This is exactly the way I have spent the last three weeks on my new GSA, and I've watched all your (GSA related) video's. More than once. :-) Thank you for another beautiful upload, and I'm waiting for the next one... Most kind regards form The Netherlands!
Baron Schmatz I've had tons of fun! Four weeks and 5.000 kilometers of fun :-) I have video's of dash cams mostly on my channel, these do seldomly show the bike itself. There is more than one bike in my 'collection' and I usually mention which one it was in the tags, I think.
Hi Baron, picked my new GSA up last weekend and absolutely love it, not using the quick shift much at moment till it's done 600 miles and had it's 1st service but it does look a lot of fun. My stock exhaust doesn't sound like yours, it's much quieter, have just traded in my 2013 GS and am thinking whether to put my Yoshimura exhaust from that onto it, should sound a bit fruitier.Got back from touring the Pyrenees on the GS and 3 days later picked up the GSA, weathers starting to turn now so will be a long depressing winter waiting any kind of touring, planning on Croatia next year, what part of Germany are you in?, I was a long distance lorry driver for 15 years and know your beautiful country quite wellKeep up the great vidsDanny
Hey quite a long time.. This early model you have to take away throttle while downshifting, and stay on throttle if you wish upshifting. Maybe its now different in newer models .. dont know.. Ride safe!
Hey Baron, nice video! I'm just waiting for the winter to pass to get me either a GS or a KTM super adventure. Do you have any opinion about the last? Also, which helmet are you using? I wonder if these adventure helmets like Arai Tour X4 aren't too noisy. By the way, I read you're from Rheinland Pfalz. Which city?
Do you guys foresee any long-term problems related to shift assist pro? I'm thinking it could possibly shorten the duration of the clutch/transmission? I'm not certain though, I'm no motorcycle mechanic and don't know internally how shift assist pro even works.
Hi Baron, love your bike! Im actually getting myself an Olive matt 2015 as well, and i´m very exited about this. For this video, did you use the stock exhaust? It would be great if you upload a video doing 0-100km/h with the shift assistant, I bet its way better than using the clutch. Regards from Mexico City!
Baron Schmatz Yes indeed my friend, shift assistant, keyless ignition, led, aux lights..... as they say here in Mexico "the whole enchilada.." Your bike sounds great with the stock exhaust, I was thinking of getting the Akrapovic later on. Thanks bro, drive safe!
how you use it? is it working like a scooter? for the first gear are you using the clutch? if you stop the bike what happened using the gsap? thank you
***** I think I have read the answer to this in other video's comments but I cannot find it again. I have this question too: what cam, and what external microphone. Maybe do a video about your setup? Because of all the R1200GS movies ... your videos have the BEST sound, and good video quality too of course. But the sound stands out miles above any other R1200GS video. So the request is a audio/video-setup movie :-) Thanks again for your great uploads, Baron Schmatz!
Hallo, wie weit kommst Du denn mit eineer Tankfüllung bzw wie viel tankst Du immer nach? Hast Du nur die abgedunkelte Scheibe oder ist sie auch höher? P.s. schöne Landschaft UND geiles Wetter!
All the idiots out there reviewing shift assist never think of telling you how its used. Please be different and describe how its used. Is it just basically cliking the gears with your foot as usual but without squeezing the clutch? is that it?

This is the sound, this is the bike. I hope you that still enjoy it.
2:25 was dangerous. The car could have taken its chance to turn whilst not expecting you to overtake.
+Baron Schmatz By this answer you just qualified as a really good rider ;)
A valid point, but was the car in the side road blocked by the cyclists? Still probably not the smartest overtake.
Yup, it was. Maybe the lucky point actually saving him.
Funny I bailed on this at that exact moment because that was a piss poor decision.
Nice view and road condition.
Is this the original exhaust?? Sounds great!

How does the system react if you actually use the clutch for shifting? Is the ignition interrupted anyway? Does it still blip the throttle?
i want that for my k16....that sounds nice.
is there a special reason you used a clutch when you entered the village at 2:08 or not?
Hi. Does it throw flames while shifting. And does it do any problems afterwards with the maintenance or the gear box. Thanks
Did you blip the throtle when down shift and up ? Or the engine management did it for you? Thanks...

In regard to clutch life, shift assist will actually prolong significantly clutch life since clutch is not actuated at all during shift.
+kosta16auto that makes sense. I will have to learn to use mine - still find it a little tricky.
A mechanic from BMW told me there's no additional wear from the shift assistant. I would have no worries using it.
Sounds good
it sounds good i have a 2013 GSWC and the exhaust sounds nothing like your.. thanks

Omg😍😍😍😍😍
common wake up when do you upshift at any revs or ?
What camera are you using? There is hardly any wind noise. Kindly let me know. Thanks!
Thanks!
Did you ever compare it to the BMW 1000XR? and if so what are your toughts?
Great video. Your GSA sounds superb!. What cam did you you use?

ClaudeSac Agree
Baron Schmatz Maybe in the future I will check out a GoPro too, the ability to use an external microphone really does add a lot!
have you had any issue with the shift assistant.
hello wich kamera du you have???
very informative if the captions stayed up more than a second

Q
So what happens if you abuse it as a kickdown feature and downshift while at full throttle?
+Baron Schmatz I have a GSR and a wife! No room for a GS.
+Bigalinjapan you can t down shift with full throttle. Only when you close the gas. As Baron says.
Sounds like dsg
It sounds much rougher and louder than the 1250
Show
What is up with the sound of this bike? The KTM 1290 sounds like a beast, this sounds like my weed eater! I do love the quick shifter however!
+Baron Schmatz no I don't mean the volume
+tacjam1 This is because it's a boxer motor whereas the KTM is a V-Twin. Boxers sound like weed wackers and V-Twins sound ferocious!

@@BaronSchmatz777 so you still shift with your foot.
@@BaronSchmatz777 thanks.
What type of setting do you use? Road or dyna?
