i passed my general written today! your videos are a major part of the reason i stuck it out in aviation! i appreciate these uploads and the community you have!
I’m proud of you brother
Thanks for sharing your personal journey. I am soon to retire as an airline pilot, and am starting my A&P certification at a local Part 147 school next year. Your videos have been incredibly valuable to me. Thank you very much!
You’ve got great friends, and incredible wife because their advice was spot on! This was a really great video, from the standpoint we got to know who you are a little bit in the aviation space. I really appreciate it, and I do watch your content, especially as a newairplane owner. Of course, maintenance is going to be pretty large on my radar screen, no pun intended, so folks like you who do what you do are very important to folks like me. But this video was definitely a breath of fresh air, and definitely fun to watch. Take care, and keep thriving!
I love the lifestyle. No drama , great video
Can't allow any drama just kills the vibe.
You say that you would post less aviation videos because your side work will be more routine annuals, and that may not be interesting. I disagree! It is precisely those kinds of videos I want to see. For those of us in the field, seeing an 147 Instructor doing routine annuals would actually be very entertaining and informative.
I work for the Army at BNA most of my A&P coworkers went to Bakers
Brooo I’ve been watching you for a few weeks and I didn’t know you went to Bakers! I’m going there in September after I turn 22!
Looking forward to next weeks video! Thanks for your back story!
I'm excited to see your next video! Great positivity!
Nice job. Very interesting

Thanks for the content
Im so anxious to miss my enrollment into the a&p program next semester, hopefully its easier since all the highschool goobers would still be in school
Hopefully, you can get in somewhere. Obviously, with the cost savings, the community colleges fill up super fast.
Bryce - what portion do you teach ?
GENERALS ? AIRFRAME ? POWERPLANT ?
Which do you really like ?
Lining up my PP classes for Jan 2025 !
Goal is to work for Beechcraft FLA
BE EASY - Chill out !
I teach everything but here lately have been doing a lot of PowerPlant. We have hired a few new guys, and since generals are easier, that is what we have had them focused on.
@@brycebuildsit Very interesting
Would you say the ''state' colleges and tech schools pay the lowest ? Friend of mine who I went to A&P school with me 25 years now teaches there but refuses to tell me how much he makes, he's in one of those $5,500 full course schools.
I'm sure places like Embry Riddle pay great but want all kinds a certs and experience.
Doubt schools like AIM, NATIONAL AVIATION pay much, they are just cert mills and don't teach shit but rip you off for $40,000
I think PP would be the best for me because I've built many automotive engines from a Chevy small block to an Alfa Romeo 4 cylinder - AN ENGINE IS AN ENGINE, no matter what it's used in.
NOW, I know ZIP about turbines, NADA
Could get interested in something like a PT6 though
I am a Canadian too, I could work up there, I think the CAD is so low vs the us dollar the pay up there would be very low
Do a types of IAs you’ll meet
Thank you for the videos, they really help on my aircraft maintenance journey. I have one question, im about to graduate a part 147 school, and im not sure where to go after. I know you mentioned maybe wanting to have gone to a commercial airline after school, but are you happy with having gone into general? All ive ever worked on is general aircraft so thats what im drawn to, but some people have told me ill never make much money. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks again.
For me, working on general aviation is fun. But the company I worked for, for 6 years, at least the last year and a half that I worked there, very quickly became a place I did not want to work. It was all about, rush, rush, rush, and making the money over all else. If you find the right spot in general aviation, I’m sure it will be good. I got out and now I am in corporate. Making more for way less stress and not having to deal with my old employers BS.
I love the airplanes and the community. The reason I sometimes feel I should have gone to an airline is because I want to see the world, and that would have opened that door. GA is all about who you work for you will meet some incredible people. There are also a handful of bad apples.
IT is tough to figure out the best place and what to work on.
I'd say OPEN up the dream part of your brain and think of the MOST interesting JOB that makes your heart race !
That impossible job !
Personally I love Cessna Caravans and the new 408
Would love to work on them and maybe fly them too
MY wildest dream is to get some experience then go to Botswana Africa, where they use these planes to take tourists out to the game reserves.
Check out BUSH PILOTS BOTSWANA !
There are camps there where foreign pilots live / waiting to see if they can land a pilot job.
How interesting would it be if you had to check for elephants, lions, crocadiles, cows, hippos - before landing !
Little known fact, you can fly commercially overseas with 250 hours.
Bring back the Stache
I would like to work as a avionics technician or electrician. The ones who test equipment. I see some job openings it seems they require HS degree with some relatively experience. Of course I’m no expert in this. Do you think I can get a job like that without having a A/P license? And how much is the average salary in Texas?
You can but it may be difficult. I would try and find an apprentice program for that kind of work. With an A&P Avionics techs make good money I wont say a specific amount because I don't know for sure but its more then an A&P which average around 27ish an hour.
Here's a question that has just come up, I bet you have the answer
I hold an FAA AIRFRAME and Took some Powerplant classes
IN FL there are about 4 Eastern Florida State Colleges in differeent cities.
They ALL do the same program ;
PP1 AMT0821
PP2 AMT0822
PP3 AMT0823
PP4 AMT0824
I did PP1 0821 back in 2009 at one of these schools
The one I want to finish up with has the same programs
DO classes this old EXPIRE ?
WHO decides if I can use this 0821 PP1 part of the program using my transcript ? The Director of the program or the FAA ??
The classes do not expire, It will be up to the director of the program as to if they will give you credit for the classes you have already taken. You may run into an issue in that the schools no longer teach the PTS and have transitioned to the ACS (per the FAA) I know where I am we have granted credit for classes taught by another 147 and issued a certificate of completion.
@@brycebuildsit OK tks Bryce
Am leaning to a school I went to before but not the one where I took some classes. A student I had in the same class in 2000 is now a teacher there !
Some schools are very welcoming (approved in 2 days) and other act like they really don't give a damn, run by idiots ! Those are the ones to AVOID !
@@brycebuildsit Might require some serious studying for the old classes 15 years ago to pass O&P's
Entertaining skipping PP and going right to work if they will hire me. The income loss of 8 months school is huge.
Great content brother keep them coming let’s chat soon
Thank you
