The world’s on fire
And I can’t get my arse out of bed
The world is on fire
There’s smoke all around my head
What was I thinking about when I crashed last night……
The oceans are rising
And I can’t do a thing about that
So it’s hardly surprising
I built an ark for me and my sleek black cat
What was I thinking about when I crashed last night……
Oh yes, turn off the gas and don’t forget to switch off the light
But that’s all right coz I’m a lazy sod and I’m hot
Don’t mind me coz I’m a lazy sod, you can like it or not
I’m guessing not
What was I thinking about when I crashed last night……
Oh yes, turn off the gas and don’t forget to switch off the light
That’s all right coz I’m a lazy sod and I’m hot, so hot
Don’t mind me coz I’m a lazy sod,
Whether you like it, like it or not
And I’m guessing not
Soooo what

Nearly 80 years old and still putting out good new music. Massive respect for the band

Am 43 years old, when I was a child, Deep Purple was considered as an old classic rock band. I wish more youngsters enjoy their fantastic music
Same here, although I'm a few years older. I discovered Purple in the early 90ies through some friends and couldn't believe how lucky I was to see them live in '93 (one of the last shows with the class Mark 2 lineup). They were considered "rock dinosaurs" back then. Who would have known that they are alive and kicking in 2024?. They still sound very good, although the new songs are not as memorable for me, but they haven't been since Jon Lord left the band, over 20 years ago now. Notable exception: Nothing at all, I love this song.
they are old, to be fair. Some would call this new sound elevator music but hey, they can still rock and roll. I'll take it. And they are damn good live still
When I stared to listen to DeepPurple it was 1993 and everyone around me considered them an old band. I am 45 now.
@@dmytroklokol4030 I hear ya. They never faded away, imo. What's sad is most people today probably never heard of them
Same here. When I was a kid listening to Metallica and Megadeth visiting my dad one time. I decided to look through his vinyl collection... I stumbled upon Deep purple In rock, Machine head and Burn. I was like, what is this? It says Machine head on the cover... I know a band called Machine head... so I put it on... And I was not disappointed haha! Highway star, Child in time, Burn, and I was also blown away by the instrumental on Burn "'A' 200" which kind of reminded me of video game music I had heard. So that's when dots to Nobuo Uematsu started to materialise. It was a trip haha!
This brought tears to my eyes.
Deep Purple was my father's favorite band and, thanks to him, mine as well... He passed away last XMas and now i can't share this with him.

@@peterdefrankrijker Thanks for clarifying, Peter. I had no idea of Steve's struggles. I hope all ends well.
@@IllusionSector Yeah, Steve Morse absoutely is an awesome guitarist but hey, I’m an old school Blackmore guy so my mind was made up before Steve joined. I like some of his work, like on Purpendicular, but to me, DP without RB sounds like a cover band to me.
That’s what I appreciate about Led Zeppelin. They had the common sense to stop when one of the core members “became unavailable”. So everything after DP MkII sounds off to me. Same with Van Halen after DLR, AC/DC after Bon Scott or Genesis after Peter Gabriel.
I just hate change. It must be my OCD, I guess.

I agree, it saounds like classic Deep Purple. I was in Lima for a few months in 1990, 1992 and 1993. We listened to a lot of Deep Purple among others back then. I had the experience of listening to the very first Deep Purple. I was one month from being born, I would hear only through the skin of my mother's belly. Close nearby a loud English band played at "Parkskolen" school.. Announced as "The Roundabouts", as they entered stage they announced they'd just decided upon changing their name to... Deep Purple. It blew my expectations out of my portable door
I just saw them live one hour ago. Rocking as hard as you could imagine. The f* bosses. 10/10
Deep Purple is the reason I started playing the guitar and how I ended up being a musician.
Having been born in the early 90s, I obviously got into them way past their commercial peak. As a kid I fell into the 'I was born in the wrong era' trap.
But the lesson I learned from Deep Purple is the importance of being in it for the music. When Steve Morse joined in the 90s, the kind of hard rock Deep Purple was known for was no longer a thing (although their influence was certainly present in the grunge and post grunge of the time) but they still played with the same passion they always had, and probably even more so with the more wholesome vibe Morse brought to the band's chemistry.
I finally saw them live in 2006, when almost all the members were over or nearing 60. I missed the presence of Jon Lord but they replaced him with the only person who could, Don Airey. And boy, they played. My ears rang for 2 glorious days after the gig.
I got to see them again in 2023, playing a festival with much younger bands and while Gillan's voice had considerably weakened (which is allowed for a nearly-80 year old man), Glover and Paice still played like it Osaka in 1972, and Simon McBride more than delivered as Morse's successor.
And now, it's 2024, and I get a little emotional that these dudes, particularly Gillan, Paice and Glover are still making new music after over half a century while virtually all their 70s contemporaries either have either broken up or have sadly passed on.
Truly a one of a kind band.
At the age of 20, my father was beginning to see the release of his hits. Today, at 70 years old, he continues to see new releases. It's a beautiful madness
Mr. Gillan is amazing. Fantastic voice through many years.
Nice work gents!
Ian Gillan still has that distinct voice.
And Glover owning the bass and Paice in supreme command of the drums.
I'm 60 and I'd stand in line to see them live.
Rock n Roll royalty!
I saw them in 72 and 74 at THEIR prime as well as MINE. No interest in paying to see them again or anybody else when its all available on youtube for free. The "excitement" of rock concerts were because you had never seen the band perform at all....just heard it on record or 8 tracks. and why would anybody pay $200 to watch OLD guys play anyway? I;;d rather just keep the memories of the 70s.

