It's wacky to consider that humans have the same level of discomfort at times in their life. I'm not 100% about others, but being teenager SUUUUUUUUCKED for me. From about 13 to 27 (*hyperbole... but it seemed that long), I couldn't even THINK straight... laying in bed at night pissed off all night or no reason. Hormones suck. I remember when I was young, finally breaking down and talking to my mom about it just crying and she said, "Girls go through the same thing..." I said, "There's ZERO way that girls go through this level of discomfort." She said, "Well, it might not be AS bad." lol

Whenever I read people trying to justify not spaying ot neutering their cats with "it's not natural" or "they're not spayed in the wild" I feel like they have forgotten that the typical house cat, no matter what breed, is not a wild animal. Wild cats exist yeah but house cats, even street cats, aren't in any way wild. So we're responsible to keep them healthy and make sure they don't breed since kittens still end up being killed because people don't know what to do with them.

There may be street cats that may have been recently strays- or not even strays at all and may just be someone's naked outdoor cat. But you're completely ignoring the fact that cats have the highest rate of feralization due to their fairly recent "domestication". I agree that we should spay and neuter our pets we do not intend to breed or keep entirely indoors, but it's completely ignorant to say cats are an entirely domesticated species when they're not. You literally have not come into contact with feral cats before and it shows because someone who has seen what a feral cat is like knows that they're only around us when they want to be-- unlike a more domesticated animal, the dog, which has been demonstrated to have more human reliance than pack reliance to demonstrate the degree of their domestication. "Aren't in any way wild" I highly encourage you to go work in a shelter and deal with enough feral cats so you understand how completely ignorant you sound. You can't reacclimatize a feral cat to human presence because it has effectively gone back to a pre-contact, wild state and won't come back as an individual.

I live in a fairly small village and we don't have a lot of feral or even stray cats around. For those who say it's not natural to spay a cat or dog should realise that it's not natural to keep a dog or cat housebound either. Letting them out is dangerous but Forcing it to stay indoors so it's not able to satisfy its natural instincts is also cruel . Either free the poor thing so it can do its natural thing but then you have the risk of getting it run over, lost, injured , infected or stolen or spay it as well as that you will definitely end up with a litter that needs caring for. If you spay the animal atleast it will be happy indoors and it's what the humans want too. So just spay the poor thing and put it out of danger and misery.
Naturally cats belong outside. They live in forest or in desert, naturally they can have sex when they are in heat, but then human take them as pet and they cant do that anymore, but they still have hormon in their body so it is torture for them. We had a rescue barn cat, a beautiful calico. She was born on a farm and we took her in when she was a kitten but she never was happy staying indoors. She'd go outside to do her business like a dog does, she disliked litter boxes but would use them in the winter. She preferred to drink from puddles, catch (and eat) bugs, and stare at the moon every night. Although she spent most of her time indoors, her outdoor life was very satisfying for her until... stupid neighbor let their dog loose. Our beautiful little kitty is no longer with us because of that dog. So, cruel or not, the cat we have now will never go outside. In an urban setting with bad people around who can't control their stupid dogs, cat's not going out.

For all of you telling this person to GET HER FIXED, im sure she will be, but sometimes you cannot control the timing as many vets are backed up with surgeries and they usually have to have a full exam b4 that too. I have a stray who just had babies and im dying to get her fixed, but if she is nursing, it will dry up her milk, so you are not allowed for the babies's sakes...until after weened. im really hoping mama doesn't go back in heat during her nursing. Only 1 week in and im stressed to the max just by worrying about her and babies. If she goes in heat, ill be ripping my hair out.... I also have my fixed 11 yr old male in house...so.... EDIT: Correction, it wont dry up her milk. I don't want to put out wrong information. Thanks for the correction. A couple ladies who claimed to know about cats told me the info...or maybe i just misunderstod...at first i had no idea what i was doing. It CAN, though, make it difficult for her to nurse until she is healed from the surgery. Since my baby mama (Maggie) is staying indoors I wont be spaying her until after. Also, many vets (2 that i have called and my local spca) will not do it until after lactation. PS I watched alot of kitten lady and she is an awesome feline caregiver.

Its my first time having a cat, and I didn't even plan it. One day, a cat I have been feeding, brought three kittens with her. Now I have 4 freeloaders at home. I'm not in a good financial situation so I couldn't get them spayed and neutered, I barely have enough to feed them to be honest but me and my mom are making it work. I have my 9 month old female cat scheduled for spaying on January 2025. So I'm just hanging on till then.
My 4 year old Cali had 2 fairly normal heat cycles but never suffered like this girl! I was dreading the first cycle, since I know all too well what can happen, such as the presence of tom cats fighting, spraying and the stares from neighbors. Besides, cats are not allowed where I live, and I was not thrilled about having to keep her inside! She was spayed with no complications and wouldn't you know, 1 week after her spay I look out my bedroom window and there are 3 ( think the 3 Stooges lol ) toms, staring at Cali and then each other but not fighting! This is the calmest cat I've seen in heat. All three of my cats got into heat before we could spay them and it was hell, to put it lightly. No worries, all three are spayed now.

