Would you recommend sonax perfect finish and a yellow rupes pad for minor cobwebs and water spots on a brand new car? Never ran thru wash tunnel but seems that dealer washed car with less than ideal towels. Not looking for 100% just at least 80% before I use a good sealant
Thanks for these easy to understand videos. I hav me a Black Ram 1500. And I just got a drill master polisher. Just trying to get more knowledge before start... any tips
How long did this whole vehicle and all the processes take you complete from start to finish? Please and thank you. Asking for the current Mercedes job I'm currently doing. Thank you
What’s your process for cleaning the black paint around and inside the emblems. In the beginning they look gray and discolored but on the finished video they were clean and matched the paint. If you have a video I might have missed it, just pass me the link please. Thanks for the videos they have helped a lot!!
You know what would be interesting? A discussion of the various clear coat systems in use today and their different properties. Another excellent video as usual
Nice work brian. Out of curiosity, why not the rotary for the compounding stage if you knew you were going to follow up with a polish? Little bit less vibration for such a large task and a bit more defect removal.
I like all your videos. You are always talking about the important facts that occur during the correction process. These clear coats are pretty hard. This one is pretty affected, but i had much worse cases where a 180 mm Rupes blue coarse pad was only partially successful on a 21mm throw orbital. In those cases i rely on my Flex 14-2-150 rotary at higher speeds. Surely a rotary is not for inexperienced people, but it is the only logical solution to fulfill the time consuming process. Sometimes, there is no way to shorten the correction time and you need 12-15 hours or even more to get rid of the majority of the defects on a mid size car, no matter what compound you try to use. From case to case it is different, sometimes even sanding on some points is only partially successful. Anyway, you are forced to finish the correction with some good finishing compound and a orbital, it really adds the needed finishing touch that is not avoidable in order to remove hazing, holograms or swirl marks. The Sonax Cut Max is a top notch compound, i use it the most and it is my favorite cutting compound, but i have to admit that the 3M 09374 is the most aggressive compound i ever tried. Some people doubt it because of its known silicone base that was used in it back in the days, even though 3M nowadays claims that it does not contain any silicone based ingredients in the actual product.
I did a similar thing on a black car. Could remove only 80% of the swirls. Wasn’t able to remove the very deep ones, even I did many passes with a heavy rubbing compound (3M) and a woolpad (3M) which is a very abrasive combination. Is that possible? Any ideas how to proceed? Possibly wetsand it? Another question: Don’t we need to wipe off the oil components in the compound with isopropanol or something similar? Or else the swirls might just be temporary covered and we don’t see the real result after the polishing. Or do I get something wrong here?
I have a brand new, 6 miles black civic type R with some crazy swirls just above the black bumper. Would love to talk offline about how I can go about tackling this.
exactly what I need to know. I have a Mercedes too and I tried Meguiars compound but it didn't helped that much. I was unsure if I should use heavy products... now i know. thank you
I love black when it's finished,it's the most beautiful out of all the colors, but,it's the hardest to work on,great job brian,by the way how long was process, just curious, thanks brian, from sunny California 74°
I have an SQ5 with Methos Black Metallic paint. Is there anything I need to be aware of with this type of paint finish when removing swirls or paint correction? Let’s assume I have all the right tools and supplies. Do you have any training videos on this paint type?
Hi Brian, Just finished a 2004 black s Class. Funny I found angelwax resurrection and a rupes yellow. Sounds that it shouldn’t work but finish was amazing.
So I have no problem getting my black car to the condition of the one you’ve just done. My struggle is getting it better than that. The rids in my car stick out like a sore thumb to me even though I get a ton of compliments on the paint. Can you make a video that shows 85-90% correction?
