Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury for Nintendo Switch might seem identical to the Wii U version, but actually there are a lot of little differences!
We've collected in a single huge video the 65 subtle differences we've found; there are some additions, corrections and various editing tweaks!
We've also organized the differences into different categories, for ease of reference!

9:48 I just noticed a little story plays out here. Luigi gets thrown off on Wii U, but once he’s on Switch, he knows what’s about to happen, and he’s like “no-no, not-a again!” and jumps away.
thank god I'm not the only one who noticed

@Emanuel Camdyn cool but nobody asked
I love how Odyssey had such a big impact on this port because a lot of changes in it are from Odyssey. Like ground pounding and doing a roll right afterwards is straight from Odyssey, the midair dive, ground pounding and rolling into pipes and others.
The sfx for the pipes is from Odyssey too.
I was gonna say it wouldn't be a real backwards long jump if it didn't cause some kind of glitch, but... The fact that it actually DOES warms my heart.

Why You cannot peform a Rolling Long-Jump in Super Mario Odyssey?
Its little changes like these that make me appreciate the switch version and the amount of effort they put into it.
exactly
I hate it.
@@Xominus why
no x=bad
including x=good
In super mario 3ds world + fury nothing changed I was really hoping for dasiy as a new character but the new moves are cool nice
Basically WiiU controls are exactly like 3d land while Switch is adjusted to be more like Odyssey due to the new Bowser's Fury mode.
In what way
Yea almost but the controls are better then 3D land but not that big of a difference
also heavy speed increase
@@tuney7319 diving + i forgot rolling
Tyttyt thanks
Difference 66: Bowser is more mildly infuriated.
Difference 67 in Bowser's fury bowser doesn't care about the princess cause he mad and scary
@@joelgamersonic6450 Well I mean, he didn't really care about her in the base game either, he was going after some sort of fairies or whatever lol

I like the fact that on the WiiU you had to use a glitch to run fast enought to skip the intro of the final boss, meanwhile on Switch Toad Is just capable to do It without any set-up
Not even necessary cuz we can skip cutscenes now
actually there's a death barrier there now
@@The_Trident_Master I know, but if there wasn't, you would be fast enought to reach it

the Wii U version was a glitchy mess and that’s why we loved it
So basically, everything on switch is just faster.
super mario 3d world speed edition
I guess so
Pretty much
Yes
Toad is literally Sonic, maybe even faster
What about Toad being SO FAST that he can go out of bounds on the ghost ship level, leaving visual artifacts? I don't remember if that was possible on Wii U.
@Lochlan Smith the shipwreck stage in World 6
16:56 "On switch, you can quickly close Luigi Bros. And go back to the main menu with the ¬_¬ button!"
I love the 😒 button!
Oh boy here we go... the full series
New Funky Mode

The reason fireballs travel farther is that there is a time limit, not a distance limit. This time limit is the same as it is on Wii U, but the speed is faster, so it travels farther in that amount of time.
With how everything is faster, they might as well have called it “Super Mario SpeeD World”.
Super Mario SpeeDy World
Still annoyed at the invisible clear pipe in Champions Road
I thought that was intentional
It's just like LBP1 and glass!
Well, glass and other transparent things do tend to go nearly invisible when submerged in water.
@@alekmocarski2089 didn't you know? glass dies in glass
Fun fact: Looygi invented a speedrun: Close LuigiBros and enter SM3DW. He also holds the WR.
Fun Fact: the clear pipe turning invisible underwater is actually more realistic. Reminds me of a news story where a thief hid a diamond in a glass of ice water?
It’s all about refractivity index- plexiglass for example has the same refractivity index as water, so say a plexiglass box would be invisible under water. If the pipes are plexiglass, this would be accurate.
It was invisible due to hardware limitations
Cat Dive still have time limit on Switch version, it just was greatly enhanced. It shown on levels, where you need go up, if you jump from the top.
I love how the move-set is more like odyssey. Makes the game less sluggish for those skilled.
Wow I'm impressed by how much the developers worked to fix and improve this game. It's almost like they care about quality.
2:36 ahhh how
28:46 Captain Toad, "fearless" hunter of green stars!
*Is too dumb to just move away from the circle*
Maybe they're new recruits
They said he was fearless, not smart!
To be fair they're probably just chasing him
25:18 WHAT!? IT KILLS YOU!? -IGN
Switch version added a lot of good improvements, but I don't like how it teleports you to the flagpole. I kinda liked to fly over it sometimes
I appreciate 18:36 for some reason. The fact that they put a little extra work in to remove the enter animation is awesome. Something that was really satisfying to me about SMB3 was that not only would you enter the pipe immediately, but you would enter regardless of where you were on the pipe. You could enter middle, to the side, etc. I wish they would bring that back, not having the "centering" animation before entering. There was something so pleasing about the way pipes worked in SMB3. The funny thing is they probably saw the nsmb series as "refining" the way it worked, but imo it takes you out of immersion.
I never played the Wii U version but it's nice that they fixed some stuff from it in Bowser's Fury
14:04 #35 that occurs only in the English version (idk about what happens in other languages than Japanese and Spanish, which kept unchanged). In both Japanese versions, that "HELP" word is written in all uppercase, while in the Spanish ones the word "Socorro" is written with only the initial in uppercase.
19:36 #46 this change, in several languages, caused the removal of any mention to the act of blowing in World 2-2's stage name, while in English (Puffprod Peaks) and some other languages remained the same.
Wow, these changes really add up when you actually play the game. At first I was on the edge about buying this game again on the Switch, but now I’m super glad I bought it.
5:22 toad just wants to impress toadette
1:44 _nice_ try Looygi, but you can’t hide it from me
Heh, nice
I saw that too and saw was a a pun
So funny 😐

