Who will speak up against his/her boss? While it is much easier to sometimes say that you should speak up against toxic work culture, those who are in the corporate world may agree that it is not easy. How many can say NO to their bosses? How many can say that I won't work on a Sunday when asked for an urgent deliverable? Secondly, even if someone dares to do that, whom will they complain to? Which HR has the power, or even intent, to take corrective actions against business leaders and seniors to address the issue of toxic work culture? Not only will this take systemic change in our work environments, but a HUGE CULTURAL CHANGE. expecting juniors to speak up just WON'T WORK.

A strict action should be taken on the leadership. Leadership should not only consider customers as partners but also the employees. HRs policies are only an escape route, HRs who are not properly trained or managers who are not properly trained on ethical values are responsible. Even the labour laws are too weak in India and come into action when these kind of situations arise.

The reason behind such toxicity is due to poor resource management. Big four auditing firms charge on hourly basis from their clients for deploying resources ranging from analyst to managers. However they deploy less number of resources for cost cutting which increases the stress.

Our younger generation living in India is becoming fiercely competitive. Women very specially. Sadly, the culture in our homes, blindly inculcates odious comparisons and misguided priorities viz. the salary package, the brand name/fame of the corporate employer..... These and many more are today the yardstick of success that parents takes pride in, when waxing eloquent about their young sons and daughters getting into this dog-eat-dog world of corporate life. Very little time is spent over a lifespan, where parents and children dialogue, talk openly, appreciate advice and criticism and are open to each other. To my mind, our young people need to be mentored FIRST AT HOME IN A SECURE LOVING CULTURE
I think it's more about making a law and claus that are monitored by the government so that like a taxi union? So that the employees have rights, because if you are a number you will be replaced by a younger person , and they know you are disposable,...it is also governments rule to make sure they are protected and employed. I mean in a start up you get fired in 2 months if you just say I don't want to stay back after my working hours. Sales jobs omg it is a source of stress if you can't sell the company product, the company will put the entire blame on you and ask you to stay back if you are in a sales team...you can't just treat that employee like that, he/she is working to build your brand...the upper management can't forget that.
Narayana Murthy, Chairman of Infosys, recently suggested that people in India should work 70 hours a week. The implications of this statement are already being felt, although it is unclear how many hours employees are currently being asked to work following his remarks. Before criticizing multinational corporations, it is crucial to hold our own leaders-such as chairmen and directors-accountable for fostering such work cultures. This issue spans across sectors, including private hospitals. There is an urgent need for regulations to prevent this from becoming the norm. Rather than advocating for a 70-hour workweek, why not propose a more balanced approach? For instance, introducing two shifts of 37.5 hours each could help employ more individuals, which is essential in a country like India where unemployment is rising. This approach would allow companies to maintain productivity without overburdening employees, while also giving workers more time for personal life and well-being.
Even in retail like Nexon Omniverse style union, .. They ask us to stretch till setting of floors .. I too Manage n forced to tke leaves..too much strees .. having knee severe pain till now am saved.. due to my rest. N God almighty saving with pray.. company will NEVER cares in now days..
The very fact that EY India Chairman Rajiv Memani offers delayed response and does not even bother to express sorrow and convey condolences to the family shows how inhuman and shameless he is, who can only be described as Disgrace to Humanity. It is also very clear that he may have threatened EY Employees not to attend Anna's funeral thats the reason no one from EY attended funeral. The Corporates in India as part of their Social and Community Service should ban EY and teach them a lesson so that in future the employees are not victimised.
Jitin Chawla : Not giving the right information across, he is not discussing using the ML to find out the Favorisom in the system. Caste discrimination is at its peaks in the private sector. There has to be a government audit for all private sectors operating in India. Employees should be allowed to raise court cases for wrong doing but main topics were not discussed.
It is happening in all sectors..not only in big fours and IT but all industries..... Required a drastic change in labour laws.....long work hours and targets and stress that no mistake is committed
There shall be strict measures to implement fixed hours of work per day in IT companies. Many IT companies are giving more than 10 to 12 hours of work per day.
