It might say "Allow my user access to new Gmail UI and features" STEP 4: Then click SAVE These changes may take up to 1 hour to propagate to all users - in some cases up to 24 hours.
I'm raising something regarding the snooze option that I may have missed. In rightinbox you can set a reminder when sending an email, but I can't see this as part of the new snooze option - have I missed something?
I think all instructional videos could've been shortened, but this one was well done in teaching fundamentals. I have found that people who master things, do so by mastering the fundamentals first. Good job, Simpletivity!
Thanks so much for the great video. I love the new features of gmail and I'm ready to impliment a few right away. Here's two things I'd love to be able to do with my mail: 1) Modify the subject line of mail in my inbox, 2) make deleting thousands of emails easier. Last time I worked to delete a list of 10,000 I cursed gmail a bunch. I hope they make that easier. Like: DELETE EVERY DAMN ONE OF THEM. That would be super awesome.
I still use Hotmail (outlook) as my main email, but also use Gmail as my alternate email. I like the new redesign and features and find them easy to use. Great video. Thanks!
I've just started using Gmail over the last few days. I've used Gmail as my private email for many years, but always via Outlook etc. Having had all sorts of issue with Windows Mail, I decided to ditch it and go with the Online version of Gmail. Love it, it's so clean and customizable. I assume, since it's 2020 that I'm using the "new Gmail"....😉 2 things that don't seem to work, are the "unsend" option and the "desktop notifications" options, both of which are correctly set up, so far as I can see. I've looked at various "tutorials" and followed the instructions, but I'm *still* not receiving notifications, nor the option to "unsend" emails, which I have set at 30 seconds. Any advice would be gratefully received....many thanks! 🙏😉
There is a couple of very supportive options they add to this update as you can reply with the same attachment you initially received. Add to this; finally, you can directly copy and past any table from Excel straight to the email body without using any additional extensions or tricks.😅
Q: I still don't understand the purpose of the "KEEP" function. What's the difference between Keep and "TASK"? Don't both allow you to make notes to yourself regarding the e-mail? You've got one of the BEST demo videos simply because you are using a 'highlighted' cursor / arrow function. For those of us who have eyesight problems like I do. Having, that highlighted arrow feature added to your demonstration makes it real easy to follow the 'action'. Thank you for your consideration in that regard.
Yes, you can make notes in both if desired. Keep is more for notes, while Tasks is more for to-dos. Thanks for watching and for your feedback. I really appreciate it!
hey scott great video, yet last night I tried the new gmail on my personal mail, and today on my work mail, and I have discovered a major design flaw with this new version. On both the comfortable view and compact, you are unable to click on the paperclip attachment because the hovering bar of other options covers the paperclip, making it inaccessible. Please try it.
Hi Jay. It's true that you may not be able to access the paperclip because of the other hovering options. However, even if you could access it, I don't believe you could open it directly. Direct access to opening attachements is only availble in the new default view.
Hi, Scott Friesen, I love seeing you in your simplitivity presentation this thoroughly of simpletivity quick button features set and boomerang and few name features appendable feature apps hints. So thanks you very much Scott.. about this gmail enhanced support i called for in 2014 May & June. God bless.
Yes, this upgrade applies to both basic Gmail users and those who use Gmail as a part of G Suite (Google Apps for Business). Thanks for watching, Mark.
Well done, as usual, Scott. I like the new Gmail interface and the right side apps for Calendar, Keep, and Tasks. I've been using Inbox since it became available to all consumers, but I been going to Gmail each day. I'm torn whether to use the new Gmail or Inbox.
I think there will be a lot of people who will be deciding which Gmail app they will use as their primary inbox. Thanks for sharing your feedback, Thomas.
I can tell you the New Gmail is sharper and looks better. I use both Google Inbox and Gmail and I am impressed by the clean interface of the New Gmail. Note- it is best if you check your labels for email. I found one my email's in a label!
P.S. I have spread the word about your highlighting technique with other content creators. I have suggested to others that they consider doing the same. So, far I think I have passed on this suggestion to about 6 or 7 others. Hope you don't mind. :) In addition, I forgot to compliment you on the fantastic clarity of your mic and or audio. What are you using for your audio equipment?
Very good explnation. The new look is great: the snooz botton, and other features. I would like my contacts from my cellular as a backup and as using option, and a possibility to see when my mails are openning and also reading.