19:39 I miss the blowing pad mic...it’s sad there is no mic on nintendo switch
Just wanted to say thanks for these videos - I've been using them to help document changes on the Super Mario Wiki page for the game!
8:38 That’s pretty sick
speedrunner after seeing this video : "I gotta get a switch rn"
Should have been, "I WILL TAKE YOUR ENTIRE STOCK!"
18:27 There's an error there: the Wii U video clip still goes on, instead of changing it to the Switch clip.
Overall, the changes 43 and 44 were probably made to match that movement with Super Mario Odyssey's interactions (where you can also enter a pipe fast by ground-pounding or rolling).
The speed increase is absolutely amazing for speedrunning.
that would make a 10-15min~ diffirence
I think the bubble change was made because, in addition to the limited buttons, when you're playing in docked mode the R button is taken up by the touch cursor.
Also, I'm surprised the dive was a new addition, I use it CONSTANTLY - it's saved me so many times (ig it makes sense because I remember it being new to Odyssey)
Actually, the cat dive will stop after a little while, but it's long enough that you could still dive for a long time in normal gameplay. You can test this from the very tip top of Slipskate Slopes or Crisp Climb Castle in Bowser's Fury
Lol when it talked about the d-pad I though the switch just said "movement is no longer an option" 11:37
Tfw Nintendo put more effort into the 3D World port than into 3D All Stars.
I think it was because they wanted to keep more of an original look on the 3D all stars
Luigi: [slides into a Koopa, killing it]
Also Luigi: Whoop.
21:10
Wow they really did put a lot more effort into this port than i thought! 😎👍
Here's a subtle change I noticed: The free camera mode from the Wii U version is no longer present on the Switch, likely replaced by snapshot mode. Also, the colors on the Switch version are more vibrant than on Wii U.
The colors thing is not an improvement of the game itself, but of the hardware.
The same applies with MK8, CAP.T and other Wii U games on the Switch!
The wii u is stuck with limited color range while switch allows full color range@@vittosphonecollection4134
Its funny to see how direct english actually is.

