      @colibrifpv  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paularogers478 Hi Paula, the included charger is super useful, albeit a little funny to use because the lights blink when the sockets are empty! The 1s battery (the wider flat battery) is self explanatory since it only has 1 connector, but with the 2s battery, make sure you are plugging in the balance lead (the wider connector with more wires) so the charger can balance the cells properly. Sorry if this was already super obvious : ) It should take about 1 hour, depending on how many batteries you have plugged in. I highly recommend you get some more batteries since flight times are only around 3 minutes. These are the ones I use and they work great! amzn.to/3g1zToC

    Good video! I've had my Tinyhawk 2 for about 2 months now, and I'm loving it. You mentioned in the pro's that it is upgradable. What upgrades would you recommend? I'm thinking about the VTX, antenna, and camera. But I'm not sure what vtx boards fit on the TH2.

    • @colibrifpv
      @colibrifpv  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By upgradeable I was thinking more of the motors, since they left open plugs, and the ability to add an aftermarket receiver or solder on an xt30 to make it a true 2s quad. The VTX was actually upgraded in the V2 over the Tiny Hawk S, so now it does 200 milliwatts, so I'm not sure I would bother upgrading it. Also, the camera has already been upgraded, and is now the Runcam Nano 2, which is a great camera for a 75mm tiny whoop. The antenna might be worth it though, just make sure you get one that is super lightweight!

    Excellent overview of all the key steps.. understand it all .. but since I haven't actually flown it yet .. We'll see.. I gotta practice indoors then get used to using FPV goggles.. I'm curious about the "Buzzer" ... is there actually a lost drone mode in the TinyHawk II ?

    • @colibrifpv
      @colibrifpv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jim, yes there is a lost model alarm. You need to program an auxiliary switch in your radio, then enable the buzzer and assign it to that switch in Betaflight. My typical setup is 3 switches - arm, flight modes, and buzzer. It also helps to play on the simulator a bit first, then practice hovering where there isn't much wind in stable mode, then go for the goggles. For me adjusting to the goggles was tough!

    • @jimsnodgrass8454
      @jimsnodgrass8454 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@colibrifpv I'm making good progress with the setup tho when I trieIelected AETR1234 as an option and saved it..Prior to that it was defaulting to TARE on the channel mapping every time. The switches ( except for Buzzer which I will add in a bit now that I hear there is one on this little guy).. all toggle around properly but even tho as I toggled he SF arrows up/down to the opposite state . The quad Arms and disarms in the opposite mechanical switch state from what I want .. so I'll need to sort that out and fix it .. the controls all work tho and when I power up and disarm it while holding the little bugger down, I can see it's ready to rip, so I'm going to make a few more minor tweaks and give it a go flying.. One thing I wanted to ask, I feel a little vibration as the motors are spinning at low RPM,, is that normal? Thanks again..

    Hey, thanks for the review! I'm thinking about buying one but the flight times are kinda short :/. Do you think removing the LED strips would increase flight time?

    • @colibrifpv
      @colibrifpv  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! No, the LED strips are so tiny and don't really weigh anything so removing them would not improve flight times. You can use a slightly larger battery, but only slightly larger, as the extra weight will actually decrease flight times since it has to burn through more juice to stay in the air. The best solution is to use the recommended battery size and just buy a pile of them. # minutes doesn't sounds like a lot, but for this type of flight, it actually is...

    • @colibrifpv
      @colibrifpv  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there Julian, the Tiny Hawk 2 comes from the factory with Betaflight setup to detect the battery voltage and switch PID profiles accordingly, so you should be able to use 1s and 2s without changing anything... if in doubt, check which PID profile you are on in your goggles OSD after switching batteries. There shouldn't be any smoke since all the electronics are rated for 2s.

    • @colibrifpv
      @colibrifpv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Beta FPV makes a super cheap controller called the "Lite Radio 2" for $40 that would be perfect for whoops on frsky D8/D16, and if you want something a little better, the FRsky X-lite is a pretty good option that allows you to add a multi-protocole module if you ever need to. But if you already have the DJI system, just buy the cheap radio and spend your money on a "real" radio for your digital quads, like the DJI Radio or crossfire. Here's that cheap radio I eas talking about: betafpv.com/products/literadio-2-radio-transmitter

What could be the problem preventing me from binding this tinywhoop. I scrupulously respected the FRSKY_D instructions in BF in the configuation tab, use the CLI "bind_rx", "bind_rx_spi" but nothing helps, the blue led does not fix and despite my multiple attempts the bind does not succeed ... • @colibrifpv
      @colibrifpv  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, the manufacturers ship some drones "locked" because some radio frequencies/bands are not legal in some countries, so they leave it to the owners to verify compliance. If you are just getting started you can fly your Tiny Hawk without unlocking the VTX. However, if you want to take advantage of the 200mw that this vtx offers, you will need to unlock it. See that portion of the video, towards the end, for a more in-depth explanation. Good luck!

    • @colibrifpv

      Does your radio have a JR module bay? If so, then a multiprotocol module would definitely work, and it would be a great investment because it would support D8 for the Tiny Hawk 2, as well as most other popular protocols in case you end up with another drone in the future. Here's a good one made by jumper on Amazon amzn.to/2Su8eT4. If you are going to be in the hobby for a while you may even want to consider a new radio with a multiprotocol module built in, or an Frsky radio that you can easily add a module to. That radio would be great and would serve you well into the future. My advice is to start off with cheap drones, and maybe even a cheap radio, but spend the money on decent goggles. Those eachines you mentioned would be fine, but you might also consider some skyzones. You will upgrade your drone frequently as you crash and break it, and may even upgrade your radio as technology improves, but goggles tend to stick around a little longer...