How about a handy and desireable feature; to delay the email delivery, instead of instant receiving? It would allow the sender to compose the mail and send it right afterward but the time for receiving could be choosen when the time is more convenient for the recepient.
Thanks for the review. I'm also really liking the "New Gmail". I do have one question though. I see in the video, you have an option that says - Pause Inbox. Can you explain what that does and how did you get it? I'm not seeing that in my setup.
Yes, Lesa is correct. The Pause Inbox button you see is a result of the Boomerang extension that I use. It allows you to stop receiving email for a certain period of time.
Okay, I used to use Boomerang, until I switched to the new gmail. I did see that then but wasn't sure how it would appear in the new gmail. Thanks Lesa!!!!
Like the new features and going to try the new look. One thing that I would like to see is a more simplistic way to filter emails. I still receive emails I thought I had filtered to block or send to a folder. I give up at times because there may be to may too many filtering options.
Nice video. I like the new features, but have been hoping for a "sticky note" feature that would allow me to put notes on an email that only I can read.
What happened to the phone option in Gmail? Also, can themes be added to this new version? My current Gmail background is a beautiful landscape scene. This looks kind of plain to me.
Good video, I have a question, Where are the contacts, I found them in a roundabout way, can you explain the Google method to get access to your contacts, Thank You
Right now, it looks like you'll need to use the Google Apps icon (9 dots) in the top right corner of the screen. But let's hope that they add it to the new sidebar soon! Thanks for the question, Ray.
Could we set it up to open Gmail without having to wait for the animation of the Gmail envelope? It is really annoying to have to wait and have to see it moving before the inbox opens. Thxs
Nice video. I like the new design except for one major change: They removed the rectangle framing boxes around the various layout components. Now it looks like just a bunch of text spread out all across the screen. It looks disorganized because there is no delineation between screen sections. It's harder for my eye to quickly identify and pick-out where one thing ends and another begins. For example, the button bar at the top is just a bunch of words in a row now. Before, it was very clear what the buttons were. This is worsened by the fact that some buttons are multiple words.
The Contacts can be found in the Google Apps icon (9 dots) in the top right corner of the page. Hopefully, this will be added to the sidebar soon. Thanks for watching!
In all the apps that you describe it would be desirable to add an audio record button so that i could record a voice message + mark it with a certain color which would denote its importance.
What I wanted gmail to add is select all and delete. I have a lot of unwanted messages in my inbox but I dont have that time to select the box one by one so I want something that I cant do to select them either by category or just all at once. Thanks
You can select all by using the checkbox icon on the top left corner of the messages. This will work within a particular label or if you are searching for emails. I hope that helps!
I was wondering if there is a way in gmail so that I could set a notification sound based on the sender so that I can tell who is sending me an email. For example, I would like one notification sound for my wife and a different sound for my boss. Thanks
How do you add the RSVP icon? Is that only available in Gmail for work? I sent myself a test email from a different account requesting a meeting including a date and time but when I rollover the email in the receiving account I don't get the RSVP option to come up. Thanks, in advance.
That's a great question, Steven. It doesn't look like this is possible at the moment. But this is certainly a much needed addition (I noticed this right away as well).
@@Simpletivity What exactly do you both mean by "change the calendar icon in the sidebar?" Do you mean to add, or to view, or manage which calendars you see when looking at your day or schedule?? Because you can view and make changes to any calendar you have access to, by selecting the calendar icon that is already there, which activates the new sidebar calendar option. Just click the icon and then up near the top of the sidebar, click the three vertical dots, and you can select manage calendars. Then you can select any calendar you have the right to access and all of those calendars, whether you created them and own them, or someone else owns them, or they are just from another Google associated account; you will have ALL the same "rights" whether to view, update, edit, delete, or any other option a calendar can allows you to have. Ever since having early release access to this new update, I have had several calendars viewable and manageable within that new calendar quick access sidebar view. Is that what you are referring to, or were you wanting to actually change the icon itself, or am I missing something??
We are referring to accessing another calendar from a different Google account. For example, since I forward Gmail addresses to one account, I would like to access the other calendars from this sidebar as well.
I like the new Gmail, however, I do not understand why the fonts changed. I have looked everywhere to try to get it back to the original format but to no avail. It seems to be a combination of bold and regular font and it is hard on the eyes.
Would have been nice to put a back page arrow at the bottom of the window. I find it annoying that if you're looking for an old email, you scroll down, and it's not on that page, so you have to scroll up to click back a page.