15:04 unless you collected them and then activated the checkpoint
0:51 Hey! You updated it! Idk if my comment helped (from part 3) but thanks for changing it!
Switch version: I aM SpEEd
Also im mad cat momentum is gone
Cat momentum isn’t gone.
its actually not gone, and jumping the second you hit the ground continuously is actually faster
I haven't played enough to get Rosalina yet but I'm actually kind of disappointed that you can't use her spin while carrying a friend anymore
Amazing video :) so much effort was put into this!!
This is much better than separate episodes. *Love it Looygi!*
To clarify #21, you only long jump if you're holding Crouch; jumping off a slope while sliding down it still does a normal jump if you aren't holding the Crouch button, so you have the option of doing either. Not sure why you couldn't long jump off a slope before; it was something that really bothered me. On top of everything else they fixed in this version.
7:34 This also works in SMM2 from SM3DW (Wii U)
I really miss the triple jump 😔😔😔
i HATE that you can’t triple jump in 3D World. I also hate the movement in Galaxy, and i hate that you can’t long jump in Sunshine
Me too
@@WitchVillager 101% agreed. Margin of error, 1%.
@@WitchVillager yea after playing odyssey, every previous 3D Mario feels incomplete in some way. Just kinda hard to get used to after having basically everything
@@JettJamesGD i mean, 64’s movement is great too. and i also think that mario in odyssey is slow, so i actually prefer sunshine or 64 than odyssey. the fact that sunshine doesnt have the long jump doesnt make it bad. (but if it did have long jumping then it would be the best movement mario’s ever had imo)
Excellent job pointing all of these things out!👍
13:34 Please, don't turn me into an oversimplified button- AAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!
16:17 It was perfectly timed that the music fitted so well
11:09 you smell it?? *I SMELL B.L.J*
Finally the *YAYAYAYAYA* makes its' triumphant return
Btw i was the first one to notice it@@dragonball4ever2009
Really cool to see so much attention here after so little was put into 3D Allstard
What if they added a cutscene where bowser looks back at the player and the boss fight starts instead of adding a too bad trigger when you do the jump glitch. That would be cool
Though its not intentional...
10:55 it's not really the angle that changed, the angle changed because of the new fireball speed
Thats right
I immediately noticed everything, also you can speed up insanely fast if you spam the smallest hops
13:27 You can say that they are SWITCHED
Apart from the fixed cat dive, all of those changes appear to improve the game for speedrunners.
0:13 plot twist: u just been waiting for the joy con drift to come while holding y
#40 was especially eminent as you always had to leave the level to retry it, and thus, having to watch the cutscene a few times.
Specialy the control set on the Switch explains why Champion's Road is a little more easy on the Switch and that is why most videos on the completion of Champion's Road are more easy. The extra dive jump, even without a cat-suit is handy on the Switch. Of course Champion's Road is still a difficult challenge but since the moves are better on the Switch a lot of the difficulty challenge is gone on that system...I wonder if I can make it in that system, because I certainly can't do ot on the Wii-U...
21:44 I saw that intentional spelling error
5:59 and there’s also an unintentional spelling error, too.
3:01 this is the minor change I hated most
19:23 Okay but this change is extremely stupid and unnecessary in my opinion.
I agree gold flags should be seen as a challenge not a gift for beating the level
18:28 LUIGI, YOU WERE MEANT TO ENTER THE PIPE, NOT EXIT IT
Luigi: ok proceeds to ascend back in the pipe to show pipe succ
15:38 this opens up new ways to get certain green stars
19:58 actually, not all of them. some are touchstones or invisible clouds
I didn't know there were so many differences. Nice video.
6:28 now it's even closer to the fan name I heard a long time ago: "super cat dive of doom"
What if I want to ground-pound an entrance pipe without entering it? Is this possible on the Switch version? Do you enter the pipe seamlessly only when you hold the crouch button or will you always enter it?
"subtle differences"
*proceeds to show a 40% speed increase*
No one would typically notice that unless you remember it or play it side be side
you are making so good content pls make this for a long time and dont vanish in one or two years like much nintendo youtubers and hopefully you get famous
Already kinda is
Great video it’s a nice compilation
0:58
Mario:Hey Luigi! What the hold up?!
I honestly wish they toned doen the movement speed and shell movement speed a tad. The fireballs can also be toned down a bit. But the map speed and coin trsil speed is welcome.
i like the fact that in super mario bros 3d world + bowsers fury you can get a star and die in a level abd it will still be there
6:41 luligi must really hate the ground
Why is this channel so underrated
It would have been nice to see some comparisons to Super Mario Maker 2, as well! For example, how long does the cat dive last in Super Mario Maker 2?
14:13 the sprite message is in caps, and so is your letters
#24 reminds me of a game I once played with my friend. I read the instructions: "Press the ↑ arrow key or the Spacebar to jump." And my friend immediately asked: "And what if I press ↑ and the Spacebar? Will that allow me to double-jump?" Of course, it didn't. But it would've been interesting, wouldn't it?
6:24 I think the dive still stops, but it takes more time. Tell me if I´m wrong with that.
But still: Nice video!
I still like everything on the wiiU i just have so many good memories with it
I love how Odyssey’s movement were based on Wii U’s 3D World and Switch’s 3D World movement is based off Odyssey’s
I'd says Odyssey's is based on Galaxy's
Which video editor do you use? Please!
Awesome video dude ;)
13:20 I believe the X is gone to feel less cluttered
and also to match odyssey
Originally, they were supposed to put it in the game, but was never used in the finished version. However, it can be accessed through hacking.
@@datCoolPro101 bruh no
But the D Pad is a good option especially with Joy Con Drift
the outro is perfect
Difference #66: In terms of graphics, the Switch version is in full RGB because the Wii U version for some reason was in limited RGB, so now things are more bright and colorful.
25:11 I think it’s so funny how much setup it takes Wii U to go the same speed as Toad going in circles on Switch
I knew I felt faster, and now I know why. So, thanks for that!
i'm curious what percentage of these changes were made just as a result of them increasing horizontal speeds.
14:24 This doesn't happen in the Switch version because it's a cartridge game. Cartridge games don't store enough data in many cases to fit the whole game.
BLOO TODD
But I guess it would still happen on CD aswell since the Switch is much faster than the Wii U and the Wii U already takes like one second
How do you activate that camera mode?
24:37 I don't consider that a glitch. In real life, transparent objects with the same refraction index as water appear invisible when submerged. It's just an incredibly specific, yet scientifically accurate visual detail.
Still it isn't supposed to work like that, so it's a glitch even if it's more realistic by our standards