Many MNCs that are in great competitive environment, have this toxic culture. Even many Indian companies have this. There are very few true Leaders in all companies. Most (95+%) are glorified Managers. When will Corporate employees ORGANIZE into Unions? That's the ONLY SOLUTION.
Also in my company if we get late by 2 min a late coming mail comes and three become a half day leave deduct....but if we go late by hours so they don't count....when raise this to HR they said it's company policies....so where now u will go...no one listens...if you try to fight so your name will become in industry bad...and further no one will consider you a good employee.....it's unfortunate....
It is in the culture of EY. My sister used to work in EY as an auditor. She worked from 8am to 1am. It is not country related, all branches of EY have cut throat jobs.
Indian Insurance & Pvt banking NBFC situation worst. Poor Salary starting 1.8 L p.a - 4 L pa.. Lots of young boy and girls working with monthly 15- 20 k salary with huge sales target. I think EY pay packages is much much higher. This is a very sad case a 26 years old young champ lost her life. Her parents should take care of her. Job is important and life also.
It's high time, the youth should. 1. Stop comparing yourself with others. 2. Understand materialistic showoffs like big car and big houses will only help financiers and won't bring happiness to you. 3. Don't chase after money, instead do what you love. 4. Don't work as if you are inevitable for the company. If you leave, the next one will take your seat. 5. Love yourself and enjoy being alone sometimes. 6. Be healthy. I took that hard call, resigned the 10x6 sales job which was taking a toll on my physical and mental health, to follow my passion. Yeah i am earning only 1/4th of what i am used to. But surprisingly, when you earn less, we will adapt to better living. No show-off, No comparison, No rat race. Just inner peace, calm, easy and healthy life.
I am writing to this News about incidence with me which EY did. I worked for two years with this firm. EY senior management asked me meet all project expenditure from my own pocket and keep taking reimbursement. EY assured that I should spend in the best interest of the project and company without any hesitation. EY assured that all expenses will be reimbursed. I kept on spending and reimbursement for project activities for the entire one year. However, as soon as one year of the project completed, EY asked me to return all the money which I was reimbursed entire the year which happens post approval process. EY threatened to jail and get career destroyed if I would not reimburse. They took entire money back by freezing my bank account and taking cheques. I am also on path to take now Suicide
Not practical solutions - Companies board of directors and CEOs must be held responsible, and must be prosecuted. And it should not be done as a reactive manner. Look at the example of France where even sending an email/message to employees after hours are audited and companies are punished.

Not only IT even banks have extremely work pressure of sales.
Atleast bank employees get holidays for famous personalityes death, birth dates
Even in retail like Nexon Omniverse style union, ..
They ask us to stretch till setting of floors ..
I too Manage n forced to tke leaves..too much strees .. having knee severe pain till now am saved.. due to my rest.
N God almighty saving with pray.. company will NEVER cares in now days..
Why the interview of employees is not taken? This interview is Just talk
No one will answer the elephant in the room, OVERPOPULATION. today we lost a genuine person because of it. 🙏 rip
It is not only EY my daughter has lot of work pressure in Nokia. This matter should be taken seriously.
Nobody can stop toxic work culture other then employees
We are sorry for aana
Feedback of employees in IT need to be taken throughout the country to remove their genuine issues.
What's theprime accused( boss's )name?
There shall be strict measures to implement fixed hours of work per day in IT companies. Many IT companies are giving more than 10 to 12 hours of work per day.
Even we can not take leave during holidays.
Mentor system exists in many compsnues as soon as you join. The mentor will be a slightly senior person middle mngmnt position who guides the fresher!
It is in the culture of EY. My sister used to work in EY as an auditor. She worked from 8am to 1am. It is not country related, all branches of EY have cut throat jobs.
I hope everyone paid their taxes
Sue this company
😡WHERE IS THAT INHUMAN PERSON NARAYANA MURTHY? WHY IS HIS MOUTH SHUT NOW???
