  • Elite Dangerous Update 18.06 brought a significant overhaul to the Thargoid War, addressing player feedback and making the war more accessible with impactful contributions at any level. Here's a breakdown of the key changes:
    Focus on Contribution Variety:
    Previously, some activities, like scout sampling, dominated war effort contribution. Update 18.06 rebalances this by making all gameplay relevant.
    Combat received a major boost. Destroying Thargoid interceptors and participating in Anti-Xeno Combat Zones now significantly contribute to the war effort.
    War Contribution & Bounty Changes:
    Every gameplay action linked to the Thargoid War has revised contribution values.
    Here's what got a big boost:
    All Combat Actions: Taking down Thargoid interceptors and participating in Anti-Xeno Combat Zones is now much more rewarding for the war effort.
    Hunting Orthrus: Taking on these Thargoid variants in alert systems provides a bigger contribution.
    Spire Sabotage: These missions to damage Thargoid structures offer a more significant impact.
    All Mission Types: Running any mission in a system affected by the Thargoid War contributes more.
    All Rescue Operations: Saving civilians from Thargoid attacks has a greater impact.
    These changes aim to make every Commander's actions feel valuable, regardless of their preferred playstyle.

    I find it a bit funny that a relatively new player has tens of billions of credits but hardly knows how to fill their materials bins. Some balancing is a welcome update

    The Orthus nerve is more than overdue... It would also be interesting to know, what happens after we finished off the last titan, will all the gameplay related to the spires and the titans be gone? Or will we be able to find new ones later in more distant locations? Will Colonia be invaded next? And will we get on food Thargoids? Hopefully, FDEV has a story to tell and we are not yet done with it. Promising times for Elite. Let's wait and see.

      Ya I've been thinking Colonia invasion is high odds once bubble is clear... that would get a LOT of people out to Colonia who have never been there... would also make travel to colonia more risky with Hyperdictions

    I'd like to see the ability to transfer Tritium from storage to the Fuel tank on my FC remotely. So i don't have to keep going back to it as i'm out exploring and allowing me to move it as required.

      We all want it, it should really have maximum priority.
      Especially having to use a middle ship to transfer it, instead of a direct transfer, is ridiculous. What is the guy in charge of the tritium service doing? What are we paying him for? 🤷🏻‍♂️

      tbh that would completely trivialise refueling a carrier. I like the idea of hiring a refueling crew from the carrier suggestion video most.

      @@paradoxx_4221 there's already a guy in charge of the tritium depot, what's he doing? It's an optional service that contributes to the weekly cost, so yeah, we are already paying for it, weekly, for what?

      Ya it's insane that we need to load a ship to move from one bay to another... it should be a process - even if its not instant but takes time, even if it cost $, it should be internal to the carrier not requiring you to get into a type 9. The current Trit Manager is ripping us off doing nothing and collecting a salary you can't turn off.

      @@paradoxx_4221 more guys to pay? we already pay a guy in charge of the tritium depot, what for? it counts toward the weekly upkeep cost, so at least have him doing something instead of watching us load and unload a ship in order to fill the depot

    I’m so happy I can find more AX conflict zones, I’m less happy that I ALWAYS have to jump out before it’s complete though

    The decreased payout on the logistic thargoid is necessary, I think it's offensive how a noncombatant thargoid pays out more than the cyclops or the basilisks which poses more threat.

    I got my last orthrus grind in last night. I don’t think they shoudlve nerfed it- they should add stuff for us to spend credits on that makes the game more fun.
    They’ve given us several ways to make silly amounts of credits, and a single sink for them in FCs.

    When is powerplay 2.0 due out? Because at the rate things are going it'll take about 70+ weeks to kill off all the titans at 10 systems per week. So unless these changes make it much easier to clean out thargoid systems PP2 will be out long before the thargoid war is finished.

    I will hold off final judgment till we see how the rebalance works in practice. However, a rebalance is badly needed. Its demotivating spending ages building a ship to tear the hearts off a hydra or running infiltration on spire sites only to find you can help the war effort far more by sitting still and firing dozens of research limpets against the same poor scout while it hammers on your shields.

      Seriously, it would be an entirely new deep VR experience VR players need. There is NO game that scratches this need for VR players. NMS has really crappy VR implementation and is based in a really cartoonish galaxy. Elite has always been grounded in what could honestly be real human history and politics

      Only killed one of those things. Don't really care. I did think 40mil was ridiculous for them.

      Its way over priced.. I made 5 billion the old fashioned way by killing cyclops, etc. for a month. Made $2 bil in the last 3 days just doing orthorus... WAY too much for too little payout. And I'm using a fairly cheap Python Mk 2 build for it. Usually walk away with 100% hull and 85% shields after orthorus kill. It's shooting fish in a bucket.

    Neutral change. None of it will impact what the lot of us of us do, I'm sure. I'm about to finally regrind, on my PC account, for the Pacifiers, so I'll know just how much powerplay has changed lol. At least in terms of module unlocks.

    Why does it matter if one thing overshadowed another thing? At the of the day the question should be is it good or not? Unfortunately the latter is the answer for both things. Fleet carrier just another money sink with little to no use and odyssey well we know how that went. Both never improve tho it's just like everything else the added since launch, they're pretty consistent on that I suppose. Engineer, planetary landing, multicrew, squadron, bgs/pmf, power play. They're just there just bcuz

      @@Wassup-Doc Its no where near aweful compared to most games on steam, but is starting to see it's age... Antialiasing defiitly looks like a 10 year old game and not a recent one. Still very pretty overall.
