Of course everything Virgil touches is beyond crazy awesome and well permeated with his unmistakable sound, but I was also really enjoying the tasty (unique) Bass work as well, didn't know who, until I looked at the liner notes, and WOW it's Tony Franklin, OF COURSE it is (of fret less "Firm" / fame) So nice to see/hear him alive, well and STILL at the top of his game, never stopped. He always had a wholly original sound then, and obviously still exploring. Gimme more.

Oh, how it does my heart good to hear guys as old as I am rocking this well and this hard. I saw Deep Purple some months back at Radio City in NYC. The immortal Steve Morse did himself and the band proud and the other members also delivered admirably. They called that tour The Long Goodbye Tour, hinting that they are nearing retirement, especially because drummer Ian Paice has some sort of neuro-degenerative illness, and Steve has advanced osteo-arthritis in his fingers that has tragically stolen much of his earlier dazzling chops. Oh well, life give and it take away. Virgil Donati is as fierce as ever, as are all the other members of this group. May I suggest that they next tackle some of Miley Cyrus' early material, perhaps from the Hannah Montana years. 🤪