    Love the video and love my TH2. Especially love it outside on 2S. When I get another one or another dedicated 1S I’m definitely soldering an XT30 on it. I need more power (and less voltage sag) to get out of acro maneuvers

    • @colibrifpv
      @colibrifpv  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a lot my friend, really appreciate it! So you like the 2s, eh? It is nice to have that extra throttle when you need and, and of course for rolls or tricks in acro its a whole different story. On 1s you have to do it so much slower but on 2s, its super quick! I soldered an xt30 onto my trashcan, but it totally needed it, flew like crap on 1s. It's a little nerve wreaking though, I've done plenty of soldering but I'm not expert. mostly large scale RC cars where things are much bigger, but on these micros, the connections are TINY! So far, most of the flying I've done on the TH2 has been indoors because of these stay at home orders, and for indoors, 1s is way easier.

      The RC Cave yah I’m dying to get a bigger quad so I can really rip it up outside. I’ve spent all my time in simulator and watching TH-cam 5” freestyle videos. So I’m craving that same kind of experience and the TH2 was my first and only so far. I do enjoy it on 1S in the house. I spent about an hour flying it around a makeshift course in my basement last night. But freestyle is definitely more appealing to me than racing.

      @@BlakeT87 I hear you! Your skills and experience are easily good enough to go for a 5". It's all about feeling comfortable. The way I did it was to move to toothpicks, and now I'm at a 3" (the Diatone R349 is friggin awesome if your looking for something in that category). For me it was also battery planning and flying spots, I had loads of small 2s and 3s batteries that fit the twig and larva X great, and since I live in a city even those tiny quads feel huge at my local parks! I'm still on xt30's and I have a pile of batteries, so when I do get a 5 inch, I'll probably spend more on batteries than the quad!

      Hi Rico, No, unfortunately there is no way to turn them off without just clipping the wires/unsoldering them from the motors since they are connected directly to the motor leads, not the board. Hey there Glen, sorry for not responding earlier. Yes, you can bind another TinyHawk, or just about any other drone, to that radio and use those goggles as long as you get on with an frsky receiver (I'm assuming your version of the kit was frsky). Just Google "how to bind frsky" and you should get some instructional videos, or feel free to ask me. Basically, you will need to download and install Betaflight, and easiest way will be to put the drone into binding mode via the CLI (command line) but it can also be done by pushing a tiny button while plugging in the battery. I know, the learning curve is tough when you get started in FPV, but it does get easier, and I have also had "fly away" incidents. Sucks, but everyone does it when they're learning!

    Soo I bought this package deal and it's super easy to get started. But I be crashing everywhere I can't keep it stable and fly smoothly like you in ur videos. • @colibrifpv
      @colibrifpv  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear you, when you first get started learning to fly can be sooooo hard! First, make sure you are in "angle" mode, which is also called self-levelling mode. Way easier to start with, and a lot of people fly in angle mode all the time indoors. Second, get yourself a simulator like Liftoff and practice acro mode before you use the actual quad. These things are pretty tough, but will break eventually, so much better to learn acro in a simulator first!

      Man, that can be frustrating! The first thing to do is to have a look at the VTX and RC antennas. Are they in decent shape? My rx antenna broke and the range went from 100 yards to fail safing at about 30 yards! For me the fix was to install an external rx, which was a bit of a pain because soldering this tiny wires/pads is difficult, and the extra weight is noticeable, but now the range is amazing and will go way beyond the vtx range, so I never failsafe. As for the VTX, did you set it to 200 mw? Remember it comes locked to 25 mw from the factory. Mine says that when I forget to turn the radio on, so it may be a binding issue. Is your radio bound, i.e., do you see the sticks move the levels in betaflight?

    Great whoop. Not great for the beginners as the Motors and led are solder on the board and it's very difficoult to dismount and mount it if you need to fix it. The previous Tinyhawks where done much better(they use to have connectors to dismount the FC)

      That's a great point, and trying to solder/desolder those TINY wires would take a pretty steady hand and some good soldering skills. Fortunately though, they left open plugs, so if one needed to replace/upgrade a motor, one could just snip the existing motor wires, plug in the new motor(s) and do a solderless repair job, though of course it would be much cleaner to desolder the existing leads.

    one of the few honest reviews lol
    but still sponsored right?

      Thanks for your feedback. I also get tired of biased reviews designed to just sell products. No, I am not sponsored, and I did not receive anything free. I bought this drone with my own hard earned cash, just like you do.

    For a quad to be rtf out of the box you sure made it seem complicated and confusing with all the if this and if that , in lost!!!

      I completely understand you, I felt the same way when I set up my first quad in Betalight! Check out his video on the Ready Set Drone channel, and I promise, it gets MUCH easier and more enjoyable after that initial learning curve... th-cam.com/video/Sz8pgZ6y5XA/w-d-xo.html

      @@colibrifpv thanks for getting back to me, that was extremely nice of you!
      After watching a few of your episodes on your channel I immediately subscribed, you have some awesome content!
      I’ve been just using the on screen display inside the goggles instead of customizing the switches. I didn’t realize that you don’t have to do all that if you’re using the emax goggles it came with.
      Thanks again!
