    "Thanks, I needed that!" When I put new e-brake shoes on my '03 3500 Dually, I was looking at the adjustment opening on the drivers side and said to self, "right, that adjustment aint gonna happen". With your video, I see one doesn't have to be Houdini to get 'er done. Thanks and well done!

      Happy to help out. the straight screwdriver worked okay, but I figured it out after this video, if you torch an inexpensive standard screwdriver, you put a 10-20degree bend at the end of the screwdriver you can get it into the adjustment window easier

    I had my equalizer bar rust through on my 2005 RAM 2500 and I let it sit for way too long, so long that the rear parking brake shoes were completely falling apart and I could no longer move the cables. I live in the northeast where they use some really nasty stuff on the roads in winter. I did all the cables from the pedal to the hubs and while I had it that far apart to get to the shoes I ended up doing the backing plates, bearings, seals, rotors and pads. Now it is back to like new and holds like a champ. Thanks for the video.

    That's just about the only thing I hated about drum brakes, the a adjustment.
    Keep the great videos coming.
    Thanks for sharing and God bless

    Taking the wheels of helps , and bending a 90° Angle into a 🪛 screwdriver.
    And try different Angles, there is a sweet spot. You'll find where you can get it to turn .

    I'm having same issue on 2008 MegaCab Cummins. Something I noticed on yours, like mine (but mine is worse) is you'll need to replace the park brake cables. 6:44 when you press the park pedal, you'll see the cable sheath collapses. Mine's destroyed in the same place. This is causing the cable to not fully pull the park brake arm.

      @yourbeekeeper  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey G.G. I agree. My cable is worn out and will need replacement. Right now, It's got a good bite on the parking brakes, but I have absolutely no more adjustments left. Thanks for the info, appreciate it.

    I think you turned the adjusters the wrong way.

    Irony...
    I'm a beekeeper and am swapping rear ends on "the bee truck".
    Oh...and I deleted parking brakes. I don't use them.

      If I had an automatic transmission I would never bother with these parking brakes.

    I just did mine to tighten up the park brake. The passenger side is easy the driver side is a bitch. It frustrates the hell out of me the engineers make things so damn complicated! Smh

      I know right... Unfortunately it's not an engineering exclusive to Dodge.

    Thanks but adjusting the driverside was backwards on my truck.

    The drum in hat on disk brake trucks the emergency brakes don't hold, the local tow operators have dealt with it for decades with F450/550 Fords they've spent hundreds of dollars trying to solve the problem. They end up using line locks but they are not a "legal" parking brake because its not mechanically appied. On my F350 pick up the backing plate that holds the park brake shoes rusted off I never did replace it pulled the shoes out havent had a E brake for 6 years. Ford wanted nearly 1000 a side for parts, I was told don't even bother the brake won't hold. For the brake to hold properly you need to use OEM brake rotors and OEM parking brake shoes. Your better off installing a Mico lever lock if you want something that will hold the factory parking brake will just make you pull your hair out.

      Well... thanks for telling me too late...lol. My red '99 Dodge had rear drum brakes and those held strong enough to stall the engine..haha.

    I see our brake hose holder is broken, just like mine is. I think mine broke the bolts off though.

    Did you ever figure it out?...You were turning the adjusting wheel the wrong way

      It's easiest to pull the wheel and rotor. 😂

    Assuming one never drives with the e brake on (and wears it), do you think the only adjustment it should ever need is at the cable?

    • @yourbeekeeper
      @yourbeekeeper  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's a good assumption, Depending on how long you drive on the parking brakes of course. I actually could have sanded the old shoes and drums and been fine putting it all back together, but I already had the replacement shoes, they only cost $21 at Pep Boys and It was not really worth it to return them. Just be sure Adjust the shoes first, then the cable. My cable and hardware are stretched and worn out...I am on the last bit of adjustment...eventually I will need to replace them.

    Wow something is really wrong here, at first everything was fine well almost. Even though camera was handheld I did not find I was getting sea sick, I really miss that! But it got worse seems a very advanced technology was used as in Tripod or some such. The picture was rock solid, where were the shots of the sky, then ground and then all around? Normally by now my eyes and head would be revolving in opposite directions. I was saving tons of money on drugs cause you get a trip with every youtube video. Now if this solid camera work catches on drug sales will be going up! In case everyone is missing the point Great camera work and Great info to boot, almost missed the content cause it was so easy on the eyes.

    I have the 05 ram, these parking brakes are the worst design ever! Continually rusting solid, I dont use them after spending hundreds replacing them over the years, they should use new tech on these trucks, a hydraulic parking brake!

    • @yourbeekeeper
      @yourbeekeeper  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree 100%. My '99 Dodge had amazing parking brakes, but that was a drum brake axle. This '05 disk brake axle parking brake is very undersized for the truck and poorly designed overall. It wouldn't be such an issue if I didn't have a manual transmission.

      Have an 04.5, same issues. Have re-adjusted and done replaced bits and pieces. Has anyone found something like what they use on drift cars with say a second caliper instead?