In the top left corner of the email, there will be a small Show Details arrow beside the sender's name. Select this and you can view their full email address.
I'm trying to figure out how to move an email from my inbox to a client label after using the search features to find specific emails. When I drag and drop the email(s) still shows up in my inbox and has just added another label. I also notice that I don't have the icon with the option to 'move' these emails to labels when selecting emails after searching for them. How can I move individual, or multiple emails from my inbox into a label and have it removed from my inbox and only show in the specific label after finding the email(s) using the search options? I hope this makes sense. Thank you.
That's a great question, Melissa. Within your Inbox, you can use the 'Move to' icon at the top of the screen when one or more messages are selected. But in search results, this option is replaced by a 'Move to Inbox' icon. You can always apply the label from anywhere, but you may have to move it out of your Inbox while you are in that view. I hope that helps!
@@Simpletivity Ugh! No longer being able to sort by send/subject and moving multiple emails at once out of my inbox and into a specific label is going to cause me a lot more time and work moving emails after a project is complete. Would you have suggestions/recommendations on what to use (or maybe a setting that I am unaware of that needs changed) to suggest better use of grammar when composing an email? And is there a way to delete your last entry into an email, similar to the undo option within Microsoft? Outlook has both of these features. but I haven't checked what to do using Google. Recently changing from Outlook to GMail was a challenge. Now I am having to learn it all over again with the changes. It's not been fun :)
I normally pay my bills on line, .which are set up in my favorites. Now my question is when I pay the bill they automatic email me an receipt. how I can I put that email in a file for future reference. In my net zero email they have an icon that I can click on to move the email to a file folder for future reference. I can't figure out how to do that in gmail.
Don't even try they there is no reply system to send to either and asking them for help and all you get is being ignored and unwilling to answer anyone who needs help
I like the new Gmail but can somebody teach me how to get the read receipt bcz I dont have it in my right bottom 'more option' tab in new message. Please help.
Unfortunatly, you're not the first one to complian about this. The Contacts reside in the Google Apps icon (9 dots) in the top right corner of the page. But hopefully they'll come up with a better location soon.
I love the new Gmail. the only the only things I wish it had was a shortcut on my mac dock to it so you didn't have to use gogle chrome or another 3rd party other than Gmail and of course the desktop shortcut and where the app bar is I wish one of the add ons was google doc word processoer
I love the new Gmail. I left Ms Outlook for it about 6 weeks ago. What I do miss is Outlook's auto-correct function which it shares with the other Ms Office programs. I know that Google Docs has this valuable feature. But I do wish Gmail gets it. Hopefully it will be a shared auto-correct file like in Ms Office, which you use at least in Google Docs as well as in Gmail. The reason I depend so much on autocorrect is that I usually write in Afrikaans, and therefore use a lot of ê, ë, etc. An Afrikaans spell check would also help, but I do not find an Afrikaans spell check for Google. Come, Gmail!
Hello, I like it but one issue that I am having is how to expand my label/folder column on the left from collapsing, I have tried all but it keeps collapsing.
To make a hidden label visible in Gmail: In the left sidebar of Gmail, click More below the labels list.Click the desired label in the expanded More section and hold down the mouse button.Drag the label up to the list of labels under Inbox.Let go of the mouse button to release the label.(source: lifewire.com)
Hi sir in my g mail its not showing the boomerang option after updating to the new g mail, could you please help me out or figure me out with an solution
God forbid, but what happens if a virus, malware etc. is attached to the e-mail and it shows up in your Inbox, and you view the attachment WITHOUT opening the e-mail. Will you still get infected just by 'glancing' at the attachment?
I'd like confirmation of receipt of he email and when it was opened - and by how many different servers - that would be more than "facially" upgraded -
although GMail now offers users the ability to prepare and email now and have it sent at date and time of user's choosing (a feature that was once a stalwart Boomerang-only feature), the ability to request delivery/read receipts is still only available to users who have Boomerang for Gmail extension installed. I have never audited server information and do not know if Boomerang can provide that to you.
My snooze button doesn't appear, does anyone know if i have to do something in particular to have it? i have the new gmail with default view. Let me know! :)
Just use the search bar to find the email you are looking for. Once located, you can return it to the Inbox if desired. Or you can reply, forward, or do anything to it without moving it out of the Archive. I hope that helps!
