentiality unless the client discloses information or intent to harm/kill themselves or others. However this is where they would get the police involved or section them under mental health acts.

    It is illegal to record the sessions if the client doesn’t know however therapist and psychologist are only allowed to say something or tell someone when a crime has taken place or if theu feel that the person is actually going to do physical harm to themselves or others.

    i believe they are guilty of the crimes but in a way, i believe that they were abused by their father. not saying this generally, but rich families especially back then we’re made to look perfect in the public eye but behind closed doors, things were going on. in no way i’m defending them because when u commit a crime, u know how much trouble you could be in, but i do believe that they were abused physically, mentally and emotionally by their parents

    It depends on where you are or which therapist you see because certain therapist will record your session and will let you know ahead of time that they are recording your sessions for research purposes and they will ask your permission if they can use your recording of the session to teach the students that they are training. Yes patient confidentiality is a thing but it is not illegal for them to record your sessions with them. But what is legal if they show your sessions to somebody else without you signing up right documentation so make sure you read Through all the documents they give you before going to therapy.

    rae is too used to jcs where its heavily biased and undetailed. psychology is to understand why, learn about the human mind and thinking process. thats why every detail is important. loved this way more than jcs

      HA, she left out some of the most important details while reiterating the same point over and over again about them being thiefs and never taking responsibility

      @Jersey Boy I was talking about the psychology, not the result. They're human not monsters

      clearly you know nothing about psychology and how it intersects with police interrogations. no actual psychology was included in the analysis conducted in this video, its simply behavioral observation.

    Also therapists are mandated reporters. If you threatened to kill yourself or someone else or have killed someone, you can report them to the police. And I think different states can record therapy sessions but idk if they can do it without the patients knowledge.