My kitty is going through her first heat (day 3 now) and honestly, it feels like she’s possessed. Her caterwauling is so loud, its spooking us all out.. She doesn’t care about food or play time anymore and its like she’s a whole different cat. At one point i thought she was coming on to me 🤣 i was like this is getting weird now.. waiting for it to be over so we can get the baby spayed and bring back her old self. 🙏 UPDATE: I’m not gonna beat around the bush. After I posted this comment, My cat ran away for a couple of days and found herself a boyfriend. 😂 there was nothing we could do about it after that. She got pregnant soon enough and at first we couldn’t even tell because she was having just 1 kitten (runs in her family that the females have only 1 or 2 kittens at a time). We found out the day she went into labour lol. So, she gave birth and then for two months all was well. Then, She went into heat and it was the worst heat I have seen her in. It practically lasted a month and it was terrifying for the baby as well because mom was so distressed. We took her to the vet and explained and got her spayed the next day. The vet said she was still in heat because her organs were engorged when the procedure was performed but, thankfully, there were no complications. It was over in less than an hour. However, she was still caterwauling (not as bad as before) for another month and we found out it was because of the residual hormones. Other than that, the surgery was uneventful, she healed pretty quickly, in fact she was jumping around the house less than 24 hrs after surgery. Of course, I am aware it may not be the case with every cat. I am just talking about our experience with spaying. The only downside of it, that I have noticed so far, is that the boyfriend hasn’t been seen around ever since and he was her first love. 😟

I didn't know this cause we always spayed our cats at kittens. Then once I got an adult cat from someone. When she went into heat she was yowling at the top of her lungs for 2 weeks straight, nonstop, we didn't get any sleep. Was freaked out that she was dying til she did that thing where she was low on the ground with her butt up constantly, looked like she was twerking. The vet says they can't spay while they're in heat. So you have to wait and set up an appointment. Every time, she'd go into heat at the time of her appointment for like 2 weeks like every month, never got any sleep. And if you hear that, well when all the tom cats around the neighborhood hear and smell that, they surround your place yowling nonstop.
Such an adorable little baby! All 5 of my cats are on heat. The 4 males are already neutered. ( I couldn't spray the females, as the appointment keeps getting cancelled. ) We keep the boys outside just so the girls won't annoy them. They've been doing this for a week now!
try to get the females spayed at some point. they can develop ovarian or uterine cancer, develop mammary cancer, or end up with a uterine infection known as pyometra, which is extremely dangerous. it’s good that the males are all neutered already though!

Even though they have collars on with my number, people can be so horrible and lock them up inside their homes.

My cat's 1st heat was a nightmare. I ended up locking her up in the back of my truck (it has a canopy covering the back) away from my house so she can shout in peace without me chasing her around inside the house. Later I saw a swarm of tom cats outside around the truck fighting each other for the honor of having her but that obviously never happened . She was spayed soon after... . . She is 14 years old now and is the most dignified lady like cat I have ever seen.

Good that she's spayed now. Now she can be healthy and not worry anymore 😊💕. We have an orange female tabby who we didnt spay for some reason till she was 8 yrs old. I was sad that we waited so long to get her spayed, especially since she was at risk of not even surviving 😭. But thankfully she pulled through and is so much better now 💕.

Anyway it’s better to neuter them cus it prevents them from getting stressed
Luckily, she got spayed after this. She couldn't before because of not being in good enough health for it but eventually got spayed.

For those who say it's not natural to spay a cat or dog should realise that it's not natural to keep a dog or cat housebound either. Letting them out is dangerous but Forcing it to stay indoors so it's not able to satisfy its natural instincts is also cruel . Either free the poor thing so it can do its natural thing but then you have the risk of getting it run over, lost, injured , infected or stolen or spay it as well as that you will definitely end up with a litter that needs caring for. If you spay the animal atleast it will be happy indoors and it's what the humans want too. So just spay the poor thing and put it out of danger and misery.

They live in forest or in desert, naturally they can have sex when they are in heat, but then human take them as pet and they cant do that anymore, but they still have hormon in their body so it is torture for them. We had a rescue barn cat, a beautiful calico. She was born on a farm and we took her in when she was a kitten but she never was happy staying indoors. She'd go outside to do her business like a dog does, she disliked litter boxes but would use them in the winter. She preferred to drink from puddles, catch (and eat) bugs, and stare at the moon every night. Although she spent most of her time indoors, her outdoor life was very satisfying for her until... stupid neighbor let their dog loose. Our beautiful little kitty is no longer with us because of that dog.
So, cruel or not, the cat we have now will never go outside. In an urban setting with bad people around who can't control their stupid dogs, cat's not going out.

