Cruisers are forgiving. I'd try and stay with something smaller/lighter so you are not also managing the weight of an 800lb bike. BUT A sportster, Honda Shadow, Kawasaki Vulcan, Suzuki Boulevard are all great bikes. As a mechanic I'd say try and find something that I fuel injected and maybe had ABS like the new Honda Rebel they make those in a Rebel 250, 500, and 1,100
