    In this video we show how to change the front and rear shocks and replace them with Bilstein 5100 shocks. The processes shown in this video will be identical or very similar on most trucks and SUVs such as the Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Sierra, F150, Dodge, Ram, and more!

    So I bought a set of 5100s for the front after doing all the other components on my 03 1500 ls ext cab. The the flat nub on the new a arm won't let the billstein clear the shock tower. It's needs like another inch. The Ranchos that are in there have a tapered end so they're not having the same issues. It's there anyway I can make them fit before I return them?

New Bilstein 5100's, wheels 18X8.5 KMC KM541 DIRTY HARRY < ;) , tires Goodyear Wrangler 33's, 1.5" lift in the back and some 1-3' MotoFab torsion keys in the front. Nice video! I have a 2006 F350 Super Duty with an 8-inch Fabtech lift (bought it like that in 2016). Does Bilstein make a shock that will work with an 8-inch lift? If not, do you have any recommendations? I want to replace all of my shocks, to include the steering stabilizers. I'm trying to get a much softer ride, as I don't do much off-roading, and a lot of the videos here on TH-cam seem to support Bilstein shocks as a good solution.

    On a 2005 Chevy avalanche, what’s that big rubber thing , just before the suspension, it looks like an upside down pyramid that is all rubber and mine is breaking away. I’m pretty sure it has something to do with if you have extra loads and it seems to be between the chassis and the bed if the truck.?

    Rustoleum Rust Converter primer is awesome stuff. Follow up with some Rustoleum flat or semi-gloss paint. I like the semi-gloss because it sheds water faster than the flat. Wire brush, scrape and sand prior to application. I do this whenever I get into a project like this because why duplicate my efforts? I know there are better rust restoration products but the Rustoleum has served me well at a very reasonable cost. Off the subject I know but I hated seeing all that rust under such a nice truck. I'm waiting on my Monroe Gas-Magnums to arrive because Bilsteins are out of my price range for a shock and I don't off road. I'm getting all four shocks for a little over the price of one Bilstein. Good video, thanks.

    Can I use just the Bilstein 5100 to level my truck Chevy Truck? or do i have to use the torsion keys to level the truck? or both?

    • @TheSundaeDrive
      @TheSundaeDrive  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The shocks alone will not level the truck they just control how the truck handles bumps in the road. You will still need to “raise” the suspension using keys

      You pick the 5100 if youre running bigger tires or planning on lifting the truck. Plus the 5100 front struts are adjustable and the 4600 arent

      At the 6:00 min mark, the boot is up on the rear driver side, and the words on the shock are right side up..?

      If the boots are down they can get ripped by rocks and brush.

    • @stan440us

      I installed mine on my 2002 Silverado. They work great. The boots are up, and for the front they can’t be reversed. And the logo is upside up. The rear could be turned over but that doesn’t make any sense to me. Not a hard job at all.

    your prices for shocks , you out of your mind $2000,00 dollars for shocks, i can get a set of 4 shocks for $77.00 with free shipping , sorry i will not buy shocks from you guy , i am disabled and on a budget

    • @TheSundaeDrive
      @TheSundaeDrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      $2K? We linked to them on Amazon for $350 I believe for the set of 4. I think through Kies they are bit more but we don't set the prices, they are enforced by the distributor. Whoever is selling them on Amazon is shortcutting the distributer and selling for less than smaller businesses can unfortunately. They are definitely on the pricier side for sure tho and there are some budget options out there.