Hi there. Can you help me with a question?Im going to do a paint correction in a european car Citroen. Its a black car just like this and the gold is to remove 60-65% of the deffects,a bunch of them caused by car washes with machines. Can i use a soluction of ipa after de correction to apply a ipa soluction or i need to by a true paint cleaner cause im going to use car pro reload to give some protection?
I do the area behind the door handles by hand, too. Always want to ask the owner if it's really so hard not to scrape his nails against the paint. A personal peeve of sorts.
I've noticed my clay bar leaves residue on my 2018 Audi Q7 vs many other cars I've used it on. I understand the Audi clear coat must be a hard clear and it acts very differently from Toyota, GM, etc clear coat. Any tips on this? I'm using a clay luber and I've tried both a blue and red clay. My Audi is stubborn to work on which is why I haven't done a full polish on it particularly in the rear.
Apex Detail Brian I know is a old video but I doing my Bmw 2008 and I believe is a hard paint or clear cause like these is a Germany , I will do your combo now same people say final polish , then IPA wax then sealing, other say seal then wax what should I do? Thank so much
my cars never see a car wash. especially when I'm stopped at a light and see them drying the cars with dirty towels and leaning over the hood with zippered hoodies and jackets.
Somehow when I did my dads Mercedes CLA 2015 I still can see swirls after using lambswool with 3M Fast cut XL followed by 3M machine polish with a dual oscilating machine with yellow foam pads. Speed 2 on a flex 603 rotating, speed 3 on the dual oscilating one.
VW paint on my 2014 Jetta is so easy to scratch with even a clean finger tip or towel when drying. I recently left hologram scratches on my roof by doing the baggie test, even when I had just washed the car. I couldn't believe it, last time I do that. But VW paint is still quite hard vs Hondas for example.
Good lord. I don't understand the fragility of modern clear coats. I hope some day soon they're more resistant to scratches at the very least. Can't be too expensive to do once they figure out the right formula.
A 2 step correction for "swirl removal" with that bad of marring/scratches and not use a more aggressive compound/pad ?, in the same amount of time (16 hours) I could easily do a full correction and taken 98% of the deep scratched damage out with Scholl Concepts S3 Gold XXL & then jeweled with S40 finish. If you were truly just trying to remove "swirls marks", their are a couple amazing one step paint correction products, s20 black in particular that finish down fine enough to then coat with SIO2. If you don't believe me just ask the manufactures of Porsche, Lamborghini, Bugatti, McLaren, Mercedes Benz who they recommend for paint finishing.
Too difficult to find Angelwax Redemption & Perfect Polish in USA.....WestCoast Dealer does not have inventory. Guess I should stay with Sonax or more mainstream brand names...This is for my 2012 Vette Inferno Orange Garage Queen.
I just found your channel recently, great videos! Would you normally completely finish a whole section like you did with the front clip or do you go around whole car in stages? Is there a "normal" way of doing that or is it just preference?
Looking awesome. By the way i live down the street in wernersville. Seen your car outside your shop and yelled to my wife, I FOLLOW THAT GUY ON TH-cam LOL.
Another very impressive video Bri what speed did you have on the polisher please I have a Rupes some guys say speed 3 is enough however others use 5 & 6 ,what’s your opinion Daver the UK
Wow - incredible results! I was honestly expecting you to go for the rotary because of the Mercedes hard clear coat! Impressive results with a DA and orange pad. Any reason you went for the DA instead? Also, could you post a link to your spot lighting?
I highly recommend this one...www.amazon.com/gp/search?ie=UTF8&tag=apexdetail-20&linkCode=ur2&linkId=ef0ba9bc06b011add0dacd41f68c19cd&camp=1789&creative=9325&index=automotive&keywords=MAXSHINE%2015%20mm%20polisher
Hey Brian, thanks for the informative videos! Question, would you recommend sonax cut max for cutting and then finish off with sonax perfect finish although it’s an AIO? thanks again
Can you please use a cheap DA to show removing swirls. Man it's killing me right now 😔 10 year Navy vet trying to do the detail thing. All I can afford is this cheap shot. If you have a used flex 15mm or 21 mm I'll buy it from you. Need help brotherhip

