@@mainetroutwhisperer thanks.. I use a thin wire trace due to all the pike in our canals and rivers, it has a clasp on the end but the clasp is straight onto the wire. I'm guessing I'd still be best with a swivel.. do you post abroad? If so post a link ill take a look. Thanks for reply also 👍
Thanks a lot for posting this for newbies like me. A buddy of mine just got me interested in fishing, but I'm still learning/researching on everything to knots, to baits and lures.
You need to try Daiwa JX8 braid, it's the best braid out there! I've fished them all and nothing beats it!. G Loomis NRX rod and Shimano Stella reel gets it done for me.
Good stuff! I just ordered some spinners/spoons from your site and I look forward to trying them out. I'm an avid bass fisherman and I'm new to trout fishing but I'm a lot of fun.
Great video should have shown your spinners rather those ones you displayed. I have been using Fly Snaps in place of regular snaps and found they work even better than the conventional kind. They work fine on minnow baits and jigs too. The regular ones are inexpensive and you can get 50 on E-Bay for next to nothing. There are higher priced ones labeled Traun River micro snaps they are quite pricey. The other thing I found is using RIO Wire Bite tippet if you have issues with pike this works well for me. You tie it on pretty much like mono without the need for crimp sleeves or swivels. You might already know about using them but maybe not. Even little pike and pickerel can cut your valuable lures off.
Very well said. I build my own spinners because I don’t like what’s out there today for product, cheaply made. I put glow beads on some of my spinners for the darker Waters you tend to find in Maine and they work really good. I also make some spinners with a drop chain and hook with glow resin on the hook works well with slow day fishing. Great video
Awesome video bro.... Spin fishing is as much of a skilled way of fishing as any other method like reading the water, colors, winding in your real, etc. This video showed that. Thanks
After trial and error I found the smallest spinners work best (my meps aglia ebrite), mostly in pink with a salmon egg on the treble. I dont know why but every species of fish in my waters all go nuts for it small to large and I never target a specific size but that spinner has been my most effective lure ever
Well, I've caught trout, small mouth, largemouth, walleye, northern pike, musky, perch and other panfish, all on various type and sizes of inline spinners.
The LB test doesn’t really effect how sensitive it is. I always say use as heavy line as you can get away with. Braid is just much smaller diameter than mono for the same lb test. You should be fine with that
Good video and good tips. I just subscribed. Always nice to converse with a fellow avid Trout Angler. I guide in WVa, VA, and NC. Wonderful year round action in all three states. The year round part gives us the edge over most northern states but I've fished Maine and upstate NY and most of Canada. Loved it up there too. No spinner box is complete without multiple sizes and patterns of Joe's Flies. Like I said, I've guided for over 25 years and no spinner on the market comes close. Get you some Brown Hackle and Black Wooly Worm patterns in 1/8 and 1/4 oz sizes. You can cut off extra treble if you desire. When you get them let me know. I'm willing to bet they become your go to. Good luck and enjoy.
I use the 7 footer! I love it. I can’t remember the exact length of it. But I just got it! Love it so far! Very first rainbow weighed 4lbs! It sure was fun to reel her in with my new St. Croix! Too bad though, I didn’t catch many that day. But at least I caught a big one! Happy fishing to you!
that was my 1st pole back in 2008, I still use it and it's my Only pole, my reel is only a $40 flueger from that year too, I just got back into fishing this year due to a friend who has access to 8 private lakes about and hour and a half away we've been 6 times this year but he goes every week sometimes 4 times a week
Great videos! I just ordered some lures from your website and can't wait to try them out. Quick question - what do you recommend for an Ultra Light rod around $50? I need to buy two rods for me and my son both, so I can't go too expensive. Also, should the rod be fast action? We are primarily fishing a lake with stocked trout -- it's only 3 minutes from my house.
I use 1/2 ounce spoons orange painted black, then for "spinners" I've got a lot of 1/16 1/8 Panther Martins (don't like it that light can't cast very far), 1/2 ounce Mad Bites (too large shouldn't have bought that size), 1/2 ounce crankbait (too large but casts far), and I'm in the process of being shipped (3/8 and 1/4 Blue Fox spinners) and 1/4 Tazmanian devils (I had the 1/2 ounces but lost both to snags but the fish followed and bit but didn't commit a few times more than any other lure), and a rooster tail (1/4 ounce) on the way. My buds both Friday and Saturday night were bringing in over 50 pounds of carp and catfish with meat and corn etc etc concoction, but I don't like that fish. I caught only a crappie and a trout both nights. I tell them I only like to cast. They were proud of themselves though and were full of action all night and slippin and fallin in the water, smokin dope etc. I helped shining my headlight on them when needed. I mean, I wasn't catching anything with all my lures in the dark.
@@mainetroutwhisperer okay sweet. What kind of hook do you prefer? I just got into fishing this summer dont know a crazy amount, but I want to try this out.
Yup, I smear some Power Bait on my spinner and usually get 5x more bites!! The key is to make sure you don't put it on in a way that disrupts the action (i.e., don't put a big clump near the spinner blade so it can't spin). Usually just pinch a little bit onto the hook, or if your spinner has a dressing, just smear some onto that.
Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.
Makes me giggle all this EXPENSE with POSH LURES. MY OLD MAN NOW PASTED AWAY FISHED WITH SILVER CHOCOLATE PAPER WRAPPED AROUND A HOOK. AND CAUGHT, TROUT AND SALMON ALL HIS LIFE. AND IM 65 AND STILL CATCHING THE SAME WAY AS HE DID 🤔.
why are these setups so techincal does it really makea difference if u have a 2nd line that goes around through with the line for... what ? 1 line works just fine
10 lbs braid is more sensitive so you get more feedback in the reel and rod but it’s prone to fraying. Putting a leader line on the end of your braid protects it from the harsh environment of rocks, rubble, branches etc.
@@mainetroutwhisperer - the micro TA clips are the size we use in freshwater. Ideal for quick lure changes, they do not bend or break. We use the 50lb size when throwing plugs and twitch baits into the surf for blues, Spanish, and specks. If you are incorporating swivels into your spinners this is the same concept but with the ability to quickly change your presentation.
not only single hooks, pinch those barbs down. unless you're starving and fishing purely for food, why injure the fish any more than necessary. here in BC it's the law, single barbless only and i don't know why it's not the case everywhere. barbs cause lots of injury, but nothing compared to trebles. trebles are barbaric.

When I was his age they were 50 cents.
