Holy crap bro, DO NOT put too many depth charges on the asteroid!! Cant you read what it says top right corner? Optimum Yield is in the blue zone. Depending how deep the crack is on the asteroid and how high the impact already is shown by the graph dictates how long the next explosive needs to be charged. Otherwise you destroy most of the yield! Also get 1 Kilometer (or mile) away to avoid your ship getting damaged. Please fix that in your vid or pin this comment!
Good Video, Just to clarify a couple things:
- Pulse Wave analyzer is useless for Laser mining, it is only good to find Cores and Surface and Sub-surface Deposits. For laser you just want to randomly prospect rocks until you find what you are looking for.
- For Laser Mining you REQUIRE an A rated Prospector otherwise you are getting less fragments.
- The Materials content on an asteroid (low, med, high) is the chance of Engineering Raw Materials to spawn while laser mining and has nothing to do with the minerals mined from the asteroid.
- There are 3rd party tools to find systems with hotspots more reliably than using the gal map, edtools aka Miner's tool is a good one.

With the seismic charge mining you don't need a charge in each fissure you just need enough to get the light up the blue "optimal" band on the display in the top right.
Each fissure has a strength (Low, Average and High) that is displayed in on your bottom left display when targeted, you can also charge up your charges (low, Average and High strength) using the bars around your cross hair. Shoot low strength charge into a low strength fissure etc and once your in the optimal yield range you can back off and detonate the charges before the time runs out to get more diamonds :)
Bonus: If you shoot the wrong charge into a fissure and exceed the optimal yield you can disarm charges in your contacts tab to undo them! :D
You are correct Oh AwesomeFletch. I probably need to make a video just on the intricacies of seismic charge mining, I thought it was a bit to much for a beginner's guide.

Don’t use class E prospector controller…use a class A, because that gives highest yield.

Thanks for the vid. Im not going to watch it all right now. I think part od the fun is learning stuff like this as I play. I've been jumping and scanning tons of systems and just bought a DBE last night. I love it. Im going to set it up for mining for now because I'm still breaking it in and don't want to buy too many ships early on. The ships are the coolest part of this game and I want to savour the "newness" of each one. So far I'm loving the game. It sat in my Steam library for years but I was turned off by the fact that you couldn't walk around inside of your ships. I didn't know that the game had so much depth or I'd have started years ago.

Krait MK II is a great mining ship. been using it for a couple years now.
The Krait is just great overall in my opinion. One of my favorite ships they've ever designed.

I wish I had the same control that you have with your ship, I can't keep the ship in position to launch the seismic charges, especially if the asteroid rotates even slowly
It's just lots of playtime. Keep flying and you'll get there too.
I disagree with some of the early game ships. You can absolutely mine in an Eagle or Viper. Viper Mk4 is basically as good as a Cobra when they're both shielded too. Imp Eagle and Viper can do core mining and easily make enough to go buy something better
Even Eagle mk2 is a big upgrade over a Sidewinder
I'll give you the Viper Mk 4, since you can get some decent cargo in it if you are paying attention to the modules. But the difference between an Eagle and a Sidewinder is pretty insignificant. The Eagle is largely a useless ship anyways, which is why I recommended skipping it and going to something with more capacity in the video.
How you set the pulse wave color to pink? Im new on the game and i really like the hud and pulse color.

@ReliquaryPrime I saw a youtuber with custom HUD colors and was surprised that there was no in-game setting for it and every ship had the orange HUD lol. I got EDHM and it's amazing. I like changing my HUD for different ships so each one feels more unique. Right now I'm using a blue and green color scheme with RGB pips and shields.
I would highly suggest filling full cargo racks with limpets. If you get real lucky and launch only a single prospector and 3 collectors, and manage to scoop up more than 4 tons of goodies, then you can just purge limpets. No need to leave 20 limpets out and shorten your mining time
I just wish Elite Dangerous was like Starcitizen, it would be so cool to land on any planet including Earth like planets and discover new life forms
