Timothy Olyphant is also apparently in consideration, but I cut his section to get the video out on time and I felt like I was repeating myself. I think he'd be a great choice and fits the archetype for an older, more charismatic Hal really well! I'd much prefer him to both Brolin and McConaughey, so if they are going older I'd be really happy with him as an option
Chris Pine is probably the best option to me since the characters he plays are similar to Hal Jordan and that he is the youngest. Also Hal is too important to be sidelined since a lot of the best Green Lantern stories are his. If they cast a older Hal Jordan I wonder how old they'll cast Barry Allen and Oliver Queen?
the "here's the thing" bit you do in every video is always funny to me but I was genuinely shocked seeing The Thing and Green Lantern of all people together in a comic lmao
DCU Hal Jordan should be played by an actor on his late 30's and early 40's, allowing him to be older but to the point he can still participate in the action scenes and show up in other films and projects. Meanwhile, DCU John Stewart should be played by someone younger, at least in the late 20's, like Boyega, since I feel that John will be DCU main GL and the one who will be part of the DCU JL (taking inspiration from the cartoon).
According to dcu rumors a lot of the projects will take place at different times meaning you could get a 90s green lantern movie starring a younger version of Hal or something like that so your fan cast could come true. But I’m really hoping Chris pine is our dcu lantern
I like the idea of an older Hal mentoring a younger rookie John who is still a bit headstrong and rebellious like he was in his early appearances in the comics. Timothy Olyphant as Hal and Aaron Pierre as John are my picks for the roles.
I’ve been saying everything you said in this video for yearrss. I’m grateful you made this. Chris Pine for real. Only thing is he was already in Wonder Woman.
Those are both my picks, too. Olyphant just has a certain something as an actor that Pine lacks, and Aaron Pierre has a real presence on the screen that's perfect for John.
Chris Pine is the right age for an older Hal, but still young enough ypu could keep him around for a few years and do other stuff with, also with a little make up, could play younger Hal in flashbacks.
I believe Hal should be played by someone much closer to 25 or 30. 50 is overkill. And not some skinny wimp with a wheez to his voice. Someone fairly muscular with a grovel to his voice. He's supposed to be extrospective for god's sake. Barry is the one that should be "athletically" fit with a Ratchet like voice. This is Time & Space we're talking about!
We already have an older green lantern, Alan Scott. This new universe should bring the characters mostly how they were represented in the comics, with newer actors. My pick for Hal would be Glen Powell.
I nearly included Aldis in my video! I think he would be great as John, he just didn't make the cut since he's 37 and I was looking for someone younger, but he'd kill it
Chris pine and timothy olyphant are def my top choices, I kinda see olyphant as a version of pine that never got the same breakout he did. Hell, olyphant even lost the role of captain kirk to pine! (obviously they are different people but similar vibes) I kinda hope we get olyphant because he is the less known of the two and can be known more as the green lantern. Was also surprised when you brought up LaKieth Stanfield, love him and I never thought of him as john but that could go crazy, I would love to see him in the dcu regardless if not as stewart.
I've always been a massive Green Lantern fan ever since I watch the Green Lantern Animated Series and read Geoff Johns groundbreakimg GL comic run and it's been incredibly tough to be a GL fan for over a decade. As for the castings Im glad Josh Brolin and Matthew McConaughay turned down playing Hal Jordan, even though they are both phenomenal actors, but as Hal Jordan just doesn't feel right. Im slightly nervous about them casting actors in their mid '40s-'50s for Hal in the DCU because it makes me think Hal won't be around for long in the DCU, and that kinda sucks since he has some of the best GL comic storylines to adapt especially the Geoff Johns GL comics, but Im willing to give this a chance since Im a big Green Lantern fan and Im excited to see the character given a second chance for audiences to experience. I also hope they don't adapt the Parallax Hal storyline in the DCU too soon because the only reason that storyline worked was that they built up to it by developing Hal's journey as a GL and his tragic downfall, not to mention his romance with Carol Ferris and his iconic rivalry with Sinestro, who is a villain I really hope they don't forget about since he's the most iconic GL villains and his history with Hal Jordan and their juxtaposed personality makes them such great rivals that Id be really disappointed if they choose to kill or not feature him for the long term duration of the long term of the DCU, especially with how much of a quintessential character he is for the Green Lantern lore in general. Out of all the picks, I hope Chris Pine plays Hal in the DCU, despite his time as Steve Trevor in the DCEU. Timothy Olyphant would also be a great pick as an older Hal Jordan. Although both Chris Pine, Timothy Olyphant and Ewan McGregor aren't entirely some of my top picks to play Hal, even if they are good picks, but personally my fancasting for Hal is someone like Matt Lanter (aka voice of Anakin Skywalker in the Clone Wars show) or James Marsden. If this show is successful enough, then I can see them making an entire sci-fi saga of GL films, and that's something Ive even pitched and written down my own story drafts of an an entire saga of 5-6 GL films, since as a massive Green Lantern fan I've always believed that Green Lantern has the cinematic potential to become DC's answer to Star Wars, so I'm hoping the show is good. Above all else I just want his show to be successful and good quality since the character of Green Lantern has been done too long and although I'm cautious about the direction they're taking with Hal Jordan in the DCU and the stories they could go for but nevertheless I'm still trying to be supportive since I trust James Gunn. After checking out Rebel Ridge I can absolutely see Aaron Pierre playing a great John Stewart, so if he does get the role then I fully support it. John has always been one of my favourite GL characters ever since the DCAU. Trevante Rhodes has also been my personal fancasting for John Stewart too and hope he's at least considered for an audition.
I like Chris Pine since he's only 44 unlike most of the other actors who are in there 50s. And in regards to John Stewart, Aaron Pierre is physically perfect especially since he gave off alot of John Stewart energy in his new movie Rebel Ridge, which is literally a perfect audition tape for him.
Josh Brolin would be a much better pick for Slade Wilson aka DeathStroke. The definitive cast for the lanterns series in my eyes is: Chris Pine as Hal Jordan Aaron Pierre as John Stewart Oliver stark as Guy Gardner Luke Evans as Sinestro
Jake Gylenhaal could work for this, hes got good range, looks older than his age. And could play a cocky pilot but also a complete psychopath, hes done both.
@@WholeShebangYT I think he fits this one, he doesn't quite have the voice for Batman. After seeing Trap, Josh Harnett would make quite the intimidating DCU Batman.

I think I would prefer an older Hal Jordan played by anyone I don’t really care who and have John Stewart be the younger main green lantern for the dcu played by David Jonsson from Alien Romulus. Hal should be a recurring side character with John being the main green lantern we follow.
I think you should care a bit, because longevity is vital in order to maintain the IP alive as well. If the actors too old there's a higher risk that they cant play the role for a long time (especially if the performances turns out good and they want to milk it as long as possible)