The guys still sound great, but you can't dismiss the nearly 30 years Steve Morse spent working and playing with them. He didn't just play guitar, but also wrote and/or co-wrote many of the tracks from that era, some of which were among the most "Purple" I've ever heard!
Purpendicular and Bananas were both stellar albums, as was Rapture Of The Deep. If you get the chance, check out the "Live At Montreux" (with an orchestra) dvd... it's absolutely chock full of epic stuff!
@@That70sGuitarist Nobody is asking you to dismiss what Steve Morse did, or what Ritchie Blackmore did before him. Just accept that it's a new era, with Simon McBride. Enjoy it...or not. Your choice.
@@CB-xr1eg Is English not your first language? I have to ask, because it seems as though you completely misunderstood what I wrote. Maybe you should go back and try reading it again, or have someone explain the parts you're just not getting.
I never said anyone was "asking me to dismiss" anything, nor did I say anything whatsoever about their new guitarist. I merely pointed out the fact that Deep Purple put out some of their best albums ever during the nearly 30 years that Steve Morse was their guitarist. I even recommended some of those albums to you, in case they had somehow "escaped your notice."
If there was any "dismissing" going on, it was you blithely dismissing Morse's incredibly productive tenure with Deep Purple. The truth is, he was by far *the* longest serving guitarist they've ever had, as well as one of their most prolific!
Be sure to let me know if you have any trouble comprehending any of *this* comment. If so, I'll try to remember to "dumb down" any future comments, just for your benefit.
@@That70sGuitarist In the first line of your comment you said, " but you can't dismiss the nearly 30 years Steve Morse spent working and playing with them.", to which I replied, " Nobody is asking you to dismiss what Steve Morse did,". Why are you having trouble with that? You made that statement as though somebody actually was dismissing Steve and his work, but they weren't. Hence my reply. How you came to the conclusion that I was blithely dismissing" his tenure is quite baffling. I didn't say that and I didn't imply it. I appreciate what he's done with/for Deep Purple. I don't happen to like all of what he's done but that's just personal taste. You have to accept that not all of us are Stevie fanboys like you. My opinion is that Simon McBride is a far better fit for this band than Steve ever was. I'm sure you'll disagree but hey ho.
As for me misunderstanding, I have the feeling it's you who has misunderstood, maybe deliberately who knows?
Anyway, I hope you feel better after your needless little rant.