Car washes = Job Security! 😜
Brian yes it does!!!!
lol...right!
*_Brian, excellent work as always!_*
Apex Detail do you have a Facebook contact?
@apexautodetails
I really appreciate you taking time out of your day to make these great videos for us all
Hey... my pleasure... hope they help a bit.👍🏻
Extremely well done. I feel patience is the key, you aren’t at all rushed in your movements.
Good choice in tools and products, that clear was really hammered!
It was! Looked like a scotchbright pad was used to wash it!
Looks great ! How do you handle around the emblems and so forth ? Seems impossible to reach and correct
Brian would also like to see how you do the black behind door handles and the emblem when using a cutting compound??
Emblems come off... behind door handles be hand.
thanks..............
Thank you for all your time and vids. I am learning a lot from them. Especially since our household consists of 2 silver & 1 black vehicles.
Would you recommend sonax perfect finish and a yellow rupes pad for minor cobwebs and water spots on a brand new car? Never ran thru wash tunnel but seems that dealer washed car with less than ideal towels. Not looking for 100% just at least 80% before I use a good sealant

Clean.....not only the ME/BE bit your shop too. Nice job all around!
Thanks! Yeah... I go over that floor every 3 days or so.
Awesome finish!! Thanks for putting this video up! That vehicle looks amazing!
Thanks! Its a bit better!👍🏻
You know what would be interesting? A discussion of the various clear coat systems in use today and their different properties. Another excellent video as usual
Great videos, could you also include on your videos products you use such as compound, polish wax and pads?
Im starting off with a rotary buffer and a wool pad... a little wetter and a little slower..keeping it old school...lol!
Great video sir....Would a euro fiber pad be a choice here? Thanks for all your hard work !!!!
if you would of used rotary polisher think that would of given better results?
damn, plz more real-world videos. It's so helpful for beginners like me as you went though the process how to choose the combination. Thums up
Nice work brian. Out of curiosity, why not the rotary for the compounding stage if you knew you were going to follow up with a polish? Little bit less vibration for such a large task and a bit more defect removal.
I would personally cut with the rotary... but keep in mind, beginners asked for the video. They only use DA polishers.😞
Apex Detail you and me both my friend lol love my dewalt!
Brian nice step by step processing order!!! Nice job!!! Love the finish!!!
Do the customer have the understand of car washes and what they can do ??
Yeah.. he does... great customer.
thanks..........

I just bought a new black Honda Pilot. Will a single stage polish take away the random minor swirls?
I did a similar thing on a black car. Could remove only 80% of the swirls. Wasn’t able to remove the very deep ones, even I did many passes with a heavy rubbing compound (3M) and a woolpad (3M) which is a very abrasive combination. Is that possible? Any ideas how to proceed? Possibly wetsand it?

Hi Bryan, what protection did you use after the correction?. Thank you. Big fan from Dominican Republic. Love your vids
My question is, how does it look under the sun? Swirling from the polishing wheel?
I have a brand new, 6 miles black civic type R with some crazy swirls just above the black bumper. Would love to talk offline about how I can go about tackling this.
Hi brian what is good for protecting the front headlights on a new car? Something from angelwax or gyeon range.
Keep up the good work 👍
Hey Brian, what kind of protection do you put on the vehicle after you finish waxing it?
exactly what I need to know.
Sunny ! Sure rub it in! 😁
16 hours for me... Iam old...and its an SUV! 😂
16 hours sounds very reasonable. That was not a tiny Honda CRX and the defects were pretty bad.
I have an SQ5 with Methos Black Metallic paint. Is there anything I need to be aware of with this type of paint finish when removing swirls or paint correction? Let’s assume I have all the right tools and supplies. Do you have any training videos on this paint type?
I recently paint corrected my first mercedez. Jesus christ that clear coat was hard!!
Do you do both steps back to back before moving to the next panel? How long did the complete job take? Another happy customer!
When I have my routine planned start to finish... I will then proceed, step by step. I dont want polishers, cords and pads laying everywhere.
How many hours did you spend on this car Brian ? One day, two days, 15 hours what's your time frame with cars in this condition?
What does it mean if a paint clear coat is hard or soft and how to tell if it hard or soft? Thanks.
I will do a detailed video on which vehicles have which clears... and why.
@@apexdetail85 ok
Hi Brian,
Just finished a 2004 black s Class. Funny I found angelwax resurrection and a rupes yellow. Sounds that it shouldn’t work but finish was amazing.
Hey... whatever gets the job done my friend!
Can you get the same results doing it by hand.
So I have no problem getting my black car to the condition of the one you’ve just done. My struggle is getting it better than that. The rids in my car stick out like a sore thumb to me even though I get a ton of compliments on the paint. Can you make a video that shows 85-90% correction?
I can put it like this... anything harsher than swirls will be taken care of with wet sanding.
Apex Detail I was hoping that wasn’t the answer
I'm curious why Ardex didn't make the top of the list? You video review of the product was a strong positive.
Roger Baron Hard at it is very good... the top 3 finish much further, cutting down on steps and time. Time is money.
You did a finishing polish with this one which sits at the top. The contest isn't the best 1 step.
Do you go around and compound the whole car and then go around and polish? Or do you compound and polish section by section?
Looks great. How do you handle the badges and emblems? Do you tape them off or do you go over or around them?
Badges come off... behind door handles done by hand.
I do the area behind the door handles by hand, too. Always want to ask the owner if it's really so hard not to scrape his nails against the paint. A personal peeve of sorts.