I didn't mention this button because this is a Boomerang add-on and not something that is standard within Gmail. But thanks for being so observant! You can find out more information about Pause Inbox here: www.inboxpause.com/
Simpletivity awesome video...covered everything i wish they had it for ios app, all accounts ( when we add multiple accounts it should combine & show all mails in inbox) & also dark mode
What do you like the most about the new Gmail?
First go I did not have it as I'm using the Goolge business version "G-Suite" and in the business version it doesn't prompt for your email users. To change this you have to follow these steps:

A lot of people seem unaware of one of the features I like most - the ability to drag an email directly into the task pane to create a task.
Yes, that is a fantastic new feature. Thanks for sharing, Ken.

You bet, Kylie. I plan to have a review of the new Trello update in the next few weeks.

Can we create folders in gmail? Thanks
Labels are the equivalent of folders in Gmail. Just like traditional folders, you can also 'nest' labels within other labels.
I like the new Gmail but wish they'd kept the feature where a date inside an email was clickable to add to Google calendar
In all the apps that you describe it would be desirable to add an audio record button so that i could record a voice message + mark it with a certain color which would denote its importance.

We are referring to accessing another calendar from a different Google account. For example, since I forward Gmail addresses to one account, I would like to access the other calendars from this sidebar as well.
The Inbox 'ticking off emails' concept is the best and a shame they are decommissioning it
Thanks for watching and sharing your feedback, Ryan.
I like the new Gmail, however, I do not understand why the fonts changed. I have looked everywhere to try to get it back to the original format but to no avail. It seems to be a combination of bold and regular font and it is hard on the eyes.
Yes, that is sometimes one of the downsides of new updates. We get new features, but we don't always agree with the new fonts. Thanks for sharing!
I don't seem to have the option to try the new email. I'm using Google Suite for business and the multiple inbox feature. Could that be the reason?
Hi, Nicole. You may need to enable the new Gmail interface within your G Suite administration account.
Task app is totally new concept
Would have been nice to put a back page arrow at the bottom of the window. I find it annoying that if you're looking for an old email, you scroll down, and it's not on that page, so you have to scroll up to click back a page.
Yes, that would have been a nice addition. Thanks for sharing, Derek.
Where can I see the url of the people sending email?
In the top left corner of the email, there will be a small Show Details arrow beside the sender's name. Select this and you can view their full email address.
I can't figure out how to sort emails by sender in the new gmail.
I didn't see that the email text was bigger with the new Gmail. I had to look at videos to show me how to make my incoming email font larger.
Yes, sometimes these changes can have some inconvenient sizing effects.
Grammarly is my recommendation for checking common mistakes. It also applies to almost anything you write online including social media.
I think every one have to try Mailcastr app.
Thanks for the recommendation, Serah.
is there a way to track receipt and read by the receiver?
Yes, there are several Gmail add-ons which can help you do this without specifically requesting an action by the receiver.
@@Simpletivity Can you provide more explanation?
You may want to take a look at Mailtrack as an example: mailtrack.io/en/
I normally pay my bills on line, .which are set up in my favorites. Now my question is when I pay the bill they automatic email me an receipt. how I can I put that email in a file for future reference. In my net zero email they have an icon that I can click on to move the email to a file folder for future reference. I can't figure out how to do that in gmail.
I'd recommend using labels within Gmail for this purpose.
I put mine in a label called Paid Bills. For some like AMEX I have a sub label; Paid BILLS-AMEX.
Don't even try they there is no reply system to send to either and asking them for help and all you get is being ignored and unwilling to answer anyone who needs help
nice
Thanks for watching, John.
I like the new Gmail but can somebody teach me how to get the read receipt bcz I dont have it in my right bottom 'more option' tab in new message. Please help.
Wish the contact list was available within gmail rather than being a different app now
I agree, Tom. Let's hope that they add the Contacts app to the sidebar in the near future.
where to find the contacts ???
can't find my contacts in this newly designed webpage!!!!
Unfortunatly, you're not the first one to complian about this. The Contacts reside in the Google Apps icon (9 dots) in the top right corner of the page. But hopefully they'll come up with a better location soon.
Simpletivity thank you soo much..!!
I love the new Gmail. the only the only things I wish it had was a shortcut on my mac dock to it so you didn't have to use gogle chrome or another 3rd party other than Gmail and of course the desktop shortcut and where the app bar is I wish one of the add ons was google doc word processoer
Thanks for sharing, Paul.
is there a dark mode for Gmail and Calendar?