What does the government doing to stop such situations? Most western governments took actions to balance work life .
Work culture and timings in US A is far better than our country
Sutta Break, Chai Break, Coffee Break, Share Mkt till 6 PM, start work after 6 till 12 and then take pride.
When somebody dies then only issues comes up.
This is will never happen in European and America EY
I work in Deccan fine chemicals Ankleshwar and it’s the same situation, everyone is involved in this crime !!!
Not practical solutions - Companies board of directors and CEOs must be held responsible, and must be prosecuted. And it should not be done as a reactive manner. Look at the example of France where even sending an email/message to employees after hours are audited and companies are punished.
Even in TCS BPO the management has become corrupt and abusive, they want employees to leave the company if they don't follow their extra working hours schedule
So much hype about other incidents, but nothing about this one
Toxicity is present even when the MBBS doctors doing their PG. They are also harrased. Not a single day off for them.NMC has to do something about it. Very saddening to see this youngsters dying like this.
Accenture, tcs, capgemini, infosys ask their employees to work 12 hours with manipulation that it can be seen as 9.5 hrs. 1 hr break, 1 hr travel etc. Comment if there are other firms which we should know doing these ethical thefts in working hours.
Wipro!,
Tech Mahindra!,
😢😢
Pehle narayab murti ko bhi pakdo, jo 12 hours working ka gyan deta hai. Larsen tubro ke past chairman ko bhi poocho, jo 12 baje office chorne ko proudly flaunt karte hai.
Agay ye devi married hoti to sasuraal walo par gaaj girti par these corporate are absolutely safe
Prioritise family life over unachievable targets of the company. Just put papers out there if the work life is pathetic. Save your physical and mental health.
This is what when manuvaadis due to social capital sit at the top. Their forefathers never knew hard work, they only made the lower castes work for them. This is also the entitled mindset that made a IT Honcho said employees should work 70 hours a week. If only lower castes are given equal opportunity at the top, India would have been a developed country long back.
Bar kar Bhai idhar casteism mat faila koi faayda nahi...manu wadi😂 , sc ,st , obc kuch nahi only hindu
@@shivang8195 are you afraid or guilty that the world will know the truth?.let the govt release caste census, then we will know who has occupied the top positions. Next time reply in English so that more people will understand
Does we here have a govt. Yes, we have them for collecting corporate labour tax from all employees individually. They are allowing exploiting people in work hours and renumeration.
If you are in private company: work, work, work. Exploitation like Industrial Revolution. 😢😢😢
01) media will earn by TRP
02) Government will earn by..probably😅😅..high election fund..May be
03) EY s PR agency will earn by "Crisis management"
This is going on since decades ..open secret
Indian industrialists are earning more profits without work ethics Unfortunately our government also supporting to corporates only instead of public concern and Labour laws,
Indian family culture devastating by corporates and Toxic work culture
Ye dekh narayan Murthy
Must read a book called TECH JUNGLE by Mani which exposes corporate culture and gives you tips on how to protect yourself from Stress, Office Politics, and Your Health in the Corporate World.
Hey more salary more pressure it is work culture...
If you want less salary and less pressure join house keeping job or start your own business
Do not blame any MNC company 🎉
Why media and other medium only looking at ey. It's happening everywhere why not find solutions in it, it's so pathetic people in power functioning like that. It really s_cks that why moving out of India is an considerable choice atleast there are POLCIES for well-being of the working class people's.
Should check with racist angle. Some racist manager gives a lot of stress workload to some people whom they don’t like due to their racist mindset
How can EY employees attend funeral?
They don't have time even for a nap.
If this had happened is US or Other European Countries then what.....
HR works for business profit rather than employees well being
CA’s are dying having greater packages great respect sharp minds everything and in just 4 momth?
Then comes we IT employee who worked their shit off for 12 hours work even during diwali all holidays which these CA would get we don’t get and we are underpaid barely makimg 15-20k in initial years, go through depression, abuse by clients, disrespect from society and home and still story goes for this CA girl getting a natural death not even suicide is burning up.