For all of you telling this person to GET HER FIXED, im sure she will be, but sometimes you cannot control the timing as many vets are backed up with surgeries and they usually have to have a full exam b4 that too. I have a stray who just had babies and im dying to get her fixed, but if she is nursing, it will dry up her milk, so you are not allowed for the babies's sakes...until after weened. im really hoping mama doesn't go back in heat during her nursing. Only 1 week in and im stressed to the max just by worrying about her and babies. If she goes in heat, ill be ripping my hair out....

It CAN, though, make it difficult for her to nurse until she is healed from the surgery. Since my baby mama (Maggie) is staying indoors I wont be spaying her until after. Also, many vets (2 that i have called and my local spca) will not do it until after lactation.

You can have your cats spayed while they're nursing. It doesn't dry up the milk. Try watching some Kitten Lady videos to educate yourself.

My 4 year old Cali had 2 fairly normal heat cycles but never suffered like this girl! I was dreading the first cycle, since I know all too well what can happen, such as the presence of tom cats fighting, spraying and the stares from neighbors. Besides, cats are not allowed where I live, and I was not thrilled about having to keep her inside! She was spayed with no complications and wouldn't you know, 1 week after her spay I look out my bedroom window and there are 3 ( think the 3 Stooges lol ) toms, staring at Cali and then each other but not fighting! They all looked love sick, thank heavens for spay surgery. Gorgeous cat!

My kitty is going through her first heat (day 3 now) and honestly, it feels like she’s possessed. Her caterwauling is so loud, its spooking us all out..
She doesn’t care about food or play time anymore and its like she’s a whole different cat. At one point i thought she was coming on to me 🤣 i was like this is getting weird now.. waiting for it to be over so we can get the baby spayed and bring back her old self. 🙏
UPDATE:
I’m not gonna beat around the bush. After I posted this comment, My cat ran away for a couple of days and found herself a boyfriend. 😂 there was nothing we could do about it after that.
She got pregnant soon enough and at first we couldn’t even tell because she was having just 1 kitten (runs in her family that the females have only 1 or 2 kittens at a time). We found out the day she went into labour lol. So, she gave birth and then for two months all was well. Then, She went into heat and it was the worst heat I have seen her in. It practically lasted a month and it was terrifying for the baby as well because mom was so distressed. We took her to the vet and explained and got her spayed the next day. The vet said she was still in heat because her organs were engorged when the procedure was performed but, thankfully, there were no complications. It was over in less than an hour. However, she was still caterwauling (not as bad as before) for another month and we found out it was because of the residual hormones. Other than that, the surgery was uneventful, she healed pretty quickly, in fact she was jumping around the house less than 24 hrs after surgery. Of course, I am aware it may not be the case with every cat. I am just talking about our experience with spaying.
The only downside of it, that I have noticed so far, is that the boyfriend hasn’t been seen around ever since and he was her first love. 😟

when we rescued our cats 2 months ago, they were both pregnant. and the vet said after they gave birth they did not recommend getting them spayed because of their age. sometimes there is nothing you can do other than to make your cat feel comfortable during this period. our cat personally loves her lower back by her tail scratched when she’s in heat, and it causes her to relax for a couple of hours.

I didn't know this cause we always spayed our cats at kittens. Then once I got an adult cat from someone. When she went into heat she was yowling at the top of her lungs for 2 weeks straight, nonstop, we didn't get any sleep. Was freaked out that she was dying til she did that thing where she was low on the ground with her butt up constantly, looked like she was twerking. The vet says they can't spay while they're in heat. So you have to wait and set up an appointment. Every time, she'd go into heat at the time of her appointment for like 2 weeks like every month, never got any sleep. And if you hear that, well when all the tom cats around the neighborhood hear and smell that, they surround your place yowling nonstop.

My cat's 1st heat was a nightmare. I ended up locking her up in the back of my truck (it has a canopy covering the back) away from my house so she can shout in peace without me chasing her around inside the house. Later I saw a swarm of tom cats outside around the truck fighting each other for the honor of having her but that obviously never happened . She was spayed soon after... . . She is 14 years old now and is the most dignified lady like cat I have ever seen.

We have an orange female tabby who we didnt spay for some reason till she was 8 yrs old. I was sad that we waited so long to get her spayed, especially since she was at risk of not even surviving 😭. But thankfully she pulled through and is so much better now 💕.

It’s uncomfortable for the cat cause all they want is to mate with someone, my cat has done this and I’ve let her do her own thing cause she really wanted some babies, the babies are now 2 moths old and honestly, If you ever have a cat i suggest you let them go so they won’t feel sad

@@wtv.no1 the thing is though, if the cat doesn't come back the cat will go feral and have kittens out in the wild and the cat population will just skyrocket. spay and neuter your pets no matter what. i know you don't want them to feel bad, surgery sucks but after they're not uncomfortable like that anymore and they'll live longer too.
