You forgot to put the koopalings Especially lemmy, in smm2, lemmy attack is similar to the nsmb and smbwiiu one, while in smw lemmy just popping out of pipe
6:03 The same thing actually applies for Boos and big Boos in SMW. There’s a surprising amount of spin-jump-able enemies and even objects (like poison bubbles from ghost houses) in that game
Also: P-balloons control differently in SMW, and they have a time limit. Another cool tidbit for those interested in making their own SMW hack that is simply impossible (thus far) in SMM 2 is that you can override the current timer on the clock to be any number you want between 000 (infinite time) and FFF (1665 ticks) inclusive when you enter a new level (enter a pipe, start a level, enter a door, etc.).
Personally, I think they should have kept the physics for all the game styles original to the games but I can understand Nintendo reasoning behind making it the modern physics
@Danilo Gameplay & Gacha Life i dont know why but people always seem to say that to me…. anyways, im off to save the princess from the seven koopa hotels!
You missed some pretty big details about Yoshi; how he has turning frames now (which are from the ending of SMW) and that his arms are green instead of orange. Though I guess that's pretty noticeable, and these videos are more about obscure changes that most people haven't discovered. Also, it would have been cool if you mentioned that pushing Yoshi actually originated in Super Mario Advance 2.
I think some of these would make the game feel alive, and like the original. Simple changes have bothered me while playing and I think it would be nice to have small changes to make it feel like the game it was being
0:18 I dunno what you're talking about I'd listen to my man Yoshi sing for hours 1:58 and Koopa even rehearsed his dancing, I would like to see the concert
The spin jump thing in particular was why I couldn't stand playing the SMW levels in SMM; the mechanics were way too changed and I couldn't adjust. It wasn't just the podaboos; he could spin jump almost everything in SMW but not in SMM.
*I have 5 more differences:* 1. In SMW, you can spin jumps with springs and P-switches, but in SMM2, you can't; 2. In SMW, there's a glitch where you can recicle a P-switch right after you activate it. All you have to do is ride Yoshi and eat the P-switch right after you stomp on it. This doesn't work in SMM2; 3. In SMW, if we use hacks to bring Yoshi in the castle, his sprite will be messed up. In SMM2, Yoshi works perfectly fine in the castle; 4. In SMW, the overworld music is shared even in forests. In SMM2, the forest theme has its own music; 5. In SMW, if you don't touch the white stick moving up and down at the end of the level, you will get a coin instead. In SMM2, you get nothing from not hitting the white stick.
About P Mario’s animations, i think Nintendo re-used them since they were originally going to be used in SMW, but the animations went unused. Since the giga leak i saw that P Mario had similar animations aswell
Alternate Title: Pointing Out Things Devs Missed/Changed for the Super Mario World Style in SMM2 Also at 1:57 I want to say that that Koopa should be a cheerleader.
It's funny how many of these things are the SNES version having more graphic assets, when the SNES was way more resource-constrained. On the SNES they have to justify every additional sprite tile while on the Switch they can just like... add more without caring about space.
I feel like most of these were changed to keep most of the game styles consistent, and make some things more intuitive, like spinning on a podobo (you could in original smw) doesn’t seem very intuitive
3:32 - "Mushroom is heavier" Heavy shrooms sounds differently out of context lmfao Also damn, SMW despite lacking physical aspects feels more interesting compare to what supposed to be a more advanced version of it
Mario world is the best mario 2D game adventure (no mario maker, and ETC,and the P ballon dont have a small version because in SMM2 is a power up and not a time-iten)
I wonder why they renamed podoboos to lava bubbles? Was it another Birdo/Ostro type mixup with some variant of boos? Who used to be called Boo Diddlys...
I don't understand why they changed the lava ball so that you can't spin jump on them? There's literally a secret place with lifes in Mario World that you can only access after you spin jump in 5(?) lava balls consecutively.
All game styles in Super Mario Maker 1 and 2 use the NSMBU physics engine though I do somewhat agree that all styles should use their own physics. I say somewhat because smb1 physics are pain

Rule of thumb: If you can’t jump on it, you can spin jump on it.
There was also the time that you could spin jump off of Magikoopa’s magic spell particles in SMW
I really like how you recreated the setup for each original level for these tests. Well done!
Yoshi is strong in SMM2. Like a true dinossaur should be. Also, that's a very cute outro!
I agree ☺
He Become Strong by all these years carrying a Big Fat italian.

@Silveeo Mario says that in that game

In SMW, you can spin jump on pretty much anything that deals damage. Thwomps, spinys, saws, boos, giant boos, etc.
6:17 It seems that Mario no longer has his anti-fire shoes
Because he wears anti-slip shoes now
@@name6052 I was about to say that
3:11, that is true, unless you are playing the GBA remake a.k.a. Super Mario Advance 2, where you can push Yoshi by walking against him there as well.
Someone that also knows about the GBA one, nice
@@runman624I used to have it but I can’t find it anywhere so the only ones I have now are 1 and 4
1:20 also in SMW the P balloon only lasts a few seconds and in SMM 2 it lasts until you get hurt
And in SMW you float
5:48 P-Balloons in ground night theme: "Challenge accepted."
Pushing Yoshi was added in Super Mario Advance 2, that’s where it originated
spin attack gains 100 score in SMW, and gains 200 score in SMM2
3:04 You can move Yoshi by walking against him in the GBA version of Super Mario World too!
All my memories of SMW are from the GBA version, so I got a little confused there
good to know these facts about the original super mario world, i’m planning to play it soon! nice video as always!

Definitely. I love that you can briefly see both eyes on a Koopa Troopa in the original, it’s a shame that didn’t make it in to SMM2
Just imagine if each style has its exclusive properties like 3d world
You forgot about Mario pushing Yoshi off on GBA version of Super Mario World.
Turns out Mario's new non-slip shoes aren't fire proof.
So I played Mario world recently on switch online and never noticed the mushroom sprite changing great video
(5:25) "armless"? You mean "harmless" there, I assume.
(I'm glad I'm not the only one to make silly typos in the text boxes of my videos.)
2:52 This thing can be also done in GBA remake of Super Mario World.
2:57 In a Super Mario World Gameboy advance version he could also push Yoshi Anywhere
6:31 How did I never noticed that?
"There is no thing in the universe that you can't spin-jump on"
but spin-jumping on Bowser crashes the game (joke)

That could be a nice GIF on Twitch
0:18 I dunno what you're talking about I'd listen to my man Yoshi sing for hours
1:58 and Koopa even rehearsed his dancing, I would like to see the concert
This taught me that smw has some really fun little spritework details
You could say mario was... incapable... Of defeating those wigglers...
7:50 Mario has to wait for them to wake up first, which is why using blue koopas can circumvent this because they get up faster
It's more close to just standing up from a fall, since they are eyed open and aren't properly grounded, because my man Mario jumped over him.
The spin jump thing in particular was why I couldn't stand playing the SMW levels in SMM; the mechanics were way too changed and I couldn't adjust. It wasn't just the podaboos; he could spin jump almost everything in SMW but not in SMM.

That Yoshi animation just HAD to be a scrapped crouch animation, and the team decided to still have it in a way.
I've benn waiting for this thank you!
