Excellent Video Bryce!!!!! I glad you called this out. Anyone who knows anything about aviation maintenance knows that the last thing a maintainer wants is to be on camera. This is because of the BS that goes on when yr on camera. A maintainer that doesn’t understand this hasn’t been burned or seen other people get burned.

Just found your channel and subscribed right away. (Of course, holding a current A&P, IA myself gives me no bias at all, haha.) Thank you for your willingness to create content despite your work schedule. I'll probably binge your videos as time allows!
Something that comes to mind for your video topic l is NDA limits and/or employers and customers being unwilling to have their fleet and facilities shown on the internet. This probably affects those of us working in part 121 more than others, but it's worth mentioning. I once asked my employer about submitting a customer aircraft photo with a beautiful sunset and a blimp in the background to post on the company social media. The process of requesting customer approval from the right channel was so convoluted that I dropped the request. I can understand why aircraft owners and operators would be so tight, but it surely doesn't help educate our youth about an interesting and fulfilling career.
At the end of the day, we desperately need competent mechanics, and unless we can get the word out, aviation will suffer.
    Stay curious. Stay humble.

Definitely have been debating starting my own channel and even a pod cast. Been in the career for 4 years. I started on cargo birds but now work in the medical side. I have met a lot of different A&Ps that have worked in a bunch of different areas in the maintenance world. I think it would be a cool concept to have A&Ps that have different maintenance experience in the industry (Cargo, GA, Private, Commercial, Ect.) come on and talk about their experiences. I think it would be a fantastic way to get new people into this career.

Agree with you 1000%- sadly. Also- the FAA would rather go after you than Boeing... because it's easier, and cost less.
Looking at some of the other DIY vids, there's massive amounts of people (or bots) commenting that "They do this for a living" and half say it's right, half say it's wrong with their own "20 year professional opinion" and it's wrong too.
Bottom line- the liability is too much to handle for the A&P that makes too little for their worth, and everyone's just trynna work and go home after 8 hours.

      @@brycebuildsit 60 hours? What a slacker. 😛
In my much younger days back when pterodactyls were still flying around in great numbers, I rarely put in less than 80 hours and usually worked 6-7 days. Holiday's??? What the heck are those.
Now, all joking aside, I REALLY HOPE I never see anyone on Bryce's channel start talking about Jason on Requild Rescue or Jimmy on Jimmy's World as REAL aircraft mechanics. I'm sure you all have much better sense than that.
I understand the reasons why very few are willing to put themselves on YT that don't revolve around the amount of time it takes. With the social disease society we have today, there are always "Karen's" out there that will do everything they can to cause someone trouble even if they know nothing about what they speak of. And 99+% of them don't have a clue. So, A&P's make the decision to just not take the chance. I get it and can't really disagree with it. I personally just have no desire to do it. I have too much work to do every day and never enough time to get it all done.

Thats because the general public sees the pilots as the shining stars on any aircraft, and the mechanics are just grease monkeys to them. They don't ever think about how that aircraft is kept in the air safely to get them where they are going. And when their flight is delayed by a mechanical issue, they truely believe it's because the grease monkeys didn't do their job correctly. Exactly why I did not go to work for American when I had the offer in hand 40 years ago, and stayed in general/corporate aviation.

@@brycebuildsit and that’s what you’re doing in this video. Which hits the nail on the head btw. It’s the same guys that roll up in the hangar but their opinions are weighed against getting a wrench thrown at em lol

I think your completely wrong as to why there aren't many A&P/IAs showing maintenance on TH-cam. It's not because people will critique you, it's not because people will tell you your wrong in what/how your doing things. It's 100% because aviation maintenance is very very very important to make sure you're doing things right and not being distracted. Thinking about what your saying to the camera while working is a major distraction. You need to concentrate on what your working on and not your dialog to the camera. You will forget something or you will miss something. Distraction is a big issue with video taping yourself. I've been working on aircraft with my license since 1998. I'm 45 years old now and do it everyday. You need to concentrate on the task at hand. Not the camera. However taking photos and posting those online is not a distraction as you can take the photos then when your done with the job you can sit down and post them. I do use IG sometimes to show maintenance. But filming myself while working is just something I don't think aviation mechanics should do. @Fishermotorcompany

Yea that's another thing I think people miss. When I am doing my job I'm 100% focused on what I am doing at that moment.
