I ahve a 1995 4WD Suburban that I lifted about 6 months ago...Rough Country 2-3" suspension lift (3" front, 2" rear). I can see where they got their name from...extremely rough ride. Plan to install 5100's all around but the only 5100 front shock I can find is rated for 4-6" lift. Not sure if this will be an issue or not. Still checking before I commit to a purchase.
Have you tried removing the sway bar? I've got a rcsb and deleted the sway bar, improved the ride without adding much body roll. Your wheelbase is a little longer so you might have a little more. You could try it out first by removing the end links and rotating the sway bar out of the way.
Ty for saying at the end they dont fit 2wd c 1500 i got a 6inch rough country.
like your videos keep up the good work
Your truck looks awesome 😋
My yukon suv has kybs but the bilsteins shud be better? Awd 2" lift
Then again I just got mine lifted and have the new shocks
The roads are probably pitched like that for water run off how are the shocks I’m looking to buy for my obs single cab
I replaced the original equipment shocks on my 2004 Tahoe with the Bilstein 5100's. My comments echo those of everyone I have heard, the ride quality is just outstanding. My wife also noticed immediately, so it isn't just me.
Where’d you get the headlights setup from?
My k1500 needs front and rear shocks aswell, thanks for the video! 6 inch fabtech 35x12.5r15s🤘
Thank you for watching!
Will these shocks work on a stock height truck??
The intersections are wavy because vehicles stop at them and the pavement forms to the tires. Roads are also paved in the summer when it’s hot which makes the surface soft.
Roads are also crowned in the middle to allow heavy rains to run off without flooding the road. But some are ridiculous...one road near me that I run on is so crowned I have to run down the center of the road to avoid beating up my ankles and knees.
Should have done this a long time ago! Shock upgrades are well worth it!
BADZ71 What are the height of those bilstein shocks like for what lift?.
These are for 6" lift trucks
BADZ71 can’t find rear shocks for my 6inch lift theres only for 5inch lift for the rear lol i drive a 2004 chevy silverado 1500
The reason the road is like that is cause so water doesn’t build up in the intersection
I came to comments just to let him know that as well.. That's why they do it. I used to make asphalt... Not lay it but mix it at hot plant so I know a little about it. Anyways cheers
Hey so you have a 6 inc lift so need it bigger shock or it’s work with a regular shock.?
Yes unless u get bilstein 5100’s. Those are for lifted trucks so most will fit for the same application
Next project is going to be installing Sumo or Timbrem polyurethane shocks, they are available in 3 density ,you can use it as a bump stop, overload spring, anti-sway stabilator and in general everything you can think of,check it out.
When i installed mine on my tahoe i was like the fronts go upside down? But thats how they work. Best shocks i have ever used. My friend has fox on a same type of truck and too firm for the road.
I have absolutely no complaints with mine for sure, I also prefer them mounted this way lol
BADZ71 thats the way bilstein said to install them when I called also for the fronts
What Flowmaster do you have installed on the truck?
I don't have flowmaster. I have two Jones performance turbines
Appreciate the video. Question. Who makes your fender flairs?
They are made by bushwhacker
@@BADZ71 thanks bud.
Can improper jacking up the rear end during shock installation cause the transmission mounts to get cracked? This happened to me on my 4RUNNER.
I've never heard of that happening before, it I guess it could be possible.
@BADZ71 my rear was noticeably higher after installing the shocks
Semi’s compress the asphalt and creat little trenches or groves in the road. It happens everywhere they lay asphalt; not a Springfield thing
Also, the braking actions of vehicles "push" the face of bumps higher over time. The bumbs grow where breaking occures.
How did you make your anthem logo white or do you have a link to a video?
EDIT: my brother loves the Bilstein shocks on his 99 GMC Suburban
The logo is removable from the center cap with three screws. I just take it out and paint it.
@@BADZ71 Ok thanks
I have those rc shocks on my 94 and i have always hated them the ride quality is shit, gonna have to get these
For sure! I completely agree
I heard those ride better than brandnew stock ??????
I'm not sure on that one, but they are pretty nice!
My rcx shocks are upside down too which causes it to hit my upper control arms 😂
That was another point I forgot to make lol
BADZ71 yours must’ve had that problem too. I’m runnin 37’s so my torsion bars are jacked pretty high so my arms hit my shock so much theres a pretty good dent in them 😂😂😂
So what's going on with the yellow C3 Vette?
It's dad's project car. Just needs a radiator and new calipers and it will be ready to roll
@@BADZ71 Would enjoy seeing a video on it
@@joshwright5541 I might try and do one at some point!
I have a RC 2.5 inch lift that is actually a 3 inch when installed. It beats me to death when i drive it! Ridiculous!!
Can these go on a stock 98 Chevy k1500?
Yes, just get the normal size, not the lifted version
I installed a RC 6” lift with 5100 Bilsteins and its a really crappy ride! So rough!!!
Are your keys maxed out?
Ordered me some for my Chevy 6 inch lift putting them on this weekend
Hey man!! It’s been a year. How’s your truck driving with this kit? I’m looking into getting these for my 2011 Silverado 1500 w/ 6 inch lift
I’ve got a 6” Rcx lift and it rides like stock. I couldn’t notice a difference
I don't know how, lol mines so rough
Do they work eve if theyre upside down?
Yes. For some reason, certain vehicles are designed to have the shocks mounted upside down, they still work
@@BADZ71 ok yea cux even the bilstein 4600 are the right way but won't fit if it's lifted .. im going to install them tomorrow see how they do .. how long have you had them for are they still good over time ?
Oh yeah I love Bilstein shocks, I've had these on the truck for over 4 years and on my H3 for around 2. Best for the price IMO
I just installed these shocks on my 2018 Silverado. I put them on boot down after watching several videos that said Bilstein confirmed boot down. I think there stiff as hell! Not loving them! I’m gonna flip them the other way and see if it makes any difference.
@sudburyhouse How are they now ?
@@mohisa5639 I never switched them around just gave them some time to break in. There better after breaking in a little. The issue I’m having more is since I lifted the truck the leaf springs clunk over rough road. Driving me friggen nuts!
@@sudburyhouse I have an 18 Silverado single cab every 6 months I go to the dealership to clean and more importantly lubricate the leaf springs and the ride gets smoother and noise free .
How do you like the bilstein shocks so far ? , how is the ride quality, I'm thinking of installing them because as I mentioned earlier I own a single cab and it jumps over potholes, when taking a speed bump the truck goes up and down and I fly from the seat ,, also on unpaved roads the bed twerks 😐 ....
@@mohisa5639 honestly I don’t feel much of a difference from my stock shocks other than the Bilstein’s damper better. Very stiff ride at first. I definitely don’t get the riding on a cloud feel like some people are saying but they seem a little better now. It’s hard to tell with the clunking leaf springs!
Springfield Ohio??
Missouri
looks like you lit as fuck!!!
You look like fix the shocks opposite way!!!
Man lesson #376 - save money for better shocks instead of powder coating
Those are some old shocks
well your first mistake was using rough country shocks lol.
Couldn't agree more
Not trying to sound like a “dick” or anything. Just being informative, but the Bilstein 5100’s are not SS, they are zinc coated.
Ah ok thank you for clarifying that for me!
Patrick L yup
please don't say negative stuff (road surface at intersection) takes away from your presentation. Otherwise good job!
Ok I'll keep that in mind
How cares about you moving?
You do enough to be rude about it.
No one cares about a stupid old Chevy
Idk. 100,000 people on Instagram and 8,000 here on TH-cam seem to like it.