Critics are almost always wrong and never in step with what most people think. Bands who the critics usually savaged were some of the best Bands ever. These Guys are still going strong. They are getting on in Years, but so am I now. I saw these great Rock Musicians at Concerts when they were still very young, when they were still jumping around on the Stage. Back then I could also hop and jumpregardless, I still love Deep Purple
Finally. Purple sounding like Purple. New guitarist is a way better fit!
Richie Blackmore !!
@@Fat12219🌈🤍
Morse is in my top 4 guitariists as well as top 2 favorite guitar based nstrumental composer. However I've felt from the start that his style didn't fit..... oil and water. Morse is perfect in Morse Band and Dregs but not here. First time hearing this new lineup. Guitarist works out great. Never heard of him Love his style. Fantastic
OMG! I'm 57 years old, and these Blokes have been doing this since I was a wee child! They sound as good as "Smoke on the water"!
Well I'm 66...and my big 'rebel' album when I was a kid was Made in Japan. I was 14. Now I'm a retired great grandfather. Yet I reckon their latest stuff since 2017 (i.e Paradise Bar etc) is equal to or better than Machine Head. .esp this latest album. These guys are masters of their craft. Incredible work ethic. Only two others can compare...Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan.
@@JonesofArc How can you compare McCartney to the one of the greatest rock bands of all time? HE was a lame pop star ever since about 1968 and has been living off OLD Beatles songs since then......
Absolute gold ..... these young sods are still at the top of their game .
You smooth talker, you
More talent than humanly required.
great song, rock on, Deep Purple!
Fabulous. Sounds like the old Purple
No matter how much time passes, Deep Purple remains being the best rock band of all times, depite nobody makes a film about the band or any of its components.
one of…
Gentlemen - Ian-1, Ian-2, Roger, Don, Simon... absolutely amazing. I have a feeling Deep Purple is reborn. Sounds like the best decades of your 60 years presence on stage. This is Deep Purple at its best. Great sound, shaking riffs, absolute perfection in arrangements and instrumental masterpiece. So nice to see you in this perfect shape!
best Deep Purple is only first 10 albums
seriously time to retire in dignity. While they can still play, it's not the same.
@@deejaytee7322 DP fans are in denial lol.
Не грусти, но сейчас звук, риффы, аранжировки и голос делают совсем не живые исполнители. И это произведение исполнено совсем не дедушками которым сильно 70++ лет. Тут только их лица в быстрой нарезке. Такова жизнь.
Kinda like when Perfect Strangers came out....I Love it.
カッコ良すぎです。素晴らしい!
何十年経ってもパープルはパープル!
I loved the new album, wonderful songs, great riffs
64 years young here! These are my boys of my youth and have remained for the rest of my life. Impeccable sound, eternal legends.
Great track and love Simon’s playing !
It's insane Deep Purple is still alive after newely 60 years. We are grateful that they are still here m
Wow ... Still wonderful voice❤❤❤❤😢😢😢
Gillan still has all the colour and charm he always had, even if the fireworks aren't there... After all these years, they still sound like... well... Purple! Love it...
I was just going to say that, even before Ian started singing.... sounds like DP!
@@ACfixer Well I beat ya to it! Chuckle...
Потрясающая группа на все времена! Это уже классика!
Yes, I´m convinced, that´s enough guys. I´m 100% sure, that the new DP album will be my Album Of The Year for sure. I´ve very much liked all the three singles, just what I crave at this moment in this world I´m living. Still remember how excited I was in 1984 when Perfect Strangers came out. My favorite DP record, still. Little did I know, that I would be nearly as excited for the upcoming DP album in 2024. After all, as a 14 year old boy I lived for the day. Happy times !
Pure quality. Can’t beat class ❤️
Да здравствует группа Deep Purple !! Супер!!❤❤

Ветераны.
The old men can still do it! The machine is well oiled and runs smoothly. Great new song with a lot of old Purple feeling. I wish the boys many more good years. Keep on rockin'.🎸🎙😎🎶💯🤟
Guns n Roses and Motley crue still cries about Apettite and Shout.....Deep Purple after plus 55 years still kicks with new and amazing stuff!!
But this song is utter rubbish.
Obviously don't know what real musicians are it is in the word musicians and also talent not pish that they call music these days sad person 🤣😁👍
@@thedigitalemotion In my opinion it isn't rubbish at all. The melody is great ,the music is fantastic and the words are more than great. I always love and loved Ian's lyrics, they have special meanings and a double meaning.
@@lesrobertson7794 Old crooners more like. This is an absolute shambles of a track. Glad your old ears like it though 👂🏼
Deep Purple. RESPECT!!!
Holy shit. New Purple!! I think the producer told the band "fellas, I gotta have more keyboard!" Lyrically simple but Awesome song
😂
My first album was Deep Purple in Rock buyed in 1970. Now its 2024 54 years ago and they still keep on rocking.
Now, this song took me ALL the way back. Thank you DP.
めちゃくちゃカッコいいじゃん。ギターソロも素晴らしい!イアン・ギランって不思議なボーカルだよな。シャウトしなくても、ちゃんとまとまってる。
Great! We are waiting for the album. Good health to the band members! And hello everyone!)