How can one learn which type of paint (hard, soft) each car has. Something I haven’t been able to figure out in my few years detailing.
Man great job ..god bless .
How many pads did you use on this SUV?
Thanks! 4 pads.. one for each side, top, front/back.
I use Poorboys pad cleaner and forced air to clean pad after each pass.
Awesome work! Thanks for the vids, you have a great channel! Do you go over the headlamps and tail lamps when you do this?
How do you know when a clear coat paint is soft or hard?
Brian what did you end up using for protection on top? Wax/sealant?
QP ON 2.0
Apex Detail, thanks Brian, great work. I had a 350 like that not too long ago, it sure let’s great when it’s all done but a lot of work.
Apex Detail Brian I know is a old video but I doing my Bmw 2008 and I believe is a hard paint or clear cause like these is a Germany , I will do your combo now same people say final polish , then IPA wax then sealing, other say seal then wax what should I do? Thank so much

Will do! Should I use Perfect Finish with the dual oscillating machine?
Sweet..happy customer in deed !!

have you tried maxshine pads?
What do you put on tires to make them black.
What was the orange pad you used?

Sorry if I'm repeating a question , but do u clay b4 compounding ? TY & great work mad skill
Wouldnt HD speed do that in one step??,great job
A one step would not cut deep enough.. would have to start with HD Cut Plus.
So if you protected this with Angelwax dark, is it worth topping that with enigma wax or vice versa?
It was protected with another product. But when I use Enigma... its by itself. I take advantage of what that wonderful wax can provide.
Did you go over the head lights and tail lights the same way?
Thanks Brian.
Anytime!!
Outstanding as always brian thank you
😱👍🏻😍! You can definitely see a difference!!! One question- did you end up using the uro micro fiber pads on certain areas?
Looking awesome. By the way i live down the street in wernersville. Seen your car outside your shop and yelled to my wife, I FOLLOW THAT GUY ON TH-cam LOL.
Why do they call some polishing pads "heavy" polishing?
Another very impressive video Bri what speed did you have on the polisher please I have a Rupes some guys say speed 3 is enough however others use 5 & 6 ,what’s your opinion Daver the UK
For me...the 3rd speed setting. That is mid speed.
Wow - incredible results! I was honestly expecting you to go for the rotary because of the Mercedes hard clear coat! Impressive results with a DA and orange pad. Any reason you went for the DA instead? Also, could you post a link to your spot lighting?
I switch polishers every video or two just to keep it interesting. Cutting here at the shop is done with the rotary.😃

Wat speed do u put it on
Brian, do you think short throw machines finish out better? I've heard several people make that argument over the years.
It certainly makes it a bit easier to do so.
How much time this correction took you?
Brian for a beginner that is so difficult to use Sonax .....
Actually...Sonax makes it easier for a beginner.
What did you spray @5:18 ?
IPA.
Great vid B! Thanks!
Thank YOU!!!
Beautiful!!!
Wow! Can you do mine next?
Mikey P Absolutely!!
Hey Brian, thanks for the informative videos! Question, would you recommend sonax cut max for cutting and then finish off with sonax perfect finish although it’s an AIO? thanks again
With todays Touchless Car Washes, there is just no excuse to destroy the clear coat on your vehicle.
We really do not have many options for touchless in the area.
There's one 1 mile from my house that doesn't touch the paint.
If you're going to do two steps, why not use a MF pad at first?
Gracias .. Great job..
Can you please use a cheap DA to show removing swirls. Man it's killing me right now 😔 10 year Navy vet trying to do the detail thing. All I can afford is this cheap shot. If you have a used flex 15mm or 21 mm I'll buy it from you. Need help brotherhip
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!! AMAZING JOB!!!
Thanks Brian! pretty educative and as always, great job 👍
HAND CAR WASHES ONLY NOW!!!
Car washes aka swirl factories.
Your doing a correction pull the scratches out , grab your rotary !! Why charge the customer Twice !! Pull the scratches !.
