Never have I felt like instruction worked so well in any cooking video as this one. Absolutely amazing lobster tails were made doing exactly these steps, and I can't thank you enough for the tutorial!
The tails in the video are 10 oz. each. They are certainly a big portion but remember that you lose some weight to the shell. Each 10 oz. tail yields around 8 oz of meat. Cooking times are listed on the video from 3:58-4:08. Hope yours turn out great!
-stop before u cut to the fand out end of the lobster tail -useing the shell when u bake to piggyback the meat ontop of the shell -u dont want to rip it so hard that the shell just breaks in half -allow it to hold together but gives u enough room to get inbetween the shell and the lobster meat -and pull the meat off the lower membrane which is underneath the belly of the tail and then set it back down -preheat oven 375 -coat lobster tail meat in olive oil -pinch shell under lobster tail meat and piggy back meat so its sitting ontop of the shell -sprinkle a dash of papyrikya before u put in oven -one and a half minute per ounce of lobster, 5mins -broil 3 mins
Thank you for going into detail about getting the meat off of the lower membrane. Most people gloss over this part or do not show it at all!! Thanks again!!! Great video!!!
I am a prolific cook but I DO NOT eat seafood. And yet I'm charged with cooking surf and turf for the family this year. I needed this broken down Barney Style and yall did it! Thank you so much!
By far the best lobster tail preparation video on TH-cam. The video which initially taught me how to prep lobster tail. I lost this video and have been searching for this for hours
Trying it this way tomorrow myself with some rare rib eye steak, butter and garlic fries asparagus, and some good old Molson Canadian (I'm a Canuck lol). Thanks for the review!
Yep. Good old rare Canadian rib eye steak, good old beer (I'm Canadian so that's a given regardless), and some asparagus fried in butter and garlic. With ye a 100% on that one buddy.
GREAT video I have used this method for years and it works PERFECTLY. The nice thing about this method is that you can cook ANY size tail and they come out GREAT every time.
my son kept begging to taste lobster but I didn't know how to prepare. On my way home from the market I'm thinking..do I steam it, do I boil it..lol well thank goodness I found this video! I didn't have shears so I used a sharp butcher knife very gently to cut down the middle. Had a little trouble pinching the shell to make the meat sit on top but all said it turned out great! it was a beautiful orange color and the texture of the meat was perfect... Thank you!
This video was so informative and straightforward. I’ve never cooked lobster tails but I feel way more confident now after watching your video. Thank you! ☺️
Fantastic easy to follow instructions. You were clear and slow enough to be easily followed. And the lobster looked amazing. According to Alexa, I can be there for dinner in 11 hours 14 minutes. Save me a seat. Looks delicious. Thanks for the tutorial.
great video, thanks for the help! Ive had problems in the past with the lobster sticking to the inside of the shell once cooked. This video negated that problem! cheers
This was my first time cooking lobster and it came out amazing! I can’t thank you enough. My New Year’s Eve party was that much better, and we’re going into 2020 with a lot more lobster on the menu for dinner at home!
This video still holds true to this day. Instead of paprika though I use some cayenne and seafood seasoning and before broiling I add a bit of green onion on top the butter for that extra look.
Beautiful..just Beautiful! This was my first attempt and it came out perfectly. The lobster meat was the star as it wasn't over seasoned as per your instructions. The timing was right on as it couldn't have been sweeter or more tender. Thank you.
I have never made lobster before in my life. I searched the web, saw several different ways of cooking, then found your video. I made these for memorial day and they were a huge hit. Cooked perfectly using your instruction. I also did remove the single dark vein in the tail. Folks, use this technique for PERFECT and I do mean PERFECT lobster tail. My guests were SHOCKED. The shells turn red after baking. THANKS!!!
Thank You! I am trying Lobster tails for New Years for the first time ever. I've looked at 10 other sites that did not explain it and show it clearly like your video. Thank You Again. I'm going to make one tail for lunch just to make sure it comes out right. Dinner is at 5:00.
I followed this making butterflied lobster tails for the first time and it was absolutely amazing... thank you. Thought I used a Butter, garlic, and chive compote.
I thought I would share that after poking myself with the shell multiple times, I decided to insert the handle end of a small metal spoon between the shell and the lobster and roll it around to loosen the flesh. It really helped! Thanks for the tutorial. My lobster turned out wonderful.
My first time cooking lobster tail ever - I wanted to make a special meal to celebrate my husband's new job. Followed this recipe and NAILED it! He said it was better than he'd had in any restaurant, ever! Thanks for the recipe :)
kustom- When you take out the tails to do the broiling step, turn your oven up from 375 to the highest setting it has. Then put the butter on and stick the tails back in for three minutes. Shouldn't be a big deal!-Burhop's
For a more complete, larger, and more full looking lobster tail, you can seperate the shell all the way down to the fan of the tail and pull the tail all the way down to that point, giving it the ability to set entirely upon the shell and not appear to be squeezed by the shell.
Tonight I cooked my first lobster tail and have to admit i was nervous. Im not much of a cook. I found this video and have to say the lobster tail was delicious. My 87 year old mother also loved it. Thank you for taking the time to create the video.
I know this is a super old comment, but just curious I have 3 oz Tails as well. How long do you suggest to bake them at? 5 minutes? I have for 3 oz tails to do I never done Lobster before and don't want to overcook
Thank you for this wonderfully entertaining and very informative video. I just purchased lobster for my girlfriend and really wanted to leave a great impression. This was easy as 1 2 3 and now, I'm a hero! I will visit Burhops when in Chicago! Cheers!

Nice Vid! I bought some tails on sale at my local grocer, but realized I am clueless as to how to cook'em. If I ever make it to Chicago from Oregon I'll stop by your restaurant. You were extremely helpful on how to prepare the lobster for the oven. Also, I liked how you had a little bit of music, but it was not too loud or distracting ( I watched the vid 3x or I probably wouldn't've noticed the music at all).
Fantastic and am anxious to try with Maine lobster tails because coming from New England the flavor just isn’t the same but got these in a pinch as I have in the past and this is by far the best way to cook them! Thanks!
