I don't understand how humans can abandon an animal, especially when its older and only knows a loving home. This rips my heart to shreads when seeing the deep hopeless heartbroken depression in the cat's eyes.
I think sometimes when it comes to the elderly, family doesn't always know there is a pet, especially cats who may run and hide from strangers (though you think they would see signs of feeding). I live in a senior community and this happens all the time. Luckily, one kind neighbor has taken to feeding and welcoming them. I have 2 dogs and a cat of my own, so supply her with food for this mercy mission.
The children of the former owner who passed away should know that the cat is old too just like their father who is gone. What a brainless stupid bastard the children of the former death owner of this cat. That is the reason this cat is growling so hard. Thinks that all people are heartless jerks like the children of the guy. Does not trust anybody except the dead owner BUT the time will come it will regain its trust. Animals are very resilient beings compared to people!!!

Same thing happened to my cat when the owner died. The family kicked him to the curb. Heartless, crewel. A five minute drive to a shelter was just too much to ask.
I call them old Aunt Ida's old cat. That no one wants or takes in and finds a home for them. They frequently are dropped off some where away from home. Here they dump them on the bike path. I have cats and have cat food on my porches. So they found me. The first 3 years I had 52 cats go through my house off to rescues. Who found them good homes.
People can be jerks. We have cats (many) but my elderly father has dogs( large fogs). If something happens to him we will figure it out but those dogs aren’t going anywhere. They are everything to him.

Когда хозяйка через месяц вернулась домой ( к счастью,поправившаяся),она узнала,что её кота взяли в соседний продовольственный магазин.Хозяйка пыталась его вернуть,НО кот отказался возвращаться домой: приходил только поесть и упорно возвращался в магазин.Так и остался там на ПМЖ. Это мне рассказала его хозяйка. Кошки такие, обид не прощают.
We all should know that the animals have a soul! To feed their physical bodies is not enough. People should never see them as like an object. They are entities with loving hearts and naturally they come in this world with trusting us. To disappoint them is a sin. I am happy to watch that the lady did not give up, Pom Pom is a wonderful strong cat.

When they suddenly become abandoned like that, they can become hostile and aggressive as they don't understand what has happened, they just know that they have been left alone by someone they thought was like a parent to them. The cat clearly loved it's owner and was devastated by being abandoned. There are instances in which owners will leave for long periods of time, sometimes years, and come back to the cat and the cat will hate them.
The owner didn’t abandon him, his family did after owner passed away. Can you imagine being tossed outside after having a lovely life for ten years? I’m glad she took him in. You can’t force the progress with trying to interact too soon. My Bella was abandoned and lived outside for two years. When she was finally rescued it took 3 months for her to feel secure. It took two years for her to jump up on the couch to ask for pets! It has to bee in their own time.
Same thing happened to the cat I got from a shelter. Owner died and family threw him out. For me he's the perfect cat. Loving, respectful, well mannered and beautiful. My best friend.

The support you give has to be reactive, and shape itself to the mourners needs, which can shift from hour to hour and seem quite contradictory. This cat communicated clearly what he was going through in his broken heart, even though his feelings seemed contradictory. The woman worked with him and let him lead, beautifully and selflessly. You can't do better than that.

It was heartbreaking to see this lost sole grieve for his deceased owner. 😢 Poor baby couldn't understand why his human father was no longer there for him😢 Thanks for the lady's patience and understanding what he was going through he finally accepted her. My only advice would be not poking his belly when she trying to make him play. He was not ready for that but he finally accepted her and I wish him a long loving life with her and the rest of the cat family ❤️ 💕

This woman has immense patience and in this case it was much needed. The cat was so determined to be loyal to the former owner it severely rebuffed any attempts to befriend it. In time the former owner's image began to recede and the value of this gentle woman began to emerge in his mind. Slowly the present crystallized into something warm and meaningful. The heart heals at its own pace.
This video does clearly show the emotional harm and confusion that we do to cats when they learn to love and trust us, and then we later abandon them.These are beautiful, trusting and loving little souls. They feel hurt and emotional pain, not to mention some of the awful physical scars that we sometimes inflict on them. This means that unless we are commited to their care we should avoid adopting them and donate instead to the numerous organisations that care for them. I am happy to watch that the lady did not give up, Pom Pom is a wonderful strong cat.

Not necessarily. Despite common belief, cats grow attachments to their companions. When they suddenly become abandoned like that, they can become hostile and aggressive as they don't understand what has happened, they just know that they have been left alone by someone they thought was like a parent to them. The cat clearly loved it's owner and was devastated by being abandoned. There are instances in which owners will leave for long periods of time, sometimes years, and come back to the cat and the cat will hate them.

Being an animal activist and rescuer the cat doesnt show any signs of abuse but tiredness due to age and malnutrition.its hesitant towards new people.
The owner didn’t abandon him, his family did after owner passed away. Can you imagine being tossed outside after having a lovely life for ten years? I’m glad she took him in. You can’t force the progress with trying to interact too soon. My Bella was abandoned and lived outside for two years. When she was finally rescued it took 3 months for her to feel secure. It took two years for her to jump up on the couch to ask for pets! It has to bee in their own time.
Same thing happened to the cat I got from a shelter. Owner died and family threw him out. For me he's the perfect cat. Loving, respectful, well mannered and beautiful. My best friend.

The support you give has to be reactive, and shape itself to the mourners needs, which can shift from hour to hour and seem quite contradictory. This cat communicated clearly what he was going through in his broken heart, even though his feelings seemed contradictory. The woman worked with him and let him lead, beautifully and selflessly. You can't do better than that.

It was heartbreaking to see this lost sole grieve for his deceased owner. 😢 Poor baby couldn't understand why his human father was no longer there for him😢 Thanks for the lady's patience and understanding what he was going through he finally accepted her. My only advice would be not poking his belly when she trying to make him play. He was not ready for that but he finally accepted her and I wish him a long loving life with her and the rest of the cat family ❤️ 💕

Animals do get abandonment problems just as people do. Poor PomPom didn’t realize his first owner had died, the old guys family was very heartless just abandoning him to his own fate. Thankfully the kind cat loving lady saved him😻😻😻

This woman has immense patience and in this case it was much needed. The cat was so determined to be loyal to the former owner it severely rebuffed any attempts to befriend it. In time the former owner's image began to recede and the value of this gentle woman began to emerge in his mind. Slowly the present crystallized into something warm and meaningful. The heart heals at its own pace.
This video does clearly show the emotional harm and confusion that we do to cats when they learn to love and trust us, and then we later abandon them.These are beautiful, trusting and loving little souls. They feel hurt and emotional pain, not to mention some of the awful physical scars that we sometimes inflict on them. This means that unless we are commited to their care we should avoid adopting them and donate instead to the numerous organisations that care for them. Thank you lady for your patience and devotion to taking the time to study cats behaviour so you could understand how best to respond to PomPom and help him to love and trust again,
