The Corvette is a corvette. Literally. It's the smallest thing short of a capital ship. It's what the Federation sends when they really want a problem to go away but all the big girls are busy.
The Federal Corvette is my chosen warship and totally worth the rep grind to obtain, the hours of engineering and hundreds of millions of credits invested. Put a Guardian FSD Booster in one of the class 5 compartments, you'll need the extra 10.5 light year jump boost.
You don't need the extra jump range on a warship. You won't be flying to the other side of the galaxy with it. You are going bounty or thargoid hunting, not on long expeditions. Put a fully engineered hull reinforcement package in that class 5 compartment instead. It will give you significantly more value.

Love my corvette, The Royal Fortune named after the flag ship of Bartholomew Black Bart Robert’s. I have it on my console edition sadly and not on my odyssey edition. It’s fully engineered and an absolute hammer, I show up to high CZ’s and clean house truly a beast of a ship. The grind was intense and the engineers grind even worse, it’s not as fast as my FDL by any means but I came from flying a Conda the Adventure Galley and its miles more maneuverable. Love it, if you are a commander looking for a powerful ship that forgives you for sometimes not being the most skilled pilot out on the field, this is it. Happy flying, see you in the black.
I don't know if they stopped doing it, but I had a similar issue with transferring over from PS4-PC, and Fdev actually allowed one transfer per account lifetime. Id look into that if possible, although you'll loose whatever progress you obtained on the PC version, if that's what your playing on.
My first AX ship was a Corvette, and I've never much time and effort into a single goal in a video game as I did with Thunder Child (the name is a War of the World reference). It took 8 months to unlock engineers, gain Fed rank, earn money, unlock system permits, collect materials, and unlock Guardian modules, during which I constantly refined the design and watched hours and hours of AX combat vids. I actually built three other ships during the process that i needed to further the final goal. It was worth it, and taking the completed ship out for the first time was immensely satisfying. And as a bonus, the things I unlocked and strategies I learned have made every ship I've built since then SO much easier! She was built in the Bubble, but with the intention of being stationed in the Pleiades, so i actually engineered two separate FSDs - one with the range to get there (but with power requirements that wouldn't allow full use of weapons), and the permanent FSD for use in combat one i got there. That's how precisely optimized for combat she is/was. There's nothing wasted. I could've flown out there in a different ship and paid the small fortune (by my standards back then) to have her shipped, but there was no way i want going to take her out there myself. I have a special bond with that ship. She's definitely not the best AX ship (though i did bag a Cyclops with her just past night), and new modules that have come out since then would require a full redesign to implement, but she introduced me to AX combat while opening up the galaxy to me. Plus, she looks absolutely badass... 😎
A lot of ships can do the whole "Shoot first, ask questions later" routine. Not the corvette. Pilots of a corvette, and any crew members along for the ride, only shoot. No point asking questions. The target can't answer fast enough before they are dust, and dust won't answer, either.
This is the ship we all look up to! Badass, feared and... versatile? I have a friend that flys this thing as a main ship for everything, we went exploring on my carrier and hopped onto fighters to blast around. Then we got beauty shots in front of a black hole. Oh I respect that if that's your opinion - beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that 😁. Do wish that the Dropship could be used as an actual *dropship* for ground based combat zones though.
just engineering this beast has taken me forever. theres so much to tweak and optimize that i had to sit down in excel and inara and plot out the mats needed. turns out i need to do it in 3 phases. Core internals, defenses/internal reinforcements and lastly weapons. i have no doubt itll be an absolute monster once its done but my god is it a lot.
Excellent video as always. I like the Vette, but most often as a decent earning target in assassination missions in my Python. It's a bit dodgy in PvP too as you can't bug out if the going gets tough. Cutter can at least run for it. But in PvE it is a fun ship and as you say it can be outfitted in so many different ways to vaporise enemies...hours of fun.
Just to add the placement of the huge hardpoints is unique. Being behid you are able to stay in the turn at very close range with them pointed at the opponent. The Conda and the Cutter both have got the huge hardpoint below main deck, that makes it impossible to point it in a turn at close range. The only way to do that for them is in reverse with pitch up. While the corvette can go forward and pith up and devastate at very close range. The way to exploit that feature is as shown in the video two multicannons specially engineered for the purpous either supercharged or fast fire. For the big and the 2 mediums are recommended lasers either long range to compensate for low speed or efficient. Or if you intend to fight only at short range frags lol. The small hardpoints are generally used for their special effects not for their fire power.
Mehrune, best corvette pilot imo, has a turreted pulse laser in one of the smalls to prevent people from fabricating ammo or other things when he can't get his fixed weapons on target

the best there is! I go to BP and a bit around it. 13000 jumps 🙂 I did the grind twice for my second free account 🙂
fdl review?:)
Soon hopefully - Got the Type-10 in the works at the moment, then was thinking of doing an exploration ship - after that I'll really need to think about getting some credits in the bank as I've just paid up my carrier for the next 6 months, so the FDL will need to come out to do what it does best - hunt, seek and earn many, many credits.
@@gamingsnipsandbits ;D
I played until I bought one and stopped
0:25 absolute bonklord
"Is expensive" - Well, looking at my nearly 4 Billions of credits nothing seems like "very expensive" anymore. except for a Carrier maintnance...
Made useless by P II. Corvette has a useless large hardpoint. I used it to safely transport 400 cargo but I found the T10 is better with 9 turrets. No doubt the T8 will mean many players selling their corvettes. It does do well as a passenger transporter. Not worth the grind.