Yes, you can find out how here: www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-turn-on-dark-mode-for-gmail-or-all-of-chrome/
A little help . when i hover over the snooze tab it stays shaded and does not activate. any suggestions?
You will need to select it in order to see the possible options, not just hover over it. If that doesn't work, it may be a bug.
How to make it look and feel like Inbox by Gmail?
I suggest looking at this article: www.fastcompany.com/90237978/heres-how-to-recreate-google-inboxs-best-features-in-gmail
Thanks for sharing your feedback, Neels.

Do not pass go, install Grammarly. Better and less aggravation.
I like to add new gmail apps
I love it but its very sad that is only desktop. I work all day with my smartphone, and is very bad to leave this environment and go in the old style
Yes, it will be interesting to see what happens next for Gmail mobile.
EVEN THAT OF MOBILE IS OUT JUST GO THE PLAY STORE AND UPDATE YOUR GMAIL IT WILL INTERGRATED INTO IT
Yes I do recommend every one to use Gmail simply because clarity, consistancy, rich texture, accessible, affordable,.
Hello, I like it but one issue that I am having is how to expand my label/folder column on the left from collapsing, I have tried all but it keeps collapsing.
To make a hidden label visible in Gmail:
In the left sidebar of Gmail, click More below the labels list.Click the desired label in the expanded More section and hold down the mouse button.Drag the label up to the list of labels under Inbox.Let go of the mouse button to release the label.(source: lifewire.com)
Thank you.
Can it automatically delete spam so i dont have to mess with it ?
Yes, messages that have been in Spam for more than 30 days will be automatically deleted.
On this new version where is the address book?
The Contacts app is located within the Google Apps icon (9 dots) in the top right corner.
Can this Gmail allow me to send to groups without downloading another app? Then am in!
Yes, you can create a group in Google Contacts and then send via Gmail.
Using Lables on all my contacts works for me.
I was look for the button on g-mail that lets me download to my pc ?? Can not find it.
How can I edit/delete contacts? I cannot find the Contacts icon or button.
You can now find contacts in the Google Apps Icon (top right with 9 dots).
The only thing I don't like about this new view, is that I can't find my Contacts List!!
Hi sir in my g mail its not showing the boomerang option after updating to the new g mail, could you please help me out or figure me out with an solution
The Boomerang option is an additional add-on that I use with my Gmail account. You can learn more at boomeranggmail.com
I want Contacts in the sidebar. I am annoyed that I have to find it in the apps panel. Why hide it?
That's a very good point, Joan. Perhaps it will be availble in the sidebar soon.
Super
Thanks for watching!
How do I get to the contacts page to add a new contact?
The quickest way is to type G C on your keyboard when in Gmail. I hope that helps!
The only thing that really needed to be changed was to add alphabetizing. I want to alphabetize my emails.
Thanks for sharing your feedback.
alphabetized based on what field data?
Ok, how about showing how to access your contact list?
Sure thing, here you go: th-cam.com/video/PutqXUq-ctc/w-d-xo.html
Why are you saying some messages are bigger than other? They're not bigger; they're darker.
???
If you are using the new Gmail view, messages with an attachment will be double the height of a message without an attachment.
how do i get a photo from G mailand add it to Google photos
I can't find the contacts... to add a new contact! So frustrating!
Stay tuned for a new Contacts video later this month - including a shortcut to get to the Contacts page!
My snooze button doesn't appear, does anyone know if i have to do something in particular to have it? i have the new gmail with default view. Let me know! :)
It looks like the snooze feature is only available if you have Conversation View turned on. You can adjust this in your settings.
Thanks a lot!
How do I retrieve an email that was archived?
Just use the search bar to find the email you are looking for. Once located, you can return it to the Inbox if desired. Or you can reply, forward, or do anything to it without moving it out of the Archive. I hope that helps!
you did not say about "pause inbox"anything?
I didn't mention this button because this is a Boomerang add-on and not something that is standard within Gmail. But thanks for being so observant! You can find out more information about Pause Inbox here: www.inboxpause.com/
With the new gmaill, there is NO contact option. How to do edit or add contacts??????
You can find your contacts in the Google Apps icon (9 dots) in the top right corner of the screen. I hope that helps!
This new gmail look also on gmail app for IOS?
No, at least not yet. This update is currently just for the desktop/online version.
Simpletivity awesome video...covered everything i wish they had it for ios app, all accounts ( when we add multiple accounts it should combine & show all mails in inbox) & also dark mode
Let's see what happens next for iOS. Thanks for watching!
